ASSHKHME Chapter 104
by VolareChapter 104: Treatment
Jiangbei Third People’s Hospital, specializing in mental illnesses.
Inside a ward in the inpatient area, Chen Zhuo lay on a pristine white hospital bed, hooked up to instruments that monitored his heart rate in real-time. With the doctor’s permission, he was being questioned by the police.
The medication had calmed Chen Zhuo considerably, and he spoke methodically, “Officer, Sun Yaozong threatened me with a video of me and my boyfriend kissing, to make me go with him. As you know, homosexuality isn’t widely accepted by the public. If the video were leaked, I wouldn’t be able to attend school peacefully.”
The questioning officer was a middle-aged woman. Before questioning Chen Zhuo, she had investigated him. Chen Zhuo’s thick medical records and tragic life story tugged at her maternal heart, but she still had to act impartially.
She kept her eyes on Chen Zhuo, observing his expressions. “So you went with him? Didn’t you consider the potential dangers?”
Chen Zhuo said slowly, “I sent my boyfriend my shared location. I believed he would come and save me.”
The police officer continued, “Alright, what happened after that? Tell me everything in detail.”
Chen Zhuo met her gaze openly. “He took me to that villa, saying he wanted me to have some tea and watch the rain. He wanted to talk to my boyfriend. He had a switchblade in his hand, gesturing with it in front of me. I knew he was just using me to threaten my boyfriend. I didn’t want to be a tool for him to threaten Xie Yu, so I took advantage of his carelessness and scratched him with my necklace. He tried to stab me with the knife, but he was too slow. I took the knife from him and kicked him over.”
The police officer flipped through Sun Yaozong’s statement, then looked up at Chen Zhuo. “Since you had already subdued him, why did you continue to attack? Sun Yaozong said you wanted to kill him.”
Chen Zhuo blinked, tilting his head to look at the incessant rain outside the window. “No, I didn’t want to kill him. It’s just that the blood on his face was too red, too glaring, reminding me of how my parents died. Officer, my mental state hasn’t been good lately. With the gloomy weather and the thunder, my heart was beating so fast, my hands were shaking, and all I could see was blood. I couldn’t control myself…”
Before he could finish speaking, another clap of thunder sounded. Chen Zhuo visibly flinched, and immediately the heart rate monitor emitted a “beep, beep” sound, his heart rate rapidly spiking.
Noticing Chen Zhuo’s distress, the police officer immediately stopped the questioning. She was about to call for a doctor when the door to the ward was pushed open.
Xie Yu rushed in, disregarding the presence of others in the room, and gently pulled Chen Zhuo into his arms, covering his ears. “It’s okay, it’s okay, don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
The police officers exchanged glances, noticing that the heart rate monitor had returned to a stable reading.
Xie Yu turned to them. “Officers, my boyfriend’s mental state isn’t good. Let’s end it here for today.”
The police officer nodded. “Alright, then we’ll take our leave. Mr. Xie, we’ve received the report you filed regarding Sun Yaozong’s group sex activities. We may need your cooperation with the follow-up investigations.”
Xie Yu nodded. “I will definitely cooperate. Thank you for your hard work.”
Only the two of them remained in the ward. The only sound was the patter of rain against the window, falling ceaselessly.
Chen Zhuo leaned against Xie Yu, feeling the familiar and comforting aura of safety. His eyes felt sore. “Your parents know.”
Xie Yu’s cool fingers stroked the corner of Chen Zhuo’s eye, then lifted to cover his eyelids. “They were going to find out sooner or later. Don’t think about it. Your health is the most important thing right now. When did you start taking medication? You never told me.”
Listening to Xie Yu’s steady and strong heartbeat, Chen Zhuo swallowed the lump in his throat. “It’s not that serious. I only take it when I feel unwell. Today was just an accident.”
Xie Yu pinched his earlobe, gently rubbing it. “You have a lot of nerve, Chen Zhuo. He told you to get in the car, and you just got in? When I saw the message, I was scared out of my mind. If I didn’t see that you were feeling unwell, I would definitely spank you. You little rascal, you just need a beating.”
Chen Zhuo looked up, touching Xie Yu’s flushed face. “You got a beating, didn’t you? Did your aunt and uncle get very angry?”
Xie Yu took Chen Zhuo’s hand, bringing it to his lips and pressing it there, then said softly, “My dad was quite angry, but my mom was alright. They just can’t accept it for the time being. It’s okay, we’ll take it slow, no rush.”
Chen Zhuo lowered his eyes, speaking pessimistically, “Xie Yu, we’ve made a big mistake. I feel terrible. Your aunt has been so good to me, but I lied to her…”
Xie Yu sighed, lifting Chen Zhuo’s chin, forcing him to look up. He kissed his swollen and tear-reddened eyelids with tenderness. “You didn’t do anything wrong. You’re just in love with me. What’s wrong with that? I’m the one who made the mistake. I was too headstrong, not considering the consequences of my actions. I even dragged my parents into this mess. If I had been more mature, if I hadn’t beaten up Sun Yaozong, if I hadn’t made an enemy of him, maybe none of this would have happened today.”
Chen Zhuo protested, “What mistakes did you make? That bastard deserved a beating! He purely deserved to die!”
Xie Yu chuckled softly. “Right, it’s all that bastard’s fault. We won’t reflect on ourselves, okay? Be a good boy and sleep. The doctor said you need to rest well. Close your eyes, I’ll stay here with you.”
The hospital bed was too small, so Xie Yu could only sit beside it, tucking Chen Zhuo in with the blanket.
Chen Zhuo closed his eyes, then opened them again, hesitating. “You should go back and stay with your aunt. I’m fine, you don’t need to stay with me.”
Xie Yu covered his eyelids with his palm, feeling the ticklish sensation of his eyelashes brushing against it.
“You just go to sleep. My mom has her husband with her. Your husband needs to stay with you too. Besides, my dad gets so angry when he sees me now that he might have a stroke. I’ll go see him tomorrow, after he’s calmed down.”
Forced to close his eyes, Chen Zhuo moved his lips, wanting to say something more.
But before he could speak, his lips were suddenly nipped, followed by a kiss.
The frequency of the fluttering eyelashes under Xie Yu’s palm resembled the flapping of a small moth’s wings.
Xie Yu gently laughed against the corner of his lips, pretending to be fierce. “Go to sleep, or I’ll eat your tongue.”
Just as he finished speaking, the ward door was pushed open. It was the attending physician, accompanied by a nurse, making their rounds.
Xie Yu removed his hand from Chen Zhuo’s eyes, only to see that Chen Zhuo was still stubbornly keeping them closed, pretending to be asleep.
But the active numbers on the heart rate monitor betrayed him.
The doctor looked sternly at the nurse. “Why is his heart rate still so high? Did he take his medication?”
The nurse replied, “Yes, I saw him take it.”
The doctor frowned. “It seems the dosage isn’t enough. If it keeps jumping like that, it will put too much strain on his heart. Let’s give him an injection.”
Chen Zhuo quickly opened his eyes, saying awkwardly, “Doctor, I’m fine. The medication is working pretty well, I don’t need an injection.”
The doctor glanced at him. “Such a big boy and still afraid of injections? It’s just an IV drip, it won’t hurt.”
Chen Zhuo looked at Xie Yu with pleading eyes.
Having enjoyed the show enough, Xie Yu finally spoke up. “Doctor, he’s fine. His heart rate was quite stable just now. It’s only like this because I kissed him.”
Doctor: “…………”
Nurse: “…………”
Xie Yu: “^ω^”
Chen Zhuo silently pulled the blanket over his face, pretending to be dead.
