OMH Chapter 47
by VolareOh My Hero – Episode 47
47. Hooligan (11)
I finished talking with the Guide Director about positive prospects and returned to Woojin.
Woojin, who was receiving an IV drip in the Medical Center’s emergency room, had opened his eyes, seemingly regaining consciousness while we were gone.
“Oppa!”
Cha Wooreen shook off my hand that she was holding and ran to Woojin.
“You shouldn’t shout and run around in the emergency room!”
This applied not only to Cha Wooreen but also to me, so I ended up letting Cha Wooreen run off.
‘It’s better to just let her go than to run around and get kicked out again. Anyway, she’s just going to Woojin, who’s lying right in front of us. What could possibly happen?’
Thud-
“Waaaaah!”
Something did happen?
‘Little kids fall and cry on their own on a perfectly flat floor.’
I was having this newfound realization when Woojin, who had been lying down, got up.
His complexion is still pale, what is he doing getting up? I wanted to run over and lay him back down right away, but I couldn’t run in the emergency room.
I walked as fast as I could, but Woojin was faster to pick up Cha Wooreen, who was right in front of him.
“It’s okay. You’re not hurt. Stop crying.”
“It hurts here, so blow on it.”
Cha Wooreen was acting spoiled in front of Woojin, who was the real patient.
‘Well, she’s a kid. She can do that.’
Woojin accepted all her whining and even hugged her, so Cha Wooreen was soon smiling brightly. It was as if she had never cried in the first place.
In a good mood, Cha Wooreen began to chatter to Woojin as usual.
“Oppa, Hana and I met a scolding lady. Oh, so. Oh, the lady said that, oh, Oppa will become the team leader.”
“What does that mean?”
“Oh, the lady said she would make Oppa the team leader. She talked to Hana about it.”
‘No, is this little kid going around telling everyone things that are still confidential?!’
I quickly intervened, worried that other people might hear.
“Woojin, oh, Mr. Woojin, you’re awake! I’m glad you woke up so quickly. So…”
Ah, what should I talk about?
I usually had a lot to say, but Cha Wooreen suddenly blurted out confidential information, and my mind went blank.
They say you shouldn’t even drink cold water in front of children, is that why? I thought it would be okay to relax because she wouldn’t understand anyway, but I guess I made a mistake.
I desperately racked my brain to squeeze out something to say.
But Woojin in front of me is really handsome.
His white face with a slight blush today looks kind of cute. Speaking of blush, Woojin had a high fever earlier. Is he okay now?
I reached out and touched Woojin’s face.
‘No, this isn’t out of personal interest, I’m just checking his temperature.’
But Woojin’s face is still hot. It even seems redder than before I touched it? If he’s still like this even after getting an IV drip, isn’t it serious?
Worried, I took another step closer and looked up at Woojin.
Woojin’s clear, clean eyes, like a winter lake, that were looking down at me were trembling slightly.
And Woojin’s originally pale face is also extremely red.
‘What’s wrong? Is his fever still rising?’
I moved even closer to examine Woojin’s condition more closely.
Then, Woojin’s face turned even redder, and he suddenly pulled his body back.
Then he hit the back of his head very hard against the wall.
Bang-
Wow, that must hurt.
“Woojin, are you okay?”
Woojin, who had Cha Wooreen in his right arm and an IV needle in his left, couldn’t even touch the back of his head that he had hit and just shed a few tears.
“Oh no, what should I do? Did he get a concussion? Should I call Hwayoung again?”
I fidgeted and sat Woojin down on the bed.
Cha Wooreen, who had somehow gotten out of Woojin’s arms, was standing behind Woojin and blowing air on him, saying “Hoo~”.
I can’t lose either. I need to check if he has a bump on the back of his head.
But Woojin now pushed me away with his freed right arm.
“I’m okay. I’m okay, so please keep a little distance…”
Was it stuffy because I was too close? At Woojin’s request, I moved back a little.
Is this okay now?
“But what is this story about making me the team leader?”
Nope.
Unfortunately, Woojin did not forget his duty even when an unexpected accident occurred.
He’s handsome and smart, so he’s really cool, but it’s a bit troublesome. I can’t tell anyone yet.
‘But Woojin is asking, so I have to answer. He’s the person involved, so he needs to know.’
Still, I have to keep it as secret as possible, so I whispered to Woojin. The kind Woojin tilted his head towards me, ready to listen to what I had to say.
“…The Guide Director is thinking of appointing you as the field team leader.”
I kept it short because someone might overhear if it was too long.
It sounds like there’s no difference from what Cha Wooreen said, but anyway, I did convey an important fact.
I put my index finger to my lips and made a gesture that I shouldn’t tell anyone.
Woojin had a puzzled expression but nodded.
‘He listens well and is pretty, our Woojin.’
I smiled brightly and unknowingly stroked Woojin’s hair.
Woojin didn’t avoid it this time and just blushed.
*
Woojin showed remarkable performance in yesterday’s mission, but he ended up with body aches because the mission was so difficult.
So he couldn’t train today.
Director Kim is nagging me to make him a team leader, and there’s a mission scheduled for next week, but what can I do? Woojin is sick.
Woojin still has a fever even though he got an IV drip in the emergency room, so he’s lying down with a fever-reducing patch on his forehead.
When I met him in the emergency room, he had a lot of IV fluid left, so I just opened a field training manual and made him memorize it to relieve boredom and do my job, but his fever rose after that. I didn’t expect this.
Anyway, I’ll let him rest now, and when he wakes up, I should feed him some porridge.
I transferred the porridge I packed from the restaurant into a pot.
It would have been better to cook it myself with care, but I had no cooking utensils in my room, so I had no choice but to buy it.
In the first place, the pot wasn’t even mine, I brought it from Kim Sanghyuk’s room. The owner of the room wasn’t inside, so I went in through the window to get it.
The door opens with the room owner’s fingerprint recognition, but not the window, so it’s useful when no one is in the room.
After preparing the porridge to feed Woojin, there wasn’t much to do.
‘What should I do? Should I do the laundry in advance?’
Living alone, and then living with three people, has created a lot of odd jobs.
Cha Wooreen has brought a lot of dolls and cushions from here and there, so the laundry is more than three times what it was when I lived alone.
Even as I’m thinking this, Cha Wooreen is taking out dolls and cushions and playing with them. Such a carefree child.
Cha Wooreen was busy playing, putting dolls one by one between Woojin’s armpits or in his hands.
‘But if I leave that there, won’t Woojin’s fever rise even more?’
I was worried for no reason and approached Cha Wooreen.
Ding-dong-
No, I was about to approach, but someone rang my doorbell.
Ding-dong, ding, ding, ding, ding-dong- dding-dong- ding-dong-
“Ah, who is it? Stop ringing!”
I immediately went to the front door and threw it open.
The person outside the door was Kim Sanghyuk.
“What? Why did you come?”
“Hey, the monster you caught this time was amazing! That, up.”
I covered Kim Sanghyuk’s mouth with my palm, who was shouting out of the blue. This bastard is making a lot of noise while Woojin is sleeping. And went outside as it was.
I let go of the hand that had covered his mouth only after entering Kim Sanghyuk’s room.
“Okay, now talk.”
“The monster you caught yesterday was an ‘Alaskan Bull Earthworm’? Did you know?”
“Al… what? What bug? What is that?”
“Alaskan Bull Earthworm! It’s famous, that thing! The one that devastated this area last time, they said it goes too deep into the ground to catch once it hides. You said you only caught the ones that had offspring.”
Ah, come to think of it, there was such a thing.
‘Was it a little over a month ago?’
I heard that there were quite a lot of civilians living not in Downtown but a little further away from there, and that area was devastated by the monster.
So, the life-saving team, the monster extermination team, and our team, the Great Monster Extermination Team, worked together on a large scale.
‘I caught a lot of things back then, but I didn’t catch anything substantial.’
I remember they said they couldn’t find it because it went deep into the ground.
So I went jogging in that direction for a while. That’s how I saved Woojin too. Now that I think about it, it’s kind of a memory.
“But why is the name of the monster we couldn’t catch back then ‘Alaskan Bull Earthworm’? It looks like an earthworm, but it doesn’t seem like the EGA Association gave it that name?”
“I don’t know either. Everyone calls it that? Anyway, you must be proud to have defeated a large monster alone? You’ll get a bonus. Treat me.”
“I’m busy because I have to do missions for the time being. Is that all you have to say?”
“Oh? Oh, right? Everyone who came back from the field only talks about you catching the monster alone. Your dazzling performance is constantly on the lips of the people who were rescued. Congratulations.”
“Um… yeah. But didn’t people say anything else? Like, the story of a great sniper.”
“Sniper? I haven’t heard anything like that?”
“Ah, I see.”
It would be good if the people rescued from the field spread the word about Woojin’s performance, but only my story came out, so I was quite disappointed.
‘Well, it’s hard to know about Woojin’s performance unless you’re a combatant who directly experienced it.’
However, the more eyewitnesses on the scene, the better. It’s easier to get recognized as a team leader if you have a lot of heroic stories.
In order to make Woojin a ‘field specialist Guide team leader,’ Woojin had to stand out in future missions.
