Chapter 106: Sharing Dusk, Sharing Snow (End)

The time spent together is always short. The trees along the school’s boulevard withered and turned green again, and two years passed in a flash.

The scorching summer is the announcement of graduation, a farewell, and also a departure.

Song Baiyan, who was about to graduate, was so busy every day that his feet barely touched the ground. He couldn’t find any time to juggle both school and work.

Even though they lived together, Yu Zhanrong sometimes couldn’t even see him. He was frequently on business trips, especially lately, running to A City every day.

Yu Zhanrong hugged Ah Li and nestled on the sofa, waiting for him. Tomorrow was the graduation ceremony, and Song Baiyan had told him he would be back tonight.

Just as he was dozing off, the door opened with a “beep.” Yu Zhanrong rubbed his eyes and sat up, looking towards the door.

He saw Song Baiyan standing in the living room, having changed his shoes, with open arms and smiling eyes as he looked at him: “Come here, let Senior Brother give you a hug.”

Yu Zhanrong woke up instantly, his eyes curving as he ran over and jumped onto Song Baiyan. Song Baiyan hugged him and gently bounced him, saying, “Gained a little weight.”

“Senior Brother, aren’t you just weakened from working overtime every night?” Yu Zhanrong retorted, not wanting to be outdone.

Song Baiyan’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he hugged him with one arm: “Let me check and see just how weakened I am!” With his other hand, he pressed down on Yu Zhanrong’s head and kissed him.

The sofa was occupied by the two owners, and Ah Li went to the bedroom, feeling wronged.

Suddenly, a sound of something breaking came from the bedroom, followed by a hurried meow. Yu Zhanrong snapped out of his daze and pushed Song Baiyan: “Senior Brother~”

Song Baiyan saw out of the corner of his eye that the cat had already come out and was fine, so he pinched his chin and continued.

Yu Zhanrong was concerned about the sound and pushed Song Baiyan again.

Song Baiyan took a deep breath and stood up, brushing Yu Zhanrong’s hair back from his forehead and saying through gritted teeth, “You’re getting good at tormenting people, aren’t you?”

As he spoke, he bent down to pick him up and walked towards the bedroom, Yu Zhanrong’s hot cheeks pressed against his skin, and he didn’t say anything, his eyelids trembling.

“It’s my mint–” Before he could finish, he was thrown onto the bed, and Song Baiyan leaned over to kiss him: “Just seeing it is enough, we haven’t finished checking yet.”

“Ugh, Senior Brother, my mint should still be salvageable, ah!”

Song Baiyan gasped and held him down, saying in a low voice, “Baby, how about salvaging your Senior Brother first?”

It was unknown what time it was in the early hours of the morning when Song Baiyan, wearing only a pair of pajama pants, squatted on the ground, salvaging the pot of mint that Yu Zhanrong cherished, which had been knocked over by Ah Li.

Ah Li seemed to know that he had done something wrong and stood beside him, watching him clean up, then meowed.

Song Baiyan immediately turned his head: “Quiet!”

After a while, a sound came from the bed: “Senior Brother?”

“Here, baby,” Song Baiyan’s hands were covered in dirt as he turned to answer him, “Go to sleep, I’m saving your mint.”

Yu Zhanrong blinked and got out of bed, squatting next to him.

Song Baiyan glanced at his legs and raised an eyebrow: “Your legs aren’t sore anymore?”

He hadn’t felt anything before, but when asked, he suddenly started to tremble a little. Yu Zhanrong silently climbed back into bed, dragging a pillow over to lie on his stomach and watch him from the bedside.

“It’ll be fine in a while, go to sleep if you’re sleepy.”

Yu Zhanrong hummed and remembered something, asking him, “Did you invite my parents to the graduation ceremony tomorrow?”

Song Baiyan’s hand paused. “Yeah, they just told you?”

“Hmph,” Yu Zhanrong snorted from his nose, “You didn’t see Old Yu’s smug look, saying you had invited them long ago.”

Song Baiyan chuckled: “It was quite early. They also want to come and see, so they’ll have experience when you graduate.”

    “Yeah.”

“The speech is in the afternoon, you don’t have to come so early…”

    “Ugh.”

When the chat devolved into just answering, he was basically asleep. Song Baiyan looked up and saw that Yu Zhanrong was already asleep.

Song Baiyan’s eyes were filled with affection as he gently kissed his hair: “Good night, my Yu’er.”

    Graduation ceremony day

“Damn it! Yu’er, hurry up, we’re going to be late. Stop fussing, you already look great!” Song Baiyan’s speech was about to begin, but Yu Zhanrong was still fixing his appearance. Yang You was pacing anxiously, wishing he could drag him away.

He naturally wouldn’t miss Senior Brother’s graduation. Yu Zhanrong glanced at the time and quickened the pace of fixing his hair. He had to look good when taking a photo with Senior Brother later.

He took one last look in the mirror, grabbed the camera on the table, and ran. After Song Baiyan’s dedicated coaching over the past two years, the Poppy was no longer the same Poppy.

He ran downstairs very quickly, crossed the long cement road outside the dormitory building, and ran towards the auditorium, only stopping at the door.

Yang You followed behind him, panting with one hand on his shoulder, and couldn’t help but sigh: “Senior Brother Song has really taken good care of you.”

Yu Zhanrong turned his head to look at him, puzzled, and then touched his face: “Have I gained weight again? That shouldn’t be.”

    “…”

“I mean, you can run a lot faster than before,” Yang You rolled his eyes, “Seeing how busy you are every day, you actually have time to exercise.”

Yu Zhanrong touched his nose. Of course, he had to exercise. He remembered what the old rogue Song had said in his ear one night, and his ears turned a little red.

    “If I don’t exercise, I’ll fall apart.”

Because of this sentence, he couldn’t look directly at the exercise equipment at home for a while, but he would go running every day without fail.

He just didn’t expect to be tricked again. The old rogue didn’t tell him that even if he exercised, he would still fall apart.

He even went to Song Baiyan to argue about this, and Song Baiyan replied calmly: “You’re exercising, but I haven’t stopped either.”

Yang You also didn’t expect that one question would make the person in front of him blush, not knowing what indescribable scene he had thought of, and couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

“Okay, stop showing off your love, it’s so annoying,” Yang You said, “You’ve been together for so long, you old married couple, who are you blushing for?”

    Yu Zhanrong reflected on himself.

He could only say that Senior Brother’s skill was too deep, he was never a match, and always ended up defeated.

Yang You pushed him: “Stop spacing out, your Senior Brother is on stage. Wow, he doesn’t even have a speech draft? Awesome.”

Yu Zhanrong snapped out of his thoughts and turned his gaze to the stage. On the left side of the stage was a lectern, and Song Baiyan was standing behind it, speaking eloquently.

Yu Zhanrong looked at the dazzling person on the stage and suddenly dreamt back to the time when he first met Song Baiyan, also in such an auditorium. They were like now, one giving a speech on stage, and the other looking up in the audience.

Yu Zhanrong’s vision blurred, but in this haze, he met those eyes full of love. The owner of those eyes raised the corners of his mouth but didn’t look away.

Yu Zhanrong only felt his heart beat violently, his mind blank. He didn’t know how to think anymore.

Song Baiyan looked at the audience below and said with a smile: “I’m actually a very lucky person. I’m very glad that I also gave such a speech four years ago, and someone remembered me through my speech and came to my side…”

“Oh my god! Yu’er, he… he… he’s not going to propose, is he??? Ah!!!” Yang You widened his eyes exaggeratedly. He looked eagerly at Yu Zhanrong, wanting to find an answer from him, but this person’s eyes were glazed over, looking like he was about to cry.

Yang You didn’t dare to move him and retreated silently, covering his mouth.

“Propose, propose!!!” A female voice almost resounded throughout the auditorium, the excited voice even cracking.

Another girl sitting next to her tugged at her and shouted along, “Propose quickly!!”

The auditorium was in an uproar, and the calls of “propose” almost overturned the auditorium. The school leaders were infected by the atmosphere and couldn’t help but sigh, “Youth is so good!”

Tan Ying, sitting in the parents’ seats, couldn’t care less about how many people were around and shouted with red eyes, “Son, go for it!!”

Song Baiyan seemed oblivious to the enthusiasm below the stage. He just stared at Yu Zhanrong and silently mouthed, “Yu’er, come here.”

He clearly didn’t make a sound, but Yu Zhanrong felt that the voice was deafening, and the blood in his body almost boiled. His feet uncontrollably walked towards the stage.

A voice in his head said: Go, run, the person you love is waiting for you ahead!

When he came to Song Baiyan’s side, Yu Zhanrong’s heart seemed to settle down.

When he saw Song Baiyan kneeling on one knee like the male lead in the online proposal video, his knees suddenly softened, and he wanted to kneel down with him and have a husband and wife bow right there on the stage.

Someone supported his knees with their hand, and Yu Zhanrong’s eyes were full of confusion. He bent down and reached out to pull Song Baiyan, his voice choked with emotion: “Senior Brother, don’t kneel, get up quickly.”

Song Baiyan held his hand in return, gentle and affectionate: “My friends all say I’m picky and meddlesome, will you dislike that?”

Yu Zhanrong shook his head desperately.

“Many people also say that I’m possessive and controlling, will you be afraid?”

Yu Zhanrong’s tears were about to fall.

“You’re only a sophomore, with unlimited possibilities, but I insist on you giving me an answer now. The future is so far, and the rest of our lives are so long, are you willing to share dusk with me, and share the snow?”

“I’m willing, I’m willing, please get up quickly!”

On the hand that was originally empty, a ring was now worn. Song Baiyan rubbed his finger with satisfaction, thinking: I’ve got him!

Song Baiyan held Yu Zhanrong’s hand and bowed to the audience together. The auditorium erupted with applause, sending the two students off the stage with blessings.

Yu Zhanrong was filled with excitement, but also shy. But the sweetness in his heart couldn’t be concealed. Being proposed to so solemnly in front of so many teachers, students, and parents, to him, it was like: I’m telling the whole world that I love you, and I’m asking this world to witness how much I love you.

Yu Zhanrong didn’t say anything after coming down from the stage. Song Baiyan squeezed his fingers: “What’s wrong?”

Yu Zhanrong sniffed and said: “Why did you steal my thunder? I can also stand in your place and announce to everyone that I love you. Couldn’t you have waited three more years?”

Understanding what he meant, Song Baiyan laughed, but he shook his head and said: “I can’t, I can’t wait.”

“You’re becoming more and more outstanding, and more and more dazzling. I don’t have a sense of security. I’m afraid that after graduation, when I’m not here, someone will steal you from me.”

Yu Zhanrong’s mouth turned up as he listened, and he squeezed Song Baiyan’s hand and said: “I’ve only liked you, and I’ll only like you.”

Sure enough, the most beautiful words in this world are the love words of a lover.

Song Baiyan smiled brightly, a kind of joy that welled up from the bottom of his heart, like the dawn breaking through the early morning. He looked at Yu Zhanrong with a full of shimmering light, raised their interlocked hands to his lips, and kissed them lightly, saying: “Okay.”

Yu Zhanrong smiled with curved eyes.

In his youth, he hid a bright moon in his heart, and after growing up, he was embraced by the moonlight.

    My heart is complete.
