    Chapter 53

Konniliya remained silent for a long time. Just when Yan Yunqing thought she wouldn’t answer, she spoke softly, “I’m not sure, but among the many princesses of Bato, the ones with better backgrounds are already married. Most of the marriageable princesses who are still unmarried are mediocre. Even if King Bato wanted to marry those princesses to Soyer, the Soyer family wouldn’t agree.”

“And among the younger princesses…only the Eleventh Princess, Alice, is the most outstanding.”

    Eleventh Princess Alice…

Yan Yunqing found the name somewhat familiar. After digging through his memories for a while, he remembered that Konniliya had mentioned this Eleventh Princess to him before.

It seemed she had outstanding magical talent and was currently studying at Sigrett Academy with the Tenth Prince?

Being able to enter that school certainly proved her talent.

“So King Bato wants to arrange a marriage between the Eleventh Princess and General Soyer?”

Yan Yunqing suddenly thought of something.

When he was gathering information, he overheard Lillian gossiping about how the current queen was actually the second queen. Before she married into the royal family, the previous queen, who had married King Bato before he ascended the throne, had died of illness only two months prior.

The current Augreir Queen took the throne and gave birth to the Second Prince, Philton, the most highly favored heir, in less than a year. About eleven years later, she gave birth to twins, Fei Wu and Fei Qi.

During that time, several less favored concubines gave birth to the Second, Third, and Fourth Princes, and everything was relatively peaceful. But after Fei Wu and Fei Qi were born, royal children would die for various reasons just a few days after birth.

As a result, the lecherous King Bato didn’t add a single new princess or prince to the Bato Royal Family for more than a decade.

Everyone rumored that the queen had killed those newborn princes and princesses. The Augreir Queen never admitted it, and King Bato was furious…as a result, his eldest son, the only son left by the previous queen, also died in the third Demon King tide riot.

Those in the know kept quiet about it, but there was a consensus that this talented and beautiful First Prince was also killed by the Augreir Queen.

Just because King Bato had lost his temper with her…

The key was that the matter was never resolved in the end. However, the Augreir Queen seemed to have made a compromise, and the children born into the royal family after that basically survived, but there weren’t many of them. It wasn’t until Fei Wu and Fei Qi came of age that the number of princes and princesses exploded.

Yan Yunqing felt enlightened after hearing this gossip.

What was this? A palace drama in a Western fantasy game? My ancestors never deceived me; emotions are indeed stumbling blocks on the road to success.

He just felt sorry for those girls who were either forced or willing to become King Bato’s consorts.

This queen was simply going crazy, killing one after another.

So, the question was, before Fei Wu and Fei Qi came of age, very few children in the royal family could be born and grow up. How old was this Eleventh Princess…?

And how old was General Soyer, who had already become the head of the Soyer family?

After Yan Yunqing asked this question, Konniliya’s face became even more unpleasant. She almost gritted her teeth as she replied, “That General Soyer, ha, can be considered a young talent. He’s only thirty-eight this year.”

Thirty-eight years old, that seemed okay? Considered young? After all, he had to guard the border, so he had to be at least a Great Swordsman. A level 80 or 90 swordsman at thirty-eight was definitely considered a genius in this world.

“The Eleventh Princess…” Konniliya said slowly, each word squeezed out from between her teeth, “Is, twelve, years, old, this, year!”

Yan Yunqing almost choked on his saliva.

“T-twelve years old?!” Yan Yunqing said in disbelief, “That old geezer wants to marry his twelve-year-old daughter to a thirty-eight-year-old uncle…he could be her father!”

Konniliya’s face was as dark as ink, looking like she wanted to dismember that old geezer into eight pieces.

Yan Yunqing tactically leaned back, feeling that if he spoke up to wake her up at this time, he would be implicated. He could only weakly say, “It doesn’t necessarily have to be the Eleventh Princess…didn’t you say that old geezer…King Bato summoned all his princesses? Maybe it’s another princess?”

Could this Eleventh Princess have something to do with Konniliya? Why was Konniliya so angry when she heard that the Eleventh Princess was going to be married to General Soyer?

Konniliya closed her eyes and barely suppressed the anger in her heart. “I know, I’m just…I just feel nauseous at the thought that that old thing would do such disgusting things.”

Yan Yunqing muttered silently: This doesn’t sound like nausea, it sounds like you’re going to kill someone, and a thousand cuts kind of kill.

After a while, Konniliya finally calmed down. She continued, “In short, the situation has changed. More people will come to this banquet, and the guards will increase accordingly. And General Soyer will be attending…that guy is very strong. If you want to kill Fei Wu, you must avoid his attention.”

    Yan Yunqing’s heart also sank.

“Also, with more guards on the scene, you might not be able to run away after killing someone. I suggest you prepare a few more escape routes.”

Konniliya glanced at the appearance of the little black cat, “The black cat’s state might help you avoid inspection for a while, but General Soyer is the only level 100 Great Swordsman in Bato Vita, and he’s been stationed on the border for years, killing countless monsters. His combat experience will only be more abundant. I’m afraid he’ll notice something wrong the first time he sees you.”

“Don’t underestimate these people. People who have grown up constantly bathing in the fires of war trust their intuition very much and won’t easily let you go.”

Konniliya noticed that Yan Yunqing was thinking, and her heart didn’t know what it was like. “If you don’t have absolute confidence that you can escape…I suggest you give up the plan to kill Fei Wu.”

“Our previous deal, just consider it void.”

Yan Yunqing couldn’t help but raise his head and look in Konniliya’s direction. He found that Konniliya avoided his gaze and looked into the distance. He only heard her whisper, “This is just an egg hitting a stone, a pointless sacrifice.”

Yan Yunqing paused, lowered his body to gather strength, and jumped directly into Konniliya’s arms with a push of his hind legs. He climbed up her arm directly onto her shoulder, and with Konniliya’s surprised expression, he touched her head with his tail, as if stroking her forehead.

“Knowing it’s an egg hitting a stone, that’s not called a pointless sacrifice,” Yan Yunqing said. “It’s called a fearless sacrifice. No, it should be called fearlessly moving forward.”

“Knowing that it’s impossible to do, that’s the bottom line that fate has given us to fight against.”

“Have you heard the story of the Demon King?” Yan Yunqing smiled. “The original Demon King was just a child who lost everything because of the war between the gods.”

“He lost everything, so he picked up a weapon and launched an attack against the gods high above when all humans and alien races knelt down and surrendered.”

“And finally ended the centuries-long war between the gods.”

    Konniliya was stunned, “You…”

She wanted to ask why he knew the story of the Demon King so clearly. These were not recorded in the handed down history books. The two great empires that later became the world’s overlords were tight-lipped about the Demon King, and the siren clan would never open the Demon King’s record to a mixed-race mermaid to view at will.

And a seemingly ignorant and weak little beastman could talk about it so eloquently. What was his identity…?

However, all the questions were swallowed by Konniliya. She repeated Yan Yunqing’s words, “He lost everything, so he picked up a weapon?”

“If I don’t do some things, who else will do them?” Yan Yunqing recalled the motivational speeches he had heard before, and gave Konniliya a hard sell. “Rather than retreating, I would rather be the pioneer, fearlessly moving forward.”

“And we only have this one chance, don’t we?” Yan Yunqing said, “Only this time will the two guards next to Fei Wu leave briefly, and during the banquet, General Soyer can’t possibly focus on Fei Wu all the time.”

Or rather, General Soyer’s focus couldn’t possibly be on Fei Wu. Knowing that this banquet was also his blind date, he might be more willing to take a few more glances at the Eleventh Princess, after all, she might be his future wife.

However, Yan Yunqing didn’t dare say this. From his observation, Konniliya cared a lot about the Eleventh Princess. He was afraid that Konniliya would beat him to death first if he said it.

“The possibility of my success is still very high–as for how to escape after succeeding, you don’t have to worry about that,” Yan Yunqing said confidently. “I have my own way.”

Before getting the portable anchor, Yan Yunqing might have to think again about whether he could escape from the palace unscathed, but now–Yan Yunqing could only say that he had no problem killing a hundred Fei Wus. As long as he was given a minute to cast, he could just TP away. Was he still afraid of not being able to escape?

Appearing five kilometers away in an instant, what could be a better escape method than this?

Konniliya stared at the confident face of the little black cat for a while, and finally turned her head away indifferently and snorted, “Whatever, anyway, it’s not me who doesn’t want life.”

Yan Yunqing tapped the top of Konniliya’s head with his tail again, “Tsundere went out of style a long time ago, no being tsundere allowed!”

“What’s with that…” Konniliya never understood the strange things Yan Yunqing said, what tsundere was, what knowing that it can’t be done and doing it.

“Anyway…you improvise then, I can’t help you,” Konniliya said with a cold face. “As for what you promised me before, to attract everyone’s attention for fifteen minutes…tsk, with Soyer there, I guess you can’t even do it for five minutes.”

“Forget it, do your best. It’s okay if you can’t do it. I have a backup plan.”

Yan Yunqing: “Things will eventually work out, I will try my best to complete what I promised you.”

After speaking, Konniliya’s shoulder became lighter, Yan Yunqing jumped down from her shoulder, jumped onto a high step a few times, and winked at Konniliya, “Now I’m going back to prepare for our plan. Wish me luck, dear Mermaid Miss.”

Konniliya: “…It’s your plan, not our plan.”

“Okay, okay, don’t mind so much!”

Yan Yunqing wagged his tail, “Since you don’t want to say it, then I’ll say it!”

    “Wish us all the best.”

    “–Accomplice Miss.”
