    Chapter 2: Unloading the Goods

“General Manager Xu, the school has expanded its enrollment this year, and dormitory space is already tight. Many four-person rooms have been adjusted to six-person rooms. Besides, it’s only the first day of school, and they haven’t even gotten familiar yet. What will the other students think if we change dorms?”

Principal Zhang thought of the library that the Xu family had built for the school free of charge, so he still had to give Xu Qingyou some face.

“How about this, General Manager Xu? When the new students enroll next year, I’ll have the dormitory management department reassign them both, or see if any other students want to switch dorms. We can arrange a swap.”

Since the principal had said this much, Xu Qingyou couldn’t say anything more. “Alright, then I’ll have to trouble Principal Zhang.”

Principal Zhang gave Cheng Tangyu and Xu Qingyou some face and didn’t give them any punishment, so the matter was considered resolved.

Cheng Tangyu earnestly said, “Xie Yu, your mother and Chen Zhuo’s mother were roommates back then. The fact that you two are assigned together is fate. You must get along well, help each other with everything, understand?”

Xie Yu didn’t like listening to her nagging, perfunctorily replied with two “uh-huhs,” turned around, and waved his hand. “Okay, okay, I’m going back to the dorm. Bye-bye.”

Cheng Tangyu clearly saw the deep, blood-soaked tooth mark on the back of her son’s hand, and motherly love made her feel a little sorry for him.

But it had to be said, Chen Zhuo really had good teeth; they were also neatly aligned.

The heat of September hadn’t dissipated, the sun was shining brightly in the sky, and hot sweat was pouring down.

Xie Yu, with a palm print on his face and scratches on his neck, swaggered into the school supermarket.

It was the first day of registration for new students, and there were many people.

His height of nearly 1.9 meters and his eye-catching appearance quickly attracted gazes, both open and furtive.

But the amazement at the handsome guy was quickly burned away by the fire of gossip. For a time, only mouse-like whispers and the crackling of phone typing filled the supermarket.

Xie Yu ignored it all. He’d rather have people think his private life was intense than have them know that he had gotten into a fight.

He grabbed two popsicles, scanned the codes, paid, and left. He held one popsicle in his mouth and pressed the other against his face.

Xie Yu was sweating, and the scratches on his neck stung. The more he thought about it, the more aggrieved he felt.

Chen Zhuo was really ruthless. That fierce energy was like he wanted to peel off a layer of his skin; he was simply a madman!

Xie Yu squinted his eyes, stung by the sunlight, and saw Xu Qingyou and Chen Zhuo standing in the shade in front of the dormitory building.

He didn’t give up the opportunity to be sarcastic, and as he brushed past them, he said faintly, “Hey yo, deep brotherly affection!”

Chen Zhuo glared at him coldly and mouthed the words “Shark Arm.”

Xie Yu saw it; he never knew he was so good at lip reading.

He twitched the corner of his lips, viciously finished the last bite of the popsicle, and casually threw the stick into the trash can.

He also mouthed, “You wait, you’re going to die.”

What was he saying with his mouth opening and closing? Like an idiot.

It was too long; Chen Zhuo couldn’t understand it, so Xie Yu’s threat had no power at all.

Xu Qingyou only heard Xie Yu’s sarcasm and didn’t see the explosive interaction between the two.

The Patek Philippe on his wrist pointed to 3:30 in the afternoon. He took out a card and handed it to Chen Zhuo. “Take this card. The password is your birthday. I’ll deposit money into it once a month at the beginning of the month. You’re a student; studying hard is your main task. Don’t think about anything else.”

Chen Zhuo didn’t take it, refusing, “Qingyou-ge, the Xu family has already been more than kind to me. I still have my parents’ compensation money; I can support myself.”

Xu Qingyou’s expression didn’t change, and his dark eyes seemed to want to see through him. “Did someone say something to you? Or did you hear something?”

Chen Zhuo uncomfortably turned his face away. “No, can’t I want to be independent now that I’m grown up? Are you addicted to being a father?”

Xu Qingyou’s tone was a little sterner. “Chen Zhuo.”

Chen Zhuo “tsk”-ed, scratched his hair, took the card, put it in his pocket, and muttered, “You really are my dad.”

“Don’t talk nonsense.” Xu Qingyou smiled, and his sharp eyebrows and eyes were dyed with gentleness. He reached out and touched Chen Zhuo’s head.

Chen Zhuo’s hair color was naturally a little light, and it shone golden-brown in the sun. It was slightly naturally curly, which made Chen Zhuo look very well-behaved.

“There’s still something at the company; I have to go. Call me if anything happens, and don’t cause trouble.”

Xu Qingyou thought of Xie Yu’s arrogant and unruly expression and added, “But don’t be afraid of trouble either.”

“Dad, I know. Drive safe. Bye.” Chen Zhuo waved his hand and turned to enter the dormitory building.

Xu Qingyou watched Chen Zhuo’s back disappear around the corner without looking back, sighed helplessly, and quickly walked toward the parking area.

He had put down a meeting that was halfway through to rush over; he was truly a heartless fellow.

Chen Zhuo’s dorm was at the end of the second-floor hallway. It was a four-person room with desks over the beds and a private bathroom with a shower.

The only drawback was that there was no air conditioning; there were only two broken fans that “creaked and groaned!”

Except for Xie Yu, the three of them had all switched from a five-year system to a four-year system in the incredibly difficult architecture major. He didn’t know how Xie Yu, a business school student, had been assigned to their room.

Before Chen Zhuo pushed open the door, he heard laughter inside. Young people became familiar with each other after just a few words.

Xie Yu was standing under the fan shirtless, his muscles smooth and compact. Sweat dripped down his spine into his waistband. Every inch of his physique contained a fiery explosiveness.

He formed a stark contrast with the pale, skinny physiques of the other two roommates.

He heard the movement and glanced askance at Chen Zhuo.

Zhao Jiashu and Li Ang sensed the gunpowder in the stuffy air and quickly broke the strange silence. “Zhuo’er, you’re back! It’s hot outside, right?”

“It’s hot, so hot that the trash cans are fermenting. Everywhere smells like garbage.”

Chen Zhuo flicked away the strands of hair that were wet with sweat, revealing his smooth forehead, and picked up the unfinished yogurt on the table.

Xie Yu walked over with a displeased expression, grabbed the handrail at the top with one hand, and trapped Chen Zhuo between the bed ladder and himself.

Their beds were the old-fashioned kind, with the ladder perpendicular to the ground and two beds sharing one ladder.

Xie Yu was half a head taller than Chen Zhuo, and his arms were full of vigorous strength. His tall, solid physique was very oppressive.

His bone structure was handsome and sharp, and he was quite intimidating when he didn’t smile, staring at Chen Zhuo darkly.

Chen Zhuo had nowhere to retreat, his back pressed against the bed ladder, which hurt his bones.

He calmly drank his yogurt, his right wrist wearing a delicate silver chain bracelet with carved patterns that refracted shards of light, landing in Xie Yu’s pupils.

Chen Zhuo met Xie Yu’s wolf-like, dangerous gaze without dodging or avoiding it.

Xie Yu narrowed his eyes and patted Chen Zhuo’s handsome face lightly with the back of his hand, threatening, “Little thing who hasn’t been weaned, be honest this year, don’t provoke me, or I’ll beat you to death.”

Chen Zhuo’s complexion was fair, and his face quickly turned slightly red. He tilted his head, wanting to dodge Xie Yu’s hand.

Xie Yu mistakenly thought Chen Zhuo was going to use his teeth again and was startled.

Chen Zhuo curled the corners of his mouth in an extremely contemptuous smile and said, word by word, “Unloading the goods.”
