    Chapter 61: The Scumbag

The cold weather and the rain ultimately failed to be remedied by that half cup of ginger tea, and Yu Zhanrong didn’t recover.

In the middle of the night, Yu Zhanrong was half-asleep, feeling like he was having a dream. In the dream, he was freezing like a dog in the icy snow. He finally found a heated room where he could keep warm.

Suddenly, he was thrown into a furnace, the heat making him want to hug a block of ice to cool down.

Tormented in this alternating space of cold and heat, Yu Zhanrong couldn’t help but swear in his dream, but he couldn’t even make a sound?

Finally, he was rescued by a ringing sound. Yu Zhanrong reached out to cover his heavy head, and was burned by the temperature of his own skull.

“Yu’er, why haven’t you come to class yet? Did you oversleep?”

    “I, cough, help me…”

“Holy crap!” Yang You, who had been leaning on the railing, straightened up instantly. “What’s wrong with you? Your voice is so hoarse?”

Yu Zhanrong frowned tightly, swallowing with difficulty, his throat feeling like he had swallowed a blade: “I have a cold, a bit of a fever.”

“Hey, then I’ll help you ask for leave. You should take some medicine quickly, and I’ll come find you after class.”

    “It’s nothing, just a small cold…”

“Small my ass, your voice is like that already. I’ll come over after class.”

Yu Zhanrong didn’t have the energy to argue with Yang You, nor did he want to say another word, so he let him be.

He struggled to get out of bed and went to the living room to find the medicine cabinet that Song Baiyan had prepared for him when he first moved in. From the dazzling array of spare medicines, he found a thermometer and took his temperature.

    38.9 degrees Celsius.

Damn! This is probably going to burn me to death.

Yu Zhanrong rubbed his red nose and fell into deep hesitation. Should he grit his teeth and go to the hospital, or take a fever reducer and go back to bed?

Just as he was struggling, he inadvertently looked up and met Ah Li’s eyes.

Dead memories suddenly revived, and he remembered that he had promised Song Baiyan yesterday to take care of Ah Li.

He knew he felt like he had forgotten something when he woke up.

He had let Ah Li go hungry on the first day, Yu Zhanrong felt guilty. He grabbed a long coat and wrapped himself up.

He should have brought the cat food over last night, now he had to drag his sick body to make the trip.

Song Baiyan’s password was already memorized. Yu Zhanrong entered the password, thinking he might as well just take the cat food to his place, it would be more convenient, at least he wouldn’t have to run back and forth.

The door opened, he held the cat in one hand and held onto the shoe cabinet with the other, changing his shoes.

Having a fever was really too uncomfortable, these few steps were already exhausting, and his head was dizzy. He shook his head to keep himself awake.

He looked up at the living room.

    ???!!

Did he go to the wrong place?!

    Or was he hallucinating?

His dizzy head made him sluggish, and Yu Zhanrong stood there dumbfounded.

In the living room, a lady with an outstanding temperament was complaining to someone on the phone, and turned her head when she heard the movement at the entrance.

She met Yu Zhanrong’s confused and helpless eyes, and immediately smiled, gentle and warm.

The lady whispered “something came up” into the phone and hung up. She quickly walked towards him.

Ah Li saw a familiar person, jumped out of Yu Zhanrong’s arms, and went straight to the woman.

Mrs. Tan hadn’t seen the little one for a long time, and came specifically to see it, but she didn’t expect Ah Li to be not at home. She called Song Baiyan to find out that he had gone out of town.

But at this moment, she couldn’t care about the little one at her feet and the stinky boy who didn’t even report when he went out of town.

Her heart and eyes were filled with the little boy at the entrance, who was flushed, with delicate features, and suspected of being her son’s boyfriend.

Her stinky boy was so old and this was his first relationship, she was so curious.

Looking at the person getting closer and closer, Yu Zhanrong quietly held his breath.

“Oh dear, don’t be nervous, I’m Song Baiyan’s mother, I’m very easygoing, don’t be afraid.”

Yu Zhanrong choked, almost running out of breath.

You are Song Baiyan’s mother, I am even more nervous.

“Auntie, hello.” He tried to make his voice sound normal.

But his hoarse voice couldn’t be concealed. Mrs. Tan immediately heard that something was wrong. Looking at his flushed face and lethargic appearance, she didn’t look well.

She quickly grabbed Yu Zhanrong’s hand and exclaimed, “Oh dear, why is it so hot?” She then placed the back of her hand on his forehead, “You have a high fever, how does Song Baiyan take care of people?”

“Quick, quick, go inside and lie down.” Mrs. Tan pulled him into the house without saying a word.

    “Auntie, I…”

“Don’t worry, hurry up and lie down and rest, leave the rest to Auntie.” Mrs. Tan tried to be gentle and soft-spoken, for fear of scaring him, “Have a good sleep, and you won’t feel uncomfortable when you wake up.”

Yu Zhanrong’s head was buzzing, a chaotic mess. By the time he reacted, he was already lying in the soft quilt, his head becoming more and more dizzy.

Auntie is so enthusiastic, he couldn’t handle it at all.

He also didn’t have the strength.

Vaguely, someone came in to take his temperature, gently calling him to take medicine and drink water, and telling him to have a good sleep.

After settling him down and cooking porridge in the pot, Mrs. Tan believed that her son’s behavior of leaving his feverish little boyfriend alone at home was very irresponsible.

So she called him and gave him a severe scolding.

Song Baiyan was holding the phone, baffled by the scolding. What did he do?

How did he become a heartless man?

Has Mrs. Tan watched too many TV dramas?

“Wait, Mom.” Song Baiyan rubbed his forehead in a headache. “What are you talking about boyfriend? Whose? Don’t put the drama you watched on me.”

“Don’t deny it, I saw it, in your apartment, thin and small, with a high fever, so pitiful, how can you bear to leave him alone at home.”

    “Scumbag!”

After the phone was hung up, Song Baiyan had a headache, but he still summarized what Mrs. Tan meant.

His little junior brother had a high fever because of the rain yesterday, and this morning he should have gone to feed the cat, and then ran into Mrs. Tan.

Mrs. Tan misunderstood that he was his boyfriend, so she left him to take care of him, thinking that he went out to have fun, leaving him at home to suffer, and severely criticized him, directly putting the word “scumbag” on his head.

Mrs. Tan, who was deeply poisoned by idol dramas, probably also imagined a bloody drama, mostly that he was flirting outside, while the poor little one was miserable and lonely at home.

Although he was speechless about Mrs. Tan’s imagination, Song Baiyan couldn’t help but worry when he thought about Yu Zhanrong’s condition.

Mrs. Tan hung up the phone after scolding him, and didn’t say anything about the specific situation.

He had no choice but to call Mrs. Tan back.

“I knew you would call back to ask, still not admitting it? If you’re still being stubborn, Rongrong won’t want you.”

Song Baiyan supported his forehead, she even called him Rongrong, he was too lazy to argue, “How is his condition?”

Mrs. Tan felt distressed, and lowered her voice to say, “High fever, with a flushed face, and his voice is hoarse, so pitiful, it was 39 degrees at first, let me see if the temperature has gone down,”

Saying that, she took Yu Zhanrong’s temperature again, gently touching his cheek with her hand.

In his stupor, Yu Zhanrong only felt that the person was very gentle, like his mother, he tried to open his chaotic eyelids, and murmured.

Song Baiyan didn’t hear Yu Zhanrong speak, but he heard Mrs. Tan say in an extremely gentle voice, “Mommy is here, be good, go to sleep.”

    Song Baiyan: “…”

This role-playing, is it a little too natural? It’s too into the role.

Mrs. Tan tiptoed out of the master bedroom, closed the door and excitedly said, “Hey son, Rongrong called me Mommy, oh dear, my old mother’s heart is about to melt.”

Song Baiyan thought, I heard that.

He tactfully reminded, “Is it possible that he wasn’t calling you?”

“How could it not be?” Mrs. Tan was unhappy, “It was right in front of me, he was calling me.”

“Okay, okay, it’s you, it’s you, has the temperature gone down? Does he still have a high fever?”

“It has gone down a little, but he still has a fever, you hurry back, this is when he needs someone to accompany him.”

“I’m out of town, and I have things to do, I can’t go back until tomorrow morning at the earliest.”

Mrs. Tan didn’t hear Song Baiyan refute or deny, and she was secretly happy, just as she thought.

“Then Mommy will help you take care of him first, you hurry up and finish your work and come back, I definitely won’t feel relieved leaving Rongrong here alone.”

    Song Baiyan agreed.
