Chapter 45: Shen Jinjue Hits Song Yichen

    “Brother, don’t fight!”

Shen Xingyang heard that Song Yichen had gone to see Shen Jinjue.

It wasn’t easy to persuade Shen Jinjue’s people to bring him to see Shen Jinjue, but the moment he entered, he saw this scene.

Shen Jinjue stopped when he saw Shen Xingyang. He stood up, took the towel from someone nearby, and wiped his hands, which were covered in blood.

    “Song Yichen.”

Shen Xingyang helped Song Yichen up and wiped the blood from his face.

“Are you stupid? I told you I would find a way to talk to my brother. What are you doing here?”

Song Yichen coughed, spat out the blood in his mouth, and took Shen Xingyang’s hand.

“It’s okay, just a small injury.”

“Brother, can’t you talk nicely? Why are you resorting to violence? You’re just taking advantage of Song Yichen’s good temper, aren’t you?”

Shen Xingyang had expected Shen Jinjue to be angry, but he didn’t expect him to actually resort to violence.

“He has a good temper? That’s just to fool you. You didn’t see how he confronted me. Let me tell you, if you don’t break up with him, I’ll beat him every time I see him.”

He treated Song Yichen like a brother, but Song Yichen stole his younger brother. Just thinking about it made him feel terrible and angry.

“Song Yichen, did you hear that? My brother told you not to see him again, or he’ll beat you.”

Shen Xingyang looked at Song Yichen, feeling sorry for his injuries, and whispered to Song Yichen.

“Shen Xingyang, don’t try to brush me off. Do you think I’m easy to fool?”

Shen Xingyang only heard the part about beating Song Yichen, didn’t he? He was pretending to be deaf about breaking up.

“Brother, I’m over twenty years old. I know what I’m doing, and I’ll take responsibility for my choices. I don’t want to accept the life you’ve arranged for me.”

Shen Xingyang didn’t want to make things difficult for Shen Jinjue, but Shen Jinjue was making things difficult for him. He was stubborn and refused to listen to reason. He had never seen his brother so firmly opposed to anything he did.

“Take responsibility for what? Have you forgotten what happened when you insisted on going to high school and what you encountered there?”

Shen Xingyang had even threatened him with suicide to go to high school. Later, he had no choice but to let Shen Xingyang go, but going to high school left him scarred. That became his biggest regret, and he wouldn’t allow it to happen again.

“Yes, I didn’t have a good time in high school, but I don’t regret it, because I only realized after going to high school that not everyone in life is like the people you arranged for me, who would obey me in everything. It was also then that I realized many things. If it weren’t for that experience, I would still be that ignorant child.”

Shen Xingyang retorted loudly. Since he left Shen Manor at the age of five, he had only been surrounded by people arranged by Shen Jinjue. Those people revolved around him every day.

Everything he learned was selectively transmitted to him by others.

He didn’t know what the real world was like, and he didn’t even understand what it meant to like someone.

So he never regretted that experience. Life shouldn’t be smooth sailing.

That time in high school changed his entire life trajectory. It was indeed difficult at the time, but it did teach him a lot and made him aware of the rules of survival in this society.

Shen Jinjue’s lips moved, but he didn’t say a word. He turned around and left.

Shen Xingyang knew that what he said had completely hurt his brother.

The things that happened in high school were Shen Jinjue’s most unbearable memories and also what he felt most guilty about. He had been blaming himself for not protecting him well.

For so many years, he had been unable to forget. He would be so scared that he would wake up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep, after dreaming about Shen Xingyang’s experiences.

But now Shen Xingyang was telling him that those things had only helped him grow, and he didn’t regret it.

These words made Shen Jinjue feel that he hadn’t done a good job in the past, that he had allowed Shen Xingyang to grow in this way.

“You knew my brother was angry, yet you still dared to come.”

Shen Xingyang saw that Shen Jinjue had left and quickly looked at Song Yichen. Seeing his injuries, he felt both distressed and angry.

“Shen Xingyang, I’m your boyfriend. I can’t let you face this alone.”

“Then we’ll face it together. Don’t worry, my brother is just tough on the outside but soft on the inside. He won’t do anything to either of us.”

Shen Jinjue didn’t say it, but Shen Xingyang knew that Shen Jinjue cared about Song Yichen and truly treated him like a brother.

“But what does your brother mean by high school? Your brother seems to mind it a lot.”

Song Yichen always felt that Shen Jinjue’s expression became unnatural when he mentioned this. Shen Xingyang didn’t have much of an impression. Hearing their words, Song Yichen had a guess, but he wasn’t sure.

Shen Xingyang nonchalantly threw the blood-stained paper into the trash can and stood up casually.

“It’s just that in the past, I envied others going to high school, so I threatened my brother with suicide to get him to agree to let me go to school. As a result, because I had never been to school before, I didn’t adapt well to that kind of lifestyle. Plus, I was physically weak, and the people at school liked to bully me, beat me up, and steal my things.”

If it were the Shen Xingyang from his previous life, he would probably still feel lingering fear when he thought of these things, but the Shen Xingyang of this life didn’t think it was a big deal. To him, it was just a minor issue.

But because he had endured three years of bullying, his brother almost collapsed when he found out. He had spoiled his younger brother for so long, but he had been bullied for so long. Naturally, he couldn’t forget it.

Song Yichen stepped forward and took Shen Xingyang’s hand, without saying a word. He knew that nothing he said now could make up for Shen Xingyang’s pain back then.

In fact, this was very common. People tend to bully the weak and fear the strong. If a boy is relatively weak, it’s naturally more difficult for him to get along with others, especially since Shen Xingyang didn’t live at school and wasn’t familiar with his classmates, so there was no one to protect him.

“Song Yichen, don’t be like my brother! Why are you looking so serious? It’s all in the past. Besides, I met Qi Zhe and Xiao Qi in high school, and I learned a lot of things. You can’t always think negatively.”

Shen Xingyang smiled and comforted Song Yichen, as if he were talking about something else, without any expression on his face.

Back then, when he was being bullied, Qi Zhe, who was in a higher grade, couldn’t stand it anymore and helped him.

Although those people would continue to bully him after he left, Qi Zhe’s appearance proved to him to some extent that not everyone was a bad person.

But Song Yichen couldn’t imagine how Shen Xingyang had gotten through that time. He had entered school for the first time in his life, only to be treated like that.

He didn’t believe Shen Xingyang’s words about letting it go; he just didn’t want people to worry about him.

“Okay, go see your brother quickly. Otherwise, he’ll think you don’t want your dear brother anymore now that you have a boyfriend.”

Song Yichen smiled and looked at the closed door, his eyebrows furrowed tightly.

He didn’t want Shen Xingyang to recall these unpleasant things, so he talked about Shen Jinjue to divert Shen Xingyang’s attention.

Shen Xingyang nodded. Since Song Yichen’s injuries were fine, he should go see Shen Jinjue too. This time, he had really hurt Shen Jinjue’s heart.
