AMLFS Chapter 6
by VolareChapter 6: The Little Simpleton Invites the Prince Home
“Understood, understood, I’ve remembered everything. This servant will go and prepare a new table.”
The cook breathed a sigh of relief. He thought his life was in danger, but it turned out that the Wangfei didn’t like the food.
It seems that the Prince isn’t as disgusted with the Wangfei as the rumors say. If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn’t have believed it.
The high-ranking Prince Zhao Fangye would be so accommodating to a simple-minded male consort.
“Alright. Step back.” Zhao Fangye put down his chopsticks and said to Song Huaixi, who was sitting opposite him, “If there’s anything you want, just ask. The Ning Wang Mansion will satisfy you.”
After speaking, his adjutant whispered something in his ear, and then he got up and left.
Song Huaixi looked at his departing figure and suddenly wasn’t angry anymore.
“Zhang Mama. He said I can ask for anything. Can I raise a puppy?”
Turning his head, he blinked his round eyes at Zhang Mama, his eyes full of longing.
Hearing him being disrespectful, Zhang Mama scolded, “Wangfei!”
Zhang Mama looked serious and said sternly, “You should call him Prince, not be so casual.”
“Oh.”
Song Huaixi was frightened by her expression and nodded.
But in his heart, he didn’t agree. He thought calling him by his name was better. Prince is cold and aloof, and he doesn’t like it.
“Also, don’t act recklessly in the Wang Mansion in the future, and don’t ask for things casually, understand?”
Everyone knows that the Emperor’s marriage decree for Zhao Fangye was meant to irritate him. Their Song family wasn’t a wealthy or influential family and had little status in the court.
But the Prince of Ning was not only the eldest son of the Empress, but also the grandson of The Chancellor, and he had military power in his Northwest territory.
And his uncle was the number one rich merchant in the capital, with industries all over the place.
How could such a wealthy and powerful Prince of Ning willingly be betrothed to a simple-minded male wife?
They were already content with living quietly in the Wang Mansion. If Song Huaixi could gain favor, they would be grateful.
How could they dare to step forward and provoke his disgust?
“Why?” Song Huaixi was puzzled. Zhao Fangye said he could ask for anything.
“Oh, my little ancestor, just do as I say. Mama wouldn’t hurt you.”
Inside the study, a person wearing a black cloak sat in a chair drinking tea.
Zhao Fangye walked in and saw the person in black, not caring at all: “Grandfather, why have you come? Have you had lunch?”
The Chancellor took off his hood, his shrewd eyes staring at him: “Since you don’t want to see me, I have no choice but to come and see you.”
“Speak, what is it?”
Zhao Fangye sat on a carved wooden chair with a faint expression, reaching out to pick up the Ru Kiln tea cup on the table.
The finest Bai Hao Yin Zhen tea leaves exuded a faint fragrance in the tea cup.
“How is it? Did the Emperor ask you to hand over your military power today?” The Chancellor walked over to him, sat down, and took a sip of tea.
“Not bad.”
“The Emperor is so anxious to call you back from the Northwest because he is afraid of the military power in your hands. Sooner or later, he will attack you.”
The Chancellor looked at him, his eyes flickering: “Fangye, now there is no one in the court to compete with you. The Crown Prince is a good-for-nothing who spends his days drinking and indulging in pleasure. How can he achieve great things?”
“Listen to Grandfather, how about you take that position?”
Zhao Fangye put down his tea cup, his light-colored eyes gleaming coldly.
“Grandfather wasn’t satisfied with pushing his daughter into the fire pit, and now he wants to sacrifice his only grandson?”
Hearing him mention his daughter, the Chancellor’s face immediately turned angry: “Don’t mention her to me. As the eldest daughter of the Wang family, she doesn’t consolidate the glory of the family, but wastes her days indulging in love.”
“I worked so hard to help her get to the top, is it so she can practice Taoism in a Taoist temple in the Imperial Palace?”
“Heh.” Zhao Fangye only felt ironic, his handsome face seemed to be covered with a layer of ice.
He got up and left, leaving only his tall figure, unwilling to say more to him.
He would never step into such a dirty place as the Imperial Palace.
Seeing that he wouldn’t listen to reason, the Chancellor felt a pain in his heart. Clutching his chest, he pointed at his departing figure.
“Without the Wang family, where would you have your glory today? Everyone’s wings are getting harder, aren’t they! You really want to anger me to death!”
Zhao Fangye’s footsteps stopped at the door, his tone without a trace of warmth: “If I could choose, I would rather not have this glory.”
After speaking, he turned and left.
In the evening, when Zhao Fangye arrived, Song Huaixi was nestled on the soft couch by the window, reading a picture book.
He was the only one in the room, very quiet.
A thick fox fur wrapped him inside, and the room was heated by the floor heating. The heat steamed his face red.
Song Huaixi held the picture book in both hands, lying horizontally on the soft couch.
His hair was not tied up. As soon as he came back, he clamored for a headache, and Mama had to take a white jade hairpin to tie it up for him.
A pair of dark eyes stared intently at the pages of the book, without blinking. Because he was so engrossed in reading, his pink lips were also slightly open.
Zhao Fangye didn’t disturb him, stopping in the distance to watch him for a while.
Objectively speaking, Song Huaixi’s appearance was quite good. Perhaps it was due to the Song family’s upbringing and his own intelligence.
The first thing that caught his eye was his cleanliness, not his beauty. Like an uncarved flawless jade.
After reading the most thrilling section, Song Huaixi felt thirsty. When he turned his head, he saw Zhao Fangye leaning against the door.
His beautiful face instantly came to life, and he happily said to him, “You’re here…”
Halfway through speaking, he hurriedly changed his words and continued happily, “Prince, you’re here!”
Zhao Fangye was a little unaccustomed to hearing him call him that. After all, these past two days, he had been calling him “you” and “mine.”
Today he had become so well-behaved.
As he spoke, Song Huaixi crawled out of the fox fur and jumped off the soft couch.
Barefoot, he ran to him on the ground, “Come in quickly! It’s so cold outside!”
Zhao Fangye was pulled into the house by him, looking at his bare feet on the ground. He frowned and said, “You don’t even wear shoes, and you run around everywhere?”
Song Huaixi looked down at his bare feet and moved his toes: “It’s not cold! The floor feels warm, it’s so magical.”
Zhao Fangye ignored him, picked him up, and put him on the soft couch. Song Huaixi wanted to get down, but he held him down.
Song Huaixi looked at him, his eyes full of doubt: “What are you doing? I want to drink water.”
Zhao Fangye personally poured a cup of tea and handed it to him: “Where is your Mama?”
“Mama went out for something.” Song Huaixi held the tea cup and drank it all in one gulp, handing the empty cup to him: “I want more.”
Zhao Fangye glanced at him, not moving. This simpleton was really taking an inch after getting a foot.
Song Huaixi didn’t think there was anything wrong with the Prince serving him tea and water. That’s how it was at home.
He shook his hand, thinking he hadn’t heard, and repeated, “It’s gone, I want more.”
Zhao Fangye thought, what’s the point of arguing with a little idiot? He took the tea cup and refilled it for him: “When your Mama comes back, tell her to prepare to return to the Song Mansion the day after tomorrow. Understand?”
“Go home?!”
Hearing that he was going back to the Song Mansion, Song Huaixi was so excited that he almost jumped up. The smile in his eyes was almost overflowing: “Really? Can I go home?”
“What? You don’t like living in the Wang Mansion?” Zhao Fangye’s expression turned cold when he saw him so happy.
“No!” Song Huaixi explained: “The Wang Mansion is so big, there are so many people, there’s so much to eat, and the floor is warm, it’s so magical!”
“Then do you still want to go back?” Zhao Fangye stared at him with his light-colored eyes.
Song Huaixi thought for a while: “Although my home is small and there are few people, my home is also very good. My home has a beautiful garden, and my father raises a parrot, and it can talk!”
Thinking of this, Song Huaixi grabbed his sleeve: “You come home with me the day after tomorrow, too. I’ll take you to see the parrot!”
Song Huaixi’s eyes were full of anticipation. He felt that Zhao Fangye must have never seen a talking parrot. He really wanted to take him to see it.
He hadn’t planned on it originally, but Zhao Fangye looked at the fingers tightly clutching his sleeve and suddenly chuckled.
“Since you invited this Prince, then this Prince will grace you with his presence.”
