Chapter 16: Drink it quickly, the medicine is getting cold.

After hearing the imperial decree, Zhao Fangye’s eyes didn’t show the slightest ripple.

He even had the leisure to take a silk handkerchief and gently wipe the grains of rice from the corner of Song Huaixi’s mouth.

The eunuch who delivered the decree saw that his attitude was so arrogant, and he didn’t take himself and the Emperor seriously at all.

Standing where he was, he raised his shrill voice, “Very well! Prince Zhao, you dare to be so presumptuous. This old one will definitely report your behavior today to His Majesty as it is!”

Zhao Fangye didn’t even glance at him, his face turned cold, “Get out!”

The eunuch’s mouth was twisted with anger, and he glared at him fiercely. He threw the imperial decree to Wang Bo, who was kneeling on the ground.

He turned and walked out of the room.

Opening his mouth to take a mouthful of porridge that Zhao Fangye fed him, Song Huaixi looked at the eunuch’s angry back. He blinked and looked at Zhao Fangye.

“Why did he come again? He seems unhappy today? Why?”

Song Huaixi didn’t understand the imperial edict just now, so naturally he didn’t know that because of his sudden fever, Zhao Fangye was being targeted by the Emperor.

He had seen that eunuch before. He was the one who held the yellow cloth in the Song Mansion and said that he was going to get married. But what he didn’t know was that this person was a very favored chief eunuch beside the Emperor.

He was used to showing off his power in the court, and all the civil and military officials were somewhat afraid of him. Only when he came to Zhao Fangye did he get a nose full of ash.

This time, he must be unhappy in his heart, and who knows how he will slander Zhao Fangye when he returns to the palace.

But Zhao Fangye didn’t take this eunuch to heart at all, he didn’t even take the Emperor seriously. What was there to fear from a dog beside him?

Zhao Fangye calmly ate his meal, and didn’t say much to Song Huaixi, who was curiously staring at him.

He raised his eyes to look at him: “Eat your meal.”

    “Oh.”

Everyone stood up one after another, and Zhang Mama was full of thoughts. It seemed that she and the Prince Consort had made a big mistake for the Prince.

She looked at the two people eating by the bed, but Zhao Fangye didn’t seem to have any intention of blaming Song Huaixi.

Even his attitude towards him was much better than before.

After finishing the evening meal, Chun Hua brought up a bowl of dark medicinal liquid.

Song Huaixi was quick-eyed and immediately saw what was in the bowl. He resisted and shrank into the bed.

While crawling, he said, “I don’t want to drink medicine! Take it away! I don’t want to drink!”

Seeing him so resistant, Chun Hua was helpless holding the bowl of medicine for a while.

Zhao Fangye sat on the soft couch beside him and told Deputy General Sun to handle military affairs. He hadn’t said a few words when he heard the noise coming from inside the screen.

Zhang Mama took the bowl of medicine and said sternly to Song Huaixi, “Is the Prince Consort starting to act like a spoiled child? How can you get better if you don’t take medicine? When you were in the Song Mansion, Madam watched over you, and the Prince Consort never acted like this!”

Song Huaixi refused to take the medicine all the time, and even if Chun Hua and Zhao Lu held him down, he could still escape. The bowl of medicine that was delivered to his mouth was knocked to the ground.

So they had to change another bowl of medicine.

Even the mama who had watched him grow up couldn’t help but speak sternly. His body was not good, and not taking medicine would only prolong the illness.

How could his body withstand such torment?

Seeing that the always kind mama was suddenly so fierce to him, her words reminded Song Huaixi of the long days when he was force-fed medicine. In an instant, grievance surged in his heart.

His eyebrows furrowed and tears were about to fall.

Zhang Mama felt sorry for him when she saw him like this, but how could she not give him medicine?

She hardened her heart and brought the bowl to his mouth, “Be good, finish it in one gulp and it won’t be bitter. Just bear with it and it will be over.”

Zhao Fangye went around the screen and saw Song Huaixi’s tearful, misty eyes, softly sobbing, being forced to drink medicine.

His fair face was almost turning into a little bitter gourd, and he was constantly shedding bitter tears.

He looked very pitiful and helpless.

“You all go down.” Zhao Fangye took the medicine from Zhang Mama’s hand and said to the crowd surrounding the bed.

Chun Hua and Zhao Lu looked at Zhao Fangye with some surprise in their eyes.

They were only a few years old when they were picked up, although they were children. But the Prince had never treated them with such an attitude.

The Prince had always been unfeeling and very indifferent. They thought that the Prince was born like this, but they never thought that they would see such a tender side of him.

Suddenly, they felt a little sour in their hearts, and they looked at Song Huaixi with a bit of envy in their eyes.

Everyone retreated, and Song Huaixi looked up at Zhao Fangye, who was holding the bowl of medicine. Seeing his cold expression, Song Huaixi was a little scared, thinking that he was also here to force-feed him medicine.

His voice was a little weaker, still choked up with resistance: “I don’t want to drink medicine…”

Without answering him, Zhao Fangye put the bowl of medicine on a small table nearby. He took a silk handkerchief and wiped his tear-stained eyes.

His tone was helpless, mixed with an imperceptible pampering: “You cry every day, are you made of water?”

Hearing his words, Song Huaixi felt even more aggrieved: “I’m sad, can’t I cry? I wasn’t like this at home. I’m sad every day here…”

The finger that wiped his tears paused, and Zhao Fangye suddenly felt heavy in his heart. That’s right, he was originally a carefree young master in the Song family.

But he was sent to the Prince’s Mansion to suffer grievances. One look at Song Huaixi’s personality and he knew that he had been spoiled since he was a child. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so aggrieved and sad over such a small matter that he would cry so much.

His fingertip brushed his wet eyelashes, repeating his words: “You’re sad every day?”

After a moment ofStay stunned, Song Huaixi thought for a while and said, “Not every day…”

Sometimes he was still very happy.

“Is that so? What in the Prince’s Mansion can make you happy?”

    “Um…”

Song Huaixi glanced at him and stopped crying.

He said seriously, “I’m happy when I eat with you, I’m happy when I sleep, I’m happy when I write, and I’m happy when I practice swords.”

“I’m happy when I see you.”

His words were frank, and Song Huaixi didn’t feel there was anything wrong with them. His dark eyes stared straight into Zhao Fangye’s eyes without blinking.

They were so clean, so hot.

At the moment when their eyes met, Zhao Fangye only felt that he was burned. It was as if his heart had been struck by a thunderbolt, and he couldn’t help but tremble.

Lowering his eyelashes, Zhao Fangye looked at Song Huaixi for a long time. Only then did Zhao Fangye suppress the violent beating of his heart.

He calmly picked up the bowl of medicine from the side.

    “Drink the medicine.”

    “Ah?”

The topic changed too quickly, and Song Huaixi didn’t react for a moment. He immediately waved his hand and shrank into the bed.

“I don’t want to drink medicine! I don’t want to drink medicine!”

Zhao Fangye grabbed his ankle that was exposed outside the quilt with quick eyes and hands, and dragged him into his arms with one hand.

Suppressing his struggling movements, his slender fingertips quickly tapped somewhere on his neck.

Holding the medicine to his mouth, Zhao Fangye looked serious.

    “Drink it, it’s not bitter.”

Song Huaixi realized that after being poked by him, he couldn’t smell the bitterness anymore, so he settled down. He looked at the bowl of medicine with suspicion.

Seeing that he was still suspicious, Zhao Fangye softened his voice: “I won’t lie to you.”

Song Huaixi looked at him with watery eyes, pitifully: “Don’t lie to me…”

    Zhao Fangye nodded.

Sticking out his tongue, Song Huaixi tasted it tentatively, and his eyes immediately lit up: “It’s really not bitter!”

“Zhao Fangye, it’s really not bitter! You’re so amazing!”

Song Huaixi grabbed his wrist, very excited. His eyes shone like they did on his wedding night. He looked at his eyes with worship.

What a pair of clean eyes, he wanted to dig out his eyes that carried his shadow and preserve them forever.

    But he couldn’t bear it…

Zhao Fangye suppressed his dark thoughts and reached out to touch the corner of his eyes with pity.

He brought the bowl to his lips: “Drink it quickly, the medicine is getting cold.”
