    Chapter 102: Threat

The rain was heavy, forming a continuous line as it slammed against the ground.

Puddles rippled, shattering and reforming Chen Zhuo’s reflection repeatedly, haloing the dim yellow light of the street lamps.

Chen Zhuo slightly raised his umbrella, watching the Audi driver expressionlessly through the rain.

They’d had an unpleasant encounter in the stairwell of the Cloud Top Hotel five months ago.

Chen Zhuo searched his deep memory for the name: Sun Yaozong.

Why was this guy at the entrance of Jiangbei University? Did he come specifically to find me? Why?

Did what Xie Yu was doing tonight have something to do with Sun Yaozong?

Chen Zhuo was filled with doubts, his thoughts swirling. A strong, ominous premonition, like bamboo shoots after rain, kept popping up, forming a dense web that enveloped his heart and tightened.

Could it be that his relationship with Xie Yu had been exposed? Was the reason for Aunt Cheng’s premature birth…

The northern wind blew rain onto Chen Zhuo, damp and cold, the headlights reflecting his pale face.

Chen Zhuo’s chest felt tight, his heart pounding erratically. His hand in his pocket gripped the two pills he’d snipped from the blister pack.

Despite the undercurrent of emotions, Chen Zhuo’s face remained calm as he said softly, “Do you need something from me?”

Sun Yaozong’s eyes were bloodshot, his facial expression distorted. He took out his phone, played the surveillance video, and grinned, “If you don’t want your classmates and teachers seeing this video, get in the car and come with me.”

Through the endless rain, Chen Zhuo stared intently at the video, imperceptibly tightening his grip on the umbrella handle.

His tone was unreadable, “Did you send this surveillance footage to Xie Yu’s parents?”

Sun Yaozong’s face changed drastically. He slammed the steering wheel hard, cursing, “So what if I did! Damn it, if Xie Yu, that little bastard, hadn’t backstabbed me, I wouldn’t have been stuck at home for four months! If you still want to go to school, get in the car now!”

So he was right. Cheng Tangyu must have seen this video, which is why she was so upset that she had a premature birth! No wonder Xie Yu was hesitant to tell him why his mother was angry.

A fierce glint flashed in Chen Zhuo’s eyes. He casually scanned the surveillance cameras on the side of the road, then suddenly yanked open the passenger door, tossed the umbrella aside, and slammed the door shut with a bang.

Sun Yaozong was startled by his decisiveness. After a few seconds, he chuckled, thinking he had Chen Zhuo under control.

He said smugly, “That’s right, a wise man submits to circumstances. I have a grudge against Xie Yu, but we don’t, so I don’t want to hurt you.”

The Audi’s taillights lit up, and it sped away.

Chen Zhuo calmly observed the car’s route. His fingers tapped quickly on the phone screen in his pocket, then he scoffed, “Let me guess, Xie Yu found out about it, and you chickened out? Your methods are too crude. It hasn’t even been a day.”

Sun Yaozong instantly lost his composure, yelling, “Shut the fuck up! I can’t deal with Xie Yu, but I can’t deal with you? Behave yourself!”

Chen Zhuo looked disgusted and covered his left ear, “Speak, what do you want me to do?”

Sun Yaozong’s eyes swept over Chen Zhuo.

This happened so suddenly, Xie Yu definitely won’t let him go. If this gets to his dad, even if Xie Yu doesn’t beat him to death, his dad will!

He’d been locked up at home for four months, and his bank cards were all suspended. The last bit of money he had was used to bribe the security guard at the Cloud Top Hotel to get that video. None of his friends dared to go against the Xie family. He couldn’t find any help, so he came directly to Chen Zhuo in desperation.

He didn’t expect things to go so smoothly, tricking Chen Zhuo into the car without any effort.

This guy really is just a pretty face. Sun Yaozong didn’t take Chen Zhuo seriously. He looked delicate and well-behaved. He must be the submissive type that guys screw. What kind of man is a man screwed by another man! A disgusting second-rate!

Sun Yaozong smiled smugly, “It’s nothing big, I just think that Xie Yu and I can shake hands and make peace, after all, he screwed me over first! I just want you to help. I think Xie Yu cares about you, so if you say something, he’ll listen.”

Chen Zhuo turned his head to look at the night scene blurred by the rain. The car was heading towards the northern part of the city. “You want to use me to threaten Xie Yu?”

Sun Yaozong tutted, “Don’t make it sound so bad. I just want everyone to sit down and talk. I promise, once this is resolved perfectly, I’ll delete the video and make sure it doesn’t affect your future.”

Chen Zhuo said softly, “Is that so? Then I’ll definitely have Xie Yu come and have a good chat with you.”

It seemed Sun Yaozong didn’t know that his despicable act had caused Xie Yu’s mother’s premature birth; otherwise, he wouldn’t be daydreaming about shaking hands and making peace.

Sun Yaozong drove the car into a detached villa, reassuring him, “Don’t worry, this is my property. You can just drink tea and watch the rain. I’ll contact Xie Yu.”

The car stopped in the garage, the rain lessened, and the environment became quiet.

Chen Zhuo clicked open the seatbelt, pushed open the car door, and got out. He looked around, not seeing any surveillance cameras. Even if there were, Sun Yaozong would probably turn them off today.

Sun Yaozong locked the car and held a switchblade in his hand, seemingly casually waving it in front of Chen Zhuo. He said with glee, “Let’s go, we’ll talk inside. I’ll make you a cup of tea, and you can just sit and wait for Xie Yu.”

Chen Zhuo hummed in agreement and took two steps toward the living room. Suddenly, he grabbed the key necklace around his neck, whirled around, raised his arm, and slashed across Sun Yaozong’s face without hesitation, instantly drawing a streak of blood.

Sun Yaozong didn’t expect Chen Zhuo to suddenly turn on him. He clutched his face and howled. He flicked out the blade and lunged at Chen Zhuo, “Fucking faggot! You don’t know what’s good for you! I’ll fucking kill you and let Xie Yu collect your corpse!”

Chen Zhuo quickly sidestepped, dodging the knife, and swiftly grabbed his wrist, twisting it forcefully. A “crack” sounded as the switchblade fell to the ground.

Sun Yaozong immediately let out a pig-like scream, “Ahhhhh, my hand! Ahhhh—”

Chen Zhuo kicked him away without mercy, picked up the switchblade from the ground, spun it in his hand, and then gripped it tightly.

He looked indifferently at the pig’s head wailing on the ground and squatted down condescendingly, using the tip of the knife to point at his neck, “Your stupidity is truly breathtaking.”

Sun Yaozong’s eyes widened, afraid to breathe, his face still bleeding.

He stammered, “You, you, what do you want to do?! Murder is illegal! Do you know who my uncle is! If you touch me, you’ll die too!”

Chen Zhuo narrowed his eyes slightly. In the blood, his memories flashed back to the rainy night eleven years ago and the viscous, bloody smell.
