Chapter 123 Rescue: Bold and Fantastical

Aide tightly shielded his daughter in front of him, “You can’t do this, she’s just a child, do you have any humanity?”

“Humanity?” The black captain laughed loudly, “You’re telling us jokes. It’s The Apocalypse now. You’re still talking about humanity with us, you’re really naive.”

“Get up!” The black captain smashed the gun stock viciously against Aide’s head.

The black captain used all his strength. Aide’s head was streaming with blood, he felt dizzy, and he crashed to the ground with a thud.

“Naive.” The black captain reached out to grab the little girl, “I’ve changed my mind. I haven’t touched a woman in so long, are the brothers all horny? This little girl looks good, and she’s been well protected in The Apocalypse, with soft skin and tender flesh. Let a few of us brothers relieve our desires, and then cook and eat her. That way it won’t be a waste.”

“Hehehe…” The team members let out lewd laughs. Not a single person thought there was anything wrong with this, or pleaded for the little girl.

“No, let go of me, Daddy save me…” The little girl was bewildered, instinctively scared, and she screamed loudly.

Aide was dizzy and managed to open his eyes, his vision blurred.

He had no strength in his whole body and couldn’t stand up. He crawled, crawling with all his might.

He stretched out his hand and grabbed the black captain’s ankle, “Let go of my daughter.”

The black captain looked down at the hand on his ankle, like looking down at an ant. The team members came up and stomped heavily on Aide’s wrist. Aide let out a painful scream and curled into a ball, holding his wrist.

    “Who goes first?”

“Of course me, I’m the captain…”

The little girl’s loud crying, the men’s sounds, and the sound of tearing fabric mixed together. It stimulated Aide’s nerves, but he was powerless and could only watch as his daughter was defiled by a bunch of beasts.

At this critical moment, a dragon roar that Aide had never heard before resounded through the sky and earth. The next second, a mechanical arm descended from the sky, directly smashing through the roof.

The black captain was startled and looked up in horror, seeing the most terrifying scene he had ever witnessed.

“Oh my god, what is this, an alien?”

A giant humanoid steel figure floated in mid-air. Compared to this steel giant, the black captain’s burly figure among humans was as small as an ant.

The black captain raised his gun and fired a burst at the steel giant. The bullets hit the steel giant’s arm, only producing some sparks. Besides that, they didn’t leave a single mark on the steel giant’s arm.

Seeing that things were bad, the black captain turned and ran, but the steel arm was a step faster than him and immediately smashed down on him. The speed was disproportionately fast for its size. The black captain was smashed into a meat paste.

Seeing this, the team members scattered like startled birds, fleeing in all directions. The steel giant moved cleanly and decisively, one punch per person. In the blink of an eye, everyone was smashed into meat paste.

The little girl ran to Aide’s side and spread her thin and tender arms, “Alien, please don’t hurt my dad, okay? My dad is amazing, he is a great scientist, he can help you make many things!”

“Little fellow, we are not some aliens!” A giant dragon, formed by Mental Power, suddenly appeared.

“Thunder Dragon? Gu Jinsheng!” Aide recognized the dragon formed by Mental Power. The owner of this dragon was too famous.

“Dad, what are you looking at? And where is the dragon, why can’t I see it?”

“Oh, you know that silly person, my master.” The Thunder Dragon wagged its tail in mid-air, looking at the little girl, “So pathetic, the little fellow hasn’t evolved a power yet, and can’t see this lord.”

“I am Gu Jinsheng from Jing Shi United Base. I received your distress message here. Are you willing to join my Jing Shi United Base and serve it?”

“I am willing.” Aide nodded without hesitation. Gu Jinsheng opened the entrance of the Mech, and Aide walked in.

The interior of the Mech was more like a giant cockpit. Aide went up to the second floor and saw Gu Jinsheng and Ji An sitting inside.

“You two are both here?” Aide asked in surprise.

“Do you know us?” Ji An tilted his head and asked.

“How could I not know the two most famous people in Jing Shi United Base? One is the Commander-in-Chief Gu Jinsheng, and the other is the Era-spanning Researcher Ji An.”

“Thank you for the compliment.” Ji An smiled.

Aide looked at the cockpit curiously, “Is this a Mech?”

“Yes.” Ji An said, “It seems like you’re seeing it for the first time?”

Aide nodded, “I was kept under house arrest by them. They didn’t allow me to contact the outside world, and I didn’t have anything to contact the outside world with, so I don’t know what new high-tech has appeared recently.”

“Then it’s quite impressive that you managed to get an AI under their noses.”

“You might not believe it, but this AI wasn’t something I found. It was delivered to me by a Zombie.”

“Zombie?” Gu Jinsheng and Ji An said in unison. They looked at each other, seeing confusion in each other’s eyes.

“Yes, it was a Zombie. At that time, they pushed me out to attract Zombies, and I thought I was going to die, but a Zombie pushed me and stuffed this thing into my hand. I knew it was an AI that could contact Jing Shi United Base, so I pressed the distress message.” Aide recalled, and suddenly said, “If I’m not mistaken, that should have been a Zombie from Huaxia.”

“What is your power?” Gu Jinsheng asked.

“I am a Mental-type Power User. I wouldn’t be mistaken. What I’m best at is Instant Memory. As long as I’ve seen something, I can recall it afterwards, sometimes even accurately down to every strand of hair. I also saw the Five-Starred Red Flag symbol on that Zombie, so it was definitely a Zombie from your Huaxia.”

Aide’s words plunged Gu Jinsheng and Ji An into deeper confusion.

“Could it be a Mental Power Zombie King?” Ji An was puzzled, “But that doesn’t make sense. If it were a Mental-type Zombie King, they would be smarter, how could they save people? On the contrary, it should covet the Power User Crystal Core in your brain even more, that’s something good that can make it level up.”

“I don’t know. At first, I thought it was a Zombie that was remotely controlled by you specifically to save me.”

“Although I am very capable, I don’t have the ability to predict the future. We don’t know what’s going on with all this either.” Ji An said.

“May I ask, what research were you primarily responsible for at M Base before?” Ji An inquired.

“Spaceships, lunar landing projects.” Aide stared fixedly at Ji An and Gu Jinsheng’s expressions, not missing any subtle changes on their faces.

He wanted to ensure that Jing Shi United Base truly valued scientific research talents as rumored. Only if they were truly valued could he have a place to stand in a foreign land.

Ji An’s face showed a look of pleasant surprise, “This is like someone delivering a pillow when you’re sleepy. Our Jing Shi United Base currently needs talents in this area.”

    Only then did Aide relax.

At this moment, they arrived at the location of several people who had sent out distress signals. Gu Jinsheng operated the Mech to rescue them. These people were all scientific researchers.

Only scientific researchers could alarm Gu Jinsheng enough to personally come out. Jing Shi United Base is currently especially lacking scientific researchers. The issue of human survival is imminent.

After the few scientific researchers introduced themselves to each other, Ji An discovered that they were all very well-known scientific researchers, each with outstanding research areas.

Ji An brought the people back to Jing Shi United Base. A new building had been constructed here for the researchers to live in.

Aide, bringing his daughter, was assigned a two-bedroom apartment.

The living environment was very good. Although the interior decoration was simple, it was very clean. All the bed linens and duvet covers were new, and pots, pans, and bowls were all available.

“Dad, there’s even a computer here.” The little girl couldn’t remember how long it had been since she had access to the internet. She was very happy to see the computer.

“Was it left by the previous owner?” Aide picked up the laptop on the table to return it to Ji An.

Ji An refused, “This belongs to you.”

Aide’s eyes widened, “Mine? We can use computers?”

“Of course you can. How can researchers live without computers?”

    “Aren’t we under house arrest?”

“Of course not. The Power User guards in this building are not here to monitor you, but to protect your personal safety.” Ji An explained, “You can understand them as the security personnel of research labs before The Apocalypse. They are of the same nature.”

Facing Aide’s skeptical gaze, Ji An added an explanation, “You don’t need to be too wary. You might even meet your former colleagues here. Once you’ve been in Jing Shi United Base for a while, you’ll know that it’s no different from before The Apocalypse. Including laws and morals, you and your child are absolutely safe here.”

Aide looked at the computer on the table. If they could really browse the internet freely and contact the outside world, then perhaps they could try to trust Jing Shi United Base.

Aide adapted to Jing Shi United Base for a few days before being recruited into the laboratory by Ji An.

“As everyone knows, the Earth has been infected by the Zombie virus. Land and water sources are everywhere filled with the Zombie virus and cannot be purified to this day.” Ji An’s global search for scientific researchers, such a large-scale operation, was aimed at something significant.

“It’s impossible for us to purify the Earth now. My plan is to find a new home for humanity.”

These words caused the faces of the scientific researchers present to change drastically, causing an uproar.

“Before The Apocalypse, humanity was committed to finding planets suitable for human survival and planets with life, but until The Apocalypse arrived, no such planets were found.”

“Now, at a critical moment for human survival, time is urgent, and how can it be so easy to find such a planet.”

“I understand all this.” Ji An nodded, “So I was thinking, instead of searching painstakingly in the vast universe, why don’t we artificially create a planet suitable for our own human survival?”

    “That’s too bold!”

    “Simply fantastical!”

“It is indeed very bold and very fantastical, but research itself is bold and fantastical.”

Ji An was not angry at the questioning and still said calmly, “If it weren’t for being good at imagining, how could AI, Mechs, and space abilities have come into being?”
