Chapter 1: Running Away From Home

Hua City, July. Villa number 7, Southern Suburbs Villa District.

The scorching sun blazed like fire, baking the ground until it was scalding. The sky was a solid blue, without a single cloud in sight. Just taking one step outside required immense courage.

The mahogany-colored gate of the villa slowly opened, and a fair-skinned, slender boy with golden-blond hair and a backpack, dragging a suitcase, walked out, filled with indignation.

The moment the door opened, he was almost pushed back by the wave of heat. Yu Zhanrong steadied himself, closed his eyes, and took a step forward.

“I’ve worked towards this goal for two years, how could I possibly change my application? Don’t even think about it, hmph.”

He dragged the heavy suitcase, muttering to himself as he walked. His delicate features were set with a stubborn refusal to admit defeat.

Someone once said: Since you like it, then pursue it to the extreme. Show results and make others shut up.

He definitely had to fight for what he loved.

Hmph, Old Yu Comrade, just wait and shut up.

Just standing at the door was enough to make his face flush red from the scorching heat.

Yu Zhanrong glanced at the blazing sun overhead, his eyes momentarily blinded by the dazzling light. He put on his baseball cap and resolutely strode forward. The burning sensation of the ultraviolet rays on his skin couldn’t stop him.

It was as if daring to walk into the sun’s rays brought him one step closer to his goal.

The large suitcase was incredibly heavy, he didn’t know what he had packed. The slender wrist, two distinct tendons were stretched taut.

Before he even reached the bottom of the steps, a middle-aged man’s exasperated voice came from inside the house, “Good, very good. Your wings have hardened, haven’t they? Don’t come back once you’ve left!”

The man stood in the living room with his hands on his hips, coldly watching the slender figure at the door. Seeing that he was determined to leave, even under the scorching sun, and showed no intention of turning back, his expression grew increasingly ugly.

“I want to see, leaving home, leaving me and your mother, what ability do you actually have?”

Yu Zhanrong stopped when he heard this. He steadied the suitcase and shouted back into the house, refusing to be outdone, “I won’t come back if I don’t want to! Anyway, I will never change my application, never!”

“I will definitely achieve something, you just wait and see!”

“Zhanrong, don’t argue with your dad, discuss it properly, be obedient…” Zhan Yue looked worried and wanted to chase after him, but Yu Sheng reached out and stopped her.

Father and son were equally stubborn.

“Don’t go, let him go! I want to see how he supports himself, he really has hardened his wings! He wants me to wait and see, right? Fine, I’ll wait for him!”

The man’s strong arms held Zhan Yue tightly, not allowing her to chase after him.

Seeing her child walking further and further away, and being held back herself, Zhan Yue became anxious, “Yu Sheng! Rongrong is still a child, how can you be so heartless? He’s still young…”

“Young? Didn’t you see that his luggage was packed a long time ago? It shows that he has been preparing for this!” Yu Sheng pulled Zhan Yue, refusing to let go.

“He’s already 19,” Yu Sheng said with a stern face, clearly very angry, “He’s already an adult and should be responsible for his own decisions. Doesn’t he have the ability? Huh? Let him go!”

Yu Sheng allowed Zhan Yue to punch and kick him, but he refused to let go. In between speaking, he didn’t forget to tell the housekeeper to close the door, out of sight, out of mind.

“Can’t you talk to him properly? Forcing him to run away from home, are you happy now?!”

“Did he listen to me when I talked to him? He filled out the application without saying a word, didn’t even discuss it with us, and what about his hair, what does it look like? The older he gets, the less he listens!”

Yu Sheng was indeed very angry. With Yu Zhanrong’s grades, he could study economic management at Hua University, then go abroad for two years and come back to take over the family company. The road had been paved for him, and the future was bright.

But this kid had a very strong mind of his own, secretly applied for a broadcasting and hosting program, and insisted on becoming a voice actor.

That’s a job that relies on youth, and he would have to endure hardship, suffer, and be bullied outside. How could it compare to being comfortable in his own company?

“Then you can’t drive him out. Children grow up, it’s normal for them to have their own ideas, what can’t be discussed properly?”

Yu Sheng didn’t think so. If talking properly was useful, that little brat wouldn’t have acted first and reported later.

“I’m warning you, Rongrong’s constitution is weak, and his stomach isn’t good. If he goes hungry or gets hurt outside, you can just go and get him yourself!”

Zhan Yue angrily shook off Yu Sheng’s hand, turned around and went upstairs, not even looking at him again.

In her heart, she actually agreed with Yu Sheng’s idea. With them at home, he would never be wronged. Without the support of his family, who knows what would happen.

She also understood that Yu Sheng just wanted the child to figure things out for himself. Understanding was understanding, but she couldn’t help but feel sorry for her child and couldn’t help but blame him.

“Hey, you, let’s be reasonable…” Yu Sheng looked at his empty hand, all his anger turning into helplessness.

After so many years of marriage, he understood each other’s thoughts very well. Knowing that Zhan Yue would understand him, he still couldn’t control his legs and chased upstairs.

“Didn’t we agree not to get angry when educating our child? Now let him go out and hit the South Wall and we can still catch him.”

As he spoke, he glanced at his wife’s expression and continued, “When we get old, it will be too late to help, I…”

Responding to him was the loud sound of the door closing, and he was still locked outside.

    Yu Sheng: “…”

Looking at the closed bedroom door and then at the closed front door, Yu Sheng sighed silently.

Zhan Yue was sentimental, it was normal to feel sorry for her child.

But this little brat clearly knew his reaction early on, so he packed his things in advance. He really left without looking back, that heartless little white-eyed wolf!

The little white-eyed wolf Yu Zhanrong didn’t hear the movement inside the house. He arrived at the roadside with his head held high, dragging his big suitcase. He looked around and his brow furrowed slightly.

The road under the scorching sun was like being laid in a stove, the rising heat flow seemed to be visible to the naked eye.

White sneakers stepped on the ground, and a stream of heat drilled into his pants. Yu Zhanrong stomped his feet uncomfortably, “This damn weather, it’s killing me!”

Wiping the sweat from his temples and the back of his neck, Yu Zhanrong looked back at his closed door, took a deep breath, and gripped the handle in his hand.

He must persevere and not compromise.

He had to take responsibility for his own choices, the future belonged to him.

The asphalt road outside the villa area was wide, and two rows of trees gave him a brief place to shade.

After standing for only a few minutes, Yu Zhanrong couldn’t stand it anymore. He looked around, wanting to find a curb to sit down.

But before he could sit down, he already felt the burning heat, so he had to give up.

The weather was really too hot. Yu Zhanrong tugged at his pants, squatted on the ground, picked up a branch and drew on the ground, his eyes constantly glancing at his phone.

The signal source on the ride-hailing interface was trying to expand outward, but the message bar remained silent.

Why hasn’t anyone accepted the order yet?

For the first time, he felt that the southern suburbs were really remote, and it was so difficult to get a taxi. He had never felt this way before.

It was easy to say harsh words, but when he really came out, he couldn’t even get a ride.

Was he going to walk to the hotel?!

Was this the inevitable path to his dream? It was too hot!

As time passed minute by minute, the temperature rose higher and higher. Yu Zhanrong breathed out, grabbed the baseball cap on his head and fanned himself, and wiped the sweaty hair from his forehead.

Damn it, this damn weather, couldn’t there be some wind?

Looking up, the sky was clear and cloudless. Yu Zhanrong turned his head again and looked at his closed door. He had only been out for less than half an hour, and he was already starting to miss the air conditioning at home.

    Tsk.

Would he become the first person to give up running away from home because he couldn’t get a ride?

    That would be too embarrassing.

Yu Zhanrong squatted on the ground dejectedly, drawing, looking from a distance like an abandoned little lamb.

    “Beep—Beep—”

    Two quick car horns.

    A car?!

Yu Zhanrong suddenly raised his head. He had been looking down for too long, and he suddenly stood up so abruptly that he felt a moment of dizziness.

Under the dazzling sunlight was a pair of eyes as black as ink, very deep, like the sea.

    Also very familiar?
