Chapter 125 “Tang Ying Can’t Win.”

Han Chu Hui realized the person was not in the private room too late.

On the surveillance screen, under the neon lights flickering at the bar entrance, two figures were almost pressed together.

Good, this surnamed Tang is really a persistent ghost.

Han Chu Hui narrowed her eyes, her fingers tapping a dangerous rhythm on the table. Her smoky voice suppressed with anger, she commanded:

    “Zoom in on camera three.”

Her subordinates didn’t dare to delay, and the image on the screen immediately became clear.

In the image, Tang Ying was leaning slightly, saying something to Fu Yi Wen. The latter’s face clearly showed a trace of embarrassment and wavering, which made Han Chu Hui feel an unnamed fire rising.

That dead woman Chen Qing Yu was right, this little brat is just a big sieve who can’t keep secrets.

Han Chu Hui angrily stood up abruptly, the black leather chair making a harsh scraping sound. “You guys, come with me.”

At her command, four security guards in black suits immediately followed her resolute steps.

At the entrance of the bar, the night wind carried the faint fragrance of Tang Ying’s perfume, drifting straight into Fu Yi Wen’s nose.

This person seems to have changed perfume. Fu Yi Wen didn’t remember the name, and she never remembered these things, only knew that it seemed to be the one she used to use often.

“So, have you considered it?” Tang Ying’s voice pulled her wandering thoughts back to reality: “Do you want me to tutor you, or do you want to see me every day afterwards?”

    “……”

That sudden hug had left half of Fu Yi Wen’s body numb. Now, facing those bright, burning eyes, Fu Yi Wen’s legs felt rooted to the spot, unable to turn around and leave.

She knew Tang Ying meant what she said. If this person really followed her to the University of Southern California…

Fu Yi Wen shook her head, which had already started to ache just thinking about it, trying to make her voice sound cold enough:

“Aunt Qing Yu has found me many very good foreign teachers.”

“I said, I don’t trust anyone else to teach you.”

“If I let you tutor me, will you leave after I finish the TOEFL exam?”

Looking into those clear eyes, Tang Ying asked instead of answering, “Do you want me to leave?”

Fu Yi Wen nodded, her tone extremely resolute: “Of course. If possible, I wish the last time in the hospital was the last time you and I ever met.”

Although she had anticipated this answer, Tang Ying couldn’t help but frown when these words actually came out of Fu Yi Wen’s mouth.

“Okay, if you agree to let me tutor you, I will do as you wish after you pass the exam.”

    “Liar, you won’t.”

Their eyes met, and Fu Yi Wen said firmly. She clearly saw the dodge and deception in Tang Ying’s eyes. The person who had been exposed was obviously stunned for a moment, and also saw the stubbornness and determination in Fu Yi Wen’s eyes. After a moment of silence, Tang Ying’s tone was unreadable:

“Little Fatty, do you hate me that much? Hate me so much that you never want to see me again.”

“I don’t hate you. After all, there is only hate where there is love. I don’t love you anymore, so how can I hate you? It’s just…”

Fu Yi Wen paused, and after a few seconds of silence, stabbed those beautiful eyes with every word:

“Tang Ying, we know each other. You once taught me a lot. I don’t want to be left with only disgust when I recall you as a person in the end.”

    Disgust?

Tang Ying’s pupils trembled imperceptibly. That familiar, piercing pain spread throughout her heart. She bit her back molars, trying to make her voice sound calm:

“Hate me or be disgusted by me, the top priority now is your TOEFL exam. We’ll talk about the rest after you pass.”

    “……”

Fu Yi Wen never knew Tang Ying was so difficult to deal with when she was being unreasonable.

She was the one who used to be so unreasonable.

    Tang Ying, why bother?

Just as Fu Yi Wen was about to say something, a smoky voice filled with anger from not far away cut through the night like an axe:

    “What are you doing?”

    “……”

Fu Yi Wen turned her head at the sound, only to see Han Chu Hui, who didn’t know when she had come out, followed by four menacing security guards. Under the flickering neon lights, the tattoos on her body were looming, making people feel chills down their spines.

Han Chu Hui quickly stood in front of the two, the four security guards surrounding them, their fierce eyes staring at Tang Ying.

The tension was palpable, but Tang Ying surprisingly didn’t retort at all. Instead, she subtly moved half a step behind Fu Yi Wen, her fingers gently tugging at the corner of Fu Yi Wen’s clothes, like a frightened child.

Han Chu Hui, who witnessed everything: ??? Excuse me??? Is she acting pitiful now? Where did the momentum of tearing down her bar go just now??

Han Chu Hui was so angry that she wanted to curse, but Fu Yi Wen couldn’t possibly not know what kind of person Tang Ying was. Still, she stood in front of Tang Ying and spoke to Han Chu Hui:

“Aunt Chu Hui, this is between us. Let me handle it myself.”

“No way.” Han Chu Hui crossed her arms, her cold gaze scanning Tang Ying behind Fu Yi Wen. “Haven’t you two already made everything clear? Why is she still clinging on? Have you no shame?”

    “……”

    This was practically naming names.

A terrifying cold light flashed in Tang Ying’s eyes. Before she could do anything, Fu Yi Wen spoke first, her tone indignant: “Aunt Han Chu Hui!”

She rarely used the full name, her voice filled with pleading: “I know you care about me, but this time, please let me handle it myself.”

Han Chu Hui narrowed her eyes: “Fu Yi Wen, you—”

“If you’re worried that it will be difficult to explain to Aunt Qing Yu, I can call and explain myself.”

The night wind suddenly became piercing. Han Chu Hui laughed in anger. Fu Yi Wen could almost see the veins throbbing on her temples.

Okay, now she not only wanted to curse, but she also wanted to hit someone!

The stalemate lasted for more than ten seconds before Han Chu Hui squeezed out a few words from between her teeth: “Okay, very good.”

After saying that, she gave a look. The security guards, who had menacingly spread out to surround them, looked at each other. Finally, they followed the back view of the woman with the phoenix tattoo, leaving in a huff.

The sound of footsteps gradually faded away, but Tang Ying’s fingers still clutched the corner of Fu Yi Wen’s clothes. She quickly went through the conversation just now in her brain.

The woman just now was called Han Chu Hui.

She seemed to have a very close relationship with Chen Qing Yu and was a big shot.

As the *I Ching* says, everything that happens is for my benefit.

Tang Ying resisted the urge to raise her eyebrows, her tone adding a bit of grievance and loneliness:

“She was the one who kicked me out just now. Are you two very close?”

Fu Yi Wen turned around to look at her, her face helpless: “They’re gone. Stop pretending.”

A certain Teacher Tang blinked, carrying the act of playing dumb through to the end: “Pretending what?”

“Still pretending?” Fu Yi Wen put her hands on her hips, her helplessness turning into speechlessness: “You’re not the kind of person who gets bullied.”

Hearing this, Tang Ying suddenly laughed, the bit of pretense in her eyes swept away, replaced by a smugness shining with sharpness:

“You protected me even though you knew I was pretending.”

Fu Yi Wen turned her face away: “Don’t overthink it. I’m not speaking up for you. I just don’t want you to get hurt because of me.”

“What, would you feel bad if I got hurt?”

Fu Yi Wen shook her head decisively: “Tang Ying, I don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore.”

    “……”

The bit of a smile that had just condensed in her eyes instantly dissipated. When did she not know that Fu Yi Wen was so “eloquent”?

Tang Ying didn’t want to keep poking at her heart, and changed the subject: “So, can I start tomorrow?”

“Of course not!” Fu Yi Wen said firmly: “Aunt Qing Yu has already hired a teacher for me.”

    “Those teachers are no good.”

“No good?” Fu Yi Wen laughed in anger: “Do you know what kind of people Aunt Qing Yu hired for me? They’re all experts! Why do you say they’re no good?”

“If you don’t believe me, then let’s compare and see. It’s a good chance for me to learn about the level of experts.”

    “……”

Fu Yi Wen felt like she had fallen into a trap again.

She knew Tang Ying too well. This woman never fought unprepared battles. But on second thought, if she wanted to make Tang Ying back down and get rid of her completely, this might be the best opportunity.

“Okay, let’s compare.” Fu Yi Wen raised her chin: “Each teacher will have a one-week trial lecture, and I’ll score them. The one with the highest score will be my long-term TOEFL teacher.”

Tang Ying raised her eyebrows: “Will your scoring be fair?”

Fu Yi Wen was speechless: “You can not compare if you think it’s unfair.”

    “……”

This Fu Yi Wen, who seemed to be filled with gunpowder, gave Tang Ying the illusion that they had returned to their first meeting in high school.

    “I agree.”

“I have an additional condition.” Fu Yi Wen looked directly into Tang Ying’s eyes: “You can’t use any means to interfere with other competitors, otherwise you’ll be directly eliminated.”

She knew Tang Ying too well. Money could make the world go round. If there were no additional conditions, Tang Ying wouldn’t be above spending a lot of money to buy off others.

Tang Ying stared at the person in front of her, smiling noncommittally: “Are you sure you want to do this?”

Fu Yi Wen said unhappily: “If you give up now, you don’t have to bother so much.”

Tang Ying sneered, suddenly approaching, close enough for Fu Yi Wen to count her eyelashes: “Then I have a condition too.”

    “Don’t say it, I don’t agree.”

“When others are giving you lessons, I want to be there to listen.”

“? I told you not to say it!”

Tang Ying crossed her arms: “If I’m not there, how will you judge whether there’s a problem with what others are saying?”

Fu Yi Wen took half a step back, finding it funny: “Do you know what kind of people Aunt Qing Yu hired?”

“You just said it, experts.” Tang Ying’s tone was light, not panicking: “Since they’re experts, they’re even less afraid of people listening in. Maybe I can take this opportunity to learn something.”

    “……”

Tang Ying’s logic was flawless, and Fu Yi Wen was speechless.

How was there such a big difference between people? How was this person’s brain made!

Thinking that the additional conditions were already set, and that Tang Ying couldn’t do anything anyway, Fu Yi Wen finally compromised, and the two finally reached an agreement.

    “When does it start?”

    “Tomorrow.”

Tang Ying nodded and took out her phone: “Give me your current contact information.”

Fu Yi Wen was on her guard: “Why?”

Tang Ying stared at her, her tone vague: “I’m afraid you’ll disappear again when I wake up.”

    “……”

Fu Yi Wen was stunned for a moment, and reluctantly reported her current phone number.

    “Where do you live now?”

Fu Yi Wen became impatient: “You’re asking a bit too much!”

Tang Ying was righteous, her tone cold: “The teachers Chen Qing Yu hired for you are all one-on-one. If I don’t know where you live, how can I come to listen to the class?”

    “……”

Fu Yi Wen was momentarily speechless, and told Tang Ying the address in a fluster.

    Five-star hotel in Beverly Hills.

This Han Chu Hui was really not an ordinary person.

The bar door opened and closed. Tang Ying stood there, looking in the direction where Fu Yi Wen disappeared, a gleam of determination flashing in her eyes.

In less than an hour, Fu Yi Wen had let Tang Ying figure her out completely. If Chen Lu knew, she’d probably rush to Los Angeles overnight.

Han Chu Hui was just as exasperated.

After coming out of the surveillance room, she leaned against the bar. When Fu Yi Wen came back, the third cigarette had just been stubbed out violently in the ashtray.

    “Back?”

Han Chu Hui’s voice was three degrees colder than iced whiskey. She raised her hand and lit another cigarette, the scarlet flame flickering in the dimness, illuminating her tense jawline.

Seeing her with a stinky face, Fu Yi Wen knew she was in the wrong: “Aunt Chu Hui, I…”

    “I watched the surveillance.”

The cigarette that had been lit for only a few seconds was suddenly stubbed out on the marble countertop, making a harsh scraping sound. Every word Han Chu Hui said seemed to be squeezed out from between her teeth:

“Fu Yi Wen, ah, Fu Yi Wen, why do you never learn?”

    “……”

A suffocating silence spread between the two. Fu Yi Wen smiled wryly, her voice as light as a feather falling to the ground:

“Aunt Chu Hui, you don’t understand Tang Ying. If I don’t use this method to make her back down, she will keep…”

“I don’t need to understand her.” Han Chu Hui interrupted her coldly: “Listen, as long as you want, I can get her to disappear from your sight forever at any time.”

    “No way!”

Fu Yi Wen’s pupils shrank, her suddenly raised voice echoing in the empty bar. Seeing that it was attracting several customers to turn their heads and look curiously, she lowered her voice, but couldn’t hide the urgency in her tone:

    “You must not hurt her.”

Han Chu Hui narrowed her eyes, so angry that she wanted to laugh: “You’re still protecting her, huh? You haven’t let her go?”

“No, it’s not what you think.”

Fu Yi Wen shook her head, took a deep breath: “Although I don’t love her anymore, but she after all… after all, she was my teacher, she taught me, she was kind to me, I don’t want her to suffer any harm because of me.”

Her fingers clenched and then released. Fu Yi Wen paused, then raised her head and added:

“Besides, didn’t Aunt Qing Yu find me teachers who are all at the god level? Tang Ying can’t win.”

    “……”

Han Chu Hui scoffed, not saying anything.

She didn’t know whether Tang Ying could win against other teachers in terms of teaching ability, but judging from this momentum, wasn’t winning this little brat’s heart as easy as pie?
