    Chapter 77: Rust

Xie Yu looked at the sleazy man in the corner who looked utterly depleted and was getting handsy with his female companion.

He said in a low voice, “Sun Yaozong, what did you say?”

Sun Yaozong crossed his legs and taunted, “What’s the matter, Xie Yu? You want to hit me?”

This guy had known them since they were kids.

But Xie Yu had always disliked his cheap behavior of bullying classmates just because he had money, and had often beaten him up.

They had a pretty deep grudge. He didn’t know who had invited him this time.

Even Ling Qi didn’t seem to know he was coming, and no one spoke up. They probably just wanted to watch a show.

Ling Qi tugged at Xie Yu’s arm and whispered, “This bastard’s distant uncle got promoted. He’s acting like a dog with borrowed authority right now. He’s just got a foul mouth; don’t bother with him.”

Xie Yu glared coldly at the bastard, suppressing his anger.

It wasn’t that he was afraid of his uncle, but as a man with a “wife,” he needed to be more stable and not get worked up so easily.

However, someone mistook his indifference for fear.

Sun Yaozong became even more arrogant, saying, “I just can’t stand some people’s pretentious act, thinking they’re so pure and untouched by the mud. Let me tell you all—” *Ah—Xie Yu!*

Xie Yu admitted that he was still young, nineteen years old, at the age when he was easily provoked, full of youthful vigor.

He grabbed the glass beside him and smashed it over there. After a scream, there was an even louder, continuous wail.

Xie Yu didn’t even bother rolling up his sleeves, he pinned the foul-mouthed guy on the sofa and started punching him wildly.

Sun Yaozong cried out in pain, “Do you know what my uncle does! How dare you hit me!”

Xie Yu grabbed ice from the ice bucket and shoved it into his mouth, fiercely saying, “Do you believe I can drag your uncle down, and give you back your uncle!”

Seeing that things had come to this point, Ling Qi silently locked the door of the private room. Anyway, Xie Yu knew how to control his strength.

The others didn’t dare watch the show anymore and hurriedly went up to stop him. “Yu-ge, Yu-ge, he’s just drunk, don’t bother with him. It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, let’s talk nicely.”

Xie Yu patted Sun Yaozong’s face. “Son, apologize to my boyfriend! Otherwise, I’ll send you to the hospital for the New Year!”

Sun Yaozong cursed, “Xie Yu! Who do you think you are! You’re going too far!”

As Xie Yu’s fist was about to rise, he reflexively covered his head with both hands, squealing, “Ah—don’t hit my face! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, okay!”

Xie Yu scoffed and finally threw him aside.

He casually picked up the white wine on the coffee table, expressionlessly rinsed the broken skin on his knuckles, and slammed it heavily on the table. “Let me hear anyone gossiping about my boyfriend behind his back, and see what happens.”

The other young masters looked at each other, not understanding why Xie Yu was so angry when his boyfriend wasn’t even there and hadn’t even shown his face.

Xie Yu looked at Sun Yaozong, who had been beaten and didn’t dare to leave, his face mournful, and said coldly, “Did you hear me!”

Sun Yaozong covered his face, gave him a resentful look, and then lowered his head like a coward. “I heard you. It was just a joke, did you have to hit so hard?”

Xie Yu sat on the sofa, crossing his legs in an unruly manner, and smiled brightly, “Everyone, let’s continue having fun.”

Ling Qi sat down next to Xie Yu, poured him a glass of wine, and looked at him with a half-smile. “Yu-ge, are you serious? What’s with your guy? Is it true love or something?”

Xie Yu picked up his glass and clinked it with Ling Qi’s. “Nonsense, what else? Don’t you know me? Once I’ve made up my mind, I’ve made up my mind.”

Ling Qi rubbed his buzz cut in confusion and said helplessly, “Okay, but what about your aunt and uncle? This isn’t a small matter.”

Xie Yu tossed back the wine, his eyes darkening. “Tsk, we’ll talk about the future later. A road will always appear before the car reaches the mountain. Can they kill me? Beating me up a couple of times is fine too, anyway, I can take a beating.”

Ling Qi shook his head with a smile, sighing, “It’s really a pain to have a son like you.”

Xie Yu kicked him and scolded with a laugh, “Get lost, shave your dragon fruit head before you talk about me. Has the old man let you in the door yet?”

Ling Qi laughed, “What dragon fruit head? This is called trendsetting, do you understand?”

As the two were drinking, Xie Yu’s phone vibrated. Ling Qi leaned over to look.

Darling Little Zhuo’er: [Uncle Xu suddenly has an intestinal obstruction and is undergoing surgery. I just arrived at the hospital and might be home very late. Drink less alcohol.]

    *Ding-dong.*

Spoiled Little Wild Boar: [I won’t be done here for a while either. Which hospital are you at? I’ll come find you later. There’s a bad flu going around recently. Wear a mask in the hospital and don’t get infected.]

Chen Zhuo sat on the waiting chair outside the operating room. So, this was the feeling of being cared for. It was nice.

After sending his location to Xie Yu, he replied: [Okay]

Zheng Fei was still on a business trip out of town. Only he, Xu Qingyou, and the chairman’s secretary, who was busy running around, were waiting outside the operating room.

Chen Zhuo put away his phone and looked at Xu Qingyou, comforting him, “Qingyou-ge, the doctor said that as long as an intestinal obstruction is treated promptly, surgery will fix it. Don’t worry too much, Uncle will be fine.”

Xu Qingyou withdrew his gaze from the tightly closed operating room door. “The Jiahe neighborhood is thirty kilometers away from here. It’s so late, and you still came over. Thank you for your trouble.”

Chen Zhuo was drawing in the study at the time. Xu Qingyou called to tell him about going home for the New Year’s Eve, and he learned that his father had been rushed to the hospital. Out of reason and sentiment, Chen Zhuo had to come over.

However, the distance wasn’t that far, after all, he now lived in Xie Yu’s house, and the taxi only cost twenty yuan.

Chen Zhuo changed the subject and asked, “Should we tell Aunt about this?”

Xu Qingyou “Mm”ed, “My mom is too busy with work, she won’t be able to come back until the day after tomorrow at the earliest.”

Chen Zhuo didn’t know what to say. Sometimes he felt that the Xu family lacked a bit of warmth. “Aunt probably just thinks Uncle is fine, and besides, you’re here.”

Xu Qingyou chuckled softly, “Even if my dad’s life was hanging by a thread today, my mom would finish her project before coming back. Of course, vice versa, my dad would do the same.”

Chen Zhuo pursed his lips. That was the truth. During his ten years in the Xu family, his biggest feeling was that Uncle Xu and Aunt Zheng weren’t like husband and wife, but more like partners who had signed a lifetime contract.

Xu Qingyou glanced to the right at the family also waiting for their relative to undergo surgery. It seemed like all the aunts, grandaunts, and great-aunts had come. “Sometimes I’m quite envious of other families. Although there are also conflicts of interest, quarrels, and even broken relationships, there is warmth.”

Chen Zhuo scratched his head. “Well, every family is different. At least you have a mom and dad. My parents are both dead. When you think about it that way, can your heart be a little more balanced?”

Xu Qingyou said helplessly, “You rascal, how could I seek balance at your expense?”

Chen Zhuo smiled, “I was just saying it casually, to comfort you.”

Xu Qingyou’s mood relaxed a lot. He still looked in the direction of the operating room and said softly, “Zhuo, do you know? After you were brought to the Xu family, I felt like home was really home.”

Chen Zhuo’s heart was filled with bitterness. “I understand, Qingyou-ge, you treat me better than your own brother. I feel the same way. In my heart, you are my only family.”

The corners of Xu Qingyou’s mouth dropped three pixels, and he suddenly felt a headache. It seemed like his and Chen Zhuo’s gaydar had both rusted.

The chairman’s secretary bought two cups of hot drinks and brought them over.

Chen Zhuo took a cup and held it in his hands. As he lowered his head, it pulled at his neck, revealing half of a fresh mark.
