IM Chapter 44
by VolareYan ZhuGui’s car had just stopped, and he hadn’t even gotten out when he received a phone call.
“How is it?” he asked into the phone.
“It’s confirmed, it’s not there.” It was Uncle Lu’s voice.
The Alpha’s lips curved into a bright smile, “Good, you can release him.”
He had just hung up the phone when he saw Xu Chen coming out of the company.
As soon as Xu Chen left the company gate, he saw the particularly eye-catching Ferrari 812 Superfast parked at the entrance.
Here he comes again?
He didn’t want to run into him, but just as he turned his head to avoid Yan ZhuGui, the man leaned against the car door, still holding his phone. “Where are you going?”
Xu Chen paused slightly, turned to look at him, his tone distant. “I have nothing to say to you.”
“But I have something I want to talk to you about,” Yan ZhuGui patted his attention-grabbing car door, “Come on, get in the car.”
Xu Chen lowered his long, narrow eyes, the emotion in them calm and still. “If there’s anything you can’t say now, why would you need to say it in the car?”
“I don’t mind either way.” Yan ZhuGui’s smile gave off a sinister feeling. Xu Chen was silent for two seconds, then went around him and got into the passenger seat.
Neither of them spoke in the car.
Xu Chen: “If you can’t say it outside, why can you say it in the car?” With this flamboyant car, he was afraid that if he spoke carelessly, it would be carried away by the wind and broadcast like a loudspeaker.
“Of course, I can.” Yan ZhuGui said with a smile.
“Yan ZhuGui! Are you ever going to stop? Isn’t it fun to see me being played by you? What’s the point of messing with me? No matter how much you mess with me, no matter how hard you try, the Yan family’s offspring can’t come from my Xu family.”
“Actually, I don’t like children that much.” Yan ZhuGui turned his head to look at him. “But if having a child could tie you down and keep you by my side, I wouldn’t mind being the bad guy.”
Xu Chen was so angry that he gritted his teeth. It was impossible to reason with this rogue.
“Your Yan family will be ruined by you sooner or later.”
“I’m sorry, but that probably won’t be your wish.” The man said.
Xu Chen sneered, “You’ll die childless.”
“Whatever.” Yan ZhuGui leaned over and bit his collarbone.
Xu Chen’s face was cold as he pushed his shoulder away with force. “Don’t… don’t do it here.”
Damn car, what would happen if people saw it at the company entrance?
Yan ZhuGui smiled unhurriedly. “Don’t worry, my car has good soundproofing. People outside are guaranteed not to hear or see anything, so you can scream as loud as you want.”
“…” Damn it, Xu Chen thought he was brain-dead to get in this car.
He was so angry that his face turned red. He forcefully pulled open the car door, wanting to escape this oppressive space. The door didn’t budge. He turned his head and angrily questioned him.
“What do you mean by this?”
Yan ZhuGui acted as if nothing had happened, still maintaining the proper smile on his face, and said, “I’ve already booked a restaurant, let’s go eat something first. We’ve known each other for almost ten years, after all. Even if there were some grievances in the past, they’re not worth mentioning.”
Ten years?
That was really fast.
Xu Chen thought to himself, his thoughts drifting back to his student days, when the two had a fairly good relationship. Yan ZhuGui had many brothers around him, but of all of them, Xu Chen was the closest to him.
The two went in and out almost inseparable, and their relationship was the envy of everyone around them. As soon as they entered the first year of junior high school, Yan ZhuGui fell in love. It was an underage early love, and when one’s love was just beginning to bloom, it was easy to be attracted to a favorite omega.
His partner was a very cute omega, and because the two were close, Yan ZhuGui would invite him wherever he went. A beta was very safe for an Alpha, without the slightest scruple.
Whether it was a gathering with friends, playing billiards, or even a date with his boyfriend to watch a movie, Yan ZhuGui would call him along. Xu Chen felt that this was inappropriate and had politely refused many times, but Yan ZhuGui didn’t think so and insisted on bringing him along.
Later, Yan ZhuGui gradually began to distance himself from him.
Xu Chen didn’t notice anything unusual at first, but he vaguely felt that the relationship between the two seemed to be a little neglected. It wasn’t until a close friend inadvertently told him about the rumors that had been circulating in the school recently that he realized the seriousness of the matter.
It was said that Yan ZhuGui and the omega had quarreled, and the reason was because of him, Xu Chen, a superfluous existence. After falling in love, the omega’s academic performance also plummeted, and his family even took the matter to the school.
Xu Chen had seen the omega standing with Yan ZhuGui at school, holding hands intimately. He could keenly perceive the disgust and blame in the other person’s eyes when they looked at him.
Xu Chen understood better than anyone that his existence did bring a lot of rumors and unnecessary trouble to Yan ZhuGui. He secretly made up his mind to call Yan ZhuGui and politely suggest that the two of them should keep their distance in the future.
Although he was a beta, it was safe to keep him around.
But before he could make that call, Yan ZhuGui’s message came before him. It was a long string of messages, every sentence, every word, Xu Chen still remembered clearly to this day.
Yan ZhuGui said that the omega had been emotional recently, so they shouldn’t meet for the time being.
Xu Chen stared at the words “don’t meet,” his chest as if a huge stone was pressed down on it, a dull, uncomfortable emotion surged like a raging tide, almost suffocating him.
Because the omega was emotional, they shouldn’t meet.
His hands trembled violently uncontrollably, and his heart seemed to be tightly grasped by an invisible hand. It was from that moment that he woke up as if from a dream, and finally understood many cruel realities.
He, Xu Chen, was an existence destined to be abandoned from birth.
He had lived abroad since he was a child, and later returned to China with his father. Friends came and went, but there was never a friend he could truly talk to.
Until he met Yan ZhuGui, this sunny, handsome, and extremely popular boy, who could get along easily and happily with anyone. From the initial unfamiliarity between the two to the later brotherhood, they were almost inseparable like lovers. If he wasn’t a beta, then all this seemed very romantic.
He was more mature than most people and was particularly sensitive to matters of emotion. When he realized that he had developed different feelings for Yan ZhuGui, he was both afraid and helpless. He could only hide this feeling deep in his heart, afraid of being too obvious and being discovered.
Even in the moment when he inadvertently met the other person’s eyes, he couldn’t help but imagine that he would be better off as an omega.
The future heir of the Yan family could not marry a beta.
He could only hide in a place where the Alpha couldn’t see him, and complete his fantasies countless times in his heart. But later he gradually understood that this kind of Yan ZhuGui didn’t belong to him alone from the beginning.
What he got was just some scattered things that everyone could share. In the past, he had self-righteously added a beautiful filter to the other person’s kindness to him, misunderstanding and distorting another layer of meaning.
To Yan ZhuGui, all this was just ordinary friendship. A person with so many friends would naturally not notice the little different thoughts hidden carefully in Xu Chen’s heart.
From then on, for nearly a month, they completely broke contact and no longer took the initiative to send messages to each other.
Even if they met by chance at school, the two of them were like strangers. In order to avoid suspicion and to prevent those trivial gossip from continuing to spread, Yan ZhuGui deliberately avoided him.
They passed each other countless times, like strangers, their eyes met and then quickly moved away.
In addition to what happened later, anyone who saw the person they cared about the most lying on their good brother’s bed would become enemies.
After the two fell out, Xu Chen spent half a semester alone. The only two opportunities he had to talk to Yan ZhuGui were also because the other person was too emotional, which ultimately ended in an unhappy ending.
Fortunately, his father didn’t stay in the country for too long. On the day Xu RuZhou said he was going abroad, Xu Chen took the initiative to find Yan ZhuGui, wanting to have a good talk with him. He also wanted to tell him that he was leaving with his father.
He sent a message to Yan ZhuGui, but there was no reply.
He knew that Yan ZhuGui must have seen the message. He was betting, betting that Yan ZhuGui would come.
That night, he sat alone on a park bench, and large raindrops poured down on him, hitting him hard. Wet clothes, a cold night, he waited from day to night. After his little hope was shattered, he fell when he got up. He got up and went home in the pouring rain, his eyes full of disappointment.
Later, he thought that people like him who were abandoned before they were born were probably destined to live in the shadow of being abandoned for the rest of their lives.
In the days without Yan ZhuGui, as soon as he thought of anything related to the Alpha, he felt as if he was falling mercilessly into a deeper, more painful abyss.
He broke himself into pieces, but Yan ZhuGui knew nothing and still lived a carefree life with the omega.
A few years later, when he heard from a friend in China that Yan ZhuGui and the omega were engaged, Xu Chen locked himself in his room and refused to come out.
That night, he hid alone in the corner of the room, drinking bottle after bottle of wine, drinking a total of five bottles until he was completely drunk and fell to the ground without any reaction.
It was Xu RuZhou who noticed something was wrong and hurriedly broke down the door, finding him drunk on the ground. He anxiously drove him to the hospital. After walking through the gates of hell, Xu Chen felt that love was dispensable for someone like him, and he no longer needed it.
He hadn’t seen Yan ZhuGui for these years, and he thought he had become indestructible, until Shen ChiTai appeared.
The first time he saw Shen ChiTai, it was as if a light had shone into the dark corner of his heart. For the first time, he clearly realized that he could completely banish Yan ZhuGui’s face from his mind in front of this person.
Shen ChiTai gave him a unique feeling. He was gentle and intellectual, with both the knowledge and reason of a woman and the perseverance of a man.
These two qualities merged perfectly in him, forming a cordial atmosphere that emanated from the inside out. It was as if there was an invisible force that could wash away his inner restlessness and anxiety, making him unconsciously attracted, his gaze always falling involuntarily on the omega.
Only when he was with Shen ChiTai could his heart truly calm down and be single-minded. He couldn’t even explain his feelings for Shen ChiTai, he just felt that he could feel at ease being with this person.
He wouldn’t regret being with Shen ChiTai.
The moment his thoughts returned, the whistling wind messed up the hair around his ears.
Yan ZhuGui took him to a restaurant. Xu Chen ate quietly throughout the entire meal, his face as if filled with the words “I don’t want to talk,” not giving Yan ZhuGui the slightest chance to talk.
Yan ZhuGui looked at him, a complex look flashing in his eyes, and asked softly, “How have you been these past few years?”
Xu Chen didn’t seem to hear him, without the slightest reaction, still focusing on eating.
Yan ZhuGui smiled helplessly and said, “I apologize for what happened back then.”
Xu Chen, who was swallowing food, froze instantly upon hearing this, and stopped his movements.
He slowly put down the knife and fork in his hand, picked up a napkin, and slowly wiped his mouth. The red wine on the table was still quietly placed there, never touched.
Xu Chen raised his head, looked at Yan ZhuGui, and said lightly, “I’m full, you can eat slowly.”
After saying that, he was about to get up and leave. Yan ZhuGui saw this and hurriedly stood up behind him, his eyes following the Beta’s back closely. “Although so many years have passed, we need to make things clear, or do you think those things don’t matter anymore?”
Xu Chen stopped, took a deep breath, and tried to calm himself down. He turned around and looked at Yan ZhuGui coldly. “Who cares about the past anymore? Do you think I’m someone who cares? Or are you?”
Yan ZhuGui frowned, his eyes revealing a serious look. “What if I said I care?”
Xu Chen’s mouth revealed a mocking smile, “It has nothing to do with me. If you called me here just to eat, I’ve eaten the food, so I’ll leave first.”
Yan ZhuGui raised the wine on the table and handed it to him, “It’s been a long time since we drank together, let’s have a drink.”
Xu Chen lowered his eyes, and after a few seconds, he reached out and took it.
Yan ZhuGui smiled and watched him take a sip. He casually placed the glass on the table next to him, turned his head, and was about to leave, taking the initiative to say, “Let me take you back.”
“No need, I’ve already called someone to pick me up.” Xu Chen refused coldly. He had just taken two steps when he suddenly felt a burst of dizziness in his head.
He raised his hand and rubbed his drowsy temples, trying to clear his head, but in the end, he couldn’t help it, and his vision blurred. Yan ZhuGui quickly stepped forward and put his arm around him.
Xu Chen was shocked. He leaned against him weakly, angrily questioning, “You… you put drugs in the wine again?”
Yan ZhuGui gently stroked his face and said softly, “I just want to find a place to chat with you quietly.”
“You… damn it…” Xu Chen felt his eyelids getting heavier and heavier, and his legs were gradually losing strength. His consciousness gradually blurred, and finally, he completely fainted in Yan ZhuGui’s arms.
