“Where?” Zhou Lingchun didn’t immediately recall. But as he said it, he seemed to realize what Liansheng was referring to.

Liansheng saw the man’s unyielding expression and grew even angrier. So, he had been silently miserable all afternoon, and this man hadn’t noticed his mistake at all!

He glared fiercely at Zhou Lingchun, pouting, then jumped off the bicycle and walked straight into the house without looking back.

Zhou Lingchun quickly secured the bike and chased after him, “Are you mad that I interrupted you?”

He had a reason for interrupting Liansheng. Liansheng had no filter when he spoke. If that woman realized Liansheng had lost his memory and he spoke carelessly, Liansheng would surely be led astray.

Liansheng was sitting on the edge of the bed taking off his shoes: “No! Think about it properly!” How could he be so petty as to get angry just because he was interrupted? The strap on his shoe was somehow stuck, and he couldn’t undo it.

He truly couldn’t bear to part with Liansheng, so he wouldn’t resort to such despicable acts.

But seeing how angry Liansheng was now, he probably wanted to go back.

Liansheng’s shoe was removed. Zhou Lingchun looked at the shoe’s upper, holding Liansheng’s ankle, unable to speak. Liansheng struggled a bit, finding the man’s grip extremely tight. Thinking of the man’s behavior at noon, he immediately flared up, “Let go of my hand, you’re hurting me.”

Zhou Lingchun quickly released his hand, remained silent for a moment, then said, “I’ll go cook,” and left.

This was the first time Liansheng felt neglected by the man. As soon as Zhou Lingchun left, tears spilled out. He wiped his eyes with a tissue, looking like a wronged young wife. But he didn’t know that Zhou Lingchun wasn’t feeling any better.

Liansheng thought: Men are indeed fickle. They were intimate this morning, yet now he could treat him so coldly. His heart felt desolate, and he decided Zhou Lingchun had turned bad.

He peeked into the kitchen through the window. That man actually had the nerve to cook! He got straight off the bed, opened the wardrobe, and pulled out his clothes, folding them one by one—he was determined to make Zhou Lingchun panic later, crawling over in a desperate rush to beg him not to pack.

Zhou Lingchun brought the food over and saw Liansheng had made a mess of the bed, piled high with clothes. His heart felt as if Liansheng had struck it hard with a small awl! He set the food aside, not daring to say anything about staying, only saying, “Let’s eat first.”

Liansheng said tearfully, “I’m not eating!”

Zhou Lingchun gritted his teeth, walked over, pressed down on Liansheng’s hand, and whispered, “If you truly want to go back, then go. I won’t stop you, but you must eat first.”

No matter how unwilling he was, seeing Liansheng like this, he wouldn’t lift a finger to stop him.

But just a few seconds after he spoke, large tears suddenly splattered onto Zhou Lingchun’s hand. Zhou Lingchun panicked. When Liansheng met his gaze, he lost control and burst into loud sobs.

Even the cat suddenly leaped down from the top of the cabinet to watch, let alone the man who wanted to cherish Liansheng above all else. Zhou Lingchun quickly used his fingers to wipe Liansheng’s tears. He was so flustered he forgot to grab a tissue. His rough fingertip scraped Liansheng’s skin, making him cry even louder.

Zhou Lingchun couldn’t understand why Liansheng was still so upset, but he couldn’t stop apologizing: “Don’t cry, please don’t cry. I was wrong, it was my fault.”

“It is your fault!” Liansheng suddenly stopped crying. Because the previous outburst was so intense, the sudden stop caused him to hiccup, and small pearls of tears still fell from his eyes. “You heartless man! And here I liked you and followed you for so long… The moment I said you were my man, you immediately covered my mouth. You weren’t planning on admitting it, were you?”

As Liansheng spoke, he started crying again, his voice broken and intermittent, “If you… don’t admit it, then don’t. I, I hadn’t even said I was leaving, and you couldn’t wait to chase me away. If you hate me, I’ll leave right now, is that what you want…”

He was about to say more but was interrupted by Zhou Lingchun shouting, “No.” Zhou Lingchun finally understood that he had made a mistake this time, and it was a colossal one, ridiculously far off the mark. Due to his own complicated thoughts, he had wrongly judged Liansheng, underestimating Liansheng’s feelings for him.

Zhou Lingchun completely disregarded any sense of manly pride he usually held, grabbed Liansheng’s hand, and slapped himself across the face several times.

Liansheng was startled by the sudden action. The man had used real force; he could feel the impact in his palm, let alone on Zhou Lingchun’s face. Although he often teased and bullied Zhou Lingchun, he knew the man’s boundaries and had never truly struck the man’s head or face.

Seeing this, Liansheng felt terribly distressed.

He touched the man’s face with his warm palm, “What are you doing! If you don’t hurt, I do!”

Zhou Lingchun held Liansheng’s hand and lowered his head to touch Liansheng’s lips, “Shengsheng.”

    “What?” Liansheng asked testily.

Zhou Lingchun’s eyes were red, “Shengsheng, it wasn’t like that. I was just afraid that if you mentioned your memory loss, that woman would deceive you. I never intended to chase you away. I only spoke like that just now because I didn’t want to burden you.”

Liansheng fought back tears: “Anyone can say things after the fact.”

“No!” The man moved Liansheng’s hand to his chest, where his heart was pounding, thumping against Liansheng’s palm through the flesh. “I’m not good with sweet words, but I swear, I am not a heartless man, nor am I afraid to take responsibility. I, Zhou Lingchun, only cherish you, Liansheng, in this life.”

    Liansheng remained silent.

Their faces were extremely close, their breaths mingling. Zhou Lingchun whispered, “Shengsheng, please stop being angry, okay? You know I’m clumsy with words around you. And don’t ever talk about leaving me again.”

He took every word Liansheng said to heart, treating every one as the truth.

Liansheng said, “If you ever try to chase me away again, I will truly leave far away, and you’ll never see me again.”

“How could I bear to,” the man said.

    Liansheng whispered, “I forgive you.”

Once they had cleared the air, they were back to normal, no, even better than before. It was as if only now had they truly communicated their feelings, solidifying their resolve to stay together for life.

After dinner, the clothes Liansheng had piled messily on the bed were picked up by Zhou Lingchun, shaken out, and hung back in the wardrobe. Liansheng looked at the clothes and felt embarrassed, remembering how he had intended to use them to threaten Zhou Lingchun.

And because of it, he had been forced to slap the man several times.

He wrapped his arms around the man’s neck, lifted his foot, and lightly kissed the spot where he had been hit.

An intimate atmosphere enveloped the two of them.

They sat on the bed, hugging and kissing. Liansheng obediently let the man suck his tongue, all the saliva being drawn away. He held the man’s neck, kissing him without leaving any gap, wishing they could stick together forever. Only when their tongues were numb and their faces flushed from kissing did Liansheng finally push the man away to catch his breath, then pretended to be angry, “Are you trying to kiss me to death!”

Zhou Lingchun waited until his breathing stabilized, then leaned in again to kiss him.

Liansheng used his palm to block the man’s face, feeling an itch on his back again. He frowned and scratched it, then felt more discomfort. He crossed his arms, lifted the hem of his sweater, and pulled it over his head, revealing the emergency shirt he had just bought and put on today. He said, “It must be fuzz sticking to me. It’s itchy even with the shirt on.”

“The shirt hasn’t been washed, it’s not clean.” Zhou Lingchun helped Liansheng take off the shirt. His soft body was exposed in the slightly cool air. Zhou Lingchun took a thick set of pajamas from the wardrobe and gave them to Liansheng to wear. “It’s late, we’re not going out. Wear pajamas.”

Liansheng complied and put his arms through. The pajamas had buttons, and Zhou Lingchun was buttoning them up one by one from the bottom.

Liansheng lowered his eyes. With their feelings now clear, his desire to be close to the man reached its peak. The pajamas were only half-buttoned when Liansheng stopped the man’s hand, whining, “Lick here, it’s really uncomfortable here too.”

The man glanced at Liansheng’s expression, and his gaze changed. He reached out, pushed the clothing aside, lowered his head, and began to suck and nibble at Liansheng’s chest.

Liansheng’s body arched back as the man’s head bumped him. He grabbed the man’s hair, “Ah, slow down, it’s not like I won’t let you eat…”

    Liansheng: Wrong method, right result!
