Reunion and Goodbye

    Reunion and Goodbye

“Why are you reading but not replying?”

Having heard it so many times, Lin Qichi believed he had become desensitized to these auditory hallucinations.

But the voice by his ear was so familiar, as if the person was really by his side. By his side? Could he really be here?

The bottom of the well was completely dry, but due to the humidity, the surrounding area was covered with a thick layer of moss. It seemed that jumping straight down shouldn’t be a problem.

Lin Qichi took a few steps back, estimating the diameter of the well opening. Generally, wells were dug straight up and down, with the inner wall and the well opening being about the same size. Even if the inside was covered with moss, no one should have randomly thrown things inside that would cause the inner wall to block him, right?

Lin Qichi recalled that in the plot line, the female protagonist accidentally fell in and discovered a tomb chamber inside, so jumping straight down should be fine.

After preparing himself mentally, Lin Qichi first took out his phone and turned on the constant recording function. Supporting himself on the edge of the well with one hand, he jumped straight in.

    “Hubby’s here.”

The auditory hallucinations in his ear changed again. Lin Qichi tried to adjust his body shape in mid-air, drawing the miniature dagger from his sleeve and forcefully stabbing it into the well wall. Although it couldn’t stop the downward trend, it did add friction, slowing down the speed of his descent.

Lin Qichi turned on the flashlight he had prepared long ago. Because it was a tomb chamber, he had even secretly prepared black donkey hooves, a Luoyang shovel, candles, and old mountain sandalwood incense.

Although the speed was a bit slower, he was still falling quickly. Lin Qichi recorded everything he couldn’t see with his naked eye using his phone.

The dagger’s ability to slow down the speed was limited, and Lin Qichi quickly landed.

The tomb chamber and the bottom of the well were originally separated by a wall, but it should have been due to an earthquake that the separating wall had collapsed.

Lin Qichi followed the cracked wall to the tomb passage. Fortunately, he had brought a high-powered flashlight. When the light shone out, the entire tomb passage was like welcoming a long-lost day.

The auditory hallucinations that had been harassing him non-stop also disappeared. Lin Qichi lit the sandalwood incense in front of the tomb chamber door and said, “Ancient tomb predecessors, rest in peace. Opening the coffin tonight is not my wish. I have no malice, only for livelihood. I will not harm the spirits, nor will I incur heavenly condemnation.” Only to… find a playful and spoiled wife.

As Lin Qichi thought about it, he laughed to himself first. The sandalwood incense burned out, and the surrounding old and decaying air was quickly consumed, with a large amount of fresh air from outside the well rushing in.

Lin Qichi pushed open the long-sealed main tomb chamber door, bringing the fresh air with him into the tomb.

“Hubby?” From the coffin deep in the tomb chamber, a confused voice suddenly came.

“Yeah.” Lin Qichi answered calmly, following the sound to find it, which saved him the trouble of identifying what was a real or fake coffin.

As he approached the coffin, Lin Qichi remembered that there was a lighting ceremony. He had finally come to rob a tomb once, and although it was his little fish’s, the ceremony couldn’t be missed.

Lin Qichi found the southeast corner and lit a candle. The candle was extinguished instantly, indicating that… the air in the tomb was poisonous, but how could that be?

After a moment, the candle reignited, its faint green flame blatantly telling the intruder: This tomb is not normal.

Lin Qichi quickly rubbed out the flame, extinguished the ghost fire, and relit another candle.

The same thing happened. Lin Qichi looked in the direction of the tomb door, which was wide open, and outside was the bottom of the well, with the well opening above connected to the fresh air outside.

“Looks like I can only use that move?”

Lin Qichi sighed helplessly and took out a windproof lighter. Since there were no combustibles, he burned the half-pack of napkins left over from breakfast.

At first, the paper towels burned very slowly, telling of the strangeness of the surrounding air bit by bit. Lin Qichi refused to believe it and burned another head, the flames burning vigorously, and the surrounding air was quickly replaced.

More fresh air poured into the room. Lin Qichi lit another candle, finally managing to burn it successfully.

Lin Qichi proudly raised his eyebrows at the coffin and said, “So you just wanted me to kowtow to you three times?”

From the coffin came Qi Feiyu’s helpless voice: “Isn’t even a husband and wife bow allowed?”

“Come out and bow with me,” Lin Qichi provoked. This kid Qi Feiyu had already arrived, but he kept pretending to be a ghost to scare him. It was simply unbearable.

“I’m right by your side.” In the mature male voice, was a familiar grievance.

Lin Qichi walked to the coffin, preparing to open it and drag the person out for a beating.

As if sensing his intention, Qi Feiyu’s voice was no longer from the coffin, but directly from Lin Qichi’s ear, “Hubby, I was wrong, forgive me.”

“Now you know to beg for mercy? It’s too late.” Lin Qichi pulled out the treasure sword on the coffin lid and used it as a crowbar, starting to violently dismantle the coffin.

“Hubby, you’re too violent.” The complaining voice was clearly by his ear. Lin Qichi firmly lifted one side of the coffin little by little, but it quickly lowered again.

    “Why is it so difficult?”

“Ah, this, this coffin is also part of my body, so it seems to be more resistant to damage.” Qi Feiyu’s voice returned to the coffin, with undisguised excitement, “Hubby, quickly hug me out, I really miss you so much.”

“You turned into a coffin?” Lin Qichi’s viewpoint was very strange.

The air was silent for a long time before a fragile explanation came from the coffin, “I didn’t, but also…”

“Shut up.” Knowing Qi Feiyu well, Lin Qichi didn’t want to hear anything he might say next.

“Okay.” Qi Feiyu answered aggrievedly, but this familiar feeling brought more joy and excitement.

“Don’t get excited, try to relax a bit. I don’t want to deal with anything other than a human-ghost love; I don’t want to get involved in something else.” Lin Qichi had concerns and didn’t dare to hurt Qi Feiyu, so he only dared to use skillful force to pry open the coffin, probing little by little along the edge.

“I’m trying, but it’s so difficult,” Qi Feiyu complained.

Annoyed by the probing, Lin Qichi wanted to pry it open directly in one go. He forcefully held the sword hilt with one hand, and directly held the coffin lid with the other hand.

    “Slow down, you’ll get hurt.”

    “Stop talking nonsense.”

The veins on Lin Qichi’s hand bulged, and he couldn’t take back the force. The coffin lid was pried up little by little, and the vibration suddenly coming from the ground was very familiar to Lin Qichi. In the last world, he used the power beyond the host object to avoid the frequency of the explosion.

Lin Qichi thought: So that’s how it is? Cannot OOC? Is that the term?

The force in his hand didn’t weaken at all. A jade cufflink came off from the splitting cuff, and the black-gold coffin was lifted and moved to the side little by little.

Lin Qichi released the force in his hand and rotated his wrist. The ground finally stopped vibrating, and the black longsword fell into the gap between the outer and inner coffins.

“You didn’t need to…” go this far.

    “What?”

Logically speaking, with the outer coffin gone, the voice should be clearer. However, Qi Feiyu’s words sounded like they were separated by many walls. Not only was it difficult to hear clearly, but there was also… a sudden strong sense of distance.

“Little Fish.” Lin Qichi looked blankly at the bottom of the coffin, and the candle in the southeast corner went out.

Lin Qichi was worried that after he opened the coffin, the convection of air would damage the bones inside. The plot line also didn’t mention how the female lead handled it after finding the coffin; it only said that she found the opportunity to awaken the villain inside.

“Little Fish, did you leave?” Lin Qichi asked belatedly, unexpectedly receiving no answer.

Lin Qichi searched the tomb chamber for a lap, but couldn’t find the so-called opportunity. In the end, his gaze returned to the coffin.

    “Is this the only way?”

Without the protection of the outer coffin, the dark green coffin was nakedly exposed to the air. Unlike the black-gold coffin, which was more dazzling in comparison, the inner coffin appeared monotonous and fragile.

Lin Qichi pulled out a stack of talisman papers from his waist and scattered them all over the coffin, neatly arranged in a row.

Lin Qichi shone the light of the flashlight into the gap between the outer and inner coffins, first to find the sword.

A sword placed alone on his coffin should be very important, and it was quite easy to use.

The black longsword, illuminated by the flashlight, became increasingly dazzling. He didn’t know what it was made of, but it seemed to absorb the surrounding yin energy.

The thick layer of yin energy floating on the coffin when it was first opened had all run to the sword, being absorbed little by little.

    “A weapon of great misfortune?”

Lin Qichi held some protective talismans in his hand, using them as padding to carefully take out the longsword. The sword tip also had a circular object attached.

Lin Qichi held the sword in one hand and picked up the ring-shaped object with the other, placing it on the coffin lid. The ring-shaped object had been stained by the dirt between the coffins, making it impossible to see its original appearance.

Lin Qichi took out a golden silk bag and put the ring-shaped object away. Just as he was putting it away, the row of talisman papers in the air suddenly exploded all at once.

    Exploding talismans cracked, imminent danger.

Lin Qichi subconsciously raised his sword to block, his aura suddenly shifting to an inviolable presence, but he abandoned the offensive and turned to retreat.

He had only come here to see Qi Feiyu. Since the person was already gone, there was no need to stay.

The sword tip dragged along the ground, drawing a long white mark. The sound of the sword tip scratching the ground echoed in the underground space.

Although Lin Qichi was posing in a retreating stance, slowly walking towards the tomb chamber door, all the muscles in his body were tense, ready to fight at any moment.

The enemy was in the light and he was in the dark. Even if Lin Qichi was confident in his swordsmanship and talismans, he needed to be more vigilant. This body was less than one ten-thousandth of his former self.

There were also the restrictions of the world rules, which made him feel constrained. A real fight wouldn’t be enjoyable.

By the time Lin Qichi came out of the well, it was already dark.

The well wall was too slippery, and it wasn’t easy to use talismans to fly directly up, so he ended up calling Wen Ren Yan for help.

“Yi-ge, what were you doing in there?” Wen Ren Yan thought Lin Qichi had been ambushed and was about to report it to the Wen Ren family and call for reinforcements.

“Cooling off,” Lin Qichi said, extinguishing all of Wen Ren Yan’s heroic ambitions, and he listlessly reeled in the rope that had fallen into the well.

“How’s One Chi Alley?” Lin Qichi didn’t expect that he would only come out so late, and missed the opportunity to enter One Chi Alley at dusk.

“Wen Ren Mu said One Chi Alley suddenly opened to everyone, and everyone else went in. I had Wen Ren Mu stop Shu-ge outside to watch,” Wen Ren Yan glanced at Lin Qichi’s face and added in a low voice, “I just don’t know if he can stop him.”

“Such is fate, you don’t need to care too much.” Lin Qichi sighed softly. Wen Ren Shu, others definitely couldn’t stop him. He should go over and take a look as soon as possible.

    “Yes.”

When Lin Qichi and Wen Ren Yan arrived at One Chi Alley with the sword he had picked up halfway, there were almost no people left outside the alley, but they all looked at the alley with terrified expressions, motionless.

“Was it like this when you left?” Lin Qichi asked.

    “Yi-ge…”

However, judging from Wen Ren Yan’s surprised expression, he knew the answer. After telling Wen Ren Yan not to go in no matter what, he walked into the alley alone.

Lin Qichi, dressed in a black robe, was still spotless after the turmoil at the bottom of the well. Walking on the side of the alley, holding the sword, he sideways entered the alley filled with strong yin energy.

The alley was full of mist formations. To pass through, one had to break those formations one by one.

Lin Qichi held the sword in one hand and talisman paper in the other. The sound of exploding talismans rang out one after another, spreading throughout the alley.

    “Wen Ren Shu.”

Lin Qichi threw out a tracking talisman, but before the talisman paper could fly out, it exploded in the air.

The yin energy in the alley became even thicker. If Wen Ren Shu stayed here for a long time, it could damage the foundation of his body.

Lin Qichi threw out decryption talismans one after another. The mist formations were equal to falsehood in his eyes, only the increasingly dense yin energy was truly chilling.

“Little Fish, where are you?” Lin Qichi suddenly said in a low voice.

Wen Ren Shu was important, but Qi Feiyu had been with him for so long after all, so he would inevitably be biased.

“Old brother, the yin energy in One Chi Alley is heavy. The yin energy here will bewitch people. Don’t go any further. We’re breaking his formation eye inside. Don’t come in.”

Wen Ren Shu seemed to finally hear Lin Qichi’s voice, and shouted loudly towards the entrance of the alley with difficulty.

Lin Qichi realized that something was wrong, held the sword backwards behind him, and quickened his pace.

If Wen Ren Shu encountered something, he would definitely be the first to ask him for help, and he would never push him out like that.

Qi Feiyu’s sudden departure, Wen Ren Shu’s abnormal behavior.

No matter which it was, he had to go in and take a look. Perhaps all the truth was there.

For a long time, the sky above One Chi Alley was cloudy, and a strong wind suddenly blew at the deserted well, a sign that the world was about to be in chaos.

Wen Ren Yan was counting the equipment on his body outside the alley, ready to fight at any time. The yin energy in One Chi Alley was gathering fiercely. The yin energy contained an extremely strong ability to make people hallucinate, and it must not be allowed to spread to the outside world.

The main family had already been contacted when Wen Ren Yi entered One Chi Alley, and those Heavenly Masters who were possessed had also been entrusted to En Sihan to arrange in their residence.

Although it was sorry to involve ordinary people, at this point, there was no distinction. Just like Wen Ren Yi said, this was all fate.

If it is in your fate, it will come to you eventually, if it is not, there is no point forcing it.

Lin Qichi didn’t know the situation outside the alley. The light in the alley was too dark, and the yin energy was so thick that it couldn’t penetrate the light. He could only use the fire from burning talisman paper to see the surroundings.

    “The bride has arrived—”

A familiar voice suddenly came, and the surrounding yin energy scattered all at once, and the field of vision widened.
