    Chapter 79: Couldn’t Be?

The winter night was bitterly cold.

Chen Zhuo walked out of the hospital building and looked up at the VIP ward on the top floor, exhaling a puff of icy white breath.

He wondered if it was just his imagination.

In the second before the elevator doors closed, Xu Qingyou’s gaze towards him revealed a deep sense of unwillingness and sorrow, as if *he* was the one who couldn’t obtain the love he desired.

Chen Zhuo frowned slightly, the scarf around his neck, meant to ward off the northern wind, still seemed to hold some warmth.

Chen Zhuo selfishly hoped that it was all just a result of him overthinking things.

He didn’t want to lose Xu Qingyou as a family member; it was the only remaining bit of family he had left.

Footsteps sounded behind him, treading on the solid paving stones. Without even turning around, he could guess who it was.

As a strong arm draped across his shoulders, a cool earlobe was lightly nibbled at flirtatiously.

A familiar, nonchalant voice rang in his ear, carrying a hint of complaint and an almost imperceptible note of coquetry: “Your man has been waiting for you for over half an hour, what are you standing here like an idiot for?”

Hospitals were never short of people, and even late at night, people were still rushing around.

Chen Zhuo smelled the strong scent of alcohol on Xie Yu and pulled away slightly from him. “How much did you drink? You lush.”

Xie Yu chuckled softly, hooking his neck and walking towards the main entrance of the hospital: “You have the nerve to say that to me? You were completely out of it the other day. Besides, I didn’t drink that much, my alcohol tolerance is way better than yours, you little weakling.”

The moon was bright, but the stars were few. The shadows of the two people stretched out long and intertwined under the warm yellow streetlights.

Xie Yu finally noticed Chen Zhuo’s scarf, touched it, and asked in a drunken stupor, “Did you buy a new one? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you wear it before, it’s pretty soft. Get me one too, a matching couple’s one.”

Chen Zhuo sniffed, his nose not very clear in the cold air. “It’s Qingyou-ge’s. I’ll ask him for a link another day, but he probably bought it at a brick and mortar store.”

Xie Yu stopped in his tracks, rooted to the spot, glaring at Chen Zhuo with displeasure.

Suddenly, he yanked the scarf off his neck, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it as he jumped around: “No wonder it looks so old-fashioned! So ugly!”

Chen Zhuo was stunned for a moment, struggling to pull Xie Yu, whose strength had doubled after drinking, away from the scarf, not letting him step on it. “Hey, this is someone else’s scarf, are you okay? I still have to return it! Xie Yu!”

Xie Yu crossed his arms, watching Chen Zhuo pick up the scarf and pat it clean with a huff.

He then shouted: “Why do you have to wear another man’s scarf! You have a boyfriend, don’t you know a sense of propriety? He’s not even your real brother, you know?”

Fortunately, the people coming to the hospital late at night were all in a hurry and had no time to pay attention to their commotion.

In public, Chen Zhuo was annoyed and wanted to kick Xie Yu to shut him up, but the sentence “He’s not even your real brother” struck a heavy chord in his mind.

People always said that a dog’s intuition was more sensitive than a human’s.

Chen Zhuo had always thought that Xie Yu had a problem with Xu Qingyou because Xu Qingyou didn’t give him a good look on the first day of school.

But now, based on Xie Yu’s hostility towards Xu Qingyou, combined with the way Xu Qingyou looked at him just now.

Chen Zhuo kept having that absurd guess pop up: Could it be that Qingyou-ge is really gay? And even likes me?

    Couldn’t be?

I asked Qingyou-ge last time, and he clearly said that the person he liked was someone I didn’t know.

    Couldn’t be?

He has known me for so many years. Qingyou-ge has never expressed any hint other than brotherly affection? He even had me attend his engagement banquet, although the engagement fell through…

    Couldn’t be?

If he really likes me, then he must be able to endure it way too much, how can he hold it in? A ninja turtle?

Chen Zhuo grabbed the scarf, his expression complicated.

As his mind was filled with thoughts, Xie Yu’s face suddenly came closer, pressed against his forehead: “What are you thinking about? Quick, transmit the brainwaves to me! It wouldn’t be Xu Qingyou, would it?”

A dog’s intuition seemed to be more sensitive than a human’s indeed.

Chen Zhuo amusingly pinched his ear. “You say you’re not drunk! You childish ghost! This scarf is cashmere, it’s all covered in your footprints. You’re going to wash it properly for me when we get home, got it?”

Xie Yu was not convinced. “Why should I wash clothes for him? I’ve never even washed them for you.”

Chen Zhuo pinched his cheek. “Since you have this intention, I’ll leave my clothes to you to wash from now on.”

Xie Yu hugged his waist, rubbing his head randomly in his neck, feeling wronged: “How can this be? It’s too bullying, you’ve been smoked stinky by that ugly scarf.”

Chen Zhuo cautiously surveyed the surrounding environment and patted him on the back. “Okay, okay, stop humming, it’s freezing to death. The driver is still waiting. Where did you park your car? Let’s go home.”

Xie Yu pointed to the side of the road, to the McLaren sports car with its hazard lights flashing.

Chen Zhuo was silent. “Honey, if I’m not mistaken, that seems to be a two-seater sports car.”

Xie Yu said triumphantly: “Cool, right! Globally limited edition!”

Chen Zhuo supported his forehead. “So, you want me to sit on the roof? Or are you going to sit on the roof?”

Xie Yu pursed his lips, fell into thought, and then his eyes lit up. “Oh! I got it!”

Five minutes later, the chauffeur happily scanned a shared bicycle and left leisurely.

Because the McLaren’s trunk space was too small to accommodate the driver’s folding electric scooter, the order cost more than usual.

Chen Zhuo sat in the driver’s seat, gripping the steering wheel tightly, nervously saying: “Are you really letting me drive? I haven’t been on the road since I passed my driver’s license test, and this is a limited edition. If I scratch it, I won’t be able to afford it.”

Xie Yu tightened his seat belt, he was already tipsy, but now he was much more awake. “It’s okay, there are few cars on the road late at night, I’ll watch for you, don’t be afraid, you’re more valuable than it, I can always repay you with my body.”

Chen Zhuo looked at Xie Yu seriously. “I’m starting it.”

Xie Yu’s back was pressed against the seat back. “Hey! Or, or should we let the driver come back? I’ll sit on the roof.”

Chen Zhuo snorted, started the car, and stepped on the gas pedal.

All that could be heard was the engine roaring and buzzing, like a *ghost fire* youth tearing up the streets, rushing onto the road.

Chen Zhuo’s eyes lit up: “Wow, so cool!”

Xie Yu was completely awake. “Wife, I’m scared, slow down.”

Chen Zhuo attached great importance to travel safety, and only at the beginning was he not very adapted to the sensitive accelerator, and he hit eighty yards.

After adapting, he slowly drove in the slow lane at a speed of thirty yards.

Xie Yu saw that he had already gotten the hang of it, and the tense nerves relaxed a lot. “Wife, you let a Wuling minibus pass you.”

Chen Zhuo stared at the tattered car ass of the Wuling bread car in front of him, and said seriously: “Safety is the most important thing.”

    Xie Yu nodded in agreement.

After a while, he looked at the non-motorized vehicle lane next to him and said, “Wife, you’ve been overtaken by a Yadi electric scooter.”

    “What?!”

Chen Zhuo frowned and glanced to the right, then quickly looked forward again, gently tapping the accelerator to overtake the Yadi electric scooter.

“That’s too much! The national standard for electric vehicles limits the speed to 25! He must have removed the speed limit!”

Xie Yu couldn’t hold back his laughter. “Hahaha, damn, you’re so cute! I really want to f*ck you! Quickly, quickly, quickly go home!”
