    58 Chapter 58

    ◎Like people drinking water.◎

Shen Lingjun briefly settled in a small village.

The transportation here is very inconvenient, and the signal in some places is not very good. Shen Lingjun couldn’t find a hotel, so he paid some money to stay at a grandma’s house for a few days.

But in fact, he is not used to living there. It is easy to go from frugality to luxury, but it is difficult to go from luxury to frugality. He was raised too well during his time in the Liang family, and now he suddenly arrives here and he is not used to food and accommodation, not to mention that he is always on tenterhooks.

To be on the safe side, Pan Siyun didn’t even tell Pan Siyun about his plans. He didn’t have time to think too much during those days on the road. Now that he has nothing to do all day long, he can’t help but think about school.

I want to send a message to Pan Siyun to ask if anyone is looking for him. What should I do if I sign in during the recent class? What should I do if I get all the deductions and fail the exam at the end of the semester?

Shen Lingjun belatedly realized that if he never went back, he would have to go out and find a job with a high school diploma. Moreover, he was still stupid, so he probably wouldn’t be able to find a good job, and even the bosses who needed a little bit of technical skills wouldn’t want him.

He lay on his back in a daze on the grass by the river bank. The sky was as blue as an oil painting. After getting to know his grandma a little better, he would help herd the sheep. Although he was paid, he felt guilty doing nothing. Fortunately, these lambs were very good and would not run around. Two of his special relatives would surround him and rub him, occasionally making some pearls.

Shen Lingjun casually grabbed a clean one and held it in his arms. The lamb had the smell of grass, mixed with the warmth of the hair being blown by the sun, and wrapped him gently. Shen Lingjun tilted his head. Sometimes he also wondered if he was too impulsive and if there was a better solution.

    But he couldn’t find it.

More often, he thought of Liang Ji’an.

He didn’t understand Liang Ji’an’s thoughts, and couldn’t figure out why someone could accept this clearly wrong relationship so calmly. He even hated Liang Ji’an, hated him for not being his brother properly, hated him for taking his only relative away from him, and hated that he was so good to him that he still couldn’t help but think about him.

The sound of barrels being knocked was heard from the cabin in the distance. Grandma indicated that he could lead the sheep back to the sheepfold. Shen Lingjun counted the number of lambs and took them home one by one.

Grandma likes him very much. Although he almost dropped a plate when he helped wash the dishes last time, this did not prevent her from comforting him with kind eyes and saying it was okay. When chatting, grandma asked him in dialect why he came here. This village has not been developed into a tourist attraction. Young people are running away, let alone tourists coming to play.

Shen Lingjun only said that he had conflicts with his family.

Grandma looked at him for a while, but her eyes were clearly looking further away, as if she was nostalgic for the past. After a long time, she said with a smile in a bad dialect: “I won’t advise you.”

“Everyone has his own path to take, and the things he encounters are also different.”

“If it seems important to you, then it is important.” She held the hot tea in her hand and said: “No one else will ever know how much you have eaten and whether you are full or not except yourself.”

Shen Lingjun seemed to have figured it out, but he was unavoidably afraid. In the end, he just hugged the tea cup without saying a word. The heat made his eyes sore. He still remembered that when he first arrived at Liang’s house, all he thought about was that he would never live alone again in the future.

He blinked to dissipate the moisture, smiled slightly at his grandma, and then a warm and thin hand gently stroked his cheek. The old man’s eyes were full of compassionate tolerance and care, “Maybe you plan to leave soon, but it is very tiring to keep walking on the road.”

Shen Lingjun has grown up and has insomnia for the first time.

He tossed and turned in bed but did not feel sleepy at all. He finally sat up and opened the small window. Stars were falling in the deep night. The sky was drooping as if it was touching the earth. Shen Lingjun stared blankly for a long time. The words grandma told him during the day repeatedly rang in his ears. He wrapped his knees in a quilt and huddled together, thinking that he did not want to walk on the road all the time.

Maybe Liang Ji’an likes it. He never seems to stop walking and does many things every day without getting tired. In Shen Lingjun’s eyes, it is no different from trekking through mountains and rivers.

What does he like about me?

Shen Lingjun began to think about the unanswered question again. He always hoped that this love would be traceable and that it would gradually develop according to some kind of logic. For example, he has a good personality, or he looks very good, or he is very successful in certain things.

But except for the second point, which he can boast about and create a sense of identity, all other conditions are not met.

Shen Lingjun finally came to the conclusion that Liang Ji’an was a strange person.

He ignored that love itself has no logic.

After leading himself into a dead end, Shen Lingjun felt sleepy as he wished. The late autumn weather was no longer disturbed by mosquitoes. He just propped up the wooden window and fell into a drifting dreamland under the night wind.

In the morning, he was woken up by the sound of the lamb licking his hand.

The lamb that was closest to him on weekdays raised its two front hooves and rested on the frame of the window, trying hard to support itself and climb in through the window. Shen Lingjun quickly fished it into the house, nodded its little head and muttered that it was annoying.

The lamb didn’t understand and thought he was playing with him. He pressed his head against his calf to urge him to take them to eat quickly.

Shen Lingjun stayed here for seven days, and the time went so slowly that he almost felt that Liang Jian really couldn’t find him.

He got up to wash up, took two small cakes that were still hot on the pot, followed by a group of strolling lambs, and walked slowly to the river.

Shen Lingjun often didn’t meet anyone for most of the day. His grandma took a long way to go to the market early this morning, so he went back for lunch a little later.

But today seemed different from usual. The closer he got to the hut, the faster his heart beat. In the end, it almost made him unable to breathe. It wasn’t until he stood at the door and saw someone sitting on a small wooden bench chatting with his grandma that he finally found the reason for this inexplicable heart palpitations.

Shen Lingjun’s first reaction was surprise.

Just like a playful child who got lost and was finally found and taken back by his parents, he looked at Liang Jian, who was sitting in a small house wearing a suit with long arms and legs. The strong sense of incongruity made him wake up from a dream. He took half a step back and turned around to run.

The lambs following him were frightened by his sudden movements and fled away, like a string of clouds falling on the grass. Shen Lingjun couldn’t care about anything. He only knew that he was going to run, and he couldn’t even take another look at Liang Ji’an.
