    Chapter 17

Lu Ziming and Zhou Yuanyuan took advantage of the deepening night and crept slowly through the bushes. Although the branches and leaves of the plants scratched their faces, hands, and bodies, causing stinging pain, they could only grit their teeth and endure it to safely stay away from this dangerous area. Fortunately, because of the stupid thing Zhou Yuanyuan had done before, most of the zombies nearby had gathered in front of the office building along the route the two had run. They only needed to pass through this section of road and reach another road to avoid most of the zombies.

“Go to Walmart,” Lu Ziming never forgot her purpose this time. Although there had been many twists and turns, she still had to do what she had to do.

Although Zhou Yuanyuan didn’t understand what Lu Ziming was going to do, since she had decided to follow her, she would just do what she said. Her thoughts were different from Wang Dong and his group of four. Being trapped would definitely lead to death sooner or later. So, what she had to do now was to ensure that she had enough resources while looking for a way to survive.

Although she had never asked Lu Ziming what she was going to do before she met her, she felt that it was not important. After all, she had no clear plan except to follow Lu Ziming now. Moreover, she had a feeling that Lu Ziming would never easily give up looking for a way out. Besides, if she, a girl, were to find a strange man to follow, she would find it even more dangerous than being with zombies.

So now, what she had to do was to listen to Lu Ziming and follow her. Especially after she had witnessed Lu Ziming’s abilities several times, she became even more determined in her idea – being with Lu Ziming would increase her chances of survival. At least for now, her choice was correct.

The two of them had just returned the way they came because they were avoiding zombies. They just had to walk the same road again and then detour to the Walmart building. Thanks to Zhou Yuanyuan’s foolishness earlier, only a few slow-reacting guys were wandering around downstream of the supermarket.

But after what happened just now, Lu Ziming changed her mind – the door was open, which seemed to be the easiest to break into, but the target looked too obvious. Moreover, once she escaped into the building, it would be fine if she was familiar with the terrain inside. But if she couldn’t figure out the geographical location, and there were a few zombies chasing after her, she might accidentally find her own death in a panic. So, she, who originally planned to break through from the front, now wanted to adopt a roundabout tactic to see if there were any safer and more hidden entrances on the other floors.

Walmart’s upper floors from the first floor are all department stores, men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes, hats, clothing, gold and silver jewelry, jade pendants, cosmetics, and so on. The lower floors, from the first basement level to the third basement level, are large supermarkets with complete categories and large scales. That was Lu Ziming’s ultimate destination. The building has large entrances in four directions on the first floor, and small entrances in various small corners. However, each entrance mainly leads to different places, but the internal structure is built in a well-connected manner, so even if you enter through a small door, you can eventually find your way to where you want to go.

Fortunately, Walmart has many entrances. Lu Ziming led Zhou Yuanyuan around and found that the back door of a milk tea shop’s emergency exit on the outer side of the first floor was open.

Lu Ziming raised her foot to enter, but Zhou Yuanyuan stuffed a flashlight she had found earlier into her hand. The two first shone inside to make sure there were no zombies inside and to see the position of the stairs clearly, and then quickly turned off the flashlight. In this dark environment, light is precious, but it can also be deadly.

After the two entered the emergency exit, they closed the door behind them and turned on the flashlight again, going down the stairs all the way.

The third basement level generally sells fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, and meat, so Lu Ziming only went down to the second basement level, then turned off the flashlight, opened the fire door, and quietly walked in with Zhou Yuanyuan.

To put it bluntly, Lu Ziming was still worried that zombies would come in here. Although most zombies have no concept of height, and they either trip over stairs or step into the air and fall down, no one has done a definitive study on zombies to prove whether all zombies are that stupid. Just like the zombie they encountered before that ran almost as fast as a normal person, that was a variable. So Lu Ziming put the flashlight in her pocket with one hand and reached out to pull the door, while raising her weapon with the other hand.

The two stood in the dark corridor for less than a minute to let their eyes adjust to the darkness, and then cautiously opened the fire door.

“Speak up if you’re alive! If you don’t speak up, I’ll attack.” The corridor was dead silent. Ever since Wu Hao asked that question, Wang Dong and his group of four had been standing there, each with their own concerns, not knowing whether to answer or not. Although they had already determined that the man on the other side was a normal person after hearing the question, the word “normal person” was not the same as “good person.” Moreover, this person was holding a sword. If the answer led to a conflict, their group of four wouldn’t even have a weapon to fight him with.

“Wu Hao, what’s going on?” At this time, the Yin sisters, who were making a commotion in another room, vaguely heard the voices here. They put the things back in the refrigerator, put on their backpacks, and came out of the room with their weapons. Yin Zhouhang, in the lead, frowned and asked impatiently as soon as he came out of the room.

If Mei Ting had felt somewhat confident before when she saw that Wu Hao was alone and her side had four people, even without weapons, her confidence was completely gone after seeing the Yin sisters appear one after another. Now, although it was four against three, it was undeniable that her side was at an absolute disadvantage.

Her side had three women and one man, while the other side had two men and one woman. Her side didn’t have a single decent weapon, while each person on the other side was holding a sharp weapon that looked difficult to deal with. Moreover, Wang Dong on her side, although a man, had almost negligible combat power. This looked like a battle with no suspense in the outcome.

“Yo ho? Finally met some living people! And they’re all chicks? Oh, and there’s one who’s not a real man, huh.” Yin Zhouhang saw Wu Hao confronting the four people on the other side as soon as he came out. When he saw that there were actually three women on the other side, he suddenly became interested and began to tease them frivolously.

“We locked the door,” Mei Ting stepped forward and answered directly. Although she was very clear about the situation on her side, she had to act strong and not lower her status at this time.

“We were besieged by a group of zombies and had no choice.” But she couldn’t be too tough and ungrateful, courting death. After all, her group was wrong in the first place. The three people on the other side were obviously a group that had been hiding here for a long time, and they probably never expected to be locked in this building by another group of people.

Of course, Wu Hao guessed the reason, but he wanted them to say the reason themselves so that they would realize that thinking only of themselves at this time would infringe on other people’s right to survive. And because he had already thought of another way to escape, he didn’t want to bother with these useless things anymore. If he was really forced to a dead end by these people, he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t turn his swords against them.

But Yin Zhouhang, this little ruffian, was different. He was not as easy to deal with as Wu Hao.

“Oh, so you guys locked us in here, right? Well… that’s easy to talk about, easy to talk about.” Yin Zhouhang smiled slyly, not planning to let Wang Dong and his group of four off easily.

“Leave the prettiest chick and promise us not to set foot on the floors above the fifth floor, and I, your daddy, can let this matter go.” He pointed to Huang Xiaolin next to Hu Ying and deliberately knocked the tip of the homemade club in his hand on the ground, making a ‘clang’ sound.

“Don’t even think about it! This is a society ruled by law! What? You still want to forcibly take a woman?!” When Hu Ying heard that Yin Zhouhang’s target was actually Huang Xiaolin, she immediately pulled the pale-faced Huang Xiaolin behind her. Huang Xiaolin, who originally thought that teaming up in a group of four would provide more security, immediately felt cold in her hands and feet and weak in her legs when she realized that the other party’s target was directly aimed at her.

“Shut up! You stinky woman! I wasn’t talking to you, why are you interrupting?!” Yin Zhouhang changed his face faster than flipping a book. One second he was smiling and looking frivolous, and the next second he glared with his eyes and was fierce and merciless.

And Yin Suna, behind him, just looked on expressionlessly, with no intention of stopping her younger brother.

The Yin siblings had been in society for a long time and understood better why good people are bullied and good horses are ridden – they are too naive and will never know how sinister this society is, always holding the stupid belief that there are more good people than bad people in the world. Because they have never experienced the feeling of being stabbed in the back, the feeling of being slapped for no reason, the feeling of being controlled and having nowhere to escape.

Without being shrouded in black, you will never know how black black can be. So she told Yin Zhouhang from a young age that adults are unreliable. If you are hurt, don’t cry, return it even more fiercely. Even if you don’t have enough strength, you must let the other party know that you are not easy to mess with. Only by learning to attack can you better protect yourself.
