Chapter 41: Late and Forced to Run

It was lunchtime, and the usually quiet 606 dormitory was filled with thunderous snoring.

    “Huff, huff… whew… huff, huff…”

“Qu Minghui’s probably got adenoid hypertrophy. The way he’s snoring, sounds like he’s about to kick the bucket,” Lin Sheng complained, lying on his side in bed, covering his ears.

Zhou Zhou wasn’t asleep. He was lying on his side in bed with his earphones on, binge-watching a drama. The light from the screen flickered on his face.

Watching the trashy men and women in the melodramatic series forgiving each other and embracing, he felt a burst of frustration.

They were both protagonists, but everyone else was reaching a grand finale, while Pei Yanlie and Su Wanxing had zero interaction.

Su Wanxing falling in love with the male lead at first sight was something to celebrate.

But Pei Yanlie acted like he had gynophobia, dodging and weaving. Could he really have been possessed?

He turned off his phone and closed his eyes, lost in thought.

He couldn’t miss such a great opportunity as the sports meet.

The little white flower female lead had poor physical fitness and would likely not win first place.

Without first place, she naturally wouldn’t be able to shake hands intimately with the male lead and exchange loving glances.

He carefully recalled the scene from the plot.

Before the end of the sports meet, Pei Yanlie would be invited to participate in an interactive game.

After the sports meet and the awards ceremony, he would get splashed with milk tea by the female supporting character and head to the empty, private changing room to change his clothes.

Seeing that the time was right, the female supporting character, Mu Xinyao, would order her girlfriends to lock herself and Pei Yanlie inside.

Because Pei Yanlie had a good impression of the female lead who won first place, he had no interest in the female supporting character’s advances.

Before five minutes had passed, a bodyguard would break down the door, and the male lead would leave without hesitation, leaving the female supporting character heartbroken.

A glimmer of hope appeared in Zhou Zhou’s eyes, and the corners of his mouth turned up involuntarily. He chuckled softly, “This is a good opportunity. As long as I lock Su Wanxing in there, I don’t believe those two will remain unmoved!”

Qu Minghui’s snoring stopped abruptly. He sat up straight, still with his eyes closed, and said in a ghostly voice, “Something’s not right, really not right.”

Zhou Zhou took off his earphones, raised his head slightly, and glanced at him. Seeing that he didn’t seem to be fully awake, he asked curiously, “What’s not right?”

He mumbled, “My goddess rejected my love and threw herself into the arms of a diamond bachelor.”

Lin Sheng rolled his eyes and retorted, “Sounds about right. What’s the problem?”

Chen Qihang sat up, put on his black-framed glasses, and said calmly, “Don’t force it if it’s not meant to be.”

“No, I have to work harder and try to lose 20 pounds by the end of the month!” Qu Minghui seemed to be hit hard. He suddenly opened his eyes and clenched his fist angrily.

Zhou Zhou gave him a thumbs up and smiled, “Alright, I’ll be watching. Go for it.”

Chen Qihang walked down the ladder, quickly scanned Zhou Zhou, and reminded him in a low voice, “We have PE class this afternoon.”

Zhou Zhou responded lazily and remained lying on his side in bed, unwilling to get up.

At this time, there were only 10 minutes left before class.

Qu Minghui and Lin Sheng sat up. They didn’t have classes in the afternoon, so they went to play games online.

Chen Qihang picked up his bag and left first.

It wasn’t until five minutes later that Zhou Zhou slowly sat up and stretched.

He gently closed his eyes and slowly took off his vest, changing into a loose white t-shirt.

The fair skin flashed before Qu Minghui’s eyes, seeming to sting them. He raised his eyes and stared at Zhou Zhou, teasing, “Your skin is even whiter and smoother than my goddess’.”

Zhou Zhou sat on the bed, looking down as he put on his sneakers. His gaze fell on his glowing white arm, and a hint of dislike flashed in his eyes. He casually asked, “Uh-huh, got any plans this Saturday?”

Qu Minghui’s eyes returned to his phone, his fingers rapidly swiping across the screen. He hesitated for a moment before answering, “Let me think. Not really, I was thinking of just staying in the dorm for two days since it’s a weekend off.”

Zhou Zhou continued to ask, “What about Lin Sheng?”

Lin Sheng replied with a smile, “Whatcha need? Got something going on?”

Zhou Zhou put on his shoes and stood up, stepping back and looking up at Lin Sheng. He said slowly, “Yeah, going to the beach to sunbathe, wanna come?”

The two didn’t hesitate and agreed.

When Zhou Zhou arrived at the sports field from the dormitory, it was already 2:10 PM.

It wasn’t just Class A1 having PE class, there were other classes as well.

The PE teacher was wearing a black vest, and he had a body full of muscle. A big guy of 1.8 meters, as strong as an ox.

Seeing Zhou Zhou arriving late, he scowled and reprimanded, “Although PE class isn’t a major course, it still accounts for a portion of your credits. Are you saying you don’t want your credits by being late?”

Zhou Zhou stood next to Chen Qihang, raised his eyes to look directly at the PE teacher, and said in a lazy tone, “Teacher, I have sleep paralysis. I struggled to get up.”

“Pfft, sleep paralysis, what’s that?” Some students whispered amongst themselves.

Zhou Zhou looked at him, raised an eyebrow, and replied, “Commonly known as being haunted in your sleep.”

“Enough talk, if you’re in my class, you have to follow my rules. Everyone, stand at attention! Stand properly! From now on, whoever is late for class by one minute will be penalized with a 1000-meter run, and so on!”

“Ah… oh,” everyone said with a strained expression, unsure of how to respond.

“Teacher, Zhou Zhou is ten minutes late, does that mean he has to run 10,000 meters?” A rough, male voice rang out from the crowd.

Zhou Zhou followed the sound and saw a boy with a face full of acne glaring at him fiercely.

    Tsk, trying to cause trouble?

What’s this guy’s name? How dare he yell in front of him.

He chuckled, a cold glint flashing in his eyes, and said with a half-smile, “Acne-face, you’ve got a pretty big mouth.”

“What acne-face? My name is Liu Qian!” He roared, his face flushed red.

The PE teacher roared with a dark face, “Do you two think I don’t exist! Step out!”

Zhou Zhou curled his lips and said faintly, “Oh.”

Liu Qian tensed his face and said “ah” with a grin.

The PE teacher dropped the harsh words, “You two, run three laps around the sports field. Whoever loses runs three more laps!”

    Zhou Zhou frowned instantly, unwilling.

Liu Qian was eager to try, thinking that with Zhou Zhou’s lazy appearance, there was no way he could beat him!

The PE teacher put on a stern face and shouted, “You have no room to resist. Start running as soon as the whistle blows. If you’re still standing still, don’t even think about leaving class today!”

Everyone had a gloating expression. Su Wanxing frowned and looked at Zhou Zhou, shouting, “Zhou Zhou, go for it!”

“Zhou Zhou, go for it.” Mu Xinyao couldn’t help but follow, after all, he was her ex-boyfriend, and she still had him in her heart.

Someone started, and a bunch of girls cheered for Zhou Zhou.

Liu Qian didn’t have a single supporter and his face turned green with anger.

As soon as the whistle blew, two figures ran forward along the track.

Liu Qian took a deep breath and ran forward quickly as if the wind was at his feet, turning his head as he ran, afraid that Zhou Zhou would catch up.

Zhou Zhou walked at a steady pace, not chasing him. His slender figure formed a beautiful scene on the track.

The loose white t-shirt billowed in the wind, and his dark, soft hair fluttered with it, revealing his smooth, fair forehead.

Because of the glaring sunlight, he narrowed his eyes slightly, and the corners of his mouth curved into a nice arc. His slightly raised chin made him look even more like a proud little cat, as if he was about to bare his fangs and claws at any moment.

In Pei Yanlie’s eyes, the person seemed to be radiating a dazzling light, making him stop in his tracks.

He stood quietly on the school road outside the sports field, and a hint of gentle light appeared in his deep eyes unconsciously.

    “President Pei?”

    “President Pei?”

“The master is already waiting at the new dormitory building.”

The principal of Beicheng University called him several times, but there was no response.

He simply stopped calling and turned his attention to the boy being penalized, wondering what the relationship between him and President Pei was.
