Chapter Index

“Why aren’t you talking?” Diviak moved closer, his brownish-red eyes narrowed slightly. Yan Yunqing saw in his peripheral vision that his pupils had turned into vertical slits, a sign dragons displayed when anxious and wary.

Yan Yunqing cursed inwardly. He was the one pinned against the wall, yet who was being anxious here?

    “Hmm?”

Yan Yunqing could clearly feel the chest pressed against his back vibrating with this soft sound. Maybe it was his imagination, but Diviak’s breathing seemed to be quickening too.

    This guy…

Yan Yunqing frowned, ultimately unable to hold back. He activated [Unyielding Will], instantly starting a one hundred and twenty second invincibility buff that ignored all attacks. The action of Diviak grabbing the back of his neck and pressing him against the wall was automatically flagged as an attack. His figure became ethereal in the next second, Diviak’s hand losing its grip, causing him to lean forward.

Yan Yunqing seized the opportunity to squat down and sidestep. Before Diviak could react, he landed a solid punch on that handsome face that would make anyone’s heart flutter for a few seconds.

A dull thud echoed as Diviak’s face was violently turned to the side by the punch.

This didn’t cause him much damage; all members of the dragon race were physical monsters, born warriors from the moment they hatched. Adding the current level difference between Yan Yunqing and Diviak, the punch was essentially just a tickle.

Diviak touched his cheek, not even a red mark left behind. He looked at his palm, amazed at how this ant-like human had escaped his restraint.

    “You—”

Before Diviak could finish his sentence, Yan Yunqing aimed another punch at his eye socket. Since the skill was already activated, Yan Yunqing wasn’t going to let his anger dissipate without a few more punches.

What was with this situation out of nowhere? He was just normally sneaking back to his room, only to be questioned by this damned little dragon, with every word implying he had malicious intentions.

Damn it, could a level forty-something do anything to a level one hundred and fifty-something dragon? There were over a hundred levels of difference between them!

Yan Yunqing kept pounding away at Diviak’s face, regardless of whether it tickled or not, he needed to vent his anger first!

After his initial shock, Diviak quickly reacted, reaching out to counterattack, but once again, he grabbed at empty air when he touched the other person.

    Diviak: ?!

What was happening? He couldn’t touch the other person, but the other person could hit him repeatedly?

Diviak, who had just been acting like a tyrant, was now a little dumbfounded, only able to defend passively, unable to stop Yan Yunqing’s fists hammering at his face and head.

The damage wasn’t high, but the humiliation was extreme.

Diviak was completely bewildered by the pounding.

Yan Yunqing hammered for nearly a minute, finally slamming Diviak backward into the sofa, in a position similar to how Diviak had pinned him against the wall earlier. To suppress the other, Yan Yunqing used all the techniques he had learned for apprehending criminals, adding his full body weight on top.

The teleportation started charging the next second, and he activated the [Demon King Descent] talent skill.

    “Diviak!”

At this shout, Diviak’s entire body trembled. The pupils that had already narrowed became even more slit-like. His struggling movements abruptly ceased, obediently pinned to the sofa by Yan Yunqing.

With Yan Yunqing’s talent skill active, the unique aura of the Demon King descended, suffocating those nearby. And Diviak, directly facing this powerful aura, trembled.

Yan Yunqing could feel the person beneath him tense up, seemingly ready to spring up and attack at any moment. But he didn’t. Diviak remained in a restrained posture, without any change.

This familiar feeling, this mark seemingly etched into his soul, had been awakened.

Diviak opened his mouth, like a newborn dragon hatchling, unable to form a coherent sentence. He stuttered.

    “You… Your…”

Seeing that he wasn’t struggling, Yan Yunqing, in retaliation, reached out and grabbed the back of Diviak’s neck, squeezing as the other had done to him, and pressing him against the sofa.

“Diviak, who gave you the audacity to defy my orders?”

    “I… No, I’m, I’m sorry. It’s my fault.”

Hearing this long-lost tone, Diviak subconsciously apologized. “It was me, I didn’t recognize you. Please punish me.”

    Yan Yunqing:?

    Wait, was he this obedient?

Huh, didn’t he remember Diviak being very unrestrained?

Yan Yunqing was taken aback. In those few seconds of his hesitation, Diviak, not receiving the expected response, snapped out of his daze. He moved his body, which was pressed against the sofa, eager to look at the one who caused his soul to tremble – the supreme Eternal Lord.

Diviak couldn’t remember how long ago he had last received the master’s merciful gaze. He was like a rabid dog wearing a collar, although used to the feeling of being strangled, he had suddenly lost the master he had submitted to.

After a thousand years of searching and waiting, his soul, every drop of blood in his body, cried out in fear and insecurity from being abandoned.

He had enough of the endless silence, he couldn’t bear that this reunion, a thousand years late, was still silent and quiet.

He desperately needed a sound, some proof that he could feel the master’s presence.

Yan Yunqing felt the person under his hands stir, immediately snapping back to attention and suppressing the other again, sternly scolding, “Did I tell you to move?”

Diviak immediately quieted down, obediently letting Yan Yunqing hold him down. Because of this movement, his entire face was buried in the sofa, making his voice muffled and hard to hear.

“I… I want to see you.” Diviak said honestly, “I haven’t seen your face in over a thousand years. Please forgive my rudeness.”

    What strange thought was that?

Yan Yunqing glanced at the teleportation skill that was about to finish charging, and then at Diviak, who was still under him. The crisis seemed to be temporarily resolved? This Diviak didn’t seem like a subordinate who wanted to kill the king.

If he teleported out this time, it would take another half hour to return. Yan Yunqing was worried that Mandy Pell would notice something. Besides, he had just put the bracelet back on. With [Unyielding Will] active, he couldn’t use any of his own skills, so he couldn’t activate the disguise. If he couldn’t take off the bracelet, he would instantly teleport with it to outside of Freedom City.

If he left like this, Yan Yunqing wouldn’t be able to come back. The bracelet could be used to track him, and if he came and went, it wouldn’t take a genius for Mandy Pell’s people to figure out that he was the one who had caused the trouble earlier, after all, not many people could teleport instantly.

Then his mission would be a complete failure. Yan Yunqing didn’t want to give up these tasks for now, mainly because he hadn’t completed the enrollment test yet!

Yan Yunqing gritted his teeth and canceled the teleportation. The Diviak in front of him didn’t seem to want to attack him anymore. If it really came down to it, he still had a health-lock cheat. Enduring until the next [Unyielding Will]’s cooldown didn’t seem to be a problem? If he worked hard, he might be able to drag out another teleportation cooldown?

As his thoughts raced, Yan Yunqing unconsciously tightened his grip on Diviak’s hand, only to hear a muffled groan from the person buried in the sofa.

Yan Yunqing: … No way? Could it be that he was too forceful? Could this little bit of strength injure a dragon over level one hundred? Or were dragons over level one hundred the same as ordinary people, with their necks being vital spots that couldn’t be squeezed too hard?

Just as Yan Yunqing was about to loosen his grip, he heard Diviak’s indistinct voice: “… Please squeeze harder.”

    Yan Yunqing: …

    Yan Yunqing: ???

    Oh my god, another pervert?!

Startled, he immediately let go of Diviak’s neck and took a step back.

Diviak felt the force on his body disappear. The originally uneasy heart tightened again, as if he was about to lose something once more. The feeling enveloped his body, insecurity tearing at his soul. His pupils, already slit, became even more terrifying, while the area around his eyes began to turn red.

No, he absolutely could not allow himself to be abandoned again.

The dragon race’s powerful physique allowed him to quickly bounce up, even with his hands twisted and pressed against the sofa for a long time. He quickly turned his head and saw that the figure hadn’t disappeared again, slightly reducing the fear in his heart, but his heart still hadn’t settled.

Diviak’s eyes were fixed on Yan Yunqing’s direction, not blinking as if his master would disappear forever in front of him with just a blink.

He approached step by step. Yes, that was the feeling. Even with a changed face, he would never mistake this shiver coming from his soul, causing him to submit involuntarily, his master, the supreme Eternal Lord.

Diviak greedily stared at his master, as if he wanted to deeply imprint the person in front of him in his soul. Yan Yunqing had the illusion of being stared at by a beast, and goosebumps rose all over his body. Those golden vertical pupils were too inhuman. Being stared at like that made his scalp tingle.

Yan Yunqing resisted the urge to move. He had watched Animal World, and knew that prey targeted by beasts couldn’t run. Once they ran, it would instead arouse the beast’s hunting desire.

Damn it, did a large lizard count as a beast in Animal World? The teacher didn’t teach how to deal with a dragon’s stare!

Tsk, he had let go too early. He should have continued to suppress Diviak, dragging it out as long as possible!

[Unyielding Will]’s cooldown was long over, and his red and blue bars were being quickly burned away. On the surface, nothing seemed to be happening, but in reality, he was a glass doll that was [Heal Restricted] and would shatter with a single touch.

Yan Yunqing felt sorry for himself. Fortunately, there was still a health-lock cheat to keep his heart slightly at ease, so he wouldn’t start to panic.

Diviak finally approached his king. His gaze swept over every inch of Yan Yunqing’s face. Over a thousand years of unease and fear made him want to tear the person in front of him apart and devour him, perhaps only then could he be with his king forever.

Never again would he have to endure the pain of separation.

    It’s the king…

It’s the king, it really is the king, king…

King, king, master… Eternal Lord, king…

    I want… King…

    Don’t want to be abandoned… My king… Please don’t abandon me…

    King…

    He is his king.

Countless noises clamored in his mind. Under Yan Yunqing’s gaze, Diviak stopped a step away from him, slowly kneeling on one knee, lowering his head, and pressing it against the back of Yan Yunqing’s hand.

Offering the loyalty of the dragon race.
