Chapter 42: I Won’t Let You Go Back on Your Word

Hearing that his pants were safe, Song Huaixi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhao Fangye stood up and, with his back to Song Huaixi, took off his training clothes.

The black clothing slipped off, revealing a trim waist and broad back. Zhao Fangye displayed his entire body without hesitation before Song Huaixi.

Although Song Huaixi slept with him every night, he had never seen Zhao Fangye’s upper body so clearly.

He only had a rough impression from their brief touches.

Zhao Fangye’s back and waist were covered in scars, large and small, which were shocking to see.

They were quite an eyesore on Zhao Fangye’s beautiful body.

Song Huaixi, on the bed, stared intently at Zhao Fangye’s body, swallowing hard as his gaze lingered on the scars.

He pursed his lips, losing all interest in appreciating Zhao Fangye’s physique, and frowned at the marks.

He would feel a lot of pain if he accidentally cut his hand, so how much pain must Zhao Fangye have felt with so many scars?

Tossing his clothes aside, Zhao Fangye turned around to see Song Huaixi staring at him intently, and chuckled softly.

Walking toward him, he leaned over, placing both hands on either side of Song Huaixi. His deep voice carried a teasing tone: “Staring so intently? Do you like what you see?”

He was too close, his entire chest right in front of him. Song Huaixi’s fair face flushed instantly.

Ever since he and Zhao Fangye had done those things yesterday, Song Huaixi felt like he was acting a little strange.

His heart would race whenever he saw Zhao Fangye, and now that he was so close,

Song Huaixi became even more flustered.

Covering his eyes with his hands, Song Huaixi pushed against his chest, which was within arm’s reach, and said, “Ah, stay away from me. My heart is beating so fast!”

Seeing his strong reaction, so directly expressing his shyness,

Zhao Fangye was struck by a desire to tease him.

Instead of leaving, he pressed closer, cornering him on the bed.

Song Huaixi braced himself, shrinking back until he hit the wall, with no escape.

He had no choice but to cover his face, refusing to look at him.

Yet, his heart felt numb and tingly, as if a thousand tiny insects were gnawing at it, and his breathing became rapid.

Pulling away his hands, Zhao Fangye studied his expression with his pale eyes: “Is Huaixi shy?”

His wrist was grasped, so Song Huaixi could only lower his head and deny it: “No…”

He didn’t know why he was lying, he just felt a little embarrassed.

Zhao Fangye found it amusing that his whole face was flushed, yet he still stubbornly denied it.

He hooked his finger under his pointed chin with a smile.

His eyes full of mirth: “You and I are husband and husband, this is all normal. Huaixi doesn’t need to be shy, just get used to it.”

As he spoke, Zhao Fangye took his hand and placed it on his own chest: “Doesn’t Huaixi like it? There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.”

A hard sensation was transmitted to the palm of his hand. Zhao Fangye had been practicing martial arts and fighting battles for many years. Every muscle on his body was firm and taut.

Song Huaixi forgot about his earlier embarrassment and curiously grabbed Zhao Fangye’s pectoral muscle and squeezed it. A look of astonishment appeared in his eyes.

    “Hard! So amazing.”

While exclaiming in wonder, Song Huaixi squeezed his own skin. Soft.

Looking up, his eyes were filled with even more surprise. Forgetting his previous bashfulness, he sat up and curiously touched Zhao Fangye’s entire upper body.

When he touched those scars, Song Huaixi’s tone was full of heartache: “Zhao Fangye, you have so many scars. It must have hurt a lot back then.”

“Leading troops in battle, it’s a common occurrence.” Zhao Fangye’s eyes held a faint expression; he was already used to it.

As long as he was alive, what did these minor injuries matter?

Song Huaixi pursed his lips without a word, his fingertips caressing the hideous scars on his back.

Zhao Fangye suddenly remembered that Song Huaixi liked beautiful things, and his eyelashes drooped: “Don’t look, it’s not pretty.”

Hearing this, Song Huaixi immediately retorted while touching the scars, “Pretty! Zhao Fangye, the scars on your back are especially domineering. Like the heroes in picture books.”

Zhao Fangye was handsome, even with scars, he was still handsome. Song Huaixi thought silently in his heart.

Hearing his words, Zhao Fangye’s breathing grew heavier, and a different kind of emotion welled up in his heart. He regretted doing such a stupid thing.

In the end, he was the one who suffered. Song Huaixi’s hands were soft and slender, bringing a unique sensation as they roamed his skin.

The look in Zhao Fangye’s eyes was dark and unfathomable. He grabbed his fidgeting hand, his breathing slightly erratic: “Alright, it’s time for breakfast.”

    “Okay.”

Song Huaixi obediently got up and slipped out of his arms, putting on his clothes on his own.

Zhao Fangye stared at his back, sitting on the bed for a while before getting up to put on his clothes.

Today, Zhao Fangye unusually put on a white robe. Silver dragon patterns were embroidered on the moon-white brocade. Detailed patterns were also embroidered on the hem of the robe.

Zhao Fangye was tall and handsome. After changing into a white robe, his features didn’t seem so sharp, becoming much gentler.

Song Huaixi wore a small sapphire blue jacket with a white robe underneath. Turning around and looking at Zhao Fangye in white, Song Huaixi’s eyes were full of amazement.

He couldn’t help but run up and hug his waist, Song Huaixi said with some worry: “Zhao Fangye, you must never like someone else, okay?”

Zhao Fangye was like a fairy descending from the stories. He had never seen anyone more beautiful than Zhao Fangye.

He hoped that Zhao Fangye would always like him.

If he were a little smarter, he would know that he had become possessive of Zhao Fangye.

Zhao Fangye lowered his head to look at him, reaching out to caress the corner of his eyes.

The corners of his lips curved slightly, his eyes filled with doting: “Okay, I promise you. I’ll only like Huaixi.”

“Mm!” Song Huaixi hugged his waist and swayed back and forth, his heart leaping with joy as he said playfully: “You’re not allowed to go back on your word.”

“I won’t go back on my word.”

After finishing breakfast, Song Huaixi still spent his time with Zhao Fangye in the study.

He held a book and asked Zhao Fangye to read it to him.

Last time, the incident happened so suddenly that Song Huaixi ran back to the Song Mansion without a word. The matter of going to the academy, which had been agreed upon, was also delayed.

Zhao Fangye taught him to read, putting his arm around him and saying, “I’ve already arranged the academy for you. You can enroll in the spring. What do you think, Huaixi? Do you have any thoughts?”

Song Huaixi was happy, but when he heard this, his mood dropped: “Then, can I not live at the academy?”

In the past, when Song Zigen sent him to the academy, he couldn’t go home for more than half a month, and only a servant was there to take care of him. He didn’t want to leave Zhao Fangye.

“I have to stay at the academy for a long time, I’ll miss you a lot.” Song Huaixi’s voice was soft, and his eyelashes were lowered as if he was about to cry.

He would feel sad at the thought of not seeing Zhao Fangye.

So, that’s what he was worried about. Zhao Fangye raised his head and explained with a smile: “This academy is different from the one your father found for you. The academy is in the capital, and I’ll pick you up after school, okay?”

Hearing this, Song Huaixi’s mood immediately brightened: “Really? Zhao Fangye, you’re so amazing.”

In the past, even the sons of wealthy and powerful families had to live in the academy when he attended, but this time, he didn’t have to.

Song Huaixi felt that he was really amazing, his eyes full of admiration for him.

Little did he know that Zhao Fangye had arranged for him to attend the most prestigious Yi Cai Academy in the capital. Even the princes studied here.

Anyone who could get in was a member of the high-ranking nobility, and ordinary officials couldn’t even dream of reaching the threshold.

Even Zhao Fangye was a student of the Yi Cai Academy.
