ATPN Chapter 52
by VolareChapter 52: Not Saying
Yu Zhanrong walked out of the classroom, avoiding the strange gazes, and finally breathed a sigh of relief, feeling much lighter.
He looked back at Song Baiyan and realized he had a small habit: tapping the desk lightly with the back of his pen when listening to others speak.
Perhaps Yu Zhanrong’s gaze was too blatant. Song Baiyan stopped tapping the desk and tilted his head slightly.
Yu Zhanrong was startled and ran subconsciously. The classroom for the next class was upstairs. By the time he realized it, he was already sitting in the classroom.
Yu Zhanrong: “…”
Class hadn’t started yet. Yang You was playing games. Hearing the movement beside him, he stared at the phone screen and asked, “Class hasn’t started yet. Why are you running? You’re panting like that.”
“I didn’t run, just walked a little faster…”
God knows why I ran…
Yu Zhanrong silently took out his textbook and placed it on the desk.
Yang You finished a game and, after staring at the “Game Over” screen for a while, put away his phone.
“Your meeting was about the sports meet, right? The next big school event is the winter sports meet.”
“Yeah.”
“What events are you planning to sign up for?”
Yu Zhanrong: “…”
“What events do you think I’m suited for?” Yu Zhanrong was speechless, rolling his eyes inwardly.
Yang You thought seriously for a moment, then sized up Yu Zhanrong’s face and small frame. “How about the cheerleading squad?”
“Cheer your—!”
“Hey, no, don’t get angry.” The more Yang You thought about it, the more feasible it seemed. He grabbed Yu Zhanrong’s arm and analyzed,
“Don’t be so irritable. Look, with your face on the cheerleading squad, you’ll definitely crush the cheerleading squads from other classes. With your encouragement, our classmates will definitely perform exceptionally and maybe even get first place or something.”
“You’re daydreaming!”
Yu Zhanrong pulled away Yang You’s hand, saying ruthlessly, “Don’t touch me.”
Yu Zhanrong really had no athletic ability. Whenever he had a PE class, the only thing he could think of was asking for leave. He was most afraid of the physical fitness test, which always took half his life.
Signing up for sports meet events was even more impossible. No need to even think about it. “This is the job of the sports committee member. Understand your responsibilities, okay?”
The sports committee member, Chu Hao, silently raised his hand in the back seat. “The sports meet is a collective effort. Everyone is encouraged to sign up.”
Yang You gave him an approving look. Yu Zhanrong drew his thumb across his throat, and Chu Hao withdrew his hand. “Never mind, I didn’t say anything.”
Yang You didn’t give up, saying earnestly to Yu Zhanrong, “It’s not good for your health if you don’t exercise at all. Start with the cheerleading squad, and then…”
Yu Zhanrong picked up his textbook, preparing to leave this place of trouble. What should you do if you have a roommate who keeps coming up with terrible ideas to persuade you to exercise?
Sigh, better to hide first.
Seeing that he was about to scare him away, Yang You quickly grabbed him. “Okay, okay, I won’t say it anymore.”
Yu Zhanrong looked suspicious. “Really not saying it anymore?”
“No saying, no saying.”
Good heavens, how dare he say anything more?
But Yu Zhanrong’s physique really needed more exercise. Touching the other’s warning gaze, Yang You fell silent. He chose to surrender.
The next day at noon, Yang You had something to do and left the school. After class, Yu Zhanrong packed a meal for himself and returned to the dorm with a cup of bubble tea.
No one was in the dorm. Liu Yi and Tang Wei hadn’t returned yet. Yu Zhanrong didn’t have much appetite, so he ate a few bites casually, tidied up, and lay down on the bed.
When he woke up again, his roommates had returned. Probably afraid of waking him, they were speaking very softly. Yu Zhanrong listened carefully for a while and realized they were playing games.
“These opponents are too terrible. It’s so easy to win. Awesome, so awesome! Hahahaha!”
“Damn, keep it down.”
“Oh oh, I know, I know. It’s just too exciting. Getting carried to victory is so awesome.”
They were actually complaining that the other team was terrible?
Weren’t they always the ones getting crushed?
Yu Zhanrong was still wondering when they started another game.
Tang Wei was the first to notice Yu Zhanrong getting out of bed. During a break from playing, she looked up from her phone screen and quickly pointed to his desk, saying, “Brought you dinner. Eat it quickly.”
“Damn, Weiwei, hurry up, hurry up. There’s someone here.”
“Coming, coming.”
Yu Zhanrong nodded. He was indeed a little hungry.
After going to the bathroom, he sat in his chair, opened the box, and ate two bites slowly, his eyes lighting up.
The taste was actually quite good.
Liu Yi defeated the enemy who came to attack, relaxed a lot, and finally had time to look at Yu Zhanrong.
Seeing him eating happily, he said smugly, “Delicious, right? It’s a new store that just opened on Student Street. Knew you’d like it.”
“Mmm. So delicious,” Yu Zhanrong said, his voice muffled as he ate.
Yu Zhanrong liked to eat pasta, especially the kind with chewy noodles and thick soup. Everyone in 311 knew that.
“Who are you three playing games with?” It was rare to see them playing games so excitedly.
Before, they always sighed or blamed each other when playing games. Now they were all talking trash and scolding the other team for being terrible. There must be a skilled player leading them.
Yu Zhanrong guessed right. There was indeed a skilled player leading them.
Yang You touched his nose and took over the conversation, saying casually, “Someone upstairs.”
“…”
Upstairs?
Yu Zhanrong thought about it, wondering who he knew upstairs, and suddenly had a flash of inspiration.
“Could it be that…”
“Hahahahahahahahaha,” Liu Yi couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “You can guess it with just one try.”
Tang Wei also couldn’t help but smile. “It’s the person you’re thinking of.”
Oh this.
He still remembered how Yang You cursed Fang Jingtong behind his back, calling him inhuman.
Now they were comrades-in-arms who could play games together?
Something seemed to have happened that he didn’t know about.
“What are you laughing at? If you’re so capable, don’t come!” Yang You said, embarrassed and annoyed. “Remember my sacrifice well.”
Liu Yi quickly shut his mouth and begged for mercy. He still wanted to win a few more games. Without the great player leading them, they would just get crushed.
The dorm was filled with laughter and joy. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Yang You and the others were having fun playing games, and no one looked up. Tang Wei, staring at her phone, shouted, “Yuer, open the door.”
Yu Zhanrong swallowed the noodles in his mouth, quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe his mouth, and swayed over to open the door.
Seeing the person, Yu Zhanrong was stunned. Instantly, he felt a burst of air rising from his stomach, bubbles popping in his throat.
“Hiccup~”
Yu Zhanrong hurriedly covered his mouth, his eyes clear and bewildered, as if he wasn’t the one who made the sound.
There was a moment of silence. The continuous hiccups were especially prominent in the empty hallway. Yu Zhanrong covered his mouth in despair.
“Who is it? Scared our little Yuer into hiccuping.” The busybody, classmate Liu Yi, stretched his neck to look at the door.
“Uh, hello, Senior Brother Song.”
“Senior Brother Song.”
“Senior Brother Song.”
The juniors all respected this amazing senior brother and greeted him one after another.
Song Baiyan nodded in response, his gaze landing on Yu Zhanrong. He was wearing home pajamas, and a few strands of hair stood up on his head, swaying gently. It was clear that he had just woken up.
“I came to…”
“Hiccup~” The sound muffled in his hand.
Holy crap!
“Hahahahahahahahahaha”
