Chapter 93: I’m Not That Easy to Appease

Chen Zhuo returned to his room, locked the door, and immediately bounced the video call back to Xie Yu.

The ringtone rang for a long time before automatically hanging up. Xie Yu didn’t answer.

Chen Zhuo raised an eyebrow and murmured, “He’s really angry? Why did he get angry after eating his fill? It’s like he doesn’t recognize me after getting out of bed.”

Twenty or thirty kilometers away, Xie Yu, with a head of messy hair, sat upright at his desk. His phone was placed squarely on the desk.

Xie Yu stared at the darkened phone screen, crossed his arms, and swung his leg impatiently, grumbling, “Only called three times and he’s already lost patience? What kind of attitude is that! I’m not that easy to appease!”

Ten minutes later, Xie Yu’s eyes had almost bored through the screen.

He pondered, “If I proactively video call Chen Zhuo now, won’t that spoil him too much?”

But the famous entrepreneur, Mr. Xie Liangjun, once said, “A husband’s got to kneel quickly and swipe the card handsomely…”

Xie Yu rubbed the stubble on his chin with the back of his hand, comforted himself, and very smoothly picked up his phone.

However, before he could even “kneel,” Chen Zhuo’s video call popped up again.

Xie Yu “hmmphed” smugly twice, pretending to be nonchalant, and stubbornly waited for the ringtone to sound for thirty seconds before “reluctantly” answering, putting on an angry expression.

Chen Zhuo’s handsome face appeared on the screen, the dark circles under his eyes so obvious, indicating he hadn’t rested well.

Xie Yu immediately felt heartache again, forgetting about putting on airs, “Is your heart still beating fast? What’s up with Xu Qingyou? Why did he drag you to the hospital so early in the morning? Couldn’t he let you get some sleep!”

Chen Zhuo lay on the bed, blinking, “My body’s fine. Whose fault is it that I was called out in the middle of the night to fool around at a hotel?”

Xie Yu choked, stammering, “I, I, I… I swear, when I came to find you, my intentions were very pure. I just wanted to hold you and sleep for a while, really!”

Chen Zhuo chuckled softly, “Yeah, it’s my fault. I seduced you.”

Xie Yu moved his lips, unable to resist smiling, “What were you doing just now? Why did it take you ten minutes to make the fourth video call? Were you getting impatient?”

Chen Zhuo covered himself with the blanket, only revealing his head, “I wasn’t feeling well, so I was in the bathroom for a while.”

Xie Yu asked anxiously, “Where weren’t you feeling well? Did your stomach catch a cold?”

Chen Zhuo said bluntly, “I guess so. A plugged-up gut is still a gut.”

Xie Yu was stunned, his face flushing red, “Hey, why are you talking so crude? My fault, I got too carried away and didn’t control my strength.”

Chen Zhuo poked Xie Yu’s flushed handsome face through the screen, deliberately teasing him, “It’s okay, I like it heavy.”

Xie Yu rubbed his face, smiling, “Chen Xiaozhuo’er, you’re really asking for it.”

Chen Zhuo’s eyebrows and eyes were filled with a shallow smile, mimicking his tone, “Xie Xiaoyu’er, you’re so cute.”

Xie Yu was so charmed that he couldn’t suppress the corners of his mouth. He cleared his throat, “Stop grinning, I’m still angry, so be serious!”

    “Yes, husband.”

Chen Zhuo sat up, sitting straight, and said with a straight face, “Husband, am I serious enough now? Can you start criticizing me?”

Xie Yu was amused beyond words. He lightly touched his teeth with the tip of his tongue, lowered his head and laughed, “Chen Zhuo, you’re being opportunistic. It’s too unfair!”

Chen Zhuo couldn’t hold back his laughter, “Just don’t be angry anymore. It was my fault that I didn’t report to you. I didn’t sleep all night and I was too tired, so my brain wasn’t working fast enough.”

Xie Yu leaned back in his chair, humming and laughing, “What? You secretly went out with my rival in love without telling me, and it’s my fault?”

Chen Zhuo protested, “What do you mean secretly? I went out in the open. I’ll definitely tell you in a timely manner next time.”

Xie Yu pursed his lips, awkwardly asking, “Do you think I’m petty? Do you think I was too childish compared to Xu Qingyou when I talked to you like that in front of him? Do you think I’m too strict with you?”

Before Chen Zhuo could answer, he exploded, “But I’m just angry and annoyed! I know Xu Qingyou likes you, but I can’t stop you from seeing him, I can’t stop you from spending time with him. You two have ten years that I wasn’t a part of…”

Xie Yu felt that he must look stupid acting so insecure. He lowered his head, not letting Chen Zhuo see him, “I’m worried that you’ll think Xu Qingyou is better than me. He’s mature, stable, and successful. I’m childish, petty, and only good at cramming for exams. Will you… think he’s better than me?”

After he finished speaking, he secretly raised his eyes and glanced at Chen Zhuo on the screen, feeling uncomfortable, “Ugh, I know I’m being sour right now, but say something! It’s so embarrassing.”

Chen Zhuo’s drowsy mind became active. It turned out that he wasn’t the only one who felt insecure in this relationship.

He said seriously, “Of course I don’t think you’re childish or petty. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you being like this. I like you the way you are. I just like your silly appearance when you’re jealous. It makes me feel like you care about me. You’re the first person I’ve ever liked, and from now on, I’ll only like you.”

Xie Yu was easily appeased, “Really?”

Chen Zhuo nodded, “Of course it’s true! So don’t be angry and don’t worry. I only belong to you.”

    I only belong to you!

    I only belong to you!!

    I only belong to you!!!!

These five words echoed in Xie Yu’s mind, making his heart bloom, a whole heart full of joy!

Xie Yu pretended to be calm, but in reality, he was so happy that his mind was dizzy, “Alright, I’ll reluctantly forgive you this time. Don’t do it again.”

    Chen Zhuo nodded vigorously, “Okay!”

Xie Yu asked him with a smile, “When are you coming back from the Xu’s house?”

Chen Zhuo pondered, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll go back tomorrow. On the second day of the new year, we’ll visit relatives. I’m an outsider, so I definitely won’t be going.”

Xie Yu said without thinking, “Then I’ll pick you up. We’ll go home together.”

“Don’t be silly,” Chen Zhuo directly refused, “Just stay home and spend time with your family during the Spring Festival. Always running outside will raise suspicion. Besides, your grandparents and maternal grandparents are all there. The elders definitely want you around. We have plenty of time together. It’s only a few days.”

Xie Yu frowned slightly, “But I’m worried about you being alone at home. It’s the New Year, and everyone else’s home is lively. I’m afraid you’ll be lonely.”

Chen Zhuo smiled, not caring, “I’m used to it. Besides, I have you now, so I’m not lonely at all. We can chat and video call. Don’t worry about me.”

Xie Yu wanted to say something else, but suddenly heard his grandmother calling his name, “Xiaoyu? Grandson, come over and watch TV with Grandma!”

Chen Zhuo also heard it, “Okay, go keep Grandma company. I’m going to catch up on some sleep too. I’m so tired.”

    He yawned.

Xie Yu nodded, “Okay, go to sleep. I’ll chat with you when you wake up.”

Chen Zhuo “mmmed” and said goodbye with a smile, then hung up the video.

The world became quiet again, as if only Chen Zhuo was left.

He placed his phone next to the pillow, lay flat, and looked at the chandelier on the ceiling.

He suddenly realized that he had made Xie Yu his support in life and was becoming too reliant on him.

This wasn’t a good sign. No matter what, he should focus on himself.

    But he couldn’t control it…

Chen Zhuo sighed, burrowed into the blanket, and closed his eyes.

Whatever, even if he might get hurt in the future, he was willing, even delighted.
