    Chapter 101: Departure

Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district relished the affection this person showed in his arms, and holding Song Huaixi, he stood up, “If you’re sleepy, go to bed and sleep.”

“I haven’t washed up yet…” Song Huaixi mumbled groggily, nestled against his shoulder.

    “Someone.”

Chun Hua and Zhao Lu, who were outside the tent, immediately entered and quickly prepared the washing utensils.

Seeing Song Huaixi nestled in Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district’s arms, they both tactfully withdrew.

Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district held Song Huaixi in one arm, and with the other, he wet a silk handkerchief with warm water. Then, holding Song Huaixi, he gently and carefully wiped his cheeks.

The person in his arms accepted Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district’s care with a calm expression, so comfortable that he was too lazy to even open his eyes.

After cleaning his face, Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district took the rinsing cup and held it to his lips. After Song Huaixi tilted his head back and gargled for a while, he then took a container and had him spit it out.

Having done everything, Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district gently placed him on the bed and covered him with a brocade quilt. He then quickly washed up himself.

The bed Song Huaixi was lying on was very soft, with two or three layers of thick mattress. The fabric was also the finest brocade.

In this desolate Northwest, covered in yellow sand, Song Huaixi slept very comfortably every night, even on the coldest evenings.

Lying on the bed, Song Huaixi still stubbornly kept his eyes open. When Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district lay down beside him, he finally contentedly hugged his lean waist, hanging himself all over him and tilting his head to fall asleep.

Originally, Song Huaixi had something on his mind. He wanted to ask Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district if they were about to return to the capital. But sleepiness came too quickly. Unable to resist, he forgot the question he wanted to ask.

Holding Song Huaixi’s warm body, Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district lowered his head and carefully examined his sleeping face by the candlelight on the small table.

A touch of tenderness spread in his light-colored eyes, and he lowered his head to gently kiss his forehead. He embraced the person in his arms and slept soundly through the night.

When Song Huaixi woke up, he found himself wrapped in a brocade quilt in Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district’s arms.

He was swaying gently, and he realized he was in a carriage.

“Awake? Little sleepyhead.” Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district looked down at Song Huaixi, who looked sleepy, and reached out to brush the stray hair off his face.

Song Huaixi’s round eyes showed a dazed look, and his fair cheeks were flushed from sleeping for a long time.

“Why are we in a carriage?” Song Huaixi asked, rubbing his eyes as he climbed out of the quilt.

He recognized this carriage; they had come to the Northwest in it. Where was this carriage taking him now?

Although his mind was blank, Song Huaixi was not afraid. Because Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district was by his side, as long as he was there, he didn’t have to worry about anything.

Putting down the military book in his hand, Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district reached for the cyan-colored clothes that were placed on the side and draped them over him, “This is the road to the capital. Has Huaixi been sleeping for so long that he’s hungry?”

“The capital?” General Sikou Lanfeng had mentioned it to him. He hadn’t expected to be in a carriage going to the capital so soon. “Really? Then can we go home?”

    Home?

Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district lowered his eyes, a smile on his lips. For the first time, he felt anticipation for these two words.

    “Yes.”

Hearing the reply, Song Huaixi was very happy and immediately asked, “Are Father, Mother, Older Brother, Sister-in-law, Chun Hua, Zhao Lu, Qing Shan, Qing Yang, and Little Wolf all going back?”

Seeing him call out a series of names, Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district smiled and nodded, “Yes. They are in the carriages behind.”

Hearing that everyone was there, Song Huaixi felt relieved, hugged the food box that Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district handed him, and ate something to fill his stomach.

    Yangshan Pass.

Sun Shu and several personal guards sent by Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district were busy outside the camp.

“Send a few more people to survey the terrain ahead. And also set up defenses.” Sun Shu commanded his subordinates while surveying the already erected tents.

His eyes accidentally glanced and saw Liang Xiuzhu sitting on the ground with several soldiers by the tents in the distance, talking and laughing.

“Hahahaha, that’s so funny…” Liang Xiuzhu laughed so hard his stomach hurt as he watched them. His beautiful face became even more captivating when he laughed.

The soldiers sitting opposite him stared intently. Although they knew that the person in front of them was a man, they were still unconsciously attracted by his beauty.

Sun Shu had good eyesight and saw the expressions on the faces of those men. His face grew darker and darker.

A subordinate who was listening to his instructions turned his head, and Sun Shu was no longer there. He wondered, how could such a big man disappear so quickly?

Liang Xiuzhu finally stopped laughing and reached out to the person who had just told the joke, sitting on the ground in a relaxed manner.

As he moved, a smug look appeared on his face, “Hey! Brother. I have an even funnier joke here. Funnier than the one you just told, do you believe it!”

Before his hand could touch the person, he was lifted up by the back of his collar.

“Who is it!” Liang Xiuzhu was interrupted in the middle of his excitement and turned his head impatiently. A wooden face suddenly entered his eyes.

Sun Shu frowned as he looked at Liang Xiuzhu, his face sullen. His gaze swept over the still clueless people on the ground, and a cold aura surrounded him.

    “Deputy General Sun…”

“Not building defenses and wasting time here? Do you want to be beaten?”

Seeing Sun Shu’s harsh words, the people on the ground knew it was bad and quickly got up and ran away in a puff of smoke. They muttered as they ran. Had Deputy General Sun eaten gunpowder today?

Seeing that he had sent them all away, Liang Xiuzhu felt unhappy. It had been agreed that his task would be completed once he pretended to be the Prince’s Consort and arrived in the Northwest. He had already prepared to return to the capital.

The Prince had said that as long as he agreed, he would bring his mother out of that residence and give them a large sum of money.

Who knew that this Sun Shu wouldn’t let him leave. Saying that he was afraid he would delay the Prince’s important affairs, he forcibly kept him by his side.

“What are you doing? You just don’t want me to have a good time, right?” Liang Xiuzhu shook off his hand, freed his collar, and glared at him unhappily.

Reaching out to pat the non-existent dust on his body, Liang Xiuzhu looked at Sun Shu in his armor, “When can I go back to see my mother?”

The military camp was so boring.

“I told you, you can’t leave yet. Honestly stay here.” Sun Shu had a headache and glared at him coldly.

In the entire military camp, only he wore bright long robes, swaying back and forth. The well-tailored material clearly outlined his slender and elegant figure. Among the entire gray-clad soldiers, he was the most eye-catching.

Yet he had no awareness of it, swaggering through the market all day with a beautiful face. The military camp was full of passionate men, and who knew when someone would get the wrong idea.

Not getting a satisfactory answer, Liang Xiuzhu was too lazy to talk to him anymore and turned to walk towards his tent.

Sun Shu watched his back and warned, “Also, stay away from the soldiers in the military camp, don’t blame me for not reminding you.”

Unexpectedly, Liang Xiuzhu misunderstood his meaning after hearing this. Thinking that he was worried about him seducing his subordinates. He paused and angrily waved open the tent and walked in. Not even bothering to give a reply.

Sun Shu looked at his back, his head aching. He didn’t know what was bothering this person these days.
