ATPN Chapter 7
by VolareBlinding sunlight sneaked in through the gaps in the curtains. Yu Zhanrong turned over, the sunlight hitting him directly in the face. He frowned, raised his hand to shield his eyes, and after a while, squinted as he sat up.
His head a mess, he opened his eyes and looked around. All he saw was unfamiliar. After a moment of confusion, he remembered where he was now.
Recalling what had happened yesterday, he fell back onto the bed, staring blankly at the chandelier above him.
As if suddenly remembering something, Yu Zhanrong’s expression tightened. He grabbed his phone and glanced at it. With a carp-like leap, he jumped up and quickly changed his clothes.
“Crap! It’s already past nine o’clock. How can I sleep in on my first day staying at someone else’s house?”
Last night, after Song Baiyan rubbed his head like that, he was already so sleepy he couldn’t keep his eyes open. Who knew that after returning to his room, he would become wide awake within minutes.
The more he lay there, the more excited he became. In the end, he had to play several rounds of games to barely suppress it, and then he overslept.
When Yu Zhanrong opened the door, Song Baiyan was sitting at the dining table. Hearing the sound, he looked up. Yu Zhanrong subconsciously took a half step back into the doorway, smoothed his messy hair, took a breath, and then went out sheepishly.
Seeing that he was up, Song Baiyan greeted him, “Go wash up first, then come over for breakfast.”
“Okay.”
He washed up as quickly as possible and sat down opposite Song Baiyan. Breakfast was already laid out in front of him.
“What are your plans next?”
He guessed that Yu Zhanrong must have had a conflict with his family to run away from home. Judging from his clothes, he knew that his family’s conditions were good. After all, the Southern Suburbs Villa District wasn’t a place where ordinary families could live.
Yu Zhanrong took a bite of his sandwich and looked up when he heard the question. He did have his own plans, but he had never experienced anything like this before, and he didn’t understand many things. He was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to handle it well.
He had been thinking last night that when Song Baiyan had time, he would ask him for advice. After all, he was three years older and had much more experience than him.
He swallowed the sandwich in his mouth before saying, “Senior, I want to rent a place first, and then find a part-time job to do. I can find a part-time job, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle renting a place…”
Song Baiyan was originally planning to help. After all, he was the one who brought this kid back.
He had just graduated from high school, and he seemed so simple and easy to fool, too trusting of others. Honestly, Song Baiyan always felt that this kid would get cheated if he went out on his own.
The fact that he could be easily brought home was the best proof of that. As his senior, he should try to look after him a bit.
Song Baiyan: “Do you have any requirements for the apartment?”
“It should have good soundproofing, be close to Hua University, and…” Yu Zhanrong hesitated for a moment, thinking of his wallet, and added, “It should be cheap.”
He was currently short on money. He still needed to buy voice acting equipment, pay rent, and live his life. If Old Yu didn’t give him tuition, he might have to pay it himself. There were too many places to spend money.
Song Baiyan glanced at him and immediately understood that his family was controlling his financial lifeline.
“I’ll ask around first.” Song Baiyan thought for a moment and then asked, “Close to Hua University? Did you apply to Hua University?”
Yu Zhanrong mumbled “Mm-hmm” twice, secretly glancing at the person across from him. His slightly flickering gaze met Song Baiyan’s thoughtful gaze, and Yu Zhanrong hurriedly lowered his eyes and picked up his milk to drink.
“I applied to Hua University, but the acceptance letter won’t arrive so soon.”
Song Baiyan raised an eyebrow, he was quite confident.
“So confident you’ll be accepted? Hua University’s admission scores aren’t low every year.”
“Cough.” Yu Zhanrong pursed his lips, “Who are you looking down on? My score exceeded last year’s Hua University admission score by nearly 20 points. It’s definitely a sure thing.”
But he pretended to be uncertain and said, “I should be accepted… probably.”
“What was your score on the college entrance exam?”
Yu Zhanrong’s eyes lit up. He raised his chin, waiting for praise, “676!”
Song Baiyan chuckled, gently patting his head and praising, “Very good, excellent score. So, you’re going to be my junior again?”
Feeling the warmth from his head, Yu Zhanrong narrowed his eyes in pleasure. He looked like a cat being petted.
Song Baiyan’s eyes flickered slightly. The kid’s appearance was quite similar to his Ah Li.
Yu Zhanrong was overjoyed by the praise. Hearing his question, he subconsciously nodded, “Yes, I just want to be with…”
The string in his mind suddenly buzzed. Yu Zhanrong suddenly widened his eyes.
“Crap, I spoke too fast again.”
Could he have been exposed?
He looked up.
Sure enough, Song Baiyan was raising his eyebrows, with an “I see” expression on his face, and a faint smile on the corner of his lips.
His fingers tapped the table one by one. Yu Zhanrong’s heart beat up and down in rhythm with his movements, until he heard what he said, and it suddenly went out of control.
Song Baiyan said, “With what? With me, to continue our relationship and become my junior again?”
What “continue our relationship”?!
Yu Zhanrong’s face turned red at those words. He stammered for a long time, unable to say anything. Finally, he mumbled in a last-ditch effort, “No, no, it’s just that I want to go to Hua University.”
The kid’s skin was too thin. A single joke turned his face completely red. Song Baiyan enjoyed the “peach blossom face” enough before saying, “Just teasing you. Hua University is the best school in Hua City. It’s normal to choose it.”
Hearing this, Yu Zhanrong sighed inwardly in relief. His heartbeat gradually returned to normal. “That’s good, that’s good…”
Seeing his relieved expression, Song Baiyan found it amusing. “Isn’t it?”
“Yes, yes, yes.”
Song Baiyan asked again, “What major did you apply for?”
Yu Zhanrong said in a weak voice, “Broadcasting and Hosting.”
Song Baiyan raised his eyebrows in surprise, a little surprised. With such a high academic score, he actually chose an art-related major? No wonder he ran away from home.
An unapproved decision, wanting to take a trip even if he hits the south wall, he was quite similar to him back then.
“Not bad. The College of Arts is in the same district as us, very close.”
Yu Zhanrong rested his chin in his hand, suppressing the joy that was about to overflow, and asked, “Senior doesn’t think I’m wasting my talent?”
After filling out the application, he heard those words the most. Many people came to dissuade him, but his senior was indeed different.
“Of course not–” After only saying four words, Song Baiyan stopped abruptly. He knew that his little junior was good-looking, but this appearance was too attractive…
“Liking it is very important. If you’re willing to put in a lot of effort for this liking, how can you say it’s a waste of talent? Everyone pursues different things…”
Yu Zhanrong rested his cheek on his hand, his eyes growing brighter as he listened, filled with sparkling light. Song Baiyan seemed to see his own reflection in those moist eyes.
The gaze focused solely on him, the undisguised worship made Song Baiyan’s heart tighten. It was hard to believe that the little junior he had picked up on the road had such strong feelings for him.
Was it all worship?
