Chapter 72: Heartless

Gu Ze returned to the office and couldn’t help but smile, recalling what he had said to Song Yichen.

He had inadvertently made it sound like victim-blaming; hopefully, he wouldn’t be struck by lightning. Now, he was going to enlighten Shen Xingyang. He refused to believe that two people who had each other in their hearts would truly separate.

“He doesn’t even want to talk to me now, how can I take the initiative to find him?”

Shen Xingyang looked helplessly at Gu Ze. He had already come to the hospital, and Song Yichen was still so indifferent. He estimated that this time, things were truly precarious.

“You go find him! Anyway, he can’t refuse you. Besides, you have the cat you gave him. Can’t you use the cat as an excuse to enter Song Manor?”

Gu Ze looked utterly disappointed, wondering how both of them could have such low emotional intelligence. This relationship, without him, was doomed to end sooner or later.

Shen Xingyang nodded in agreement. That’s right, he still had Xingyun. It had been so long since he had seen Xingyun.

“Doctor Song, I feel dizzy and lightheaded. I definitely haven’t fully recovered. I can’t be discharged yet.”

Shen Xingyang had squatted in Song Yichen’s office for a long time without seeing Song Yichen. It seemed he genuinely wanted to avoid him.

He squatted for two days, and seeing that he was about to be discharged, Gu Ze couldn’t stand it any longer and secretly told him Song Yichen’s location.

Song Yichen didn’t even give Shen Xingyang a glance, directly bypassing him and wanting to leave.

“Doctor Song, I really feel unwell.”

Shen Xingyang hurriedly grabbed Song Yichen, appearing extremely pitiful. Only then did Song Yichen stop and look at him.

How had Shen Xingyang become so thin in the past few days? He frowned, touched Shen Xingyang’s forehead, and listened with a stethoscope, confirming that there was no problem before glaring at him.

“You can even lie. Seems like you’re fine.”

Shen Xingyang saw that Song Yichen had softened and was overjoyed. Now, he definitely wouldn’t let Song Yichen leave.

“That must be because you didn’t check properly. Didn’t you give me a medical wristband before? Can’t you give me another one? That way, I’ll be safer after I’m discharged, right?”

Shen Xingyang said to himself, not noticing the change in Song Yichen’s expression.

Shen Xingyang noticed that his pace had slowed down a bit and thought that Song Yichen had softened. Just as he felt a sense of accomplishment and was about to say something more,

before Shen Xingyang could open his mouth, Song Yichen suddenly stopped, turned his head to look at Shen Xingyang, his eyes somewhat cold.

Shen Xingyang’s lips moved, and the words he wanted to say instantly choked back. He was a little afraid of Song Yichen’s gaze at this moment.

Song Yichen saw the fear in his eyes and realized that he had been too extreme. He straightened his clothes, stood up straight, and turned his head away from Shen Xingyang.

“The things you’ve already thrown away, do you think you can get them back? You threw them away yourself, along with all my feelings for you, without hesitation.”

Song Yichen lowered his head slightly, very close to Shen Xingyang, but his tone was very firm, as if questioning Shen Xingyang. Shen Xingyang was forced to retreat, a little afraid to look at Song Yichen.

Song Yichen saw the fear in his eyes and realized that he had overreacted. He straightened his clothes, stood up straight, and turned his head, not looking at Shen Xingyang.

“Some things, once lost, can’t be found again.”

After Song Yichen finished speaking, he left straight away, not looking back at the person behind him. He knew his words were a bit heartless, but he couldn’t get over the deception that day, nor could he accept Shen Xingyang’s distrust of him.

Shen Xingyang did not follow. Song Yichen seemed really angry. He rubbed his hair irritably, feeling like he had messed up again.

In the afternoon, Shen Xingyang was preparing to leave the hospital. After thinking about it, he couldn’t help but go see Song Yichen.

Song Yichen looked up at him, his face full of indifference: “What are you doing here again?”

“No matter what, Xingyun has lived with me for so long, I have feelings for him. Can you let me go to Song Manor to see him?”

Song Yichen frowned, looked up at Shen Xingyang, and was just about to say something when he heard Shen Xingyang hurriedly explain.

“Don’t worry, I’ll just go see him, I won’t stay too long.”

Shen Xingyang looked at Song Yichen cautiously, afraid of being rejected again.

“I get off work at eight in the evening.”

After Song Yichen finished speaking, he continued to do his own thing with his head down, but these words undoubtedly meant consent.

Shen Xingyang understood his meaning and nodded happily.

    “Thank you.”

After Shen Xingyang finished speaking, he really didn’t bother Song Yichen anymore, turned around and left, and considerately closed the door behind him.

“He lived with Xingyun for so long and has feelings for him, but not for me, huh!”

Song Yichen grumbled unhappily, feeling extremely irritable. He had clearly agreed to end things with Shen Xingyang, but he still couldn’t control himself.

In the evening, Song Yichen returned to Song Manor. Before he even got out of the car, he saw Shen Xingyang waiting at the door.

    “When did he come?”

Song Yichen looked at the housekeeper who was preparing to drive his car to the garage and couldn’t help but ask.

“Young Master Shen arrived at six in the afternoon.”

He had been waiting for more than two hours. Was Shen Xingyang stupid?

    “Let him in.”

After Song Yichen finished speaking, he walked into the house on his own. Shen Xingyang heard the housekeeper’s words and hurried to follow.

    “Xingyun is upstairs, you wait.”

Shen Xingyang nodded, watching Song Yichen go upstairs. Not long after, Song Yichen came down holding Xingyun.

Perhaps because Xingyun hadn’t seen Shen Xingyang for a long time, he seemed very excited, constantly struggling in Song Yichen’s arms, calling out softly.

Shen Xingyang thought that Song Yichen would let him pet Xingyun for a while, but he saw Song Yichen stuff Xingyun into a bag, then threw some cat food in, picked up the bag, and put it in Shen Xingyang’s hand.

“Xingyun is yours, you can leave.”

Shen Xingyang was stunned. What did Song Yichen mean by this?

    “Aren’t you leaving yet?”

Song Yichen saw that Shen Xingyang was still standing there and said casually.

“You mean you want to give Xingyun to me? You don’t want him anymore?”

    “I don’t want him anymore.”

Song Yichen looked into Shen Xingyang’s eyes. Those words didn’t seem to be about Xingyun, but about himself.

Song Yichen ignored Shen Xingyang’s painful expression and turned to leave, but Shen Xingyang hugged him tightly from behind.

“Song Yichen, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have lied to you. I swear, I will never deceive you in the slightest again.”

    “Don’t abandon me…”

Shen Xingyang’s voice was a little soft, and he seemed very pitiful. But Song Yichen still didn’t move, just standing there quietly, as if he had run out of patience.

Shen Xingyang raised his head flatteringly, preparing to kiss Song Yichen, but was pushed away by Song Yichen.

    “Don’t be crazy.”

Shen Xingyang crashed into the staircase railing, his lower back ached a little, but he didn’t even dare to touch his aching lower back, just looking at Song Yichen.

Song Yichen avoided his gaze, directly stepped up the stairs, and did not look back at Shen Xingyang, afraid that he would soften.

Shen Xingyang looked at Xingyun, who he had just placed on the ground, picked up the bag: “Xingyun, now it’s good, neither of us is wanted anymore.”

But Shen Xingyang only looked at Xingyun and did not take him away. If Song Yichen really couldn’t forgive him, he would still have Xingyun to accompany him, wouldn’t he?
