    Chapter 134: A Fruitless Return

Shí Yan spat out a mouthful of blood, raised his eyes to look at Jiang Jiuchu, “Don’t move.”

Jiang Jiuchu was startled by Shí Yan’s serious expression and stopped struggling. She only felt an extreme burning sensation around her ankle.

Watching Shí Yan help her suck out the venomous blood without any sign of disgust, her expression was somewhat dazed. Her heart seemed to rise with a strange feeling with each of his sucks.

Seeing the look on Jiuchu’s face, Shí Xiu’s eyes darkened. He pursed his lips and spoke to Jiang Jiuchu:

“Just sucking out the venomous blood isn’t enough. You still need to apply detoxifying herbs. I’ll go find some. Where there are poisonous snakes, there should be herbs nearby.”

“Okay, thank you.” Jiang Jiuchu’s mind was pulled back a little by Shí Xiu’s words. She said to Shí Yan, “Okay, that should be enough!”

Shí Yan didn’t have time to pay attention to Jiang Jiuchu, still sucking mouthful after mouthful, until he had spat out several mouthfuls of bright red blood before stopping.

Jiang Jiuchu immediately urged, “Hurry and rinse your mouth by the stream.”

Shí Yan raised his sleeve and wiped his mouth, asking Jiang Jiuchu, “How do you feel? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?”

“I’m fine, I don’t feel anything obvious. Hurry and rinse your mouth.”

After she finished speaking, seeing Shí Yan seemed about to help her put on her socks, she quickly reached out and grabbed the socks, urging urgently, “I’ll put them on myself, you go rinse your mouth quickly, what if I’m not poisoned, but you get poisoned?”

“It’s okay, I spat it all out.”

Jiang Jiuchu was anxious when she heard this, thinking, is this a matter of spitting it all out? Doesn’t this guy have a cleanliness obsession?

She immediately put on a stern face, brooking no argument, “No, you have to rinse your mouth.”

“Okay.” Shí Yan smiled, got up, and walked towards the stream.

Jiang Jiuchu looked at Shí Yan’s back, the socks in her hand still unmoving, until Shí Yan rinsed his mouth, stood up, and she quickly withdrew her gaze and put on the socks in her hand.

Not far away, Shí Xiu quickly found the detoxifying herbs. He found a stone slab to crush them and tore off a piece of his clothes. Just as he walked up to Jiang Jiuchu and was about to squat down, Shí Yan reached over and said, “Give it to me, I’ll do it.”

Shí Xiu paused, handing the mashed herbs and cloth strips to Shí Yan, but Shí Yan only took the herbs and did not take the piece of clothing he had torn off.

Shí Xiu sneered in his heart, thinking, then don’t take my herbs if you have the guts.

Seeing this, Jiang Jiuchu awkwardly gave Shí Xiu a silent smile, watching Shí Yan tear off a piece of his own clothes to bandage her, thinking to herself, this person is probably jealous!

Seeing Shí Yan finish bandaging, she immediately took the shoes and put them on herself, then asked him, “How did you find us? There’s a formation here, we can’t get out.”

Shí Yan helped Jiang Jiuchu up, his voice seemed to carry a hint of mockery, “Don’t worry, a small bewilderment array can’t stump this Prince.”

Hearing this, Jiang Jiuchu looked at Shí Yan with adoration in her eyes, “You even know this?”

Shí Yan smiled, “I only know a little, but it’s enough to break this formation.”

“Let’s go! I’ll take you out.” After he finished speaking, he picked up Jiang Jiuchu and carried her towards the horses.

“Hey! I can walk, no need to carry me.” Seeing that Shí Yan turned a deaf ear, Jiang Jiuchu didn’t say anything more. She looked at Shí Xiu, who was standing still behind her, and shouted, “Fifth Prince, hurry and catch up.”

Shí Xiu retracted his dark eyes and smiled at Jiang Jiuchu, “Okay.”

“Why call him? Maybe he can walk out on his own if you’re not here!”

Although Shí Yan had no evidence, Shí Xiu’s eyes when he looked at Jiang Jiuchu made him suspect that this was all his plan.

Shí Yan’s words sounded to Jiang Jiuchu as if she was holding him back, “What do you mean he can walk out if I’m not here! I had him lead the way the whole time and didn’t express any opinions, and we still couldn’t get out, what does it have to do with me?”

Shí Yan didn’t have any evidence and couldn’t say it directly, so he said, “Then he’s so stupid, you should stay away from him in the future.”

After he finished speaking, before Jiang Jiuchu could speak, he immediately said, “By the way, how did you get in here? Did the horse get spooked?”

Jiang Jiuchu curled her lips, glanced behind her, and made sure that Shí Xiu didn’t hear Shí Yan’s words, so she didn’t argue with Shí Yan.

“The horse wasn’t spooked, it seemed to be attracted by a kind of purple flower grass. It ran all the way here and started eating that grass directly.”

“Take me to see.” Shí Yan put Jiang Jiuchu on his horse, increasingly suspecting that this was a premeditated scheme.

Jiang Jiuchu led Shí Yan to the side of the forest, pointing to the bottom, “It’s this kind of grass, do you recognize it?”

“This is purple flower grass that is only found in the north. There is almost none in the south. Horses really love to eat it.”

Jiang Jiuchu looked at the red tail following beside her, “It’s really a greedy horse, other horses don’t seem to be like this.”

“Other horses haven’t eaten it before, and this red tail should have been fed this kind of grass all along. It probably fasted for a few days and couldn’t resist the temptation and ran straight in.”

Shí Yan’s eyes were deep. If all of this wasn’t a coincidence, then this Shí Xiu was really scheming and had even extended his hand to Ji Shutíng.

He lowered his eyes and looked at Jiang Jiuchu, who was attracting bees and butterflies without realizing it, and directly hugged her from in front of him to behind him. Then, with a flick of his whip, he headed forward.

Shí Xiu, who was following behind, glanced at the purple flower grass and curled his lips into a cold smile. What if he guessed? In the end, there was no evidence.

He just didn’t expect Shí Yan to understand the bewilderment array, causing his carefully planned scheme to fail and instead do him a favor.

He could clearly feel just now, when Shí Yan was helping Jiang Jiuchu suck out the poison, the change in Jiang Jiuchu’s eyes.

A trace of worry floated in his eyes, worried that if this continued, Jiang Jiuchu might fall in love with Shí Yan.

And Jiang Jiuchu, who was being carried by Shí Yan at full speed in front, stared intently at the back in front of her, at the clothes torn at the arm, her small hands grasping Shí Yan’s waist clothes slowly loosened and moved forward, hugging his waist.

Shí Yan lowered his eyes and looked at the small hands stretched out around his waist, the smile on his lips was more dazzling than the bright sun piercing through the woods.

On the racecourse, Fàn Yùwǎn looked at the backs of Shí Yan and Jiang Jiuchu appearing, a look of disappointment floated in her eyes, she thought heaven was helping her too, but they returned safely, making her happy for nothing.

“What’s the situation? Did the Seventh Princess’s horse get spooked?” Emperor Yue An looked at Jiang Jiuchu and his disheveled son and asked.

Before Jiang Jiuchu could speak, Shí Yan took the lead in replying, “In response to Father Emperor, it was indeed the horse that got spooked, causing Father Emperor to worry. The Princess Consort was frightened, and I will now take her back to the mansion.”

“Go!” Emperor Yue An waved his hand and ordered someone to fire a signal flare.

Those searching in the forest, seeing the signal flare released, immediately turned back.

Jiang Jiuche’s anxious expression also relaxed when he saw the signal flare, and he quickly rode out of the forest, thinking that his sister was having bad luck this year, and it would be better to participate in these activities less often in the future.

Out of a total of three participations, there had been two incidents.

At the Jiang residence, Jiang Yuan and his wife saw Shí Yan and Jiang Jiuchu’s disheveled appearance and asked with concern, “Chuer, what happened to you?”

“Father, Mother, it’s okay. I just accidentally ran into the forest while racing horses. His Highness was worried about me and was anxious to find me, so his clothes were scratched by the branches.”

Jiang Yuan and his wife had never been to the royal gardens, and didn’t know how horse racing could lead to the forest, but seeing that the two of them were fine, they nodded and said:

“Then you hurry back to Crabapple Courtyard, I’ll have someone send you two buckets of hot water to wash up.”

“By the way, where’s your brother?”

Madam Ye seemed to just remember Jiang Jiuche, who had gone out with them.

“My brother is behind, he should be back soon.” After Jiang Jiuchu finished speaking, she and Shí Yan returned to Crabapple Courtyard.

Seeing the disheveled appearance of the two, Green Lo and Green Yi were shocked and quickly ran forward, “Your Highness, Princess Consort, what happened to you?”

“Don’t worry, we’re fine……” Before Jiang Jiuchu could finish speaking, she was pulled back into the room by Shí Yan.
