    Chapter 39: Little Jealous Pot

Finally, Song Huaixi had a good night’s sleep in Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district’s arms.

The night he returned to the Song Mansion, Song Huaixi kept dreaming that Zhao Fangye didn’t like him anymore and wanted to be with that great beauty.

He woke up crying in the middle of the night and remained in a state of half-sleep. He felt dazed even after getting up.

“Awake?” Zhao Fangye noticed his sleepy eyes and rubbed his knuckles against his cheek. “We’ll be at the Ning Wang Mansion soon.”

    “Grumble… grumble…”

Song Huaixi hugged his waist and was about to say something when his stomach rumbled loudly.

Covering his stomach, Song Huaixi smiled shyly at Zhao Fangye, his eyes crinkling. “My stomach is putting on a show…”

Amused by his behavior, Zhao Fangye teased him, “I wonder what play Huaixi’s stomach is performing?”

    “The Empty Fort Strategy!”

Song Huaixi answered loudly, remembering something his father often told him.

He had finally remembered it this time.

Surprised that he would answer like that, Zhao Fangye’s lips curved into a smile, finding him incredibly adorable.

He praised, “Not bad, not bad, Huaixi is even using allusions now.”

“I already ordered Deputy General Sun to return to the mansion ahead of us and instruct the cooks to make your favorite foods, so you can eat as soon as we arrive.”

Not caring about what he was eating, Song Huaixi only wanted to get his answer quickly. “When are we going to ask that person?”

Seeing his impatience, Zhao Fangye gently tapped his nose. “So eager? Accompany me for dinner, and then we’ll go.”

Hearing this, Song Huaixi nodded obediently.

In his heart, he thought that he was still the one accompanying Zhao Fangye for meals.

Zhao Fangye hadn’t been snatched away.

His heart felt sweet, and his brows were tinged with joy.

Taking in the subtle expression on his face, Zhao Fangye’s light-colored eyes revealed a gentle smile as he reached out and caressed his palm, enveloping his hand in his.

    “Are you cold?”

    “No, it’s warm. Very warm.”

Back at the mansion, the servants had already prepared dinner in the main courtyard.

Personally washing Song Huaixi’s hands and face with warm water, Zhao Fangye then led him to sit down and eat.

Song Huaixi hurriedly shoveled rice into his mouth, eager to finish quickly.

Seeing him eat without looking up, his cheeks bulging like a little hamster, Zhao Fangye frowned, thinking he was truly hungry, and stopped him. “Huaixi, eat slowly. Be careful your stomach doesn’t hurt.”

Hearing this, Song Huaixi slowed down the pace of shoveling food into his mouth.

Actually, he wasn’t that hungry; he just wanted to finish quickly so he could ask the “great beauty” what was going on.

Zhao Fangye placed his favorite dishes on his plate and served him a bowl of soup, making sure it was cooled before giving it to him.

He treated him with meticulous care.

Chun Hua, Zhao Lu, and Zhang Wenwen, watching the two of them, finally felt relieved.

Thankfully, nothing major had happened between them. The prince had personally gone to the Song Mansion to bring the prince consort back. It seemed the prince still cared for the prince consort.

Perhaps the person in the rear courtyard was just a passing fancy? After all, they hadn’t even heard of him in the mansion for so long.

The prince was treating him like this, so what use was it to be beautiful?

After finishing a bowl of soup, Song Huaixi felt like the food was up to his throat.

Facing the dishes Zhao Fangye offered, he repeatedly waved his hands, covering his mouth. “Uh… I can’t eat anymore…”

Zhao Fangye had been constantly placing food on his plate throughout the meal, making his stomach almost bulge.

Seeing that he really couldn’t eat any more, Zhao Fangye withdrew his hand and frowned. “Huaixi, you’re still too thin. I’ll have the chefs in the mansion make some nourishing meals to help you.”

“Oh.” Song Huaixi pinched the soft flesh on his stomach, puzzled. “I’m not thin at all.”

Zhao Fangye looked at him amused, the only places on his body with a thin layer of soft flesh were his waist and butt.

He didn’t know where he got the confidence to say he wasn’t thin.

After finishing dinner in a leisurely manner, Zhao Fangye thought that if he had time, he must take him to the military camp to train.

It was clear he hadn’t been going out for a long time; such weakness was not a good thing.

As he was thinking, Song Huaixi’s gaze was fixed on him, filled with urgency.

“Zhao Fangye! Didn’t you say we were going to ask the person in the rear courtyard? Let’s go quickly!”

As soon as these words came out, the three people who had been serving nearby, whose hearts had just settled, became anxious again, all giving Song Huaixi signals with their eyes and hands.

He was really poking at a sore spot. They had just eased the relationship, and now he was going to stir things up again.

Sitting on the chair, Zhao Fangye saw everyone’s expressions.

But Song Huaixi’s eyes couldn’t hold anything else. He looked stubbornly at Zhao Fangye.

There was nothing he could do. He had originally intended to deal with it tomorrow since he was tired today, but now it seemed that Song Huaixi wouldn’t sleep well until he got an answer.

“Little jealous pot.” He pinched the tip of his nose affectionately.

Zhao Fangye said to Zhang Wenwen, “Have Deputy General Sun bring the person from the rear courtyard here.”

Although she was apprehensive, seeing that Zhao Fangye didn’t seem angry, Zhang Wenwen didn’t dare delay and went out.

Before long, Deputy General Sun arrived at the main courtyard with Liang Xiuzhu.

As soon as he entered and saw Zhao Fangye and Song Huaixi, Liang Xiuzhu’s legs went weak.

If Deputy General Sun hadn’t supported him, he probably would have fallen to the ground.

Ever since learning about Song Huaixi’s identity, Liang Xiuzhu had been living in fear every day.

On the way, Deputy General Sun told him that his reckless words had caused disharmony between the prince and the prince consort.

He warned him not to say anything carelessly in front of the prince consort.

Hearing that he had caused a disaster, Liang Xiuzhu’s already fair face instantly turned as pale as paper.

Just from Deputy General Sun’s description, he knew that the prince was deeply in love with the prince consort.

And what had he said? With Zhao Fangye’s personality, he would definitely be driven out.

His legs went weak, and Liang Xiuzhu knelt in front of the two of them, begging for forgiveness with a trembling voice.

“Your Highness, Prince Consort, please forgive me. I didn’t mean to offend the Prince Consort. Please, Your Highness, don’t drive me out of the mansion… If I leave, my mother will have no way to live…”

Once he was driven out of the mansion, he would be a discarded pawn, with no value at all.

A trace of impatience flashed in Zhao Fangye’s eyes, and he said coldly, “Explain to the Prince Consort exactly what you said that day, in detail.”

    “Yes.”

Liang Xiuzhu hurriedly crawled towards Song Huaixi. “Prince Consort, I misunderstood you as an informant sent by the Chancellor, that’s why I said that.”

“The reason His Highness kept me was to have me pass false information to the Chancellor. There’s nothing between His Highness and me. Please, Prince Consort, have mercy and let me stay.”

“Ah?” Song Huaixi didn’t know the reason, blinking his eyes as he asked, “What line?”

Liang Xiuzhu was momentarily at a loss for words, not knowing how to explain. “Prince Consort… that is, I’m helping the Prince with his work. I swear to heaven that I have no relationship with the Prince. I was talking nonsense that day.”

Zhao Fangye looked at Song Huaixi. “Huaixi, I only have you by my side. Do you believe me now?”

Song Huaixi ignored him, looking at the hand Liang Xiuzhu raised and suddenly asked, “Then did you kiss Zhao Fangye?”

“Ah?” Liang Xiuzhu opened his mouth wide, his delicate face filled with shock.

Song Huaixi’s words were startling, and everyone in the room had different expressions on their faces as they looked directly at Liang Xiuzhu.

Liang Xiuzhu looked terrified and quickly said, “No, absolutely not.”

Hearing this, Song Huaixi breathed a sigh of relief. “Then what about sleeping?”

As soon as these words came out, everyone’s faces began to change again. They all looked towards Liang Xiuzhu.

Liang Xiuzhu was sweating profusely. He didn’t have the guts to seduce the Jade-Faced Rakshasa.

He quickly said, “No. His Highness is of noble birth, how dare I offend him.”

Now Song Huaixi was completely relieved, and the solemn expression on his face was replaced by joy.

Zhao Fangye didn’t comment on Song Huaixi’s logic of judgment, looking at Liang Xiuzhu on the ground. “Leave.”

Deputy General Sun was stunned, adding, “Should we send him out of the mansion?”

Song Huaixi, who was in a good mood, turned his face and said, “Don’t send him out of the mansion. What will happen to his mother if he leaves?”

Everyone’s eyes once again looked towards Song Huaixi.

Liang Xiuzhu didn’t expect that Song Huaixi would actually speak for him. He was so grateful that he immediately knelt on the ground and kowtowed.

“Thank you, Prince Consort, for your great kindness. Liang Xiuzhu will never forget it.”
