ATPN Chapter 101
by VolareYu Zhanrong took off his shoes, propped his feet up, and lay down on the double sofa, closing his eyes with a satisfied sigh.
It had been a long time since he’d felt so relaxed at home, ever since he left during the summer vacation. He felt like the past six months had been a lifetime, like he had lived a small part of his life.
He studied the major he wanted, did what he loved, loved the person he loved. Although Old Yu was initially opposed, he had provided support along the way, and even accepted his boyfriend.
“Old Yu, you’re pretty awesome,” Yu Zhanrong praised with his eyes closed.
Yu Sheng looked over, surprised by the nonsensical praise. The little brat had his eyes closed, as if he was talking in his sleep. He didn’t say anything.
After a while, Yu Zhanrong said again, “Your son is pretty awesome too.”
Yu Sheng: “…”
He rolled up a book and lightly tapped Yu Zhanrong’s forehead, mocking, “You’re so awesome. How many times have you come home in the past six months? Is this place a dragon’s den that’s going to eat you?”
Yu Zhanrong sat up, covering his forehead, and was about to let out a yelp when he was interrupted, “Don’t pretend, I didn’t even use any force. Oh right, you act so tough in front of your mom and me, why are you so well-behaved in front of others?”
Old grudges were suddenly brought up, and Yu Sheng got more and more energetic as he spoke, looking at Yu Zhanrong with disdain. “Your senior brother is closer than your own family, right?”
“Hey~ Old Yu, why would you say that?” Yu Zhanrong sat cross-legged on the sofa, shaking his head and swaying as he drawled, “That’s your daughter-in-law, of course, we have to be close.”
Yu Sheng was stunned, thinking he had misheard. The words he wanted to say were stuck in his throat for a long time. “Daughter-in-law?”
“What are you talking about, daughter-in-law?” Zhan Yue came over with a fruit platter, first forking a piece and handing it to Yu Zhanrong, before handing one to the bewildered person next to him.
Yu Sheng pointed at Yu Zhanrong. “Your son said he found you a daughter-in-law.”
Zhan Yue’s hand trembled, almost dropping the fruit platter on the ground. Yu Sheng quickly reached out to catch it and placed it on the coffee table, averting a tragedy.
Zhan Yue sat down next to Yu Zhanrong, seeing him still looking carefree, and snatched the fork from his hand, anxiously saying, “Don’t eat yet, quickly tell me what’s going on. Did you have a change of heart?”
“What are you talking about? Nothing like that.”
His fruit was snatched away. Yu Zhanrong’s hand stretched out unwillingly towards the fruit platter, wanting to grab another apple, but was ruthlessly slapped back by his mother.
“Speak first, then eat.”
Yu Zhanrong rubbed the back of his hand, glanced at Yu Sheng, rolled his eyes, and with lightning speed, snatched a piece from his dad’s hand and stuffed it into his mouth before settling down.
Still acting like a child, Zhan Yue couldn’t bear to watch. “With your cheap behavior, wouldn’t Song Baiyan want to beat you up?”
“Dare he?!”
Before Yu Zhanrong could speak, Yu Sheng had already glared and slammed his thigh. Zhan Yue glanced at him speechlessly, thinking there was no need for that.
Yu Zhanrong forked another piece of apple, leaned back into the sofa, glanced at the two of them, and waved his hand. “Stop acting around and hinting. My senior brother is coming to our house tomorrow. Go prepare.”
The couple exchanged a look, and each gave the bear child a flick on the forehead.
At the same time, in the Song family living room, Madam Tan was extremely worried after hearing that her son was visiting his future in-laws’ home for the first time tomorrow. She frowned and paced back and forth in the living room.
As if thinking of something, she stopped and suddenly asked, “Son, what if Rongrong’s parents don’t agree with you two being together and give you a huge check to leave him? What do you do?”
Sitting on the sofa, Song Baiyan was momentarily at a loss for words.
This idea was truly amazing.
But Song Weiquan, who was standing next to her, replied without hesitation: “What’s there to be afraid of? If that’s really the case, then we’ll give double and bring him back!”
Madam Tan’s eyes lit up. “That seems possible.”
Song Baiyan: “…”
Were they afraid that his future in-laws wouldn’t kick him out the door? What were they messing around for?
He looked at Song Weiquan, who was blindly agreeing with his wife, and said speechlessly: “CEO Song, watch less urban romance dramas with your wife. You’re overthinking the plot.”
“How are you talking? Mind your own business. You can’t even handle your own affairs and need my wife to worry about you. How dare you talk about me?” Song Weiquan said with a look of disdain.
Unexpectedly, one sentence brought so much dissatisfaction from CEO Song. Song Baiyan glanced at his dad.
The phone on the coffee table suddenly lit up, attracting the attention of the family of three. Song Baiyan calmly picked it up, and a flood of emoticons assaulted his eyes.
[Yu. :[Throwing a tantrum]]
[Yu. :[Beacon fire Da Lun hand]]
[Yu. :[Doing somersaults]]
He flipped back a bit before finally seeing something useful.
[Yu. :My parents said I’ve gotten fat, it’s all your fault!!!]
Song Baiyan couldn’t help but smile after reading it several times, replying: The revolution has not yet succeeded, you’re still too thin. Senior brother will continue to work hard.
After a while, another message came.
[Yu. :Compared to me, they’re more excited about you [Shocked], as if you’re their biological son.]
[Yu. :Maybe it’s like parents-in-law looking at their daughter-in-law, the more they look, the more satisfied they become]
Madam Tan, holding the cat, paced back and forth in front of Song Baiyan. “Is it Rongrong?”
Song Baiyan nodded.
“What did he say?”
He looked up from the screen, his eyes gleaming. He smiled and said, “Uncle and Auntie Yu are very much looking forward to meeting me.”
Song Baiyan had always been reserved, rarely showing so much emotion. It seemed that he really liked him.
Madam Tan was extremely gratified. When Song Baiyan suddenly told them that he liked boys, they were initially surprised, but more than that, they were worried.
He didn’t like delicate and soft girls. Besides him saying he liked boys, they, as parents, hadn’t seen any sign of him liking anyone at all.
Madam Tan once thought he was going to live a solitary life, until she met Yu Zhanrong at the apartment.
“Hey, your dad brought back a box of tea leaves yesterday, it looks good. You can bring it tomorrow.”
Song Weiquan opened his mouth but didn’t say anything. He had bought it specifically for himself to drink, and he was a little heartbroken.
Song Baiyan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at his pained expression. “I won’t take it. You can drink it yourself.”
“Don’t pretend to be virtuous after getting a bargain. Also, bring the person back for me to see.”
Song Baiyan rubbed his nose and asked, “You haven’t even met him, why do you seem to like him so much?”
Song Weiquan glanced towards the tea room, where Tan Ying hadn’t come out yet, not knowing how much of his good tea she had rummaged out. “Probably, love me, love my dog.”
After all, Tan Ying would nag in his ear every day:
“Hey, Rongrong is so cute, he even calls me Mom.”
“Our Rongrong is so thoughtful.”
“Our Rongrong is good at everything, Baiyan has great taste.”
“Your son bullies our Rongrong every day, and Rongrong doesn’t get angry. He has such a good temper. No, I have to remind him.”
“My little cabbage, luckily he was brought to our family.”
And so on.
It was as if Song Baiyan was his, Song Weiquan’s, only son, and Yu Zhanrong was her, Tan Ying’s, son.
