    Chapter 88: Little Tail

Hanzhou, Zhao Fangye of the Ning district was in his study discussing matters with several subordinates.

As they were talking, Zhao Fangye suddenly paused.

His gaze fell towards the doorway.

The subordinates immediately understood and went to investigate.

As soon as the door opened and they were about to take action, the subordinate who opened the door stopped abruptly upon seeing the person’s face.

“Princess Consort? What are you doing here?”

The subordinate looked at Song Huaixi, who was hunched over and peeking through the crack of the door, with a puzzled expression.

Realizing he had been discovered, Song Huaixi stuck out his bottom and looked up,

    his face showing some unease.

“I… I didn’t mean to….” After saying this, Song Huaixi turned around, wanting to run away.

Song Huaixi hadn’t come to find him for several days, but here he was today.

Slightly curling his lips, Zhao Fangye stared at his hurried figure, sitting behind his desk, and said calmly, “Stop.”

Song Huaixi looked guilty and obediently stood still.

He was told to stop, and he really stopped, not even bothering to turn around and show his face.

Zhao Fangye rubbed his forehead, truly a little simpleton.

Getting up and walking to his side, Zhao Fangye looked at Song Huaixi.

He said to the subordinates beside him, “Continue to increase the manpower until you find them. You may leave.”

The subordinates cupped their fists and withdrew, “Yes, Your Highness.”

Walking in front of Song Huaixi, he saw him still standing there blankly with his head slightly lowered.

Zhao Fangye patted his head and bent down slightly to look at him: “Why such an expression? Did Huaixi do something wrong?”

Song Huaixi bit his lip, staring at the ground.

Did he do something wrong? It seemed so. As soon as he came, everyone left.

    He must have disturbed them.

These past few days, Zhao Fangye had spent most of his time in the study discussing matters, and Song Huaixi hadn’t been able to see him.

Unable to cling to Zhao Fangye, he clung to his parents.

Song Zigen’s injuries had improved greatly under Ouyang Tongji’s care, but he still needed time to recuperate.

Song Zigen was also feeling depressed from being in bed all day, which wasn’t conducive to his recovery.

Ouyang Tongji’s agreement with Zhao Fangye was to heal the man. He was eager to return to his mountain.

Song Zigen’s illness couldn’t be dragged on like this, it would delay things.

So, he had someone make a simple recliner and moved him to the courtyard to bask in the sun.

Song Zigen looked at the vibrant spring scenery in the courtyard and felt much better. Lin Rugui sat beside him, flipping through books with him.

At first, Song Huaixi was playing around in the courtyard with Little Wolf, but later he lost interest.

Seeing him sitting on the side, feeling gloomy and lost in thought, they asked him why, only to find out that it was because he couldn’t see Zhao Fangye.

Song Zigen and Lin Rugui laughed at him upon hearing this: “It seems that our Huaixi is really clingy. Could it be that you’re Prince’s little tail?”

Hearing their teasing, Song Huaixi, who had been facing them, became embarrassed and turned his back to them.

But he really wanted to cling to Zhao Fangye.

Seeing him so troubled by longing, Lin Rugui went over and patted his head, advising, “Huaixi, the Prince is burdened with affairs these days, you shouldn’t disturb him too much, understand?”

Seeing him like this, Song Zigen’s tone also became serious.

“The Prince has heavy responsibilities, how can he be infatuated with love? Always going to the Prince will disturb his discussions. Huaixi, you’re grown up, you should be sensible, understand?”

Song Huaixi reluctantly nodded, pouting unhappily.

Zhao Fangye was still just a Prince, and Song Huaixi was already like this. What would happen when he became Emperor? In the future, there might be three palaces and six courtyards, with the Emperor’s grace spread thin.

The time to see Zhao Fangye would be even less. How could he survive in the palace like this? Song Zigen’s thoughts drifted far.

Looking intently at Song Huaixi, he intended to give him some admonishments: “Don’t always cling to the Prince, you must have something to do yourself. What’s the point of having a heart full of love? Do you still remember what Daddy used to tell you?”

What he said? Song Huaixi shook his head.

His father had said too many things to him, like countless leaves on a tree. How could he remember?

“I don’t remember.” He replied honestly, his round eyes looking at Song Zigen: “Daddy, say it again.”

“Then I’ll say it again, Huaixi must remember it.”

Song Zigen smiled lovingly: “Huaixi, you didn’t like going to the academy when you were little. Daddy told you that not studying isn’t important. What’s important is that you have something to do, instead of living aimlessly.”

“Now you’re indulging in love, but do you know that love is fleeting? It’s an ethereal thing. But if you have something you truly love and can seriously study it, then that thing will never betray you, it’s solidly yours.”

Song Zigen spoke at length, and Song Huaixi became confused as he listened.

He looked like he understood but didn’t.

Lin Rugui, who was beside him, seeing him somewhat dazed, said, “Your father means to tell you to find something you like to do. Don’t always think about the Prince and stick together with him. The Prince also has serious things to do, right?”

This time Song Huaixi understood, blinking his eyes in confusion: “But I, I don’t know what I like?”

He had grown up so much, he really didn’t have anything he particularly liked.

What he liked most was Zhao Fangye.

“Look for it slowly, you’ll always find it.” Song Zigen closed his eyes and leaned back in the recliner to bask in the sun: “These days, go find something you like to do instead of going to the Prince.”

Zhao Fangye led him into the house and hugged him. Seeing his expression a bit dejected, his brow slightly furrowed: “What’s wrong, Huaixi? Unhappy?”

“Did I disturb you?” Song Huaixi looked up at him, somewhat apologetic: “I didn’t mean to, I just wanted to secretly take a look at you and leave…”

“How could you?” Learning that he was sad about this, Zhao Fangye chuckled: “Why sneak around when you want to see me? Don’t we see each other every day?”

“No, we don’t.” Song Huaixi immediately retorted: “We only see each other at night, not during the day. Sometimes we don’t even see each other at night….”

Zhao Fangye left early and returned late, staying in the study every day.

They didn’t eat together, and he came back very late at night, Song Huaixi had already fallen asleep. Zhao Fangye saw him every day, but Song Huaixi couldn’t see him much in a day.

As soon as these words came out, Zhao Fangye paused, realizing that he had indeed neglected Song Huaixi quite a bit these days. He held him in his arms and kissed his forehead.

Zhao Fangye looked down at Song Huaixi in his arms, who looked somewhat aggrieved.

His tone also carried an apology: “It’s my fault, Huaixi, come whenever you want to see me. Why haven’t you come these days?”

“Daddy said you have important things to do, and I can’t disturb you. But I missed you a little, I just wanted to secretly take a look at you, I didn’t want to disturb you.”

He was being very careful, only looking through the crack of the door. He didn’t expect to be discovered.

Hearing these words, Zhao Fangye’s heart almost melted. So, the little fool liked him this much.

A smile gathered in his light-colored eyes. Zhao Fangye bent down, raised his chin, and kissed his lips.

The kiss was tender and lingering. When Zhao Fangye left his lips, Song Huaixi was still somewhat unsatisfied. He hugged his neck and leaned in to beg for another kiss.

Zhao Fangye stared at him, a muffled laugh escaping his throat. He turned around and pressed him against the back of the chair, kissing him fiercely.

    “Mmm…”

His breath was completely taken over, Song Huaixi comfortably narrowed his eyes. The kiss lasted a long time.

When they separated, there were several kiss marks on his fair neck.

Zhao Fangye scooped up his somewhat limp body and held him in his arms.

He reached out to trace his delicate eyebrows and eyes: “You’re really a little fool. You’ll never disturb me, I’m very happy you came, Huaixi.”
