    Chapter 33: Discernment

It was 8:30 PM, the neon lights flickered, and Jiangbei city was plunged into the deep night.

A matte black Mercedes GT63S cut through the tide of traffic and slowly entered the parking lot in front of Bar Street.

The car door opened, and a young man in a dark-colored windbreaker bent over and climbed out.

Broad shoulders and long legs, the brim of his baseball cap was pulled down low, allowing only a glimpse of his distinct jawline and tightly pursed thin lips.

After locking the car, the young man walked into the crowd with his hands in his pockets, quickly heading towards the opposite street of red and green lights. His figure flashed at the end of the street and disappeared.

It was still early, and the nightlife hadn’t officially started, so there weren’t many people in the bar.

If you paid close attention, you’d notice that the scattered people, whether standing or sitting, were all men.

This was the most famous gay bar in Jiangbei, only serving male customers. In short, it was a gathering place for gay men to socialize and hunt for romance.

The DJ was warming up on stage, the bartender was wiping glasses, and the customers were listlessly holding their glasses. In the dim environment, no one noticed the handsome young man standing at the door.

The air was thick with the “virus” of homosexuality, and Xie Yu’s feet felt like they were filled with lead, unable to move.

An observant waiter spotted him and enthusiastically went to greet him.

Silently sizing up his low-key yet expensive attire, he flattered, “Is this your first time here, sir? Are you here for a drink or to relax?”

Xie Yu glanced at him faintly, “What do you mean by relax?”

The waiter was intimidated by his cold, sharp eyes and subconsciously retreated.

But after seeing the million-dollar watch on his left wrist, he still tried to force a smile, “Don’t worry, sir, we run a legitimate business here. What I mean is, what type of person are you interested in? If there’s a good match, I can introduce you.”

Xie Yu ignored him, putting on a brave face as if going to his execution. He steeled himself, raised his foot, and walked inside, muttering to himself, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

The waiter didn’t want to miss out on a big sale today and followed him, “Sir, what did you say?”

Xie Yu’s profile was hidden in the light and shadow, “I said, open two bottles of good wine and get me a booth.”

The waiter immediately beamed, “This way, please.”

People gradually entered the bar. The waiter was good at reading faces and got him a booth that was both private and had an excellent view.

Xie Yu raised the brim of his cap slightly, the wine glass gently swirling in his hand. He openly looked at everyone in the room, trying to find common ground among these diverse individuals.

Some people had very obvious characteristics, practically shouting that they were gay, but most were impossible to tell.

Xie Yu brought the wine to his lips and took a sip.

If he had to say what they had in common, it was their eyes.

They were extremely purposeful, as if they had torn off the layer of pretense from the daytime, searching for their desired target in a direct, blatant, and eager way.

Xie Yu could feel the eager gazes falling on him, it was strange and unsettling, making him want to run away.

A slender boy sidled up to the booth, boldly leaning close to Xie Yu and sweetly asking, “Handsome, are you alone?”

The woody floral fragrance of the perfume drilled straight into Xie Yu’s nose. It wasn’t pungent, and could even be considered pleasant.

But Xie Yu still felt disgusted, as if even the most expensive perfume couldn’t compare to the citrus scent mixed with flesh on Chen Zhuo’s body.

After that conclusion popped into his head, Xie Yu was shocked.

The boy saw that he didn’t push him away, and proudly raised his head at his companion not far away. His hand began to explore Xie Yu’s thigh inappropriately.

Before he could touch him, Xie Yu grabbed his arm and threw it off, frowning in disgust, “Get lost.”

The boy wasn’t angry, and gave him a half-coquettish, half-resentful glare, rubbing his arm, “Why so fierce? You hurt me.”

Xie Yu got goosebumps from his deliberately sweet voice, and looked at the eyeliner drawn at the corner of his eyes with a complicated expression.

Xie Yu respected and understood that everyone had different personalities.

But at this moment, in front of this “brother” who was showing him intense interest, he really wanted to slam this guy’s head into the ice bucket on the table to make him normal.

The dim environment softened Xie Yu’s sharp eyebrows and eyes. The “brother” was even a little embarrassed by his gaze.

The “brother” affectedly picked up the wine glass on the table, his lips pressing against the spot where Xie Yu had just drunk, and took a sip of wine, his eyes staring straight at Xie Yu.

Xie Yu said expressionlessly, “That sip of wine costs five hundred, WeChat or Alipay?”

The “brother,” who was about to cramp his eyes, twitched his mouth, “Dude, are you okay? Are you trying to scam me!”

    Relieved.

Xie Yu pulled away from him, called the waiter, and asked for two new glasses, personally pouring the wine.

Under the “brother’s” suspicious gaze, he touched his new glass to his and said, “I want to ask you a few questions, the drinks are on me tonight.”

“Hmph, many people want to buy me drinks.”

The “brother” suddenly felt bored, twirling his hair with his fingers, unwillingly looking at Xie Yu’s handsome face. Suddenly, he covered his face with his hand, looked Xie Yu up and down, and said in surprise, “Oh my god! You’re not a sister, are you?”

Xie Yu opened the payment code interface, with a cold face, “Five hundred, scan the code and pay.”

The “brother” immediately sat up straight and took a sip of wine, “Say it, what’s the problem? I’ll tell you everything I know.”

Xie Yu put away his phone, cleared his throat, and was even a little embarrassed, “Um, how did you know you were gay?”

The “brother’s” face darkened, “No wonder you weren’t interested in me, are you a straight guy here for fun?”

“No, I’m not even sure if I’m still straight.” Xie Yu looked very confused, “If I’m not interested in any other men except him, what does that mean?”

The “brother” rolled his eyes, “Are you showing off your true love to me?”

“True love?” Xie Yu clenched the wine glass, “But he’s a guy, and I don’t like guys.”

The “brother” curled his lips, “Have you ever liked a woman? Other than your mom, your grandma, and your grandmother, I mean a woman who can make you feel sexually interested.”

    Xie Yu shook his head.

The “brother” became interested, looking at him with a grin, “Then do you like him?”

Xie Yu frowned slightly, staring at the transparent wine in the glass, “I don’t know, sometimes I really want to beat him up, and sometimes I really want to hug him.”

Before he could think deeply, the “brother” bluntly said, “Then do you want to sleep with him?”

Xie Yu’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his eyes flickered, avoiding the question, stubbornly saying, “But he’s a man.”

The “brother” cursed a string of swear words silently, wanting to turn around and leave, but he really couldn’t bear to give up such a delicious prey as Xie Yu.

So he leaned in again, breathing in his ear, “Baby, men can do it too, I’ll teach you.”
