AGTCTCC Chapter 34
by VolareChapter 34: Officer, I Advise You to Break Out
Shen Gui watched the video over and over again, always feeling a familiar strangeness, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
Xiang Li’s words to him kept flashing in his mind.
“We had a period… that was very special. You could think of it as a side effect of being immortal.”
His voice was hollow, in the surveillance room with only the two of them. He lowered his eyes, his tone as if he were stating something trivial like 1+1=2, not caring at all that he had just exposed his only weakness.
Shen Gui propped his chin with one hand, his brows furrowed deeply, and he didn’t even react when Xing Zi Mu came in from behind.
Xing Zi Mu unhesitatingly delivered a head-knock from behind, then walked to the side, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
Shen Gui hugged his head, tears welling up in his eyes, pitifully: “Ouch, ouch, Xing Zi.”
Xing Zi Mu’s gaze was fixed on the screen, his brows furrowing almost imperceptibly.
So familiar.
“Who is this person?”
“Ning Li An…” The quick-mouthed Shen Gui suddenly thought of something, laughed, and naturally changed the subject.
“You also think he’s familiar…”
Xing Zi Mu: “Who is Ning Li An?”
Shen Gui: “…Right?”
Failed to change the subject.
The two looked at each other in silence. Eventually, Shen Gui guiltily shifted his gaze, stammering.
“Just… a person.”
Xing Zi Mu: “…”
Counting it, this was the second time this year he was lying at home; the first time was when he first met Xiang Li.
When Xiang Li came back, he brought Chu Qi a bunch of flowers. It was evening, and the sun, resembling the eyes of a demon, had already set halfway.
The bright red roses were still fresh, their silken petals slightly curled, one next to the other.
It was hard to imagine that someone would still grow roses in the current environment filled with Polluted Entities. Xiang Li accidentally discovered that the shop was doing quite well when he passed by.
Chu Qi was also surprised by the flowers. The flower shop wasn’t far from his house, but he had never been inside, only occasionally catching a glimpse of it from afar.
“Thank you. Did you get rich?” Chu Qi took the flowers and placed them on a nearby table, teasing Xiang Li.
Xiang Li sat opposite him, his slender fingers poking at the petals in a casual manner, his expression meaningful, as if hinting that the flowers had another purpose.
“I’ll support you, Officer.” Xiang Li’s voice was clear and pure, with a refreshing quality as if it had been nourished by moisture. Hearing this, he leaned on the table, tilting his head to look at Chu Qi, his tone both flirtatious and cheeky.
Chu Qi didn’t have a vase, but he had a fish tank. He took out Little Potato Bean and wiped it clean, placing it in front of Xiang Li.
“Take care of your little brother.”
Xiang Li raised an eyebrow: “Taking advantage of me?”
After changing the water, Chu Qi carefully trimmed each rose and placed them inside, filling the entire fish tank.
Chu Qi: “What are you planning to do next?”
Shen Gui had sent the results of the Energy Measurement Stone to Chu Qi as soon as he got them. Now that there were only the two of them in the house, Chu Qi asked directly.
He couldn’t really wait a month, could he?
Xiang Li, however, looked “not in a hurry at all,” his fingertips tracing the arranged rose petals, his eyes dark.
“If my guess is correct, Officer, you’re in danger.”
Chu Qi: “?”
The next second, the doorbell rang, two urgent rings, as if announcing that Xiang Li’s words had come true.
Perhaps influenced by those words, Chu Qi felt a sudden bad premonition. Before he could even think about what Xiang Li meant, the door was blasted open with a “bang.”
A person in military uniform was the first to step in over the dust, scanning the situation in the room before fixing his gaze on Chu Qi.
The person waved his hand behind him, and a circle of soldiers surrounded them, some holding firearms, some holding laser guns. It looked like a big operation.
Hu Zi Mo took out a search warrant, its contents clearly exposed in the air.
“Chu Qi, you are suspected of colluding with outsiders, stealing military confidential files, and betraying the country. Your rank of Colonel is temporarily revoked, and you are suspended from duty pending investigation.”
Chu Qi stood up, turning his head to stare at Xiang Li, who was sitting calmly opposite him. The latter spread his hands, indicating “it wasn’t him.”
“Please cooperate with the investigation.” Hu Zi Mo walked to his side, holding a Spiritual Power suppression ring.
Xiang Li got up and walked to Chu Qi’s side. The surrounding soldiers seemed to not see him, their weapons aimed at Chu Qi, ignoring Xiang Li’s existence.
He patted Chu Qi on the shoulder, his voice overlapping with Hu Zi Mo’s, “The management’s order. If you can get out, I’ll get you a new door.”
“Officer, I advise you to break out of prison.”
Chu Qi was taken to the interrogation room. The glaring lights shone down, and he didn’t even blink. His wrists were chained to the armrests on either side, with metal rings connected to a device.
Chu Qi lowered his eyes, constantly pondering Xiang Li’s words. The door of the interrogation room opened and someone came in.
Hu Zi Mo, followed by… Xiang Li?
Seeing Xiang Li, Chu Qi’s brows furrowed uncontrollably, but his face remained icy, as if even being interrogated as a prisoner didn’t cause him any emotional fluctuations.
“Don’t worry, Officer. They can’t see me, only you.”
The last three words seemed to be repeatedly toyed with in Xiang Li’s palm, sounding particularly lingering and drawn out.
Hu Zi Mo: “Chu Qi, do you admit to illegally breaking into the Main Base on the night of October 25th, attacking Imperial soldiers with unidentified personnel, and causing losses to the Empire?”
Xiang Li propped his hands on the table, a look of triumph on his face, his voice sounding simultaneously with Hu Zi Mo’s: “Chu Qi, are you so in love with me that you can’t live without me?”
Chu Qi: “…I admit it.”
Hu Zi Mo: “Who was the person who attacked with you?”
Xiang Li folded his arms: “Who do you love the most?”
Chu Qi: “…Xiang Li.”
Hu Zi Mo looked up from the file.
“Xiang Li? That kid from Planet C079? Why are you still in contact with him?”
“Why didn’t you report it to the management?”
Hu Zi Mo’s voice involuntarily increased in volume. Xiang Li didn’t follow up this time, leisurely observing Chu Qi’s expression, but his fingers on his arm slowly tightened.
“I can’t say.” Chu Qi spoke after a long silence.
After hearing these words, Xiang Li’s lips curved into a smile.
He didn’t need to listen to the rest. He turned to leave, clearly sensing Chu Qi’s gaze fixed on him.
His figure faded, and before leaving the interrogation room, he specifically turned his head to look at Chu Qi, their eyes meeting.
“Break… out.” He silently mouthed the words to Chu Qi.
Shen Gui and Xing Zi Mu only found out about Chu Qi’s arrest when they arrived at Chu Qi’s house. The two exchanged glances, both feeling that things were not good.
Meanwhile, far away in a suburban cemetery, next to a grave engraved with “Wu Zhen,” lay an unnamed grave, with a single rose lying quietly in front of it.
