Chapter Index

    “Young Male Master.”

Edwin’s weary face, after several days of continuous work, revealed a hint of joy. From a rational standpoint, Serra’s second transformation didn’t worry him because Serra had repeatedly proven his extraordinary nature. The Mother Goddess’s favored divine child wouldn’t stop at just one transformation after energy accumulation.

But reason and emotion often run counter to each other. Every minute and second that Serra was away from his side, Edwin felt anxious. He could focus his attention and try to occupy his time with work, but in reality, he was constantly thinking about Serra.

During the time Serra was in his cocoon, he didn’t dare stop for even a moment, and he didn’t rest at all. Even though he was an extremely powerful high-ranking military Female Chong, and his strength had returned to its peak, he was still not a machine. Days of worry and toil had left him looking fatigued.

The time Serra spent in his cocoon this time was also much longer than the hasty cocooning the first time. Back then, when facing the encirclement by the church, Serra only spent half a day forcibly breaking out of his cocoon, but this time he spent a full seven days.

Within the cocoon, there was no day or night; Serra was simply immersed in a mysterious state, experiencing the flowing energy around him. He seemed to be in a vast and boundless, yet silent and terrifying universe, with terrifying whispers coming from the depths of darkness.

The soul-piercing sense of desolation made Serra shudder, but there was also a sense of powerlessness and silence. Although he couldn’t understand the whispers of the universe, he suddenly understood where his power came from.

His power came from the universe. This should be a power that only high-dimensional beings—such as the powerful “gods”—could control. Such an extraordinary power placed in this dimension would inevitably be rejected by the world’s will.

And strangely, the male insectoids regarded this power as a gift from heaven. Even though their frail bodies couldn’t support them in driving this power, even though the decline of their species had already secretly foreshadowed their ending, they were still addicted to surpassing life, indulging in vulgar hedonism and power struggles.

The corruption of power and strength to the soul was a natural process, just as humans had repeatedly proven in thousands of years of civilization: placing a timid person in the position of a judge, and it wouldn’t be long before they would get used to wielding the butcher’s knife.

Perhaps only a soul that is pure and tenacious enough can repeatedly adhere to its original intention in different situations.

It was also in this cocooning that Serra realized that perhaps it wasn’t just Edwin who had a mission to save civilization.

From the moment Serra transmigrated to the insectoid race, from the moment he unilaterally fell in love with Edwin, from the moment he mastered and used the high-dimensional power belonging to the gods, his fate was also closely related to this universe. He also became a part of the power balance of this universe, and no longer just a “troublemaker.”

He heard the universe’s gift and expectations for him, and he understood that his body also carried the weight of life.

He knew he was on the right path.

Having walked alone in the darkest depths of the universe for too long, the dazzling lights made tears fall from Serra’s eyes—no matter if the mental energy he could master had risen to another level, as a male insectoid, he still maintained the fragile physical strength similar to carbon-based organisms.

The fully adult male insectoid couldn’t bear to restrain his longing to see Edwin again, and he spread his arms, which were much stronger than before, to hug the black-haired Female Chong’s somewhat stiff body. He used his slender fingers to pick up a strand of Edwin’s dry hair, interrupting Edwin’s attempt to talk about official business, and said with distress:

“Male parent, haven’t you rested for days? Even if you’ve returned to the military, you can’t live like this. You bear the fate of so many military Female Chongs, and you need to take care of yourself.”

Serra didn’t bother to put on clothes for himself and pulled Edwin towards the bed, as if he wouldn’t rest until Edwin was settled down. Edwin didn’t struggle, but pulled away Serra’s hand and draped a piece of clothing over Serra’s body, then suppressed his emotions and said softly:

“In the past few days, the church and the royal family have been blocking information on the Star Network. The church is also locating the base stations of the bracelet network. Fortunately, Clisen had several backup plans, so the bracelet network was spared. The church is now strictly prohibiting Female Chongs and Yaci in its jurisdiction from using bracelets. It is said that Heavenly Palace Star has also begun to block signals, but the correct frequency band has not yet been found. Many Yaci and Female Chongs in the church’s ruling planets have been implicated because of torture and investigations, and the situation on the network has also become complicated, with many Female Chongs and Yaci being threatened…”

“None of that is important.” Serra pulled the black-haired Female Chong onto the bed, dimming the lights in the room. The military base on the border star was not a bright palace; even the residence of a high-ranking military officer like a marshal was quite simple, with no daily smart or mainframe facilities for a male insectoid. But Serra was an ordinary human at heart. Rather than living in a high-tech environment every day, he was more adapted to these simple furnishings. His adaptability surprised Edwin.

There was also a subtle sense of guilt. In Edwin’s eyes, Serra was not only a pampered male insectoid son raised from childhood, a darling of the Mother Goddess, but also an extremely noble insectoid—he deserved to enjoy bright palaces and fine food and clothing. Edwin didn’t know who was more worthy of all the good things than Serra, especially after Serra had done all this for the insectoid race and for them.

But Serra didn’t think so. In an extremely simple environment that would enrage even the lowest male insectoid, Serra skillfully unfolded the blanket and wrapped Edwin in it. The broad chest and strong muscles that belonged entirely to an adult insectoid instantly surrounded Edwin, making the Female Chong’s heart suddenly beat wildly.

He looked up and once again looked into the sweet caramel-colored eyes of the male insectoid, searching for the cub he was familiar with. His gaze slid down the high brow bone of the male insectoid to his deep-set eye sockets, searching for traces of youthfulness on the handsome face of an adult male insectoid that looked as though it had been carved with a knife and axe. Even though his gaze eventually met the caramel-colored eyes of the male insectoid, he still couldn’t find many traces of the cub.

Edwin had actually been prepared for this for a long time. Even if he was stubborn, he couldn’t reverse time and put the tall and strong male insectoid, who was no weaker than a Female Chong, back into the body of a cub. The once soft and shallow eyes now looked incredibly deep, and the surging gentleness and support made Edwin feel his cheeks burning. His heart still beat for his cub, but he also felt guilty.

He knew that something had changed irreversibly. And he despised his own turmoil, but he couldn’t let his cub fall into this unethical and disgraceful situation.

He… publicly slandered Serra, and even if Serra didn’t blame him, he couldn’t forgive himself.

“…These things are clearly important,” Edwin was forced to curl up in the blanket, watching the male insectoid, draped in a blanket, curled up at the simple foot of the bed, keeping watch for him—a Female Chong who had tarnished and slandered Serra. He was so guilty that he couldn’t cope and didn’t dare to look into the deep eyes of the male insectoid again:

“For the sake of the current situation, for the sake of this revolution, you sacrificed your own life, and you also… you also lost your reputation.”

His voice trembled: “I shouldn’t have described you as incompetent, you are completely the opposite. Those Female Chongs and Yaci don’t know everything you have done for us, they will regard you as mediocre… this is not fair, this is all my fault.”

The Female Chong wanted to struggle out of the blanket, but Serra pressed his shoulder through the blanket, his voice with a hint of lightness:

“Hey, hey, male parent, don’t think like that.” The male insectoid pretended to be aggrieved: “On the contrary, wouldn’t I have become a big bad guy who forced the male parent.”

Serra was actually drumming in his heart. He knew that what he had done could definitely be described as coercion, he was just… afraid that Edwin was still afraid of him. He was somewhat probing, and he truly grinned only when he heard Edwin’s eager “no”:

“Then I am the male parent’s good insectoid cub, and I listen to the male parent the most.” The male insectoid joked, but when he saw the guilt that still hadn’t disappeared from Edwin’s face, he said seriously:

“Male parent, you are so busy, and you are still thinking about these messy things every day! What kind of relationship do we have? Even if I’m not your cub, just your friend, I would never mind anything you say. Male parent, remember, the person you least need to feel sorry for is me. In this society, I have taken full advantage of my gender, I have obtained far more power and voice than I deserve. From my position of being given privileges, I can never truly be discriminated against, mistreated, or suppressed by this deformed society.”

“In the society we are committed to overthrowing, a male insectoid can do anything reasonably, even legally. Not to mention that the words you used to describe me, while not 100% true, are definitely not slander—because I’m willing, male parent, I just like being your cub, as long as you still want me, isn’t this better than being the big monster you’re afraid of? After everything that happened, what I was most afraid of was…”

The male insectoid hesitated a bit, but still said it honestly: “What I was most afraid of was that you would be afraid of me and stay away from me. Later, I knew that you were too indulgent of me, so much so that you wouldn’t leave me, and then I was afraid that I couldn’t help but control you, and I knew that you actually didn’t have the ability to resist the control of the male insectoid who marked you. I was afraid that under this kind of control, I seemed to have you, but I also completely lost the qualification to be loved by you. You see, male parent, I’m afraid of a lot of things, but I could never mind you publicly admitting that I’m yours.”

A hint of blush appeared on the male insectoid’s face. Edwin looked at him, and his heart was thumping in his chest. He wanted to stop him—to persuade the male insectoid not to be so absurd—but his throat tightened, and he couldn’t say a single harsh word to Serra:

“…What we’re doing is unreasonable, Young Male Master.”

He only said vaguely in the end, and Serra wanted to refute him. He had too many reasons. In fact, there were many subjective elements between reasonable and unreasonable, weren’t there? There were also many dimensions and entry points for secularism and morality. In short, the revolution they were carrying out was also unreasonable in this society, and Serra absolutely didn’t admit that their relationship was unreasonable.

What about being immoral? It’s not like we’re really related by blood. Isn’t a relationship with a little bit of stimulation even better?

Eight hundred thoughts flashed through Serra’s dirty adult brain in a second, and the tail hook representing his characteristics quietly sprang out on his tailbone. But Serra lowered his head, looked at the weariness on Edwin’s face, and only said gently:

“Sleep, you’re too tired, male parent.”
