    Chapter 73 – Street Fight

Lin Shengjia wasn’t sure what exactly happened. He only knew that he was riding his bike normally on the road when suddenly a person darted out from the roadside and kicked his front wheel hard, causing him and his bike to flip over.

Before he could react, several young men emerged from the side of the street. Together with the one who kicked his bike, they swarmed him, dragging Lin Shengjia into a dark alleyway. Lin Shengjia saw the dim alley and a sense of danger washed over him. He began to struggle desperately and shout, but there were no other pedestrians nearby. Moreover, as soon as he shouted, he was punched hard in the abdomen, and he immediately could not utter a sound.

The men took the opportunity to drag Lin Shengjia further into the alley.

“Wait, wait a minute…!” Lin Shengjia struggled to speak. “What are you doing?! You’ve got the wrong person!”

“Stop talking nonsense, we’re hitting you!” Another kick landed on Lin Shengjia. “I heard you’re a big shot, a top high school student, right? You think you’re so cool, huh?”

    –These people…!

Lin Shengjia was no fool. He knew that these street thugs weren’t there to just give him a few hits and call it a day. Even if they weren’t sent by Ji Xingzhe, he was most likely involved.

–What does that idiot want now? Beat me to death? Or cripple me and force me to drop out of school?!

Lin Shengjia didn’t know how to ask for help right now, but he wasn’t just a bookworm, nor was he a clueless kid who would just get beaten. His vision began to adjust to the dimness, and he saw that the closest figure was right next to him. So, he bent his leg and kicked with all his might!

    Bang! Clang!

The person was caught off guard and kicked in the calf, stumbling back uncontrollably for a few steps before crashing into a trash can and falling to the ground along with it. The others seemed not to have anticipated this and were stunned for a few seconds. In those few seconds, Lin Shengjia had already struggled to his feet and grabbed something from the ground. He wasn’t sure if it was a big rock or a piece of brick, but he grabbed it in his hand.

The others came back to their senses and immediately started cursing and rushing towards Lin Shengjia to attack: “You f*ing…!”

Lin Shengjia was no pushover either. He knew the key to fighting against multiple opponents – focus on one and go for the kill – raised his head and smashed the brick down on the head of the guy who hadn’t gotten up yet!

    Bang!

    Clang!!!

A muffled sound and a crisp sound rang out almost simultaneously. The muffled sound was the guy on the ground dodging in a hurry, and the brick hit his shoulder and back; the crisp sound came from the entrance of the alley. The small punks were very familiar with the sound of glass beer bottles exploding.

Someone subconsciously looked towards the sound, only to see a figure standing at the entrance of the alley, silhouetted against the light so they couldn’t make out their face. He held the half-shattered beer bottle in one hand, and took off his glasses with the other hand and put them in his pocket, the slow movements were very arrogant.

    He said, “Fighting, huh?”

The small punk cursed, “Get lost if it’s none of your business, idiot! Or we’ll beat you too!”

“That won’t do, you’re hitting my student.”

Ning Fei smiled silently, but no one saw it in the dimness. He took a step forward, his shoe crunching on the broken glass shards: “If you don’t get lost, then I can only desperately protect my student.”

Lin Shengjia recognized Ning Fei’s voice, and he couldn’t tell if it was gratitude or speechlessness: “Run, call the police!”

“How can I abandon my student? I…” Ning Fei hadn’t finished speaking when one person had already rushed towards him with a mouthful of foul language, raising a fist to slam into his face! Ning Fei dodged sideways, and using the other person’s momentum as they got closer, thrust the broken beer bottle into the other person’s abdomen! The incoming inertia plus Ning Fei’s relentless thrust pierced the other person’s thin T-shirt instantly, and blood was almost immediately visible in the abdomen.

    “Huh…!”

“I’m holding a broken beer bottle, don’t you even understand that?”

Ning Fei whispered this sentence in the other person’s ear, and then kicked the person away. A good beer bottle is a great tool for “cracking heads,” but a broken beer bottle is no different from a knife. Ning Fei directly smashed the beer bottle in half from the start, both to intimidate and to make it “easier to use.” Even if Ning Fei wasn’t some martial arts master, this kind of street fight was too elementary for Ning Fei.

Being stuck in the “good teacher” box for several months was already annoying enough for Ning Fei. Now that someone was offering themselves up, it would be more satisfying to go all out.

This one move immediately ignited the temper of several hooligans and attracted their “focus fire.” They swarmed straight towards Ning Fei, some even taking out switchblades from their pockets, recklessly stabbing in Ning Fei’s direction! Ning Fei bent down and grabbed a bag of garbage from the ground. He wasn’t sure what was in it, but he smashed it hard on their faces. Taking advantage of their dazed moment as they waved away the garbage, he grabbed one of their arms and twisted it back with force, forcing the person to turn their back, just in time for a knife from a returning companion to slash him!

“Ah!!!” The person screamed miserably and cursed, “Are you f*ing looking for death?! Are you blind… Uh!”

Ning Fei kicked him in the back of the knee, and he involuntarily knelt down heavily, his knees aching. Ning Fei also stabbed him hard on the hand behind his back, but he might not have hit it right, but he definitely stabbed someone. The others continued to surge forward. In the chaos, there was the sound of something being thrown to the ground and stepped on, and a knife that barely grazed Ning Fei’s face. The side of his face felt a thin, stinging pain, like some kind of electrical signal, which made Ning Fei kick someone away with a powerful kick!

    Bang!

Before that person could get up, Lin Shengjia raised the broken brick and smashed it hard on the back of his head!

Another person fell down, dizzy and seeing stars.

    ……

Lin’s parents rushed to the hospital late at night and saw that their son was still sitting properly by himself. Even though he was covered in dust and had bruises on his face and hands, the couple secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

“Jiajia, are you okay! Where are you hurt? What did the doctor say…”

A series of rapid-fire questions left Lin Shengjia to only answer the key points, indicating that he only had abrasions and bruises on his body and that no internal organs or bones were injured, so it was not a big deal. A young policeman nearby helped to add that the films had all been taken, a comprehensive examination had also been done, and the results would be issued after an injury assessment. After Lin’s couple had finished their concern for their son’s situation, Luo Xiuping quickly asked the policeman: “Officer, you’ve worked hard, what exactly happened? Why was my son beaten? Who beat him? Have those people been caught now?”

The young policeman understood the parents’ tension and answered in great detail: “It was a group of unemployed hooligans causing trouble. The preliminary questioning revealed that they just randomly found someone on the road to beat up, but we will investigate further. As for the people…”

Lin Shengjia interjected: “They definitely didn’t just randomly find someone to beat up. They knew which school I was a student at, and they also said they heard how I was doing in school, how could they just randomly find a unlucky person? But I don’t know them at all!”

“We’ve already recorded this, and we’ll investigate it clearly.” The young policeman replied, “It’s just that right now, most of them are more seriously injured, so they are still being treated in the hospital. Don’t worry, we’ll keep an eye on them so they don’t run away.”

Lin’s father didn’t quite believe it: “Didn’t you say there were four of them, how could they be more seriously injured than my son? Don’t tell me they’re trying to scam us!”

“No.” Speaking of this, the young policeman was a little bit dumbfounded, “The child’s teacher, surnamed Ning, happened to pass by. To help him, he grabbed a broken beer bottle and rushed in. Two of those hooligans were stabbed with the beer bottle, one was slashed, and another was hit on the head with a brick. They went pretty hard. That teacher was also slashed by the other party’s knife, he just finished bandaging and got a shot, and he’s describing the situation to my colleague over there in the corner of the stairs.”

“Oh dear, Teacher Ning was also injured!” Lin’s couple said in surprise, “Is the teacher okay? He was saving the child, it wasn’t intentional, you can’t arrest him, right? Don’t let those people extort him!”

“It’s likely to be a normal defense, that group admitted that they were the ones who started it, and there’s blood on their knives too, we’ve also confiscated them.” The young policeman reassured, “By the way, Teacher Ning called the police first before helping, he said he didn’t even have time to hang up when he rushed in. Although his phone was broken, the command center should have a recording, which can also be considered evidence. Don’t worry, we definitely won’t arrest people indiscriminately.”

“That’s good, that’s good.” Luo Xiuping nodded, and then asked, “Then our child, and Teacher Ning, when can they go home? Don’t tell me they still have to go to the police station? It’s so late, the child and the teacher still have to go to school tomorrow!”

“You can leave now. Teacher Ning, I guess he can go home after the conversation. But you can’t run around randomly, we may still look for you to investigate, so we need to be able to contact you at any time.” The young policeman said, “One of the parents please register your work unit and contact number for me, so it’s convenient to find you to bring the child for investigation.”

“Okay, okay.” Luo Xiuping arranged, “Lao Lin, you go register, and then wait for Teacher Ning to go home together, don’t let Teacher Ning be all alone. I don’t know which jerk caused the trouble for our child, let’s send the child to and from school recently, if not, we’ll ask Chenghong to help send him…”

Just as she was saying this, Ning Fei and another middle-aged policeman walked from the other end of the corridor. He was also dirty, with small patches of blood on his clothes and pants. A square gauze was pasted on the side of his face, and he wasn’t wearing glasses, his eyes revealing a sharp look.

“Teacher Ning!” Lin’s couple quickly greeted him, and went on to ask him questions. Ning Fei smiled, and the cold atmosphere on his body dissipated, and he cordially responded to their questions. Finally, Ning Fei left with Lin’s family. His phone was still broken, so he left the contact number for the school office and the Lin family across the street.

The young policeman watched the figures of the few people disappear, clicking his tongue and sighing: “I didn’t expect that teacher to look so gentle, but he fights so fiercely. If the opening of the glass bottle wasn’t deep enough, maybe he could have stabbed those punks with serious injuries.”

“He definitely knows how to fight, those punks’ switchblades are no joke, if they hit the right spot, they could be fatal!” The middle-aged policeman replied, “You don’t know, he said he asked those punks why they were hitting his student. One of the punks admitted that a student from a key high school gave them money to hit the person.”

The young policeman clicked his tongue: “…It’s actually a conflict between students? They went too far! Are the children of key high schools also like this?”

“You’re still young, you haven’t noticed the key point hidden in this matter.” The middle-aged policeman lowered his voice and said earnestly.

“Right now, that group of people is lying in bed, stubbornly saying that they just randomly found someone to hit, without a specific target. How badly did they have to be beaten before they admitted to receiving money?”
