    Chapter 73: Easy to Appease

    Chapter 73: Easy to Appease

On a winter’s morning, a cool breeze brushed against the face. The rising sun cast its first rays upon the plastic running track of the residential area, gentle and serene.

Two figures moved along the peaceful track, jogging slowly into the morning light, one in front of the other. The boy behind sported fluffy, light golden hair, the strands at his forehead falling constantly as he ran, obstructing his view.

Yu Zhanrong exhaled a shallow breath of white air, which quickly dissipated like light smoke.

Once again, he couldn’t help but reach up and sweep back the slightly prickly hair, fully revealing his handsome face. His delicate features shimmered enchantingly in the morning light.

Ahead of him, a tall man was jogging at a steady pace. This man had clearly slowed down, his steps unhurried, as if waiting for the person behind to catch up.

At this moment, Yu Zhanrong inwardly lamented: I really should examine myself three times a day!

Yu Zhanrong, oh Yu Zhanrong, what kind of foolishness have you committed? How could you fall for a honey trap?

How could a simple breakfast from a handsome man make you abandon your principles?

In this cold weather, isn’t it wonderful to stay in a warm and cozy bed?

The more he thought about it, the more he regretted it. He didn’t want to move, didn’t want to run.

Who invented this damned morning run? Whoever loves to run can run, he certainly doesn’t want to run at all.

Just as Yu Zhanrong decided to stop and give up on this torturous morning run, Song Baiyan, as if he had eyes in the back of his head, said leisurely without turning his head, “How about I add an egg if you persevere a little longer?”

    Yu Zhanrong: “…”

    Such blatant temptation?

Is he a man who can be conquered by a single egg?

Song Baiyan said softly, “Just hang in there a little longer, until we reach downstairs, okay?”

Yu Zhanrong glanced at the figure in front who had slowed down again, gritted his teeth and said, “…Okay.”

    Alright, he is!

The food temptation from his senior brother is simply irresistible.

While jogging slowly, Song Baiyan used the corner of his eye to observe the figure behind him, who was clearly a bit dejected. Seeing him struggle for a long time but still choose to follow, a hint of a smile flashed in his eyes.

He already understood how much his junior brother liked noodles. Just a bowl of noodles and an egg were enough to trick him.

He’s really easy to satisfy and very easy to appease.

And so, Yu Zhanrong followed closely behind Song Baiyan for the entire run. No matter how slowly he ran, as long as he looked up, Song Baiyan was always less than two meters away from him.

After stretching together, Yu Zhanrong was brought back to Song Baiyan’s house.

The heating was on inside, warm as spring. Yu Zhanrong was now sitting quietly in Song Baiyan’s dining room, waiting with a cup of hot milk in his hands.

Song Baiyan was busy in the kitchen with his back to Yu Zhanrong, the hair at the nape of his neck slightly damp. Yu Zhanrong touched the back of his own neck.

Okay, he didn’t sweat much at all.

Song Baiyan’s tall and upright figure, just watching it from afar, made people feel incredibly secure and at ease.

He had an apron tied around his waist, the pink straps contrasting somewhat incongruously with his broad frame, even a bit comical, but at the same time inexplicably exuding a sense of warmth.

Huh, he didn’t seem to have this apron last time he was here. Did he just buy it? So pink, quite the girly heart.

Thinking this, he couldn’t help but ask, “Did you just buy this apron?”

Hearing this, Song Baiyan lowered his head and glanced at the pink apron he was wearing, a trace of helplessness on his face. “Guan Yanzhi bought it.”

    “Is it ugly?”

Seeing him frown, staring at the apron on his body with a helpless expression, Yu Zhanrong couldn’t help but curve his eyes and praise with a smile, “It’s pretty, very pretty, especially girly.”

Seeing this, Song Baiyan feigned anger and said, “You dare to tease your senior brother? You’ve got some nerve, huh?”

Yu Zhanrong shrank his neck and said with a grin, “I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare.”

He said he wouldn’t dare, but his face didn’t show any sign of it. He seemed much more relaxed than before.

Song Baiyan suddenly remembered the comments he heard in the live broadcast about Yu Zhanrong pretending to be well-behaved and couldn’t help but narrow his eyes, thoughtfully sizing up the junior brother in front of him.

Yu Zhanrong didn’t notice his gaze but looked at the closed bedroom door.

Song Baiyan noticed and took the initiative to say, “Ah Li is still sleeping. She was excited all night yesterday after seeing you.”

    Yu Zhanrong covered his face.

He wanted to slap himself twice. Why did he look around like that? Wasn’t this just leading Song Baiyan to think about what happened yesterday again?

“Oh, oh,” Yu Zhanrong said stiffly, “Ah, Senior Brother, are the noodles ready yet? I’m so hungry.”

Song Baiyan glanced at him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, not calling him out on it.

A few minutes later, Song Baiyan walked out of the kitchen carrying two bowls of noodles and saw Yu Zhanrong staring straight at the bowls, unconsciously swallowing his saliva.

“Are you so hungry that you’re drooling?” Song Baiyan pushed the bowl in front of him, the steaming mist instantly clouding Yu Zhanrong’s face.

Song Baiyan took off his apron and sat down opposite him.

Yu Zhanrong didn’t say a word, quickly picked up his chopsticks, stirred the noodles a few times, and hey, two round fried eggs popped out.

He poked the fried eggs with his chopsticks happily, his eyes curved into a smile: “Senior Brother! There are two!”

In the hazy white mist, Yu Zhanrong’s eyes sparkled, pear dimples hanging on his cheeks, looking just like a child who had received candy, pure and adorable.

A sense of indescribable satisfaction suddenly arose in Song Baiyan’s heart. He liked taking care of this little fish so much, liked seeing his satisfied smile when he ate something he liked.

“Senior Brother, how did you suddenly think of asking me to go for a morning run?” Yu Zhanrong asked vaguely with noodles in his mouth.

Today’s run was slow, and the time wasn’t long, barely within his acceptable range, but he still didn’t want to run.

Because the heating was on at home, Yu Zhanrong took off his jacket as soon as he came back. To make it easier to eat, he also rolled his sleeves up high, revealing his slender arms and clearly visible collarbones.

Song Baiyan was silent for several seconds before slowly opening his mouth and saying, “With your constitution, I’m really afraid that one day you’ll faint at home and no one will know. I’m your senior brother and also your neighbor, so it’s my responsibility.”

    “I…” won’t…

“Don’t say you won’t.” Song Baiyan glanced at him. “You often have stomachaches, right? And you’re a little low on blood sugar?”

    Yu Zhanrong was speechless.

    Just because of this?

Yu Zhanrong curled his lips, and he couldn’t tell whether he was more nervous or more disappointed.

After a while, he seemed to react and muttered, “Then you’re actually quite nice!”

Song Baiyan choked on his words.

He inexplicably received a good person card.
