Chapter 41: A Sudden Flutter of the Heart

Chen Zhuo practically leaped out of bed in an instant.

Before Zhao Jiashu and Li Ang could even react, he had already jumped down, barefoot, and unlocked the door.

The bright light of the fluorescent lamp in the hallway spilled into the room. Chen Zhuo stared blankly at Xie Yu standing at the door, soaking wet and dripping.

It was like a dream. Time seemed to stand still.

Chen Zhuo couldn’t hear the rumbling thunder. All he could hear was the “drip-drop” of the raindrops sliding down Xie Yu’s cheeks and landing on his heart.

That tranquil lake in his heart was rippled by tiny circles. Only he knew what kind of stormy waves surged beneath.

Chen Zhuo moved his lips, as if he couldn’t believe it, and said very softly, “Xie Yu?”

Xie Yu was backlit, and the ice and snow between his brows and eyes instantly melted. He chuckled softly, wanting to touch Chen Zhuo’s messy little curls, but afraid that the rain on his hands would wet him. “What? Don’t recognize me?”

Zhao Jiashu and Li Ang “whooshed” down from their beds and crowded behind Chen Zhuo, interrupting the hazy ambiguity.

Zhao Jiashu said in disbelief, “Oh my god, it’s raining so hard. Yu-ge, why are you back? Does our dorm have something good enough to make you come back at this hour?”

Xie Yu awkwardly glanced at Chen Zhuo and said to the two of them, “Mind your own business. I want to, okay? I’m freezing to death. Let me take a shower quickly.”

Chen Zhuo seemed to snap back to reality. He stepped aside to let him in.

Xie Yu took off his clothes as he walked, throwing his wet jacket and pants on the floor. He stripped down until he was only wearing his briefs.

He suddenly turned his head to look at Chen Zhuo, who was still standing there. “The floor is so cold. Why aren’t you wearing shoes? Hurry up and get into bed.”

In the dim light, Chen Zhuo watched Xie Yu’s retreating figure as he walked towards the bathroom. He silently put on his slippers and wordlessly picked up Xie Yu’s scattered clothes from the floor and put them in a plastic basin.

Zhao Jiashu, who witnessed everything, widened his eyes in disbelief. His mouth was shocked into an “O” shape.

He rubbed his eyes, then rubbed them again, and whispered to Li Ang, “Am I seeing things? Did Zhuo’er just pick up Yu-ge’s clothes?? Does he owe Yu-ge money?”

Li Ang glanced at Chen Zhuo with a complex expression and scratched his head. “Who knows? Never mind. Anyway… let’s go to bed.”

Zhao Jiashu was completely confused. “Anyway what?”

Li Ang scratched his head again. “Anyway, I don’t know. These are grown-up things, kids shouldn’t ask.”

Chen Zhuo sat in his chair in a daze. It had only been ten minutes since he sent Xie Yu the WeChat message, yet Xie Yu was able to get back so quickly. This meant that Xie Yu was already on his way before he even received his message.

Chen Zhuo touched his cheek with the back of his hand. It was a little hot.

A slight current ran through his heart, making him feel numb and tingly. His thoughts floated on a soft, fluffy cloud, making him feel dizzy.

The sound of water stopped in the bathroom.

Xie Yu walked out of the bathroom door with a loose towel around his waist, barely hanging on his hips, bringing with him a steamy, humid air. He saw Chen Zhuo sitting obediently and was stunned.

“Why are you still sitting down there?” Xie Yu’s gaze fell on Chen Zhuo’s bare arms and legs. “Aren’t you cold?”

Chen Zhuo’s desk lamp was on, a rechargeable one that could adjust the brightness. It gently coated his handsome face with a layer of light, and the citrus scent in the air seemed to become sweeter.

His gaze slid from Xie Yu’s vaguely visible mermaid line, then returned, following the beautiful muscle undulations upwards. He met Xie Yu’s dark, ambiguous eyes and said softly, “A little.”

    Again, “a little.”

Under Chen Zhuo’s snake-like, lingering gaze, Xie Yu’s throat bobbed. He awkwardly rubbed his hair with a towel and said stiffly, “Then hurry up and get into bed. You’ll warm up if you wrap yourself in the blanket.”

Chen Zhuo didn’t reply. He stood up, and the wheels of the computer chair scraped against the floor, making a slight noise.

He walked towards the bed ladder, then suddenly turned his head. His dark, bright eyes gleamed with a thin layer of moonlight-like light. He glanced at Xie Yu with a spring breeze-like gaze, then quickly retracted it, and climbed onto the bed.

The movement pulled at his loose pajama pants, and a flash of fair skin and a light gray waistband flickered before Xie Yu’s eyes.

It was the one that had been wrapped in his palm, stained with his warmth, and stuffed into his parka pocket.

Xie Yu thought Chen Zhuo would throw it away, but he didn’t expect…

    Is he seducing me?

Xie Yu clenched the towel, restraining his suddenly heavier breathing, and cursed fiercely in his heart, “So slutty!”

Below the bed, Xie Yu was making rustling noises as he packed things, dried his hair, and changed his clothes.

Chen Zhuo buried himself in the blanket, leaving only his eyes exposed, staring blankly at the ceiling illuminated by the faint light.

His mind was completely drawn to the movements below.

His head was full of the image of Xie Yu soaking wet when he opened the door, rushing into his eyes, and even his heart, with the wind and rain.

The heavy rain kept washing against the glass windows, the dark night sky was torn apart by lightning, and the thunder chased after the hurricane, crushing the heavens and earth.

Chen Zhuo shivered and pressed his ears into the pillow.

The rustling noises below the bed paused for a moment, then the desk lamp was turned off, the light source in the dormitory disappeared, and it fell into darkness again.

The joints of the old iron bed frame creaked, as Xie Yu climbed up the ladder and onto Chen Zhuo’s bed without hesitation.

He hugged him through the blanket, covering Chen Zhuo’s ears, and said very softly, “Don’t be afraid.”

Xie Yu’s arms were broad and strong. Chen Zhuo was tightly bound by his strength, and he slowly regained his sense of security in his tough, masculine aura.

The side rail of the bed concealed the two figures.

But as long as Zhao Jiashu or Li Ang turned over and sat up, they would be able to discover their abnormality. Good buddies wouldn’t hug so tightly, especially since they had been mortal enemies who fought whenever they met not long ago.

Chen Zhuo’s head was pressed against Xie Yu’s chest, and his arms were bound by the blanket. He struggled back and forth, “Umm, umm.”

“Shhh, shhh–” Xie Yu tightened his hold on him nervously, and whispered, “Don’t make a sound, someone will hear.”

Chen Zhuo’s nose was about to be flattened by his solid pectoral muscles. Before he was suffocated to death by the breasts, he finally found some space, opened his mouth, and bit him!

“Ah, fuck!” Xie Yu instantly teared up, suddenly released Chen Zhuo, and covered his mouth tightly with both hands to avoid crying out in pain.

Xie Yu was in so much pain that he hammered the pillow. He covered his chest with his hand and glared at Chen Zhuo angrily, taking small breaths of cold air.

He whispered, “Chen Zhuo, you’re really ruthless! Even when a dog bites Lü Dongbin, it doesn’t bite someone’s nipple!”

Chen Zhuo seemed to have finally come back to life, breathing in fresh air. He wanted to laugh but held back, gasping, “Then it must not have had the experience of almost being suffocated by big boobs. I even saw my parents coming to pick me up just now.”

Xie Yu was silent for two seconds, then covered his chest and chuckled softly, muttering, “Crazy! Hurry up and let me see, I feel like it’s going to fall off, it hurts so much.”
