    Chapter 10: Shouldn’t I Be Curious?

Having missed so much class time, Shu Lin obediently went to school the next morning, urged by his father and sister.

It had been a week, and last night he heard Shao Chengxi’s voice again.

As calm and collected as ever.

Shao Chengxi had called to say that at ten o’clock this morning, he and his Alpha father would visit the Shu family to formally meet the parents.

It seemed Assistant Cheng had delivered the message.

His reaction speed was truly fast.

Shu Lin hung up the phone and told Shu Jingcheng about it. His father was taken aback for a moment, then said:

“That’s right. From a matter of etiquette, the Alpha side should take the initiative to visit with their elders for the first meeting. It seems the Shao family understands this.”

Afterward, he and Shu Lingxiao discussed and decided that Shu Lin should still avoid this meeting.

Shu Lin was young and didn’t know what they were going to do, so he listened to his father and sister’s arrangements.

On the subway, he felt uneasy.

    He was conflicted.

On one hand, he wanted to stay home, meet Shao Chengxi and his father, and hear what they had to say.

On the other hand, he was afraid of meeting them.

Last night, when they mentioned that after the Shao family’s visit today, the next step would involve taking Shu Lin to live at the Shao Residence, the atmosphere at home immediately became heavy.

Only then did Shu Lin realize that marrying Shao Chengxi would bring such significant changes to his life.

He wouldn’t be able to live with his father and sister anymore.

He would have to live in an unfamiliar home, no longer have his own independent room, and sleep in the same bed as an unfamiliar Alpha.

The two of them would also have to be honest with each other and do, do that kind of thing.

Thinking of this, he felt sad and uneasy, tossing and turning all night, unable to sleep.

The subway sped along, the carriages crowded.

A face wearing a mask and hat, visible through the gaps in the crowd, was reflected on the train window. The beautiful almond-shaped eyes revealed a hint of green under them, filled with deep sorrow.

The first class in the morning was a general moral education course, with people from many departments taking it together.

Shu Lin walked into the tiered lecture hall, arriving in the last few minutes before class.

He took off his mask and hat, revealing a slightly tired but still exquisite face.

The faint dark circles under his beautiful almond-shaped eyes revealed his sleepless night.

He had just sat down and hadn’t even had time to open his bag when a commotion suddenly erupted in the classroom.

“Shu Lin!” A tall Alpha student walked over from the back row, holding a bouquet of red roses in his hand.

He had a confident smile on his face and walked straight to Shu Lin, kneeling on one knee, and said passionately:

“Shu Lin, I’ve liked you for a long time, and I want to pursue you. Can you give me a chance?”

The classroom instantly exploded, with students cheering, whistling, and banging on the tables, making enough noise to lift the roof.

Shu Lin rolled his eyes, turned his back, and covered his face in dismay.

Why did he always encounter such embarrassing situations in public classes?

Just then, a lazy voice came from the side:

“Hey, even if you’re confessing, can’t you be a little more original? Always doing it in the classroom, always with red roses, it’s so cliché. At least change the location, like the bathroom. That way, even if you get rejected, you don’t have to move. You can just cry there, and after you’re done crying, you can wash your face with water. How convenient.”

It was Gu Xiao, a male Beta, Shu Lin’s good friend.

With his arrival, Shu Lin breathed a sigh of relief.

The Alpha student said displeased, “Gu Xiao, what are you doing?!”

Gu Xiao shrugged and walked over to them. “What am I doing? Of course, I’m helping my darling out of a difficult situation. Look at you, making such a big scene, trying to force him. Look at how you’ve scared my darling, he doesn’t even dare to show his pretty face.”

The Alpha student craned his neck, “Nonsense, who’s forcing him? I really like Shu Lin.”

Gu Xiao walked up to the male Alpha and snapped his fingers casually, “Hey, buddy, believe me, no matter how much you like my darling, you have no chance. Not only do you have no chance, but none of the Alphas in the whole school have a chance.”

The Alpha student retorted, “You’re not Shu Lin, why are you deciding for him? Get out of the way.”

Gu Xiao exaggeratedly raised his eyebrows:

“Hey, you’re pretty persistent. Since you sincerely asked, then I’ll be kind enough to tell you. I had a master fortune-teller read my darling’s fortune. From now on, he can’t touch any bad romances, otherwise, there will be bloodshed.”

After speaking, he reinforced the statement, “This master is very accurate, and Shu Lin believes him the most, right, darling?”

Shu Lin quickly turned his head to cooperate, “That’s right! Classmate, I only believe the master. Please get up, I won’t accept any Alpha’s pursuit. I want to save my life.”

With such a disturbance, the Alpha knew that he really had no chance today, glared at Gu Xiao, and got up and left in frustration.

Shu Lin smiled at Gu Xiao and pulled him to sit next to him, “Thank you, Gu Xiao.”

Gu Xiao winked at him, smiling mischievously:

“What are you thanking me for? We’re best buds! But seriously, darling, you’re too attractive. This flower-plucking envoy can’t keep up. No, I need to get paid more, a lunch, plus a cup of milk tea, and not less!”

Shu Lin’s eyebrows curved as he gave him an OK sign, “No problem, I can even add a dish.”

Gu Xiao looked at his face and clicked his tongue exaggeratedly, “Darling, your face… a menace, a menace. By the way, are your dad and sister alright now?”

“They’re fine, they’re both doing well.”

The class bell rang, and Shu Lin absentmindedly finished this class, then went to physical education class with Gu Xiao.

After changing clothes in the locker room, there was still some time. Shu Lin pursed his lips, hesitated, and finally asked Gu Xiao in a low voice: “Actually… there are some things I don’t understand, and I want to ask you about them.”

Gu Xiao looked at him seriously and leaned in, “What is it? Tell me quickly.”

Shu Lin hesitated, pursing his lips several times, and finally said in a voice so low it was almost inaudible:

“It’s about… that thing between Alphas and Omegas, you know?”

Gu Xiao’s eyes widened instantly, and then he laughed so hard he bent over, slapping his thigh, “Darling, when did you suddenly get enlightened? I thought you’d be a pure little white flower your whole life.”

Shu Lin was embarrassed and quickly reached out to cover his mouth, “Keep it down! Don’t let others hear!”

Gu Xiao finally stopped laughing, wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes, and lowered his voice, “Alright, alright, quiet, quiet. Darling, why are you asking about this? Did you find a wild Alpha outside?”

Shu Lin pushed him, feeling guilty, “What nonsense are you talking about! I, I’m just curious, so what? Shouldn’t I be curious?”

Gu Xiao saw that he was embarrassed and restrained himself, looked around to make sure no one was there, and said mysteriously: “If you’re really curious, I can recommend a few classic short films, I guarantee you’ll understand as soon as you watch them.”

Shu Lin’s tongue was tied, “S-Short films? What short films? It’s not illegal, is it.”

Gu Xiao chuckled, leaned close to his ear, and said mysteriously:

“It’s the kind that teaches you about Alphas and Omegas… Don’t worry, I have a high-definition version, I guarantee you’ll understand everything clearly, do you want it?”

Shu Lin’s face was as red as an apple, looking awkward and embarrassed.

Gu Xiao snapped his fingers, “I get it.”

Shu Lin was even more ashamed.

He hadn’t even said anything yet, and he got it?

    What did he get?
