Chapter 65: Vengeful Ghost

“Evil spirit, where do you think you’re going?!” The Taoist priest’s voice was somewhat unexpected to Mu Chuang, sounding very young.

With a rustling of grass in the wind, the yin-yang flag fluttered, and the Taoist priest flashed in front of him with a ghostly speed.

“Young Master Mu?” He looked surprised, withdrawing the action of using the yin-yang flag to capture the soul, staring at Mu Chuang in astonishment, “Why are you here?”

According to his understanding of Mu Fang (the original body), shouldn’t he be drinking wine with courtesans on the street right now? Why would he be in this deep mountain forest?

Mu Chuang sized him up. The other party looked no more than sixteen or seventeen years old, a blue Taoist robe wrapped around his slender body, his hair fixed with a wooden hairpin, with a delicate nose and eyes, giving people a feeling that he hadn’t been weaned yet.

“Tch!” Mu Chuang snorted in disdain, staring at this thin little Taoist priest, and couldn’t help but taunt, “Coming out to catch demons at the age of wetting your pants, can’t your parents afford to feed you?”

Then, as if to dispel the other party’s suspicion of him, he deliberately gestured at himself and reprimanded, “You can see such a big living person as an evil spirit, did your master even teach you anything? Or do you usually rely on this to swindle and deceive to make a living?”

On the one hand, he wanted to clear the other party’s suspicion of him, and on the other hand, he began to probe his background forces. Although the other party seemed harmless, he would never take it lightly encountering such a character in this world.

The little Taoist priest was stunned by what he said. In this area, although their master and apprentice couldn’t be considered famous, they were still well-known. How could they become swindlers and deceivers when they got to the son of the county magistrate?

He scratched his head and pondered for a long time before answering Mu Chuang’s questions one by one, “I don’t have parents, my master raised me. Young Master Mu is really forgetful, I helped your family exorcise evil before, how can you say I’m swindling and deceiving now?”

Mu Chuang felt a chill down his spine when he heard this: Damn it, he almost slipped up. He didn’t expect the original body to have had dealings with this kid.

“That doesn’t mean you have real skills,” he did not deny what the other party said, but instead wanted to justify his words just now by questioning the other party’s ability, “Speak, what are you doing here? Shouting and yelling in broad daylight, scaring away all of my rabbits. This young master now orders you to find my rabbits back, otherwise you’ll suffer.”

After he finished speaking, he crossed his arms, looking like a tyrannical bully.

The little Taoist priest frowned, his head-scratching movements becoming even more exaggerated.

“My master said that there is resentment in this mountain forest and sent me to investigate. If there really is, I will ask him to come and deal with it together.” After a pause, he continued, “As for Young Master Mu’s rabbit, can I compensate you with one another day? I have important matters now.”

Mu Chuang originally wanted to scold him for being “rude”, but when he heard the other party say he had important matters and looked anxious to leave, it suited his wishes, so he held back.

“Alright,” he pretended to be generous, and put down his crossed arms, “Since you have important matters, then I won’t make things difficult for you. As for the rabbits, I will catch them myself, no need for you to compensate. Get lost.”

He didn’t want to meet this little Taoist priest again, for fear of being seen through by him.

The little Taoist priest was relieved, thanked him politely, and quickly went in a certain direction with his yin-yang flag.

Mu Chuang stared at his back, belatedly thinking of something. He originally planned to leave quickly, but now he was in no hurry.

    He quietly followed.

The little Taoist priest held the yin-yang flag, shining it here and there, and finally stopped in front of a thicket of thorns.

There were traces of being stepped on in the grass around the thorns. If you didn’t pay attention, you would think it was normal, left by passersby.

But the little Taoist priest had the yin-yang flag in his hand. Although there didn’t seem to be anything in the thorn bushes, he stopped there.

As the flag shook, a gust of wind rose around, and then swirled back into the thorn bushes.

The little Taoist priest looked pale. After a while, he gasped for breath and muttered to himself, “Sure enough, it’s a powerful thing, almost backfired on me. I have to go back and find my master quickly.”

After he finished speaking, he ran away, feeling a bit like he was running for his life.

Mu Chuang watched this scene and pondered silently, and a truth emerged.

He quickly left the forest, tapped his toes, and returned to the yamen in the blink of an eye.

It was lunchtime, and the family was sitting in the dining hall waiting.

As soon as he entered, he was reprimanded by Mu’s Father, “You still know to come back for dinner? Three concubines and a male favorite aren’t enough for you to enjoy? You still have to run to the streets? What’s the point of being a hoodlum all day long?”

Mu Chuang felt extremely wronged, but when he thought of what had just happened, he had to ignore the reprimand and drag his “father” aside.

“What are you doing?” Mu’s Father was dragged out of the dining hall by him. Confused, his anger grew even stronger, “You’re acting crazy as soon as you come back, are you really out of your mind?”

Mu Chuang didn’t say a word, and took him to a secluded place before whispering in his ear, “Father, I just saw a thicket of thorns in the back mountain, and it’s been targeted by a little Taoist priest.”

Mu’s Father’s face turned pale when he heard this, “Really? Did he see something?”

“He said there was resentment there, and he’s just gone back to prepare to invite his master.” Mu Chuang kept staring at his father’s face. If he guessed correctly, Wu Liangde, who had been dealt with by them, must be buried inside.

But the ground of the thorns was flat, showing that his father had been very careful when he ordered people to do it. Not only was it buried very deep, but he also put the entire piece of thorns back in place. If it hadn’t been discovered by the Taoist priest, ordinary people really couldn’t see it.

“This vengeful ghost, so many people don’t have resentment, but he’s not convinced, he’s really a troublemaker.” Mu’s Father gritted his teeth, not even bothering to eat, “Quickly find two people to deal with him, quickly!”

“Okay.” Hearing Mu’s Father’s words, Mu Chuang was even more certain of his guess. Without asking any more questions, he followed his father to find the two guards who were responsible for handling Wu Liangde that night.

The guards were Mu’s Father’s personal bodyguards, and they were clearly different from ordinary yamen runners. They knew many of his secrets and were his confidants, so he was more comfortable using them than yamen runners.

The group quickly arrived in the mountain forest. Perhaps because the county yamen was closer to the mountain forest than the little Taoist priest’s residence, they arrived one step ahead.

“Dig it up quickly and feed it to wild animals.” Mu’s Father ordered the two guards, wanting to destroy the source of resentment by destroying his body, and at the same time avoid Wu Liangde’s body being seen and leaked out.

Who knew that as soon as they started digging, a strong wind rose around them, blowing so hard that the few of them could barely stand.

“Motherxx,” Mu Chuang began to curse again, “You bastard, what are you dissatisfied with? You pay for your life, shouldn’t you die?”
