OMH Chapter 34
by Volare34. The S-Grades I Ended Up Raising (15)
Cha Woojin followed Gang Hana into room 172 of Research Center A.
He felt uneasy and puzzled since he had been caught here yesterday instead of attending class. But after hearing Gang Hana explain that they shouldn’t be apart for close monitoring, he decided to just let things be.
Anyway, there was nothing he could do about it here.
Regardless of what Cha Woojin was thinking, Gang Hana diligently went about her work.
While Cha Woojin squatted on the floor, leaning against the wall and taking care of his whining younger sister, Gang Hana put three teenage Espers through grueling training.
Unlike the busy Gang Hana, Cha Woojin had nothing much to do, so he played with his young sister, who craved his attention.
Just as Cha Woojin was thinking that the day would pass like this, Gang Hana approached him carrying a huge stack of books and papers.
“Woojin, did you wait long? Now I’ll educate you. When I looked at your luggage yesterday, it didn’t seem like you had any textbooks, so I prepared some.”
With those words, Gang Hana dumped the pile of papers in front of Cha Woojin.
Cha Woojin was inwardly flustered by the sight.
He had seen her carrying a bunch of things, including a laptop and various booklets, from early in the morning, but he had never imagined that it was all for him.
“Let’s look at this first. You heard the basic explanation about the Association, right? First, let me ask you some questions to see how much you know.”
“…….”
“You have to listen carefully because you have to take a test after you finish the basic education. You can start a normal life as an Association member only after completing the basic education. You know that from class, right?”
Gang Hana stuck close to Cha Woojin and poured out a lot of words, as usual.
But the words she was saying now were not the kind that could be casually ignored like usual.
Cha Woojin was slightly intimidated by Gang Hana’s constant questioning about knowledge he didn’t have.
Gang Hana’s tone was kind and gentle, but the content of the questions was to check how diligently Cha Woojin had listened to the class.
Even though he answered “I don’t know” to most of the questions, Gang Hana didn’t seem upset at all.
Rather, she said that she would explain everything in detail from the beginning and started the class.
Cha Woojin was relieved by Gang Hana’s usual appearance.
Gang Hana was kind as usual, and Cha Woojin listened to the class diligently, unlike what he had done in the lecture room the other day.
As the class was coming to an end, Cha Woojin realized that more people had gathered around him.
Before he knew it, the three teenagers were sitting next to him.
Among them, the Esper with the flamboyant hair who had harmed him said to Gang Hana.
“Senior, are you done yet? We’ve been waiting for a long time. It’s the special education time for high-risk Espers~ Why are you only holding onto the rookie Guide~?”
“Looks like you’ve shortened your lap times in the training grounds a lot? You finished your basic physical training a long time ago, right? I’ll check your records later. Try practicing your abilities now.”
“……You just told us to run laps and kept flirting with the Guide, when did you check the records?”
“I’ve been filming you since you started, so don’t worry. I’m recording everything, the records and the process. Go and do it. I’ll be done soon.”
Gang Hana replied without taking her eyes off Cha Woojin and his class materials, and chased the kids away.
The teenagers, unaware that Gang Hana had been filming them, stiffened their faces and went back to their seats.
Whether it was just an excuse or not, Gang Hana finished the class soon.
However, a new set of printouts was placed in front of Cha Woojin, who thought it was over.
“I wish I could invest more time, but I have something to do for now. But if I just end it like this, the memory will fade, so solve this at least. It’s a review of what I taught you just now, so it will be easy to solve. I’ll go do some work and come back to grade it. You have plenty of time, so solve it carefully.”
Gang Hana chattered away and left Cha Woojin.
“…….”
Left all alone, Cha Woojin picked up the printout she had left behind.
It was a worksheet filled with a whopping 50 short-answer questions. It was in the form of filling in the blanks in sentences, and there were basically three blanks in each question.
“Haa…….”
Cha Woojin resentfully looked at Gang Hana, who had given him such a cruel worksheet after only a 20-minute class, and decided to solve the problems diligently.
She said she would grade it later, so he had to fill in the blanks.
Cha Woojin diligently solved the problems, ignoring his younger sister, who was clinging to him, saying she was bored.
But even though it was what he had just learned, filling in the blanks in 50 sentences full of unfamiliar content was not an easy task.
Cha Woojin, groaning and racking his brains, was overcome with the urge to peek at the textbook and fill in the blanks.
But Gang Hana had left only the worksheet and cleared away all the class materials, so he couldn’t do that.
Cha Woojin wistfully glared at the materials that Gang Hana had moved far away.
The other Espers all seemed busy and not interested in him.
‘Wouldn’t it be okay to secretly take it, look at it, and put it back?’
Just as Cha Woojin was thinking that and looking at the Espers, he made eye contact with one of them.
It was the Esper with the flamboyant hair who had harassed him the other day, saying he could read his thoughts.
“!!”
Cha Woojin quickly lowered his head. It seemed better to give up the plan to steal the textbook.
If that Esper read his thoughts again, it would be an embarrassing situation.
Cha Woojin eventually gave up on his luck and decided to solve the problems diligently again.
However, Cha Woojin realized that he could be embarrassed even if he solved the problems honestly.
Cha Woojin was upset with Gang Hana.
But Cha Woojin knew that he had done nothing wrong.
He had kept his word without fail.
He gave him an hour and a half, which was the time until the end of class, to solve the problems, and only graded Cha Woojin’s worksheet after almost finishing organizing his things.
But the problem was that his score was terrible.
Out of 50 short-answer questions, Cha Woojin had only answered 3 correctly.
Of course, Cha Woojin had tried to answer the other 47 questions as well, but just because he tried didn’t mean the answers were correct.
Cha Woojin glared at the three circles and his worksheet with a lot of rain marks (X marks).
Although the result was bad, he had done his best.
Wasn’t the person who made him take this kind of test right after listening to a 20-minute class that went by like a story the bad one?
The grading happened to be done right after finishing the Esper class, so his score was revealed to the teenagers as well.
The teenagers, who would normally have left after class, remained and checked Cha Woojin’s score, staring at him intently.
There was no hint of mockery, but Cha Woojin felt like the dumbest person in the world.
No one said anything, but his face grew increasingly hot with shame.
However, Gang Hana didn’t see Cha Woojin like that, and was only looking at the disastrous grading result. Cha Woojin resented his indifference.
‘Did he really not expect this kind of result after making me take a test out of the blue?’
While Cha Woojin was grumbling inwardly, Gang Hana, who had been staring at the grading result with a serious expression, turned his head to Cha Woojin.
“…….”
Cha Woojin was very nervous because he was sure that the much smaller young man would give him a contemptuous look.
But contrary to his expectations, he had a smiling face as usual.
Cha Woojin was momentarily flustered by the unexpected reaction.
At the same time, Cha Woojin was momentarily lost in thought, thinking that Gang Hana’s smiling face was somehow cute.
The man spoke to Cha Woojin with his usual innocent face and gentle voice.
“The questions must have been very difficult. It’s okay, it can happen~ But this is basic content, so you really need to know it. No, no. I’m not saying it’s your fault. You might not know it. If you don’t know it, you can just memorize it now~ So it’s okay. I’ll help you.”
“…….”
“First of all, you can memorize everything if you write the wrong answers repeatedly. About thirty times? Filling in the blanks in the sentences that came out in the questions.”
“Here…?”
“Yes, yes. There are 50 questions in total, which is a bit long, right? I’ll give you a notebook, so write them 30 times each.”
“You want me to write all this by hand?”
“That’s right. You’ll be writing it by hand~ You just have to write it all today. You have plenty of time, so don’t feel pressured.”
“…….”
Gang Hana gave him a very burdensome homework assignment, talking a lot kindly as usual.
But Cha Woojin just tried to dismiss it as a joke or empty words.
Suddenly telling him to do “Kkamji” (repetitive writing as punishment), something he would have only done in his school days.
It was such an absurd thing for someone who was so enthusiastically expressing his affection for him to say that he didn’t want to take it seriously at all.
Because it was said in a gentle voice that wasn’t coercive, it seemed like he could easily brush it off as a joke.
But that was only for a moment, and Cha Woojin soon realized that he couldn’t when he saw him hand him a thick notebook and writing utensils.
Gang Hana made sure that Cha Woojin did the “Kkamji”.
Gang Hana’s attitude was always kind, but kindness didn’t completely hide the oppressiveness.
Gang Hana urged Cha Woojin to write the “Kkamji” even during the short time he was waiting for his food to come out at the restaurant where he had come to eat lunch right after class.
Moreover, if Cha Woojin showed that he didn’t like it, he immediately threatened him by saying that Cha Woojin had to pass the test that would be held in three days.
“…….”
Of course, Gang Hana didn’t scold or mock him, but the fact that he added that the Guide Director was watching Cha Woojin’s actions was more than enough to intimidate him.
Cha Woojin recalled the middle-aged woman who was eager to punish him.
‘That woman with an unusual aura whom I met yesterday.’
She was in a leadership position here and disapproved of him.
He didn’t know exactly what kind of disadvantage the words “send him to the Research Center” would entail, but Cha Woojin, slightly frightened, followed Gang Hana’s instructions.
