Chapter 30: What a Calculated Move

Seeing the person who arrived, Prince Zhao Fangye of the Ning district’s face immediately turned cold. His pale eyes watched the Chancellor walk towards him step by step.

Song Huaixi met his eagle-like, sinister eyes and took a step back in fear.

Every time he saw this person, he had a very fierce look towards him, as if he would pounce on him and tear him to pieces in the next second.

Song Huaixi was very puzzled. He clearly hadn’t offended him, so why was he treating him like this?

Noticing his fear, Zhao Fangye put his arm around his shoulders and said softly, “Didn’t you say yesterday that the food in the Imperial Palace was delicious? Today’s chef is from the Imperial Palace, go and have a taste.”

His pale eyes looked at Wang Bo, signaling him to take Song Huaixi away. Wang Bo immediately understood.

He stepped forward and said to Song Huaixi, “Royal Consort, this old servant instructed the kitchen to specially make your favorite dishes. They’re still hot. Let’s go.”

Hearing this, Song Huaixi didn’t show the excitement he usually did when he heard there was good food. Instead, he looked at Zhao Fangye with worry.

It was this bad person. Zhao Fangye had been very unhappy after he came last time.

He didn’t know what he was going to do this time.

    “Go on.”

Seeing the worry in his eyes, Zhao Fangye touched the top of his head and smiled gently at him, “I’ll be there in a while.”

Song Huaixi took a step, turning his head three times, looking at Zhao Fangye and then quickly glancing at the Chancellor before running to Zhao Fangye’s side.

He took his hand and said softly, “Don’t be unhappy, okay? Don’t listen to what he says.”

Zhao Fangye smiled and nodded, “I know.”

Receiving his answer, Song Huaixi then turned around and followed Wang Bo away.

Their interaction was all seen by the Chancellor, and his desire to get rid of Song Huaixi intensified.

When had he ever seen his blockhead of a grandson show such an expression?

Song Huaixi must not be allowed to stay.

As soon as Song Huaixi left, Zhao Fangye’s face immediately returned to its usual coldness.

“I wonder why Grandfather has come here today?”

“Don’t you usually never celebrate the New Year? Why are you in such a good mood this year?”

The Chancellor didn’t answer, and walked into the Ning Wang Mansion on his own.

The usually deserted Ning Wang Mansion was actually decorated with lanterns and colored streamers. The more he looked, the more anger surged in the Chancellor’s heart.

Zhao Fangye’s every abnormal change was caused by that idiot male wife. He never thought that his grandson, who had no desires or demands, would be bewitched by a simpleton.

He recalled how he and that idiot were not at all discreet in front of everyone at yesterday’s palace banquet.

Little did he know what a big handle this was in other people’s eyes.

Zhao Fangye followed behind him, scoffing softly, “Grandfather came all the way here today just for this? Grandfather is too free.”

All the way to the study, the Chancellor then revealed his true colors. A pair of sharp eyes stared intently at Zhao Fangye.

His tone was angry, not concealing his intentions, “Looks like you’ve taken my words as wind in your ears. It’s fine if you don’t deal with that idiot from the Song family, but you don’t hide anything in front of everyone, aren’t you afraid others will seize your weakness?!”

After saying that, the Chancellor flicked his sleeve, his eyes full of ruthlessness, “Since you can’t bring yourself to do it! Don’t blame me for being ruthless!”

    “You dare!”

Zhao Fangye’s voice suddenly turned cold and harsh, his eyes filled with anger, “He’s my man. If you still want me to complete your grand plan, then don’t reach your hands out so far!”

He didn’t expect that he would openly confront himself for a man.

The Chancellor was uncontrollably angry and slapped him in the face, “Impudence!”

Zhao Fangye’s face was turned to the side by the slap, and a trace of blood oozed from the corner of his mouth. His tongue touched the bleeding corner of his mouth.

Turning his head to look at the Chancellor, his gaze was full of indifference, like a frozen, cold pool.

Startled by the coldness in his eyes, the Chancellor was stunned for a moment, realizing that the person in front of him was no longer the puppet he could manipulate a few years ago.

But a lone wolf that had the ability to fight back at any time. Only now did he realize that he seemed to have done a stupid thing by leading a wolf into his house.

The Chancellor calmed down and threatened in a contemptuous tone, “Don’t forget, you are nothing without the Wang family! How dare you disobey me?!”

“You’ve become so infatuated with a man that you’ve lost your mind? Have you forgotten what you’re carrying on your shoulders? Not only can he not bring you help, but he will also become a handle to blackmail you. You should be more clear about this than I am.”

Zhao Fangye’s attitude towards Song Huaixi at the palace banquet was clear to everyone. The Song family had no power or influence, and it was easy to deal with them.

Therefore, to blackmail Zhao Fangye, Song Huaixi was the best weakness to attack.

Realizing this at yesterday’s banquet, the Chancellor rushed over today to deal with Song Huaixi, just to clear the obstacles to his future.

Zhao Fangye’s face was gloomy, his tone cold and sarcastic, “Since I dare to expose my weakness, I naturally won’t be afraid of being blackmailed. Unlike you, Grandfather, who claims to be without a single flaw, but can’t even protect your loved ones.”

Admittedly, outwardly distancing himself would protect him from being implicated. But with Song Huaixi’s little brain, he wouldn’t understand the intention of doing so. He would only think that he was being hot and cold.

But since he liked him, he wouldn’t let him suffer any grievances. Even if it was fake, he had the ability to protect him since he dared to do it.

    “You!”

Struck by his sore spot, the Chancellor raised his hand, but trembled and did not fall for a long time.

After a moment, he softened his tone, “Fangye, Grandfather has been a little negligent towards you in some things. You’re just having a moment of excitement with that simpleton. If you like it, Grandfather can arrange it for you.”

The Chancellor was also a shrewd person. He realized that he couldn’t be tough. Zhao Fangye had been clean all these years. It was inevitable that he would be fascinated by this kind of thing.

Men, once they were satisfied, would know what it was all about.

Song Huaixi’s appearance was indeed somewhat attractive, no wonder Zhao Fangye was fond of him. But it shouldn’t be to this extent.

There were plenty of people in the world who looked better than him.

Hearing his words, Zhao Fangye frowned. The emotions in his heart churned.

He only felt disgusted, “Have you said enough? If you’ve said enough, please leave, Grandfather.”

Seeing that he was impervious to persuasion, the Chancellor snorted coldly, flicked his sleeves, and turned to leave.

That night, the Chancellor took advantage of the night to send several handsome men and women into the Ning Wang Mansion.

At that time, Song Huaixi was applying medicine to Zhao Fangye’s broken corner of his mouth, feeling distressed. Zhao Fangye, the person who was beaten, had no expression on his face.

But Song Huaixi saw a red palm print on the side of his face, and the corner of his mouth was also cracked. His eyes immediately turned red.

His voice choked, “Why did he hit you? Why did he hit you? You bad thing.”

He had finally coaxed the person well and hadn’t said a few words when Deputy General Sun hurriedly walked in and said a few words in Zhao Fangye’s ear.

After listening, Zhao Fangye’s eyes were deep.

Considering that Song Huaixi was still by his side, he had to suppress his anger.

“Send everyone away!” Zhao Fangye said coldly.

Deputy General Sun looked embarrassed and said a few more words in his ear. Zhao Fangye’s expression became even more ugly.

He suddenly stood up, scaring Song Huaixi, who was holding the medicine in a daze, “Wh…what’s wrong? Did I hurt you?”

Song Huaixi looked up at him, his eyes full of nervousness.

Forcing himself to calm down, Zhao Fangye controlled his anger and reached out to touch his cheek.

He showed a gentle smile, “How could I be? I have some things to deal with. Don’t wait for me for dinner, eat by yourself.”

“Okay.” Song Huaixi rubbed his palm and nodded obediently, “I know.”

Pale eyes filled with a smile, “Good.”

Turning around and walking out of the courtyard, Zhao Fangye’s face immediately turned cold, and he was surrounded by anger.

He instructed Deputy General Sun, “Go to the backyard and tidy up the side rooms and imprison them separately. Don’t let the news leak out, especially not to the Royal Consort. Understand?”

“Yes, Your Highness.” Deputy General Sun accepted the order and hurried down to make arrangements.

Zhao Fangye stood in the snow, the look in his eyes colder than the snow in the sky.

People’s hearts were really disgusting to him.

The Chancellor had sent all the children of aristocratic families and daughters of officials who had a clean background but a low status.

Prince Ning was now the prince in the court who was most likely to inherit the throne.

These people naturally wanted to be favored by Prince Ning, hoping that in the future, when Prince Ning inherited the throne, they could also fly to the branches and become phoenixes.

Therefore, everyone was happy and flocked to it.

If it were someone else, Zhao Fangye wouldn’t mind leaving them a whole corpse, but the Chancellor expected that he would have scruples about the children of officials and couldn’t bear to kill them. That’s why he was relieved to send these people into the Wang Mansion.

    What a calculated move.
