Chapter 34: Victim, Insectification
The North Star Academy’s research building was usually used by the medical departments. This was Yao’s first time here. Apart from the occasional unexpected situation during the opening physical fitness test, Yao hadn’t suffered any injuries.
Moreover, the difference in physical fitness between female bugs and male bugs was huge, and these medical facilities exclusively for female bugs could easily kill him.
There were no bug figures in the hall, only pure white spherical guiding robot bugs in hibernation.
“Hello, I’m looking for Daina? Do you know which room he’s in?”
The top of the white sphere opened, revealing protruding compound eyes. –Beep, it scanned and identified Yao’s student ID card.
“Identification successful. Please follow me, student.” The robot bug led the way.
The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant. The huge research institute seemed to have been emptied, without even a bug on duty.
Everything felt strange.
In the empty corridor, only the rustling sound of the robot bug’s wheels on the ground and Yao’s footsteps could be heard.
Yao’s pace slowed down. The robot bug stopped in front of a transparent glass door.
“Beep… Please go straight ahead…”
“Beep… Go straight…”
“Go straight…”
Seemingly wondering why Yao wasn’t moving, the robot bug could only repeat the instructions over and over.
Suddenly, white light burst from its compound eyes, and it went dark as if the power had been cut off, and it stalled.
Yao: …
If he still hadn’t realized something was wrong, then he would be an idiot. The little Male Bug turned around and ran.
“Woo–” The door behind him suddenly opened at some point, and a pair of strong hands directly attacked.
A soft towel with a strange fragrance covered his mouth and nose, and the little Male Bug almost instantly lost the ability to resist.
“Be careful, don’t hurt His Highness. Otherwise, we’ll all be in big trouble.”
The female bug was wearing a uniform pure white research suit. His companion behind him spoke with disapproval, putting the unconscious little Male Bug in a princess carry into the huge medical cabin in the center of the room.
“I know.” The female bug named Loeley, who took the lead, was very impatient with his companion’s words. Irritable as he was, his movements were much gentler.
“The Queen Mother has not given us the authority to force a pure-blood Highness. If His Highness suffers any accidents because of our plan, all the bugs in the Loeley project will be buried with him.”
“Enough! It’s already done, what’s the use of regretting it now?” Loeley himself was also very flustered, but his experiment must not be terminated here. It was all or nothing.
The reason Will and Chris were able to match successfully was purely because Will was severely traumatized physically and mentally at the time. His parent bug died unexpectedly, and he himself was kidnapped. Chris happened to appear as the savior, allowing Will to give up all defenses, and facilitating their mental power matching experiment.
If they could really break the restrictions of the bug gene lock and achieve replicability, then regardless of their birth level, all bugs would ignore the innate level gap, stimulate their promotion potential, and reproduce Chris’s unprecedented miracle.
The old Queen Bug had fallen for hundreds of years, and the so-called pure-blood families of the Federation were almost non-existent, each acting on its own. The average gene level of the entire bug race was declining at an alarming rate.
If this continued, they would not only be unable to expand their bug domain, but even their current territory would not be maintained, and they would eventually fall from the position of interstellar overlord.
“I won’t hurt His Highness. If it weren’t for that suddenly appearing female bug who occupied the position of His Highness’s Female Consort, the forced matching would have taken effect long ago. Daina actually disobeyed in secret and used the pheromones of other male bugs to fool us into handing over.”
Loeley’s research team has always represented the will of the Queen Mother, and when necessary, it can override the Federal Court and the Male Bug Protection Association.
However, even with the Queen Mother’s permission, they have not yet reached the point of being able to cover the sky with one hand. All female bugs have a default safety line in their hearts, which is that they cannot truly harm the Male Bug Highness.
Especially since Yao is a scarce pure-blood descendant, and the current federal government and the few remaining pure-blood families don’t have a good relationship.
If they really pushed Duke Will to the point of madness and allied with other pure-bloods such as Aikman, it would inevitably lead to a split within the bug race, and they couldn’t bear such a crime.
The first thing Will did when he came to Central Star was not to look for Yao, but to send a private warship to level their research base. Duke Will had long threatened that if anyone dared to touch a hair on His Highness, he would make all the bugs pay the price.
Let the Supreme Court sentence him if they had the ability. Will’s behavior of daring to directly overturn the table made it hard to say that Aikman wasn’t stirring up trouble behind the scenes.
That Judge, who enjoyed watching the fun, couldn’t wait for the situation to become bigger and bigger. The more Will hated the Federation, the more they could bind him to the same front and fight against a common enemy.
They hadn’t even had time to force His Highness yet. His Highness had voluntarily married? Why did Duke Will look so resentful and want to kill them?
Loeley didn’t dare to resist, or even to speak out. He could only grit his teeth and swallow the pain, secretly transferring the important information that had not yet been damaged.
If they had really done that kind of thing, it would have been excusable to be beaten by the Duke, but Daina, that bastard, had fooled them like fools. He had never touched His Highness.
The data they handed in was all fake!
The little assistant next to him couldn’t bear it and touched the cold medical cabin wall, muttering, “It’s okay, it’s okay, His Highness, just take a nap.”
Observing a Male Bug Highness at such close range, taking off Yao’s camouflage sticker, as a being favored by the Creator, what struck them was the magnificent appearance that shocked their bug hearts.
Loeley was already starting to regret getting on Chris’s pirate ship. No wonder Duke Will had been protecting His Highness and refusing to let him appear in public. It felt like a desecration to pair such a pure and lovely little angel Male Bug with any female bug.
Heaven punishes those who don’t act for themselves. Chris was also painstakingly working to get his illegitimate child to the top.
This was the real case of keeping the good things within the family. From Will to Yao, two generations of the most precious pure-blood male bugs were thoroughly used by him.
A lethal amount of aphrodisiac, the dark underground room was filled with the sticky pheromone scent that only appeared when bugs were courting, and the chilling gasps.
The smell might be disgusting to those of the same sex, but Chris remained unmoved, dragging Daina, who had already merged with the darkness, out of the bathroom.
“Ugh… Heh heh…”
“You have always been female parent’s proudest child.” In the darkness, Chris grabbed the neck of the female bug in heat and threw him to the ground, “Did you think your little thoughts could be hidden from female parent? Do you really have no desire for Yao at all?”
“Cowardly, incompetent, stupid!”
The female bug on the ground was unresponsive like a corpse.
“If… If you weren’t Amy’s child…” Remembering the deceased, Chris’s face became even more stern…
“Don’t have any psychological burden. There will naturally be bugs to bear the ‘notoriety’ for you.” Chris softened his attitude,
“Yao Yao is a kind-hearted child. Even if it’s just an accident, he will take responsibility for you…”
Chris’s cold eyes were tinged with madness: “Remember, Daina, you and Yao are both victims…”
“You don’t need female parent to teach you how to do it, right?”
“I… Cough cough…” Daina’s body was already on the verge of collapse, and the heat of estrus was burning away his few remaining reasons.
“Ugh… I… I understand, Father… Parent…”
The female bug’s voice was uncontrollably shaking. He curled himself up, trying to cover up the ugliness of his insectification.
Too embarrassing, too ugly. He didn’t want Yao to see him like this, it would scare Yao…
