WWY Chapter 83
by VolareChapter 83: End of the Main Text(Story) – You Must Catch Him…
Qi A received the order and forcefully dragged Lan He towards the sea.
With a gun pointed at his head, Lan He had no choice but to stagger along.
She was just a middle school student and didn’t possess superhuman strength, nor much experience.
As they passed the edge of the hillside, Lan He suddenly bumped into Yingying Zou. Zou Yingying, who was walking on the outer side, lost her footing and screamed as she rolled down the hill, all the way to a spot not far from Qi A, covered in dirt and unable to get up for a long while.
Da Sang said something, and the bodyguard next to him raised a submachine gun and began firing at Lan He.
“Lan He!”
“Lan He!”
Two voices shouted at the same time.
Bark and stone chips flew everywhere. When everything calmed down, they saw that the figure in red was safely hiding behind a boulder. He was facing them, while the group by the sea couldn’t see him.
Qi A shouted, “Father, don’t do this! I can convince him! Please!”
Da Sang’s face was full of murderous intent. He glared at him and coldly ordered Zou Yingying, “Yingying, shoot him! I taught you how!”
Zou Yingying twisted her ankle, supported herself on a tree, and tightly gripped the gun in her hand.
Tuxi Ling shouted, “Zou Yingying, he’s using you! Murder is illegal! You absolutely can’t!”
Zou Yingying turned her head to look at him and lightly raised her pistol, saying, “I’m not even fourteen yet. Can’t the Minor Protection Law protect me this once?”
Instantly recalling her experiences, Tuxi Ling felt a chill. He took off running towards her. Qi A started almost at the same time as him, and because he was closer, he reached Zou Yingying before him.
“Bang!” A deafening gunshot rang out. A flame erupted from the muzzle. A bloody line appeared on Qi A’s abdomen. His knees could no longer support his weight, and he slowly knelt down.
He looked down at his gushing wound, a touch of ferocity appearing on his face. He raised his gun towards Zou Yingying. Tuxi Ling quickly rushed forward and kicked the gun out of his hand.
He saw Da Sang turn and get on the speedboat. He quickly took out his phone, sent a message to Director Liu, and was about to run up to check on Lan He.
Lan He shook his head at him, indicating that he was fine, and pointed towards the sea, “You must catch him!”
Tuxi Ling stopped, steeled his heart, grabbed the trembling Zou Yingying, handcuffed her, and then sprinted towards the shore while shooting at the roaring speedboat.
Zou Yingying cried out in terror, “Father, Father! Don’t leave me behind—”
Seeing the speedboat disappear into the distance, she burst into tears, like a true young girl, but Da Sang and the other two had already docked beside the submarine. They boarded.
“Qi A—”
Disregarding everything else, Lan He scrambled down the slope, knelt beside him, covered his wound, and his eyes turned red.
Qi A looked at him up close. Enduring the pain, he squeezed out a smile and said in a light tone, “It’s okay!”
He heard the roar coming from the other side of the mountain, and suddenly, he pressed on his shoulder and stood up, “I have to go.”
Lan He grabbed his arm, “Don’t run anymore. You can’t escape!”
Qi A smiled, pushed him away, and walked straight towards the top of the mountain, limping, leaving a trail of blood on the ground.
Lan He stared at the red spots on the ground for a few seconds, then chased after him, “Qi A!”
Although Qi A didn’t want him to follow, his abdomen kept hurting, blood kept flowing, and he was relying entirely on willpower to support himself. It was easy for him to catch up.
“Qi A!” Lan He ran breathlessly. “Don’t run! The police must have surrounded this place. You don’t understand their methods!”
Qi A firmly moved towards the cliff by the sea, “Father will wait for me. As long as I get to the sea, I can reunite with him! Our submarine is very fast. It can go 10 knots underwater. They aren’t prepared and can’t catch us!”
Lan He couldn’t persuade him, but he still followed him persistently. One injured, one sickly, they ran almost evenly matched.
A large number of police sirens came from the beach. Black police helicopters searched low over the sea surface. Several drones swept over their heads and turned back.
“They’ve found you!”
“It doesn’t matter!” Qi A was very persistent. “We know this terrain inside and out. As long as we turn past that rock in front, Father will be waiting for me there!”
Lan He felt the warm stickiness on his hand, and his throat choked up. He remembered the scene when they were young, running for their lives under the bombers.
He took out the leather whip from his pocket and put it in his hand, “Yours.”
“Keep it!” Qi A pushed it back to him, and asked with difficulty, “Lan He, have you really not slept with the Ling guy?”
Lan He was almost angered to death by him, “I’m not your property. Why do you care so much? Is it any of your business?”
In Qi A’s view, this was an admission.
He laughed strangely twice, supported himself on a boulder, and turned a corner, his smile suddenly freezing on his face.
“Father…”
The afterglow of the setting sun spread over the sea surface, and orange-red and deep blue intertwined to create a beautiful painting. Their eyes were met with nothing. The rendezvous Qi A had expected did not appear.
His Adam’s apple moved with difficulty. He looked at Lan He sadly and finally lowered his head.
Lan He pursed his lips and grabbed his wrist, “Qi A…”
The police helicopter found the suspect under the guidance of the drone. They aimed and opened fire at them because the order from above was: they could be killed on the spot.
Qi A used his last strength to push Lan He behind the boulder, but his own leg was hit. At that narrow corner, his foot slipped and he fell off the cliff.
Lan He instinctively grabbed his hand. His other hand grabbed wildly for something to hold onto, but there was nothing. He was pulled until his upper body slid off the cliff before he stopped.
Below the cliff were jagged reefs protruding from the sea and turbulent waves torn apart by the reefs.
Qi A glanced down, and when he looked up again, his eyes were somewhat scattered, “Lan He, let go of me…”
Lan He shook his head and looked up at the helicopter, glaring at it.
The pilot was stunned. He pressed his hand on the launch button again. The co-pilot hurriedly stopped him, “That seems to be a hostage!”
“How is that possible?” The pilot glanced at the electronic photo on the center console, surprised, “It really is?”
They quickly reported to the command center for instructions.
Qi A seemed to finally release a breath he had been holding for a long time, his consciousness gradually blurring. He felt a little peace of mind when his cold hand was held by his hand.
He tried his best to make his words clear: “Lan He, I’ve seen all the chat logs on your phone.”
Lan He was stunned, his eyes red, crying and laughing, “I’m so embarrassed by you like this…”
Qi A laughed, raised his thumb, and pinched his tiger’s mouth, “Objectively speaking, the Ling guy is not bad. If you want to be with him, it’s fine.”
“I have to be with him. I have to let you watch with your own eyes as we live happily ever after, and piss you off, you bastard!” Lan He pursed his lips. “I told you not to go back to his side. You just wouldn’t listen!”
Qi A blinked his tired eyes: “Let go.”
Lan He, with tears in his eyes, pretended to be strong and said, “No, I want to take you to surrender!”
Qi A stared into his eyes for a long time until his arms began to shake from not being able to hold on. Then, he said, “Lan He, don’t torture me anymore.”
“I don’t want to!” A rare look of ferocity appeared on Lan He’s face. “I’ll hire the best lawyers for you and find a way to send you to a country without the death penalty. I…”
Large teardrops slipped from the corner of Lan He’s eyes, and he bit his trembling lips tightly. With his numb hand, he squeezed his hand hard, and then released it millimeter by millimeter.
The salty sea breeze stung his torn tiger’s mouth, and blood filled the gaps between their intertwined fingers. Qi A also cried, hot tears spilling from his eyes and winding down along the long scar on his face.
That scar was left on him by Lan He.
Three years ago, he decided to return to China behind Da Sang’s back. Qi A desperately stopped him. He threatened and gestured with a dagger, and accidentally drew a deep line on his face. From then on, Qi A only used a leather whip until recently.
At the moment his fingertips slipped, Qi A fell rapidly into the abyss. He showed a relieved smile on his face, his eyes always reflecting the otherworldly youth until the moment he was completely swallowed by the cold sea water.
Lan He closed his eyes, feeling that he was also surrounded by despair.
“Lan He!” Tuxi Ling’s voice sounded behind him.
Lan He slowly turned around. In his hazy eyes, his anxious appearance gradually became clear.
Tuxi Ling was frightened by his current state of disarray. His throat convulsed, and he held his face, his voice trembling with lingering fear, “Are you okay?”
Lan He shook his head, his eyes suddenly firm, “Did you catch him?”
Tuxi Ling hugged him tightly and said, “Soon! We definitely can!”
On the bare cliff, the cold wind was unusually clear. Lan He, who was cold all over, curled up into his hot embrace, wanting to hide like this, never to come out for the rest of his life.
The news was transmitted in time. The coast guard ship followed the radar and closely pursued the underwater submarine. The captain reported to the naval vessel on a specific frequency, requesting assistance.
The navy deployed submarines nearby and chased all the way to the high seas. Da Sang finally gave up resistance and was escorted back to the capital after re-boarding the land.
The subsequent developments were beyond Tuxi Ling’s rank. He was forced to take a half-month vacation.
More than ten days passed, and Lan He was in low spirits. He knew that the only thing that could help him now was to find Qi A’s body.
There were many hidden reefs under the cliff of Dafeng Reef, covered with sharp barnacles and shells. He privately guessed that he might have been torn to pieces and fed to the fish when he fell, but he didn’t dare to say it.
Another fruitless day. Tuxi Ling stood outside Lan He’s villa, hesitating to go in. He was not good at coaxing people and felt that he was terrible.
People always come out of pain, just like the sun always breaks through the dark clouds. He has been comforting, accompanying, and waiting, but he really doesn’t know when that moment will come.
Through that day, he finally understood why Lan He was always so sure that Qi A could not kill him. They had no blood relationship but were closer than relatives. Qi A’s performance was more of a paranoid possessiveness than love, a strong possessiveness of “the only one in life.”
He also blamed himself. If he had gone to help Lan He instead of chasing Da Sang that day, would the result have been different? At least Lan He would not have had “family” die in his hands.
He sighed deeply.
Tuxi Ling, you really can’t catch up with anything warm, and you always drop the ball at critical moments. Why should you be someone’s boyfriend?
The phone in his pocket suddenly vibrated. He took it out and saw that it was Lan He.
He nervously clicked on the message and was stunned for a few seconds when he saw the message he sent, then smiled.
[Lan He: What are you doing outside the gate? Walking around and not coming in?]
[Lan He: Hurry up!]
[Lan He: The chef is here, why don’t you come and pay your respects?]
[Lan He: Picture Message]
The photo was a full plate of steamed spring rolls, messy and some with the filling exposed. The figure blurred into the background was obviously Lan He, making a V-sign to the camera.
His face was not very clear, but he seemed to be smiling sweetly.
