AMLFS Chapter 75
by VolareAt the same time, in the Chancellor’s residence.
The Chancellor was painting a spring landscape at his desk. A trusted confidant, planted in the Ning Wang Mansion, entered and stood to the side of the desk.
He respectfully said, “Chancellor, there’s movement on Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district’s side.”
“Oh?”
The Chancellor’s expression didn’t change as he smoothly added more mountains and rocks with his brush.
He was calm, as if expecting this, and asked, “How so?”
The confidant continued to report: “This subordinate saw several inconspicuous carriages leave the Ning Wang Mansion this afternoon. Their movements were secretive, it was the Ning Wang Consort. After seeing off the consort, the Prince began to gather troops, he must be going to rescue the Song family.”
Hearing this, the Chancellor’s eyebrows showed a hint of coldness. He had personally taught Zhao Fangye, but he hadn’t expected him to be blinded by love one day.
As expected, a pheasant can’t give birth to a golden phoenix; it seems their family is full of sentimental fools.
He threw the brush in his hand violently, and the excellent spring landscape painting was stained by the splashing ink.
Becoming dirty and unsightly.
The Chancellor’s eyes flashed with viciousness, and his tone was frosty: “That simpleton of the Song family, get rid of him!”
Did Zhao Fangye really think he could deceive everyone with a fake substitute?
He really overestimated Zhao Fangye; he hadn’t expected even a simpleton could infatuate him to this extent.
For the sake of the grand plan, that simpleton of the Song family must not sit in the position of Ning Wang Consort.
The subordinate’s eyes sharpened. He originally thought he was just monitoring, but he didn’t expect that he would have to take the Ning Wang Consort’s life: “Yes.”
The capital city, night fell.
On the curfewed streets, a large group of people rushed towards the Ministry of Punishments Prison.
“Who goes there?”
The soldiers guarding the long street didn’t have time to stop them before they were knocked aside by a man on horseback who thrust a spear at them.
In the darkness, the troops brushed past. He saw a familiar insignia.
The two words “Ning Wang…” were just about to leave his mouth when his chest was pierced.
Blood spurted out: “Ning Wang…”
Another soldier guarding the city saw that things were not good and tried to get on his horse to escape and report, but he was also cut down.
The Ministry of Punishments was still unaware of the danger that was quietly approaching. The guards at the gate were dozing off, holding their spears.
He had never seen anyone dare to rob the Ministry of Punishments Prison in all his years of guarding the gate.
Saying it was guarding, it was just an easy job. Anyone who wanted to visit had to give him money. It was both easy and profitable.
Little did he know, his good days were about to come to an end completely tonight.
In a daze, he heard a burst of galloping hooves. The guard opened his eyes in a daze. Suddenly, a cold light exploded before his eyes.
The cold blade, carrying the stench of blood, slashed straight at his head. Before he could react, blood spurted out, dyeing the gate of the Ministry of Punishments red.
For a time, the screams of the Ministry of Punishments guards were endless. They were like rats in a dark prison, safe and well-fed.
They had long forgotten to be prepared.
How could they resist Zhao Fangye’s personal guards, who had been fighting on the battlefield for many years? The dark prison of the Ministry of Punishments became a river of blood. Corpses lay everywhere.
The Song family, in the darkness, heard the screams outside and woke up from their sleep in shock.
Song Lianyu protected Lin Rugui behind him. Song Zigen was still lying weakly on the straw mat.
The three of them stared at the prison door. They couldn’t see what was happening outside in the darkness, but the heavy smell of blood filled their noses. A dangerous aura solidified in the air.
In the darkness, only the sounds of killing and accelerated heartbeats could be heard.
Just when the three of them were tense, the prison door was slammed open. The person who came in held up a torch, illuminating the dark prison.
Song Lianyu looked at the person’s blood-stained armor and became even more vigilant. He protected Lin Rugui firmly behind him: “Who are you?”
The person looked at the three people’s faces and said, “You don’t need to panic. I am the leader of Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district’s personal army. I am here to rescue you on the orders of the Prince. Now, follow me out of the Ministry of Punishments.”
“What? Ning Wang?” Hearing this, the three of them were stunned. This was the Ministry of Punishments Prison.
Could it be that the Prince had forced his way in with his men?
Disregarding imperial authority, Ning Wang’s actions were transgressing and treasonous!
Song Zigen on the straw mat supported his weak body: “No… cannot… if we leave here, the Prince’s… crime… will be confirmed…”
“These are the Prince’s orders. The situation is urgent, please forgive us.”
The leader of the personal army raised his hand, and several soldiers immediately came in and carried Song Zigen out. They also pulled Song Lianyu and Lin Rugui, escorting them away.
Walking out of the prison cell, the corridor was full of corpses. Lin Rugui’s face turned pale instantly as she looked at the bloody scene, and her stomach churned as she covered her mouth.
Song Lianyu quickly supported her: “Mother!”
“I’m fine!” Lin Rugui knew that this was not the time to be sentimental and quickened her pace.
As a woman, she knew what the consequences would be for storming the Ministry of Punishments Prison to rescue them, the criminals who had colluded with the enemy and betrayed the country.
They couldn’t repay the Prince for his actions.
As soon as they left the gate of the Ministry of Punishments, a carriage drove up.
The leader of the personal army pressed the sword at his waist and looked around, urging, “Get in the car quickly!”
Watching the three people get into the carriage, his eyes met with the driver, and he nodded in agreement.
The next second, the horse neighed and galloped away, disappearing into the night.
On the other side, Deputy General Sun was driving the carriage on the official road, not daring to delay for even a moment, even in the darkness. But things didn’t go as planned.
Before long, Deputy General Sun heard the sound of hooves behind him. He thought to himself that things were not good, just as the Prince had expected.
The people who were trying to harm the consort had caught up.
He continuously whipped the two horses pulling the carriage, and Deputy General Sun said to the carriage, “Consort, hold on tight. Someone is chasing us.”
A panicked response came from inside the carriage.
Immediately afterward, the carriage galloped in the darkness. The pursuers behind them were not to be outdone and quickly caught up to the carriage.
A man in black on horseback drew an arrow from his back and aimed at the carriage.
There was only a whooshing sound.
The arrow pierced the carriage, and a cry of surprise came from within. The man in black’s eyes lit up, and he leaped off his horse, landing on the roof of the carriage with a long sword in hand.
Seeing that he couldn’t shake them off, Deputy General Sun drew the long sword from his waist and kicked off the carriage wall, standing on the roof of the carriage to confront them: “Who are you? How dare you assassinate the Ning Wang Consort!”
The men in black didn’t say a word, attacking him with their swords.
Deputy General Sun was quickly at a disadvantage, being attacked by three people. But the men in black didn’t get any advantages either, as they were stabbed several times.
Seeing that Deputy General Sun was struggling, they exchanged glances and tacitly left one person to deal with Deputy General Sun, while the other two entered the carriage to assassinate the Ning Wang Consort.
Of course, Deputy General Sun would not let them get their way, parrying and restraining them at the same time. It was indeed difficult to fight three people alone, and he accidentally revealed an opening.
The man in black immediately seized the opportunity, turning and stabbing into the carriage. The curtain was pierced, and a face fell into the eyes of the man in black. His hand paused.
He immediately realized that they had been tricked!
But it was too late. In that moment of stunned silence,
the person inside quickly stabbed a long sword into the man in black’s chest.
Liang Xiuzhu’s face was splattered with warm blood, and he was stunned. He looked at the man in black falling in front of him, and his hand holding the long sword couldn’t stop trembling.
Deputy General Sun solved the other two people, glanced at the body on the ground.
His gaze shifted to his trembling hand, and he said lightly, “You stabbed quite accurately.”
