Chapter 38: Can You Not Like Others?
“Huaixi, don’t cry…”
Zhao Fangye gently wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes, his voice exceptionally tender and patient.
It was completely different from his usual indifference.
“Your eyes will hurt. Be good, listen to me and don’t cry. I’ll explain it to you slowly, okay?”
Under his gentle and soothing words, Song Huaixi gradually stopped crying.
Sniffling, he clutched at the corner of Zhao Fangye’s robe, pouting and saying nothing.
He only felt a stomach full of grievances.
Zhao Fangye felt a pang of heartache and held him even tighter, his slender fingers gently wiping his tear-reddened eyes.
His pale eyes fixed on him without wavering.
Perhaps he was still angry and aggrieved.
Song Huaixi’s eyelashes were wet with tears, and he kept his eyes lowered, stubbornly refusing to look at him.
“Huaixi, are you still angry with me?” Holding him by the waist, Zhao Fangye lowered his head and kissed his forehead. “Why won’t you look at me?”
“I don’t want to see you…” Song Huaixi clutched his collar tightly. “You kissed someone else, and then… then you came to kiss me…”
As he said this, he covered his mouth, his voice uncontrollably choked with sobs, as if he was about to cry again.
Hearing this, a smile appeared in Zhao Fangye’s eyes, and his tone was somewhat helpless.
“Huaixi, you’ve misunderstood. That person you saw that day, I have no relationship with him.”
“What he said was false.”
Zhao Fangye reached out and pinched his cheek, his tone affectionate. “Little jealous pot, youDislikeme? I’ve only kissed you.”
Song Huaixi angrily slapped his hand away, frowning and refusing to let it go. “Not a little jealous pot! Then why was he in the back courtyard?”
Remembering that the person in the back courtyard looked like someone who had walked out of a painting, Song Huaixi’s voice trembled with worry as he said,
“He said he was here to seduce you. He’s so good-looking. You must like him and not me…”
Hearing his words, Zhao Fangye couldn’t help but curl the corners of his lips. “Does Huaixi know what ‘seduce’ means?”
Seeing the little fool being jealous without realizing it was truly amusing, seeing that he cared about him.
Zhao Fangye felt that after not seeing him for these two days, his empty heart was instantly filled.
“It’s kissing! Sleeping!” Song Huaixi immediately replied angrily, his fair face furrowed with dissatisfaction.
That was what that person had said, and he had kept it firmly in his heart.
Every time he thought about it, his heart ached so much that he wanted to cry.
Hearing him say it so quickly was somewhat unexpected. Zhao Fangye raised an eyebrow. It seemed that his little blockhead wasn’t always clueless.
Reaching out to lift his chin, Zhao Fangye’s eyes darkened as he stared intently at his clean face.
“I only want to do those things with you. No one else catches my eye. I only like you, you know? Little fool.”
After saying that, he lightly touched Song Huaixi’s lips with his own, leaving a fleeting kiss.
The warm sensation was gone in an instant. Song Huaixi pursed his lips, feeling somewhat unsatisfied.
Tilting his head back, his dark eyes stared unblinkingly at him.
Reaching out to tug on his sleeve, the look in Song Huaixi’s eyes was incredibly earnest, tinged with anticipation.
His heart began to beat rapidly again, and he held onto him, softly saying, “Really? Then can you not like anyone else and always like me?”
Such a face, untouched by even a trace of filth, with glistening lips.
At this moment, he looked up at him, his eyes unconsciously revealing dependence and longing.
Without answering his question, the look in Zhao Fangye’s eyes darkened, and his gaze fell on his face.
Zhao Fangye felt his heart skip a beat, and he tightened his hold on Song Huaixi’s waist, drawing him closer.
Tilting his head, he moved closer to Song Huaixi’s ear, his warm breath caressing his fair, slender neck.
His voice was low and seductive. “Huaixi, do you want to know what I want to do to you when you look like this?”
“Ah?” Blinking his eyes, unable to understand the meaning of his words, Song Huaixi’s eyes were full of confusion. “Do what?”
Faced with a face as pure as a child’s, Zhao Fangye really couldn’t bring himself to do anything beastly, especially since they were in the Song Mansion.
Suppressing his chaotic thoughts, Zhao Fangye scooped Song Huaixi up in his arms and strode towards the door.
“You haven’t answered me yet,” Song Huaixi said anxiously, wanting to know the answer as he was carried.
Zhao Fangye looked down at him, his lips curving slightly. “Since you don’t believe that I only love you, then let’s go back to the Ning Wang Mansion and ask that person yourself.”
Leaning in his warm embrace, Song Huaixi wasn’t as sad as before.
Although he wasn’t smart, he could sense what was good and bad. In fact, Zhao Fangye’s actions just now had made him somewhat believe that he was telling the truth.
Carrying him over the dilapidated gate, Song Huaixi, who had been quietly nestled in his arms, suddenly began to struggle.
He leaned on his arm, looking at the broken carved wooden door on the ground.
“Zhao Fangye! You broke my door! You have to pay for my door!” Song Huaixi pointed at the wooden door on the ground and shouted in dissatisfaction.
This was where he had grown up, and he cherished every plant and tree. The good wooden door had been kicked broken by Zhao Fangye.
Seeing that he was distressed about the wooden door, Zhao Fangye glanced at the ground. He shifted him in his arms so he wouldn’t fall and held him securely.
He coaxed softly, “Huaixi, don’t move. It’s my fault. I’ll have someone make you an identical one, okay?”
“Hmph, it’s all your fault,” Song Huaixi said a little angrily.
But seeing that he was coaxing him, he reluctantly said, “Okay, it has to be exactly the same, okay?”
Unable to contain his laughter, Zhao Fangye nodded. “Of course. Whatever Huaixi wants, I’ll give it to you.”
“Mama Zhang” had been guarding the courtyard gate. Seeing Zhao Fangye carrying Song Huaixi out, a look of surprise appeared on her face.
Zhao Fangye’s pale eyes looked at her, his voice without any inflection. “Go and fetch this Prince’s cloak.”
After such a commotion, it was already getting late. The winter wind in the capital was howling.
He had left in a hurry without taking his cloak. Song Huaixi was afraid of the cold, and he would surely freeze if he left the house like this.
Mama Zhang responded and quickly brought over his cloak.
Zhao Fangye put Song Huaixi down, took the cloak, draped it over him, and wrapped him up tightly. Looking at his somewhat thin figure,
He frowned. “You’ve only been back for a day, why do you look a little thinner?”
Hearing this, Mama Zhang immediately chimed in, “The Wangfei hasn’t eaten much these past two days. That’s probably why he looks so thin…”
Seeing that the atmosphere between the two wasn’t as bad as she had expected, Mama Zhang breathed a sigh of relief.
It seemed that the Wangye still had feelings for the Wangfei.
Hearing this, Zhao Fangye’s eyebrows furrowed. He took his slightly cold hand. “Let’s go, back to the mansion. I’ll have the palace cooks make some delicious food to nourish you.”
The two of them got into the carriage and returned to the mansion. Song Huaixi leaned on his shoulder and fell asleep as the carriage swayed.
Holding him in his arms, Zhao Fangye lowered his head to gaze at his sleeping face. Seeing the faint blue shadows under his eyes, he felt a pang of heartache.
He must have been eating and sleeping as poorly as he had these past few days.
Brushing aside the stray hairs on his forehead, he gently kissed him. Zhao Fangye stroked the top of his head, feeling somewhat remorseful.
“This time it was my negligence. I definitely won’t let you suffer any more grievances in the future.”
