Chapter 13

Even though Shang Jue had promised he wouldn’t mess around, people always say a dog can’t help but eat shit, and Shen ChiTai remained anxious. Shang Jue, uncharacteristically, was being honest for once and wasn’t making him do anything difficult.

Shen ChiTai was actually a little unaccustomed to it.

He never expected that the neurotic and abnormally behaving person would be himself from beginning to end. From the moment he entered the bathroom, all sorts of ridiculous assumptions and embarrassing scenes floated around in his head, clinging to him like ghosts, neverending.

He didn’t believe in such things before, but now he desperately wanted to attribute this version of himself to being haunted.

Vaguely, he seemed to fear Shang Jue doing something inappropriate to him, while at the same time, another subtle, barely noticeable expectation welled up in his heart, as if he was constantly hoping that the other would do something to him.

After quickly scrubbing Shang Jue’s back, he couldn’t take it anymore. He dropped the words “I’m going out first” and fled, opening the bathroom door and running away.

Shang Jue simply stood there, watching the omega run away like a startled little rabbit, a meaningful smile playing on his lips.

Feeling guilty, Shen ChiTai ran back to his own room, closed the door, and made sure it was locked tight before walking to the bed and sitting down, a blank look in his eyes. He pondered alone for a long time, but the omega didn’t get the result he wanted. He covered his head like a madman, agitated, and fell back onto the bed.

He’d suspected he was sick before, and now he was even more certain of that idea. If not sick, how could he have developed such filthy, unmentionable little thoughts about his own brother?

He tossed and turned on the bed countless times until he was so tired he could barely keep his eyes open, finally managing to fall asleep.

When Shen ChiTai got up the next day and went downstairs, Shang Jue was eating breakfast.

    Shang Lü was also there.

The omega asked Shang Jue what his schedule was for the day. The alpha said he was going to the company. He nodded slowly, turning his head to look at Shang Lü next to him, who didn’t notice anything amiss, and didn’t ask any more questions.

He ate a little something and went to the cat cafe.

Maybe the company was busy, and Shang Jue was uncharacteristically quiet, not sending him a single message all day.

When the omega locked up the shop in the afternoon and arrived home, the house was still closed and quiet, not like anyone had been home. Even on the busiest days, Shang Jue should have been back by this time.

Besides, he was home late today. He looked at the empty living room, thinking that the alpha might have been held up by something at the company, and didn’t think too much about it.

He put the milk he bought in the refrigerator, feeling weak and a little sleepy, and lay down on the sofa, falling asleep. In a daze, he heard the sound of a lock clicking open, followed by the sound of running water from the bathroom.

His eyes were still blurry until the alpha walked out after taking a cold shower, standing by the sofa. Shen ChiTai slowly opened his eyes, the face in front of him gradually magnifying infinitely in his pupils. The omega was so nervous that he instinctively wanted to close his eyes.

Shang Jue pursed his lips, bending down.

    The next second.

“Ah Jue, what are you doing?”

This guy was actually hugging him!!

“Bro, go back to your room and sleep. I want to sit on the sofa.”

    “…”

“I’m not sleepy anymore. Hurry up and put me down.” Shen ChiTai patted his arm, signaling the alpha to put him down quickly.

The alpha took two steps and saw that he was insistent, and being unable to force him, he put him down.

Shen ChiTai’s feet touched the ground and he stood firm, looking up at him. He originally wanted to ask him about work and such, but after the words rolled around in his mouth for a long time, what came out was a dry, “Why are you back so late today?”

“A bunch of unfinished crap, and the rest was handed over to Dad. Nothing for me. I mainly wanted to see you, Bro, so I rushed back.”

Shen ChiTai’s heartbeat sped up uncontrollably.

Why did he always say such embarrassing and awkward things to him?

“You don’t have to do this for me, I… I accidentally fell asleep on the sofa just now.” He was a little incoherent, lowering his long eyelashes, his gaze never directly meeting the alpha’s, “You wanted to sit on the sofa, I’ll go change my clothes and come down to cook. Is there anything special you want to eat tonight? I passed by the càishì today and bought your favorite…”

The alpha narrowed his eyes, looking at his omega’s incessant little mouth, and suddenly stepped forward.

Shen ChiTai’s vision went dark, and in the next instant, his lips suddenly felt hot.

The omega’s pupils trembled slightly, feeling the other’s increasingly excessive movements. The hands he had braced on the boy’s shoulders gripped the other’s clothes tightly, without resistance, and this lack of pushing away was seen as consent by the alpha.

Shang Jue let go of him and buried his face in the omega’s shoulder, chuckling for a few moments. Only then did Shen ChiTai snap out of his daze, tilting his head awkwardly to avoid meeting his gaze.

“Why didn’t you push me away, Bro?”

The omega’s ears burned, his eyes unnatural. “You were so sudden, I didn’t even react.”

The alpha meaningfully narrowed his long, narrow eyes, gently and meticulously stroking his face, chuckling softly, not calling him out on it. “I just didn’t expect that you’d been with him for so long, Bro, and your kissing skills are still so bad. You still have to practice, Bro.”

Shen ChiTai’s eyes changed imperceptibly, pushing away his wandering hand. “Stop messing around. The sofa is yours. I’m going to change my clothes.”

Shang Jue lazily crossed his arms and followed him, his narrow eyes scanning over the omega’s nape where the yìzhì jì patch was visible. His eyes darkened slightly and he smiled, “Why don’t I go upstairs and help you change your clothes, Bro?”

Shen ChiTai suddenly stopped, his body lurching forward slightly. He turned his head, glanced at him with a profound look, and threw out, “Stay here obediently. Dare to mess around again, and you’ll get extra rations tonight.”

“There are extra rations? Then I want to eat chicken stew with mushrooms!”

“…” Shen ChiTai didn’t give him a good look, daydreaming. “There’s no chicken stew with mushrooms, but I have bamboo shoots with sliced pork. Enough for you to eat.” After he finished speaking, he turned and went upstairs, not continuing the conversation with him.

“Bro, you’re so heartless!” Shang Jue cried out behind him in a drawn-out voice. “Bro doesn’t even feel sorry for people.”

Knowing he was faking it, Shen ChiTai steeled himself and ignored him, entering the room and slamming the door shut with a “bang,” completely isolating the overly ardent gaze that had been lingering on him for so long.

He leaned quietly against the door, reaching out to gently press against his pounding chest, unable to calm down for a long time, the incredulity in his eyes gradually being covered by a strange but also delightful emotion.

When he went downstairs, Shang Jue was playing a game. Shen ChiTai looked at the alpha on the sofa twice, then turned and went into the kitchen, tying on an apron and getting busy.

Shang Lü came home late, and the family was sitting around the table eating dinner, there was a certain indescribable harmony in the air. Since their mother passed away, the man has been single and has not remarried.

Shen ChiTai later stood in the other person’s perspective and thought about it. Men may also be tired. During the decade, two wives died one after another, and such things would be a great blow to the spirit of anyone.

    Shang Jue’s phone rang.

Seeing him pick up the phone but not answering it, Shen ChiTai suddenly thought of something, lowered his head and continued to eat his own meal, but felt a little uncomfortable in his heart.

“I’m going to take a call.” The alpha said this to the other two.

Shen ChiTai nodded instinctively, half-raising his head to see him stand up and walk to the side. Shang Jue deliberately lowered his voice, but from the man’s few words, he could probably guess what was going on.

A date between young lovers, very normal.

Speaking of dating, he and Xu Chen had been together for so long, but it seemed that they had never had a formal, grand date. One is that I have always been accustomed to being lazy and never thought about this aspect, and the other is that Xu Chen did not mention it, so this matter has no end.

Seeing each other is already a great joy for him, a boring person with no romantic cells. Waiting expectantly, rushing to the person you want to see, and the hearts of two people are infinitely close. Is there anything more romantic than meeting?

He looked up several times in the direction of the alpha’s back as he answered the phone.

Shang Jue had grown up and couldn’t stick to him like he did when he was a child forever. This was originally what he wanted to see, but now he just felt bad watching him be nice to someone else.

Shang Jue will eventually start a family and he will have his most beloved partner and the person he wants to protect the most, and there will be a child with bonds between them. Shang Jue, who has become a father, can no longer stick to himself alone as he does now.

They will inevitably become estranged, and the alpha will gradually alienate him. Thinking of this, he felt even more uncomfortable, and just taking another look at Shang Jue, the food in his mouth suddenly lost its flavor.

Shang Jue took the call for two minutes, came back and sat down to continue eating, and was very quiet throughout the whole process. Except for Shang Lü who would talk to the two of them from time to time, most of the time it was very quiet.

Shen ChiTai finished answering the man’s words one sentence after another, and quietly lowered his head to eat the rice in his bowl.

Shang Jue looked up at his direction several times, but the omega was absent-minded and didn’t seem to notice.

After dinner, Shang Lü went back to his study, saying that there was still some work left that he hadn’t had time to deal with. Shen ChiTai also realized that his condition was a bit off, so he washed the dishes and went straight back to his room.

He admitted that he was running away. He hadn’t done anything wrong, but he felt like there was a ghost in his heart.

Shang Jue naturally noticed that he was avoiding him. Since the omega wanted to avoid him, why should he shamelessly go up to him at this point and cause discomfort to both of them.

The alpha sat alone in the living room until ten thirty before going upstairs.

Shen ChiTai, who had already turned off the lights, turned over slightly and lay on his side, facing the wall. Next door, it was almost ten thirty before the sound of closing the door was heard.

The screen of the mobile phone placed on the bed cabinet lit up in the dark. He watched the mobile phone that went dark again, not knowing how long it had been, and pulled the quilt over his head in annoyance without looking at who sent the message.
