AWDC Chapter 16
by VolareChapter 16: Disagreeing with Transferring People
“Hehe, Manager Mu, look, none of them are piling up.” Li Weili chuckled, looking rather simple. Outwardly, he didn’t seem suited for management, but he had climbed to that position through seniority.
This was a man with a family, now with a son and a daughter. His wife worked at the factory next door, and they could only be together in the evenings.
Now, suddenly, he came to ask for Liu Jingjing, which couldn’t help but arouse Mu Chuang’s suspicion.
“It’s still early; how could they pile up as soon as work starts?” Mu Chuang retorted. “And I don’t quite understand why Manager Li specifically wants Liu Jingjing and not someone else?”
Li Weili looked a bit embarrassed upon hearing this, but he quickly composed himself and quietly handed over a box of “Chunghwa” cigarettes. “Brother, helping others is helping yourself.”
As he spoke, he winked at Mu Chuang, clearly trying to achieve his goal through bribery.
Mu Chuang pushed the “Chunghwa” cigarettes back to him, with a forced smile, and said, “Manager Li, don’t rush. After work, I’ll ask her myself to see if she’s willing.”
Although Liu Jingjing had been kicked out of his “girlfriend” pool, what she did afterward was no longer his concern.
However, Li Weili had a family. He didn’t want another woman to be hurt because Liu Jingjing had a sudden impulse, nor could he bear to watch Liu Jingjing follow such a middle-aged man at such a young age.
Therefore, he planned to ask her in person after work. If that’s really what she wanted, he wouldn’t mind giving her a warning to prevent her from taking a wrong step and harming herself and others.
Hearing him say this, Li Weili couldn’t press him any further, but he still pushed the “Chunghwa” cigarettes back to him. “There’s no taking back what’s been given away. Don’t be so polite, brother.”
The other party’s “sincerity” made Mu Chuang read more into it, but he wasn’t one to take petty advantages. Amid the other’s smiling face, he refused again, “Manager Li, don’t be like this. I have a bit of a temper. I’ll naturally do what I’m willing to do. If I’m unwilling, even if you give me mountains of gold and silver, I’ll still refuse.”
“Go ahead and take care of your business first. I’ll give you an answer tomorrow morning.” He said one last sentence, then busied himself with his own affairs, completely ignoring Li Weili.
Li Weili awkwardly took back the “Chunghwa” cigarettes, feeling somewhat contemptuous of this young man’s behavior, feeling that people like him would inevitably be ostracized in the workplace sooner or later.
“Alright then, I’ll wait for your news tomorrow morning.” He left with a sentence, glancing at Liu Jingjing’s location. The unpleasantness from earlier suddenly disappeared, replaced by a beaming smile.
When work ended in the evening, after dinner, Mu Chuang blocked Liu Jingjing downstairs in the female employees’ dormitory building.
She was dressed stylishly and fashionably, wearing a newly bought short skirt that accentuated her medium height, creating the illusion of long legs.
The newly bought platform boots were a centimeter taller than the previous ones, making her look instantly taller and slender.
“What does Manager Mu mean by this?” She looked at the man blocking her path. He had one arm propped against the wall, trapping her in a small space, his eyes as sharp as a hawk’s.
“You’ve hooked up with another man so quickly?” Mu Chuang questioned in a casual tone, but without any hint of jealousy.
“So what if I have?” Liu Jingjing was defiant, but her fantasies about this man hadn’t faded. “Could it be that Manager Mu regrets it?”
“Tch!” Mu Chuang let out a disdainful sound, looking down at the woman he had cornered with a gangster-like air. “There’s no taking back what’s been thrown away. I just want to remind you that Li Weili has a family. As a woman yourself, don’t be so immoral, and don’t degrade yourself so casually.”
“Which eye of yours saw that I have something to do with him?” Liu Jingjing initially denied it, but soon she retorted like a resentful woman, without any sense of shame, “Even if I do have something to do with him, is it any of your business? He’s been pursuing me for a long time, it’s just that you don’t know it. He loves me like his life, saying that his old hag at home isn’t worthy of being compared to me at all. If I marry him, he’ll definitely hold me up to the sky. Unlike some people, who are blind and whose eye sockets are broken.”
“Tch!” Mu Chuang disdained again, and withdrew his arm from the wall, moving further away from Liu Jingjing. “Your brain is feverish right now, and you’ll definitely regret it in the future. To sober you up, I won’t agree to transfer you to the third floor. I hope you’ll find your way back and consider it carefully.”
Liu Jingjing hesitated for a moment, a sly look flashing in her eyes. “Unless you can choose me, otherwise please be a good dog and don’t block my way.”
A fierce glint appeared in Mu Chuang’s eyes, and he almost lost control of his hand because she cursed him.
“You’re so cheap, I’m afraid of dirtying my hands if I hit you.” After saying that, he lit a cigarette, took a few hard puffs, and tried to suppress the urge to strangle this woman.
Liu Jingjing was frightened by his appearance and didn’t speak for the time being. The scene fell into a brief silence, but unfortunately, Lin Xi, who had come out for some fresh air, saw it.
Mu Chuang had told him after dinner that he was going out to buy something and would be back soon, asking him to stay obediently at home. And he had obediently done so, cleaning up the dishes they had used and sweeping the kitchen again. Seeing that the other hadn’t returned yet, he thought of going out to the balcony for some fresh air.
But he didn’t expect to run into this kind of scene when he looked down, and his heart was filled with mixed feelings.
The female employees’ dormitory building was right across from them, and he could see it very clearly from the balcony on this side.
“Didn’t you say you broke up with her? Why are you contacting her again?” Lin Xi said in his heart, very puzzled. “Could it be that Brother Chuang can’t bear to part with her again?”
“And, didn’t you say you were going to buy something? Why…” Lin Xi suddenly felt that no matter how good Mu Chuang was to him, he still reserved personal space and didn’t tell him everything truthfully. Perhaps he wasn’t the way he seemed underneath.
His hand on the railing clenched again.
But Mu Chuang left Liu Jingjing at this time, as if believing you can’t advise someone bent on suicide and letting her go out to jump into a fire pit.
By the time he bought some daily necessities and roasted a few skewers of lamb on the way back, Lin Xi had already gone to bed.
In fact, he wasn’t asleep, but felt restless and a little dizzy.
“Is Xi Xi sleeping so early?” Mu Chuang asked as soon as he came in. “It’s a bit early to sleep now, I’m afraid you’ll wake up in the middle of the night, and you won’t have any energy tomorrow.”
The smell of lamb skewers wafted into Lin Xi’s nose through the air that rushed in when the door opened, but it didn’t arouse his appetite, but rather made him feel a little nauseous.
And that smell was getting closer and closer to him, as Mu Chuang placed the oiled paper package on top of his head.
“Does it smell good?” He asked, “I specially roasted it for you, get up and eat it before going back to sleep.”
“No, I’m sleepy.” Lin Xi closed his eyes, not wanting to look or smell, pretending to be sleepy, but the truth was he was a little dizzy.
Seeing that his face looked a little strange, Mu Chuang took the lamb skewers off his head and placed them on the bedside table.
“What’s wrong?” He was a little worried, reaching out a hand to touch his forehead, and withdrew it after feeling that it wasn’t hot. “Are you really sleepy, or are you feeling unwell?”
