MLROCSHR Chapter 4
by VolareChapter 4: The Password Is His Birthday!
“He used to mock me for being a poor guy who didn’t deserve him; I’m just using money to humiliate him.”
“It’s just money, as if nobody else has it…”
Qi Luzhi’s desperate attempt to justify himself made him look like a flustered lion.
“Oh, using money to humiliate him? Why don’t you humiliate me? Forget several hundred million; give me ten million, and I’d be willing to sleep with you,” Li Yang said, looking utterly worthless.
Qi Luzhi rolled his eyes. “Get lost!”
Li Yang stood up and adjusted his collar. “I have a dinner party tonight, so I’ll leave first.”
“But I still want to remind you, don’t dwell on the past. Think it through,” Li Yang said, genuinely not wanting to see his good friend repeat past mistakes.
Although he’d never met his ex, Qi Luzhi was always in so much pain whenever he got drunk, showing how deeply the other person had hurt him.
“I know, hurry up and leave,” Qi Luzhi said impatiently, shooing him away.
Li Yang and Qi Luzhi had built Sheng Shao Group from the ground up, making them brothers who had gone through thick and thin together.
In the early days of the business, they had to attend countless dinner parties every day. Qi Luzhi was too honest and ended up with a stomach hemorrhage from drinking too much, scaring Li Yang into never letting him go again.
After that, all the social events fell on Li Yang. He was smooth, knew how to handle things, and could always get everyone at the table drunk while remaining unscathed himself.
After Li Yang left, Qi Luzhi packed up and went home from work as well.
He was too upset to work overtime.
Unlike the hustle and bustle of the day, the city at night was even more glamorous and dreamlike under the lights.
In a private room at a hotpot restaurant, Lian Xun was giving his employees a pep talk.
“Everyone who joined my small company must have dreams. I believe that in the near future, Xun Qi Technologies will become the most shining star in the gaming world.”
“Boss, we’ll work hard,” Ling Yu said, raising his glass, his eyes shining with fervor.
“Good, let’s work hard together.” Lian Xun clinked glasses with Ling Yu, thinking that he really was a simple kid fresh out of university.
However, he wasn’t just painting a pretty picture. He had been secretly preparing this game project for a long time, and it might actually become a rising star in the gaming world.
After dinner, everyone dispersed, and Lian Xun stayed behind to pay the bill.
“Sir, the total is 3587 yuan. How would you like to pay?”
Lian Xun took out his phone, intending to scan the code.
He pressed it several times, but there was no response. Seriously? His phone had to break down at this moment.
He should have known better than to let Ling Yu and the others leave first.
“Sorry, just a moment,” Lian Xun said, feeling a little embarrassed.
He searched all his pockets, but all he had was the Black Card Qi Luzhi had given him.
Lian Xun was conflicted. If he used this Black Card, their relationship would truly become a financial transaction.
“Sir?” The Waiter/Waitress urged, seeing that Lian Xun hadn’t done anything for a while.
“Swipe this card,” Lian Xun said, handing over the Black Card.
Just a temporary fix; he’d pay him back later.
“Okay.”
“Please enter the password,” the Waiter/Waitress said with a smile, pushing the POS System in front of Lian Xun.
Lian Xun was dumbfounded. Qi Luzhi hadn’t told him what the password was.
The Waiter/Waitress’s expression changed, wouldn’t think he was trying to skip out on the bill…
Lian Xun braced himself and entered Qi Luzhi’s birthday.
As expected, it was incorrect!
Then, he inexplicably entered his own birthday.
[Payment successful]
The POS System emitted a cold prompt.
Lian Xun froze for a moment. It actually, was his birthday.
Why would Qi Luzhi set the Bank Card password to his birthday?
Lian Xun’s mind was racing, and he couldn’t calm down.
On the other side of the city, Qi Luzhi stared at the bill SMS sent to his phone, looking at it all night.
The next day.
Xun Qi Technologies Office.
“Boss, are you ready yet? We’re going to talk business, not go on a blind date. I’ve never seen you dress up so carefully before.”
Ling Yu had urged him several times, but Lian Xun was still looking in the mirror.
“Okay, let’s go.” Lian Xun finally smoothed his bangs and glanced at his watch. 9:35, if they didn’t leave now, they’d really be late.
“I hope Sheng Shao Group invests in our game. If we can latch onto this big shot, we won’t have to worry about the company going bankrupt ever again,” Ling Yu said, looking forward to the future.
Lian Xun smiled, he did choose Sheng Shao Group partly for personal reasons.
But he definitely wouldn’t tell Ling Yu that.
An hour later, the two arrived at Sheng Shao Group on time. Lian Xun’s handsome appearance attracted frequent glances from the employees of Sheng Shao Group, and even the secretary who came to greet them blushed slightly.
“Please wait a moment; the project team in charge will be here shortly,” the secretary said, leading Lian Xun and Ling Yu to the conference room and pouring them each a cup of tea.
A few minutes later, Li Yang walked in with a few people. They exchanged a few pleasantries and took their seats.
Lian Xun saw the secretary close the door and couldn’t help but feel disappointed. It seemed Qi Luzhi wasn’t in charge of this project.
Li Yang noticed Lian Xun staring blankly at the door and reminded him, “CEO Lian, shall we… begin?”
Lian Xun averted his gaze and gave an apologetic smile. “Yes.”
He gestured to Ling Yu to distribute a proposal to everyone, and then Lian Xun began to explain the project in detail.
The meeting went smoothly, and Li Yang also showed great interest in the project, but Lian Xun wasn’t very happy, probably because he hadn’t seen Qi Luzhi.
He had come specifically for Qi Luzhi, having rehearsed in his mind a thousand times what he would say when they met.
But he didn’t even see the man!
So sad… Lian Xun maintained a polite smile, but his heart was wailing incessantly.
Halfway through the meeting, the office door was suddenly pushed open, and the person who entered exuded a bone-chilling aura, causing everyone present to shudder and look towards the door.
Lian Xun’s heart skipped a beat when he saw the man walking in slowly.
It was Qi Luzhi.
Even though they had just met two days ago, seeing him again made him inexplicably nervous.
Lian Xun swallowed, feeling that Qi Luzhi’s gaze towards him seemed to carry a hint of anger.
The conference room was silent. Li Yang was the first to react and asked, “CEO Qi, what brings you to my meeting? Are you perhaps also interested in this project?”
Qi Luzhi pulled out a chair and sat down next to Li Yang, saying expressionlessly, “Not interested. Can’t I just listen in? I have to sign off on it in the end anyway.”
He had just passed by the conference room and glanced inside casually. When he saw Lian Xun, his first reaction was surprise, followed by a sour surge of anger in his chest.
He couldn’t help but wonder if Lian Xun’s sudden appearance in front of him a few days ago, all those sweet words he had said, were all for this?
Using his identity to facilitate his work…
Ha, saying he wanted to start over, it was all lies. He was such a fool, he almost believed it.
Qi Luzhi paused at the entrance of the conference room for a moment, but still couldn’t resist pushing open the door.
The second half of the meeting was marked by a stifling atmosphere due to Qi Luzhi’s arrival. He wore a dark expression throughout, constantly contradicting Li Yang, scaring everyone else into silence.
“This project still has many loopholes; I don’t agree to invest.”
