Chapter 127: You’re Too Amazing, Sun Shu

There wasn’t much to pack; his belongings had disappeared without a trace when he entered Qi Meng Lou.

Following Sun Shu downstairs, Liang Xiuzhu was stunned as he watched him elegantly and swiftly vault onto his horse.

Sun Shu was tall and handsome, with sharp features. Dressed in a tight-sleeved, deep black robe secured at the waist with a scarlet leather belt. A long sword hung from the buckle. His beautiful, slender, and powerful legs were firmly planted in the stirrups.

His figure was upright with a wasp waist and ape back, the kind of manly figure he had always aspired to be. Looking at him this way, Sun Shu was quite handsome; not as annoying as before.

“What are you spacing out for?”

Seeing him standing there, not mounting the horse, Sun Shu frowned slightly. Suddenly, as if remembering something, Liang Xiuzhu probably couldn’t ride a horse.

So, he awkwardly extended his hand, his tone impatient, “Hurry up, don’t waste time.”

    “Oh, oh! Okay.”

Snapping back to reality, Liang Xiuzhu looked at the palm extended in front of him, quite naturally grabbing it and using his strength to get on the horse.

Once settled on the horse, Liang Xiuzhu very naturally grasped the fabric on either side of Sun Shu’s waist.

    “Okay.”

Feeling the slight touch on his waist, Sun Shu stiffened his back and coughed twice, saying, “Hold on tight, if you fall off, I won’t have time to care about you.”

“Alright, alright.” After so many things, Liang Xiuzhu wasn’t going to argue with him.

On the surface, Sun Shu always acted impatiently with him, but he would still help him. So, he was all bark and no bite.

Liang Xiuzhu grumbled in his heart, *Someone as magnanimous as me wouldn’t care.*

After traveling halfway, Liang Xiuzhu suddenly remembered that he hadn’t told him where he lived. But seeing the direction the horse was going, it was indeed toward his house.

“Sun Shu, how do you know where I live?” Liang Xiuzhu suddenly asked.

After a brief silence, Sun Shu said, “I ran into you on a mission. So, I know.”

“When?” Liang Xiuzhu was surprised to hear this, reaching out to thump him on the shoulder, his tone somewhat regretful, “Then why didn’t you say hello? I could have introduced you to my mother. We owe you a lot for what happened last time.”

“No time.” Sun Shu spat out two words, no matter how Liang Xiuzhu pressed him, he wouldn’t open his mouth.

The more naturally Liang Xiuzhu acted with him, the more uncomfortable Sun Shu felt. Perhaps it was a demon in his heart, suppressing the restlessness within.

Sun Shu ignored the chattering Liang Xiuzhu reaching out and pulled the reins, urging the horse to accelerate towards Liang Xiuzhu’s home.

An hour later, the two appeared at the door of the small courtyard.

“Mother, I’m back!” Liang Xiuzhu pushed open the courtyard door, beckoning Sun Shu to enter, “Come in.”

Sun Shu looked around, the yard was neatly arranged. But withered yellow leaves were scattered on the ground, unattended. The hen kept outside the yard was leisurely pacing, but there was no food on the ground.

The courtyard was quiet. It was already past noon. Logically, it shouldn’t be so quiet.

Sun Shu’s expression began to turn serious, thinking about how he hadn’t seen smoke rising from the chimney in the past two days, a sense of unease welled up.

Liang Xiuzhu didn’t receive a response and turned his head, intending to tell Sun Shu to wait, but unexpectedly saw the serious expression on his face, “What’s wrong?”

“Go into the house and take a look.” Sun Shu strode towards the house, Liang Xiuzhu followed closely behind, also feeling inexplicably panicked.

The courtyard had a total of three rooms, a kitchen, and a side room. The main hall and the two people’s residence was in the center. Entering the house, he didn’t see anyone in the main hall. As soon as he entered Jiang Wenyi’s room, he was stunned by the mess.

The entire room had been turned upside down, messy clothes piled on the floor, tables and chairs crooked on the ground, any valuables were gone.

    “Mother!”

Seeing the scene before him, Liang Xiuzhu’s heart stopped, crying out in alarm. Without time to care about the mess in the room, he quickly ran to the bedside.

Seeing Jiang Wenyi still lying weakly on the bed, without any injuries on her body, Liang Xiuzhu breathed a sigh of relief.

“Mother! Mother! Wake up.” Liang Xiuzhu called out several times but didn’t receive a response, his heart, which had just fallen, suddenly rose to his throat.

Panic-stricken, he reached out to feel Jiang Wenyi’s pulse and check her breath. Liang Xiuzhu’s face turned pale, knowing that her asthma must have flared up again.

Turning to look at Sun Shu, Liang Xiuzhu’s expression was flustered, his voice urgent, “Can you help me? Help me find a doctor. My mother is sick and needs acupuncture!!”

Seeing the urgency of the situation, Sun Shu nodded to him, “Wait.”

With that, he immediately turned around and strode towards the door. With a swift movement, he leaped onto the horse and hurried to find a doctor.

When Jiang Wenyi woke up, it was already an hour later. Liang Xiuzhu sat at the bedside watching the doctor put the silver needles back into the medicine box. Anxiously asking, “How is it? Is my mother alright?”

“She’s fine now, but the lady hasn’t eaten for two days.” Saying this, the doctor glanced at Liang Xiuzhu with dissatisfaction, “Are you her son?”

    “I am…”

“How are you taking care of your mother? Leaving her alone at home with no one to care for her. If it had been a few hours later, even a divine immortal wouldn’t have been able to save her.”

After speaking, the doctor stood up, preparing to leave, “In the next few days, cook some perilla seed porridge for your mother. It can calm the lung qi. Also, the medicine cannot be stopped. Your mother probably hasn’t taken her medicine for two days either.”

“Yes, thank you, doctor.” Liang Xiuzhu looked ashamed, looking at his weak mother on the bed, his eyes couldn’t help but moisten.

He was incompetent, not taking good care of Jiang Wenyi.

Sun Shu gave the doctor the medicine money and sent him out the door. Coming back, he saw Liang Xiuzhu sitting alone by the bed, wiping away tears.

It never rains but it pours. It was bad enough that he was deceived. Before he left, he hired a village woman to take care of Jiang Wenyi, but he didn’t expect that this action was like inviting a wolf into the house, and they had been stolen of their remaining money.

Sun Shu looked at his sadness, not knowing what to say. He tidied up the messy things on the ground, “The doctor said to cook perilla seed porridge, do you have it?”

“Yes… I do.” Liang Xiuzhu stood up and walked towards the kitchen. The most urgent task was to quickly make something for Jiang Wenyi to eat.

Walking and wiping his tears, Liang Xiuzhu told himself that no matter how difficult it was, life had to go on. Hadn’t they gotten through so many years?

Lighting the stove, Liang Xiuzhu began to cook the perilla seed porridge. Sun Shu was a little surprised to see him skillfully chopping firewood, boiling water, and cooking porridge.

He originally thought that with his otherworldly appearance, he wouldn’t be able to do these rough chores. But his movements were very skilled. This made Sun Shu even more curious about his past.

There were too many contradictions in this person.

The flames in the stove licked at the firewood, three or two pieces of firewood couldn’t satisfy its appetite at all. Liang Xiuzhu took the axe and swung his arms around, laboriously chopping the logs.

    “Give it to me.”

Seeing this, Sun Shu, who was standing by the side, reached out and took the axe from his hand, quickly and accurately splitting the logs into easily flammable pieces of wood.

Liang Xiuzhu stepped aside, squatting in front of the stove, taking the firewood Sun Shu handed over and adding it to the fire. Looking at Sun Shu’s effortless wood chopping, Liang Xiuzhu was very envious.

If he could be as strong as Sun Shu, wouldn’t he be able to find work more easily?

So, he couldn’t help but say, “You’re really strong, I wish I had your strength.”

Throwing the chopped firewood aside, listening to his praise, Sun Shu was very pleased. He felt as if he couldn’t use all his strength, so he chopped all the firewood piled against the wall in the kitchen, cutting them into sections and neatly stacking them.

    “Wow!”

When Liang Xiuzhu finished cooking the porridge and looked back, he couldn’t help but exclaim at the half-person-high pile of firewood by the wall, “You chopped it all so quickly? You’re too amazing, Sun Shu!”
